Not really stealth release, when they said it in the Nintendo Direct
You're right, I forgot about the presentation and just happened upon it while browsing the store this morning. Though I would still call releasing a game at the same time it's announced pretty stealthy, similar to Rhythm Heaven Megamix during E3.

They announced the game at least a year ago, but refused to ever announce it for NA release. Instead, they pull the same crap that they have done with every other Picross game on 3DS and try to sneak it out without giving them their due respect.

Just a heads up... the demo for Picross 3D Round 2 is ok but nothing special.  There are about 6 tutorial lessons tied to 6 small example puzzles for those tutorials then three actual real puzzles with any level of complexity.  So really it's only the 3 main puzzles to get any sense of if the game is worth it to you.  Honestly it let me know that I'd probably enjoy the game but, again, not for $30.  Maybe $10 on sale.  Still I have the original Picross 3D so maybe I'll crack the seal on it and play it.

While the puzzles are indeed 3D polygons like the first game... only the final solution and the menus have any top screen 3D.   So this would be perfect on a 2DS as the actual 3D is pretty pointless.

I'm slowly downloading the demo now, but will probably end up buying it today. Yes, the $30 price does sting, but I've been waiting ages for this to be released here. :D/

Shiiiiit, me too. I've been away from the internet all day and just realized this was released, I don't know how long I can resist!

Come on Nintendo.  You can be assed to charge $30 but not assed enough to then make it worth $30 by putting it in a box at least.  That's pretty half assed to me.  Now to wait for a sale that will never happen like I've been waiting on all the other digital Picross games...

Also Nintendo will be reaching in to my pants while I protest and putting another Toon Link Amiibo down there just so I can get toon Zelda.

Has Nintendo ever put any of the Picross games on sale?

Or do they just know that fans will break down and pay full price eventually.

No, which is why those that say they'll wait for sales are actually saying they'll never buy the games. The Picross e games are great values for the price.

I never bought the Picross e games because I always thought that the puzzles were too small. 20x15 would be fine if most of the puzzles were at that size but there are too many 5x5's and 10x10's. I'll keep waiting for one of the games to go up to 25x20 (or larger) puzzles like in Picross DS, but I'm not really expecting anything. There's always Pixlcross for the Wii U and Conceptis for the computer, even though Nintendo has the best interface (it's just wasted on smaller puzzles).

Picross 3D 2 being digital only was such a completely expected disappointment, and now I have to jump through hoops if I want to play it. I'm so tired of Nintendo being so cheap, it feels like they're scrimping pennies at my expense.

I downloaded all the new Streetpass games in hopes that every location around me that used to support Streetpassing will suddenly plug in their routers or something and make all my dreams come true.

It's more of a function of the screen size/resolution that 20x15 is about the largest they could offer for an individual puzzle. Of course the bigger Wii U Gamepad or a PC monitor can handle larger puzzles.

Going back to Picross e6, there are five 5x5 puzzles, 55 10x10 puzzles, 75 15x15 puzzles, and 15 20x15 puzzles. All of those are also available in Mega Picross mode minus the 20x15 puzzles and there are three Micross puzzles, which is an 80x80 puzzle broken up into 100 8x8 puzzles that form a painting in the end.

They actually put out an update for the StreetPass app that lets you have 100 StreetPasses queued up before having to open it up and receive them, but you have to get that Premium thing in the app to be allowed that functionality.

Does the 10% discount on Axiom Verge comes automatically? or do i have to put a code ?

And do you think is a good price for that game or should i wait.

I bought it when it launched on Vita, and there was supposed to be a discount at the time, but PSN screwed up, so I just bought it full price(I wanted to support the programmer anyways). I played it for a few weeks straight, so yeah, it was worth it and then some.

It's just listed at $17.99, which is the sale price.

Axiom Verge is fantastic if you're into Metroid-style games. If you were disappointed by the direction of the new Metroid game, this might be the next best thing.

This is good and all, but I'm not buying a 3DS/NX until they add Super Mario Maker.
Mario Maker on 3DS sounds sweet!

Except that you can't search via Course ID nor can you upload your levels onto the Internet. Also, no costumes.

Well what do I do now? The whole idea was to play other people's levels on the go. Now it's just if people are in the same city?! The video is very confusing. One minute it says you can play levels on the Wii U version then it says something about local play. Are they saying you can only play levels THEY recommend? So if they don't recommend a SMB3 designed level, you're screwed?

Pretty much. There apparently will be some restrictions on what Wii U courses you can play, but didn't say what those restrictions are. Hopefully it has to do with formatting and not something really annoying like "No courses with costumes" or something like that.

The puzzles are limited to 20x15 because the developers made the design choice to keep the stylus controls without needing to zoom in to keep the blocks a certain size, not because of the screen size. I always used the buttons so I don't mind the blocks getting smaller to fit larger puzzles, just like how Picross DS had done for 25x20 puzzles.

I figured at first, that I'd just wait until they made larger puzzles. But it wasn't until after playing Twilight Princess Picross that I realized the what the developer's intent was with the size. But by then there were already six Picross e games that I missed.

I am surprised that Picross wasn't one of the "free to start" games Nintendo put out. Have it come with some free puzzles and when a new pack releases have Spotpass push the next handful of free puzzles and sell the rest as DLC. Makes more sense to me to have one game with all the puzzles than 6,7, etc... cluttering up the home screen. Figure Nintendo would have sold more that way as well.

This feature would have been so much more helpful back when locations which supported Streetpass were more common. I'd heading out this afternoon to hit up some of the places that used to work less than a year ago. Hope I get lucky.

It's worse, somehow N still fuck it up. Per Reddit:

If you own the Premium upgrade for StreetPass Mii Plaza, you can manually move those 10 Miis into the "Line", which can hold up to 100 for later use, but you have to open up your 3DS every 10 StreetPasses and select this option at the pink arrow icon to do so. Leaving your 3DS closed and not touching it will still only get you a max of 10 Mii's otherwise.

As I stated......................

Yeah, that's "N".

Just when you think they've taken one step forward, you sadly realize they've taken 5 steps back. LOL
You all know the NX is going to be more of the same right? If it has any good ideas, it will somehow be screwed up in the end.

It will probably finely be region free, but it will have some off the wall rules, or techniques that must be used to make it possible, which will make it unusable in the end.

Why can't "N" ever do something with out fuck ing it up in the end?

Forgot about Pokemon Picross. That and Pokemon Shuffle are Nintendo's only microtransaction games that I can think of, so I'm hoping that's more Pokemon Co.'s doing than Nintendo's. I was thinking more along the lines of Strechmo, where you don't get ripped off.
Eh. I play each of those daily and haven't spent a penny. They're fun games and the micro transaction threshold is a good playing time regulator.

--Picross Discussion--
I think the thing to do if you love this genre either buy a book of nonograms... or just visit a website like http://www.nonograms.org/ where they have a boatload of puzzles you can play for free on your computer. Really the website is quite a convenient (and cheap) way to go if you are already on a computer at some point during the day. Plus there are many options out there to keep things fresh. Going back to the old DS game is actually a good thing to do as well since playing these puzzles over again after years of breaks makes them mostly fresh again.

There's also Rumble World, which actually got a micro-transaction free physical relase.

Picross and Rumble World at least has a cap, though. You can't go over $30.

Pokémon Picross is actually quite fun, but it's a pain in the ass to grind since you can only get new Picrites once a day.

I actually do still play Shuffle a lot. Trying to get all the S-ranks can be annoying, especially in that section where they made all these common Pokémon unbelievably difficult.

It's focused more on local play/Streetpass, but you can still download Wii U users' stages if they're either recommended by Nintendo, or the most popular. So all you need is a popular SMB3 level, and you're good.
