A Link to the Past on 3DS VC is $5.60 if you use 240 Nintendo Points on their site to get the discount. I totally got that discount!!!
Me too! Just got a New 3DS and cashed in the Earthbound discount, this one, and plan on getting the Super Metroid discount too. Because rebuying games for the thousandth time is my honor bound duty.

Wow that is exactly what I've been working on today. Did a bunch of dumb Miimoto crap for some coins to get Zelda then I should have enough gold coins for Earthbound and Super Metroid.

It's nice that while the Earthbound discount costs 30 coins you get 10 "back" after buying it. I haven't tried the others so I don't know how many coins they are worth. SNES VC wasn't the main reason I wanted to upgrade to a N3DS but if I can get classics cheap I will. I bought Earthbound on Wii U but even with the gamepad I stand way more of a chance playing it if I can take it on the go. I think I'm already farther in the game on 3DS than I am on Wii U after 2 years...

I ordered a Green Super Mario World New 3DS today and plan to do the same thing with the coupons.

I enjoyed Phantom Hourglass for what it was, although Spirit Tracks was a gazillion times better in every way (except the flute)
I too enjoyed Phantom Hourglass, but Spirit Tracks was the game that killed Zelda for me. It was so bad that I haven't played a Zelda game since, I've bought a few but as soon as I started them up they reminded me how much I hated Spirit Tracks.

It's a shame, because Spirit Tracks had really good writing and design, it was just the train that ruined it. Just getting anywhere was a chore, since you were literally on rails you always had to take the longest slowest path everywhere. And it wasn't helped when the bullshit invincible instant death enemies started prowling the rails, that' when I just had to give up.

Skyward Sword would be perfect for a Wind Waker or Twilight Princess-style HD remaster/remake to give it the best second chance possible.
Hopefully more Wind Waker and less Twilight Princess. Wind Waker they really put some love in to and redid it from the ground up. TP they farmed out and it was a mostly good improvement but also had some graphical and performance issues.

Skyword Sword is an abomination.

Phantom Hourglass is an abomination.

Spirit Tracks is an abomination.
I agree Skyward Sword is garbage, with a terrible gimmick. I hope they never revisit it, so many things in that game simply did not work. My son is a Zelda fanatic, but he really could not even make it through the game. I beat it a while back, and it was a chore, and not because of difficulty.

Phantom Hourglass suffers greatly because of having to go through the same stuff over and over, and some truly obscure puzzles that really were not thought out well. Skyway Sword also suffers from having to keep going back to the same places to do the same things again and again to pad out length.

Spirit Tracks I enjoyed, but definitely not top tier. And not a particularly good example of a Zelda game.

The only Zelda I ever enjoyed was #2.  All the rest of them were balls.  The first one was ok but ridiculously silly if you didn't have Nintendo Power.  #2 was awesome.  Everything a Zelda should be.  And all this new stuff...

Zelda is like Metroid.  They lost themselves somewhere and just can't get back on track.

I 100% completed both remasters and Twilight Princess was fantastic. Probably the most well done remaster I've ever played.

WOW, the spectrum of what Zelda games that where enjoyed and disliked is all over the map around here. LOL

I think my favorite titles have been Links Awakening(Gameboy), The Oracle of Ages/Seasons(Gameboy Color), and a Link To The Past(SNES). These are my most played titles, as I've played each one multiple times over the years(more times than I can remember), and I haven't done that with any of the other titles in the series.

My favorite 3D game would have to be Ocarina of time, as I thought it was a excellent game at first play, and while I did try to replay the 3D version a few years back, I never finished it. Majora's Mask is the only game in the series I never finished, as I absolutely HATE games where time is an issue and your up against a clock. I did think the concept and ideas dealing with "time", where some of the most creative in gaming, so while I hated parts, I also thought it may have been the most creative game in the series. I have the 3D version, but I have yet to try and play it, but I hear it is much improved over the original.

I've liked something in all the 3D games, and disliked some things as well, but the only 3D I truly dislikes was Wind Waker. The only thing I enjoyed there was the graphics, as I found the game to be a complete and utter bore that I had to force myself to finish once the graphic WOW factor wore off.

I found the other 2D/3D handheld games of the GBA and 3DS to be about what most of the 3D games where like, somethings good, and somethings bad, but nothing I hate or love, just decent romps through Hyrule, but nothing I'll ever revisit. I almost didn't finish Phantom Hour Glass for the same reason I gave for MM, but once I really tackled it, the time issue wasn't as bad as I thought, but I still didn't like it, as it was just a way to stretch those temples out.

So in the end, Zelda has been a great series with much to offer, some with the good, and there has been a fair share of bad. Oh, I almost forgot, I haven't finished the Link Between Worlds either, as I'm right at the end, but was trying to find 100% and just got board, but I actually enjoyed that game up to that point(I guess I should finish that when I have the time).

The newest game looks interesting, and considering how long it has been in development, it should be great, but "N" has been so off the rails lately in almost everything they do, I'm not holding my breath, but I'm hopeful.

I 100% completed both remasters and Twilight Princess was fantastic. Probably the most well done remaster I've ever played.
Oh don't get me wrong it was a perfectly fine version and way better than nearly everything else out there calling itself a "remaster". Wind Waker was such a labor of love though and they redid the graphics, reworked the game play, did the whole thing over from scratch more or less. That was an extreme though and we can't realistically expect them to likely spend as much doing a true remaster as a new game could get made for every time they want to cash in our nostalgia.

Got my Birthday Coupon. Interesting to note that it does stack with the sales (though in this case the only overlap is Star Fox Zero, which doesn't interest me a ton).

It's 30% off again, and the games are:

3DS

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon

Super Smash Bros.

Kirby Triple Deluxe

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam

Mario Kart 7

New Super Mario Bros. 2

Puzzle & Dragons Z + Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Bros. Edition

Wii U

Splatoon

Super Mario Maker

New Super Mario Bros. U + New Super Luigi U Bundle

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Star Fox Zero

Yoshi's Story

Pushmo World

My favorite of the Zelda series is easily Link to the Past. After that maybe Ocarina (though haven't played in ages) and I for one loved the Minish Cap even though the story was weak. The gameplay was top notch and I liked the shrinking gimmick. Zelda 1 is really hard to play now (not straightforward at all). I never played past Majora's Mask a bit, so I missed out on all the 3D ones from the gamecube and Wii and now WiiU.

I am 25 hours into Skyward Sword and really enjoy it. My 6 year old son loves watching me play it because he doesn't know how to play it himself. I beat A Link Between Worlds and really loved it but I want to replay it all in 3D like they intended. I'm playing through all Zelda games and am building up my collection. The next game on my to play list on the Wii U is Wind Waker HD and on the 3DS I'll be playing Ocarina of Time. Both will be my first time.

Side note, do any of you think the Fire Emblem GameCube and Wii games will ever make it to the eshop?

I think they eventually do, yes. If Earthbound can make it to the VC, I think these ones can make it one day too. It's actually the reason why I decided to sell my physical copies of them.

The Cyber Deals portion of the sales end tomorrow (Monday) at Noon ET, for those that are putting off purchases until the last hours.

Yup yup. I'm currently setting up and buying those lego games on my kid's Christmas 2DS as we speak. Freaking blue 2DS is pretty sweet, i must say. For some reason it feels better than the regular 2DS that my other kid has.

Ended up buying Kirby: Mass Attack.

Decided to finally look at the My Nintendo rewards this month - I'm tempted to get one of those orchestra videos out of curiosity.

I might as well get all the non-Miitomo rewards; I have plenty of Platinum coins expiring and nothing else to use them on.

..On which to use them. (Sorry, Carol.)

Didn't get my eshop card from best buy's black Friday sale so I guess I'll just get luigis mansion with that or something. Does the eshop typically have good sales around Christmas?

The eshop never has good sales, at least not for any specific time. You'll get a good game on sale here and there, but no rhyme or reason to it.

I need to pick up some classic Nintendo IPS like dark moon, donkey Kong country, Mario kart, et,...
Right now I basically just have a ton of RPGS

sent from my galaxy s6 edge plus using tapatalk on android

There's a new rumor that Dark Souls 3 has been successfully ported to NS and that a DS trilogy is being considered. The release of either one are dependent on the early NS sales data.

not worth it

is

breath of fire

breath of fire 2

and

earthbound

any worth full price

wow part 2 looks like crap and you need the NEW 3ds to run it not sure why
My theory is they did that so people would actually have a reason to upgrade to the New 3ds, and not keep their old one, since, you know, one freaking game isn't enough reason otherwise.

I'm fInding conflicting info online so I figured I'd ask here:

I have a few digital games on my Wii U along with a few VC games. If I trade in my Wii U now, and rebuy one in the future, will I be able to re-download those games from my account?

Not without contacting Nintendo customer support, and maybe not even then.

Technically no, as accounts are tied to the system in question, but I've heard CS can do it, but it's up to their discretian, and isn't 100% for sure. That's probably why your finding yes & no's around the web, as nothing with "N" is ever right or wrong, yes or no, it just depends on your particular situation and who may or may not be willing to make it happen.

The best I can say, is if you buy digital games from them, plan on keeping that system for life, or run the risk of loosing your purchases, as they don't have a unifies account, not officially anyway.

I beat Pokemon Sun a few minutes ago, and all I have to say is "fucking really?" 40 minutes of crap between finishing the final boss, and the ability to save?

since I got the Black Friday 3DS (Is that what we're calling it?) I been finding great deals on the games that Iv'e wanted to play. I refuse to spend more than $25 on a 3ds game. Now I just need to get my hands on Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds at a good price. Hopefully they'll have it on sale soon.

Best Buy has a buy one get one 40% off next week for Wii U and 3DS games (maybe only Nintendo published games?). Two $40 games would come out to about $25 each ($51.20 total) if you have GCU. The only exceptions are Mario Maker 3DS and the new Pokemons.

Yeah it's Nintendo published games only.

I've read a lot of info on this. There seem to be two camps... one, where you simply call customer service and have the old system unlinked from your account. The second way involves waiting till you get a new system and calling customer service then, for this option you'll need the new system online and ready to sign in to eshop so they can link it up to the new account for you. Either way You will need some info... purchase history, last 4 of CC (if you have one tied to the account), user name, email address associated with your NNID, then basic personal info like name & date of birth. For the second option you'll also (obviously) need the Serial Number of the new system. You may need the serial number of the old system for option 1.

I personally would go for option 1 of calling now, so you can hopefully get this all done while you remember it. Once you have the info you need from the old system you can format it and sell it off. Even if the ID isn't unlinked from the old system, the software purchases are tied to your NNID so if the system is formatted the new owner shouldn't see your purchases since they are tied to your NNID and not the actual system.

This is feedback I found that seemed the most helpful.

Earlier this year I had to sell my Wii U among other things, because of some late bills, no food because (problems at work, my mom passed away on September 2013, etc.).

I remembered unliking the NNID because I knew the other option was to delete the ID, and I knew I'd get a Wii U at some point again (Smash, Bayonetta 2, etc.).

So, that point was yesterday. Got a Wii U but wasn't able to set it until 2AM today, update went smoothly, and by 4AM everything was set. But trying to link the ID wasn't possible as it still was linked to the other console. Basically, the unlink option just suspends the ID on that console to avoid been used by others, it doesn't remove the link per se.

So, I called them at 10:30AM, explained that I wanted to remove the link on that console to use it on the new console. Was asked my name, username, date of birth, email and serial number of the new Wii U. Then I had to connect the new console to the eShop so that their system recognized it and it did while we talked. Was also asked for 5 games on that account, he confirmed them. And was finally told that by 2 days, the account should be able to be used on the new console. That an email with instructions on what to do next would be sent the moment it was ready.

When he mentions that he unlinked his ID from the old system, he didn't call and unlink it. He only deleted the local user.

I have read in AU though that just removing the local account does remove the WiiU from your NNID after 24 hours... but there's not enough feedback I could find to suggest this is true let alone that this is currently possible in NA or other regions. So go with calling in to be sure it's done right.
