Yup, don't expect anything made by or published by Nintendo themselves to go on sale for more than 20% off (there are some rare instances where you can get 30% off)

Most everything else is kind of a crapshoot. There are times where we can go months without any real good deals popping up, at least not ones that generally appeal to everyone.

Finding sales on physical Nintendo games is kind of the same, unless it's a Nintendo Selects title or a particular store has a broad sale that affects all games.

Does anyone know what happened to Futuridium EP Deluxe for 3DS.  I tried looking it up and I can't find it on the eShop or Nintendo's website.  I tried searching about it and all I could find was it was removed in November apparently, no explaination why, only 2 months after it was released.  Any plans for this to come back to the eShop?

I looked for this game based on the nintendolife review for the WiiU and couldnt find it- I chalked it up to prob only being an overseas release or whatever but interesting.

 
Ugh I just realized that the wiiU version of Breath of the Wild will require a 3Gb install. Guess I'll have to finally get an external drive for it. I'd delete a digital game to make room, but I have a feeling that once the switch is out Nintendo will quickly sweep the wiiU under the rug and remove its online capabilities within the next year.

The Wii shop channel is still a thing even, so you should be fine. Plus the Switch is confirmed to also use the "eShop" and NNID from Wii U/3DS, so I would imagine it will still be supported for quite a while. No reason for it not to be.

You can also just stick some stuff you don't play on a thumb drive temporarily, as well. As long as you're not playing it off of the drive, you shouldn't run into any issues. I did that for quite a while.

The only news story I read about it said something about a license being expired and the publisher of the game had not commented on the removal from the eshop last I read. Would have liked to pick it up and play it in 3D but I guess that won't be happening.

 
Is it likely that Wii and Wii U games will become eshop releases for the Switch? Trying to figure out if I should buy a Wii U or not, but I won't if some/most games will get released on the Switch.

 
Wii games might be a possiblilty if they can be emulated on Virtual console (you'll probably still need Wii Remotes). But I don't think the NS will be either powerful enough to emulate Wii U games or be able to replicate the GamePad.

Full-priced ports (a la MK8 and BotW) seem more likely to me, but then it'd only make sense to release the bigger, more profitable games.

Finally took a dive into Paper Mario Color Splash when it hit $39.99 on Amazon last week. I am so glad that I did. What a fun game with tons of content for the completionist. I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews that I've seen heavily disparaging the game. The common theme of most of the reviews seemed to be "it sucks, its not TTYD 2" and "waaahhh, the battle controls are cumbersome."

The battle controls might be a smidge cumbersome, but IMO no where near the death blow of the game that many reviewers would have you believe. Overall, it is a very creative game with a real sense of humor and playfulness. I chuckled to myself many times and I am only through a small part of the game. Trust me ... I am the last person to ever generally laugh at jokes in video games. So if it amuses me, that really says something. If you haven't played it yet, this last week before Breath of the Wild comes out might be a good chance to mop it up.

Didn't Spirit of Justice just have it's first sale about 2 months ago for 20% I believe? This is pretty good, but I'm holding out for 50%, as I'm still pissed off in regards to lack of these games being physical.

I bought DD at full price when it was released, and Capcom all buy lied in regards to making physical happen. So while I'm happy they released this is in the states, I'm not giving them full price again, it's 50% or bust.

 
It looks like some places are getting the Switch in. The stock for launch at most of them appears to be way better than the NES Classic
 
Putting Shovel Knight on sale before it increases in price with the Switch launch is pretty nice... but they know damn well I want that game on my Switch.

I've never played SK, is it worth waiting for the Switch version? There's a $15 difference in price that to me doesn't seem worth it but maybe there's something I don't know.

Only if you want it on the Switch. Otherwise, get it now at the lower price from whichever system you prefer. This version will automatically become the version they're releasing on the Switch, it's just coming out on the Switch first.

Right now what you get is Shovel Knight, with an optional character/story mode where you can play as Plague Knight. You play through pretty much the same game, just with a character that controls much differently. The new update coming out however has new completely remade levels and another new character, Specter Knight. With this new update, they're making it so you can buy all of the different versions together or separately. All previous purchases become the new "combined" version for free. Like I said, it'll just be available on the Switch first before the other versions update.

Also they're still releasing ANOTHER new character mode, a mode where you can swap the genders of any of the knights in the game, and a battle mode where you can play with friends. All for free.

The higher price is still a great price for the amount/quality of content. But at $10 it is an absolute steal.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that some of these features are only gonna be available on console versions, and not Vita/3DS.

I got to see the Switch demo station we're gonna be setting up later.

The joycons are unbelievably tiny, as in i swear they hired people with the smallest hands they could find to show them off so they looked bigger

  • Standalone Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment is also a 3/3 launch title for $9.99
The Wii U and 3DS updates to add Specter of Torment campaign, and co-op for Wii U, will be out in April. The prices of those versions will increase to $24.99 in March after the sale is over, so buy them now if you're interested or forever wait for a better deal that may not ever happen.

 
So is it normal for Phoenix Wright games to go on sale every 3 months?

I still want DD and SoJ (and maybe even the trilogy for the right price). But with my backlog, I can definitely keep waiting until they're 9.99 or less lol

No, probably not for that difference in price. If you have one, get it for the XB1 or a Sony platform. The XB1 has a really great Battletoads level and boss fight. The Sony platforms have a Kratos boss fight included, it is decent but not as good as the Battletoads which implements the pit and speeder bike levels. Both are accessed the same way. The WiiU advantage was co-op, but that will be available for all soon. The WiiU and 3DS (and presumably the Switch) have Amiibo support for the Shovel Knight Amiibo, where instead of finding items you level up your Amiibo to gain new abilities and stats.

The only reason to get the Switch version (beyond if that is your only option or simply want another game for your new console) is if you want an early access to Specter Knight, the patch for other platforms won't be out until April. But, if you haven't played it yet, Shovel Knight and Plague Knight campaigns will give you plenty to do for that month wait.

Yeah I'm surprised the stock is looking to be so good for the Switch. Still, I got in on that quick Prime only offer for the NES Classic yesterday so unless I see a Switch at launch in a normal store (I'll probably hit Walmart and a local GS)... then I'll wait till the second or third wave of hardware hits. Still, I'm tempted to just get Zelda now for that prime discount.

The game is great... but it's hardcore classic platforming. So if that's your thing just get it for whatever hardware platform you play the most. Personally, the game is so good I ended up getting it physical on WiiU, 3DS & Vita... as well as the digital crossbuy version on PSN for Vita/PS3/PS4. Shovel Knight was also my first amiibo figure as well... and I'm not into collecting/buying amiibos at all! There are very few games I've ever bought multiple times like that. Usually I pick a platform and stick with it for specific game series.

Yeah, I'm expecting that to happen about that time as well. When it reaches 50%, I'll see where I'm at in the series, and if I'm close to finishing DD, I'll get SoJ for 50%. If I've still got a few games to finish, I'll wait on the 60% as well.

I'm currently playing AAI2, then I'm on to Layton/Wright, then DD and last SoJ.
