Also, I played ARMS for first time yesterday, I was impressed, but I don't see myself playing it. I encourage everyone to try it out.
Yeah if it was $20 I would have been all over it but it's just never been cheap enough. Loved the throw a bunch of people in a lobby and just randomly match them up thing. Makes it feel a lot less intimidating to just jump in and play multiplayer than in most fighting games and would be neat to see some other games copy that. The controls though just didn't quite work for me. Clearly designed for the motion controls which had some huge advantages but then I didn't feel like I could move effectively or it would mess up my punches. Conversely the traditional controls felt a bit clumsy in areas but were a lot easier to move with. If they had some kind of hybrid system where I could still use the stick on the joy-con to move with the motion controls that probably would have been the sweet spot for me.

Just throwing it out there but I bought Devious Dungeon after seeing it was on sale and boy am I glad. It's great on Switch. Controls like it was meant to be on console and is super addicting.

If you've loaded your Wii/Wii U with Wii points for the Wii Shop Channel, and you are considering purchasing Neo Geo games, you may want to reconsider that decision.

Many (but not all) of the games on the Wii Shop Channel were also on the Samurai Shodown Anthology, Metal Slug Anthology, and SNK Arcade Classics Vol 1 for Wii (and PS2). Also, many Neo Geo games are on or are coming to the Nintendo Switch. And many of those games were once only available on the Wii Shop Channel in Japan.

For example, Waku Waku 7 was on the Wii Shop Channel in Japan, but not the USA/EUR version. However, now Waku Waku 7 is available around the world on Nintendo Switch.

Also, all Neo Geo games are $1 cheaper on the Switch vs. the Wii Shop Channel.

If there is a game you REALLY want on your Wii/Wii U from the Neo Geo, then go for it. But know that many of them may be available on a more cost effective platform. Do you research to see how to get your favorite games at the right price!

Picked up xeodrifter and devious dungeon. Anyone have thoughts on Blossom Tales? Looks fantastic. I’m assuming it plays a lot like nes/snes Zelda.

Here's my video for Spellspire:

So I just bought Letter Quest and my wife loves it. I noticed this one which is very similar. Have you tried Letter Quest?

I just subscribed to your channel so I'll watch your review later.

Bought Devious Dungeon last night based on all the chatter here. I played for like ten minutes and got bored. It is decent for a phone game that you pick up for like 1 minute but I am spoiled with such great content on the Switch that experiences like this one just fall short by comparison. Here is to hoping we just get Rogue Legacy soon haha

Is xeodrifter like Cave Story? I got bored with Cave Story real quick but I'm interested in xeodrifter for the price.

In the sense that they are both 2d platformers, they are similar, but I don't think the games have a lot in common. Xeodrifters is a much smaller scale game. I didn't care for the feeling of the movement in Xeodrifters, or the developer's other game Mutant Mudds. That's the kiss of death for me for a platformer.

Depends on what you want out of the service. On Wii hardware (doesn't work when using Wii mode on Wii U), it's apparently the only platform that outputs Neo Geo games in their native resolution since most platforms have to scale up or down with approximate pixels. For most people, Switch is probably best, but video output on the Wii VC is genuinely unmatched.

I never bought any Neo Geo titles on Wii, but I'm guessing they don't have the additional features that HAMSTER brought over to their modern ports, like Japanese & American versions of each game, leaderboards, fully customizable button layout, and also that Switch as support for arcade sticks. I'm assuming it would take more work to get an arcade stick working on a Wii.

Like I said, it really depends on what you want out of the service. If you want arcade/hardware perfect on a CRT as intend, Wii is good for obsessives. Features people are used to from emulators, modern ports are honestly best for most people.

Though oddly enough, I only just recently learned that Master System games on Wii VC actually did offer a surprising level of customization options

OT BUT
iPad Pro 9.7” (2016; A9X)
VERSUS
NEW iPad 9.7” (2018;A10)
I mainly am into music(all aspects, recording in garage band o logic, listening , etc)
Seems to me iPad Pro is better if you’re looking for a little higher quality or better standard feature (obviously not cpu)

The A10X vs a9X is not a huge difference so should I get the iPad Pro if I can get it for the same price as the new iPad?

Unless you want the keyboard smart connector on the iPad Pro, probably go with the NEW iPad. And I'm not sure how easily you can find the old 9.7" smart connector keyboards nowadays. I have the 2017 10.5" iPad Pro and it is exquisite with the better screen and higher refresh rate. Using the Apple Pencil is like drawing with pen & paper.

U know man, I checked all over online for a head to head and it doesn’t exist

So I did it myself, and I , you, and the Apple guy all think I want the 10.5” but it’s double what I’m paying for the 9.7

What it boils down to is the iPad Pro is better in every way (except the newer chips),from sound, to visual, to overall performance and quality...

The chips only slightly improved over the 9x (its the A10 , not the a10x which would be indeed quite different)

He said if you can get the Pro for same price get the Pro...I found one for $400 brand new....so thanks for inout

(Versus $500 brand new iPad 2018)

That's a very good point about the sound, the stereo speaks are really good on the Pro. I've changed my opinion, if you can get a 9.7" for $400 that's the best way to go!

There are trade offs for sure, but virtual console games on Wii do output native resolution and look/play remarkably authentic when paired with a CRT tv. And arcade sticks were pretty easy to find in their time for Wii... I have a pair of hori sticks that I picked up at the tail end of the wii's life for around $15/ea

With all that said... between Tate mode, portability, and faux scanlines, any retro digital games I spend $$ on for the time being will almost certainly be on switch, but I certainly won't be disconnecting the Wii from the old crt in the game room anytime soon either.

Decided to skip on Blossom Tales. 10% discount is not enough considering there's over a 10% chance I won't ever play it due to backlog...

Yeah I have reached a point where my backlog is so big that it makes more sense to just play what I have until there is either a drastic price drop or it is a game I would put at the top of my queue like Hollow Knight

There might be a few more still available directly on the eShop itself.

The Wii U eShop no longer lists end dates for anything that's on sale, so I'm just not going to guess anymore and will just remove games from the OP as I see them disappear. If you needed a sign that Nintendo doesn't care about the Wii U anymore, this is a big one.

Man, Penny Pinching Princess is pricier than I would have predicted.
$40 seems to be the way of independent developers that are putting out physical releases. Guess they don't want people only buying digital and leaving the physical editions sitting on the shelves to rot, so they don't give it a discount on eShop.

NISA isn't an indie developer. They're a pretty big publisher of JRPGs and such.

WTF is Disgaea even. Damn indie games.

A bad choice of words on my part. I was thinking of them more in the broad sense of the word independent. Just a really big independent company (until a big megacorp buys them up).

I'm bad at explaining games. The graphics look crappy, but the gameplay is very fun and there is a lot of content. The writing can be funny, but there are some errors in the translation (I beta tested the Xbox version and recommended some changes to translation, so maybe it is fixed.)

Anyone played the longest five minutes the game looks interesting
Yes. I got a review copy just before release and I enjoyed the game. It's like an RPG that cuts out the grinding. IIRC, it took me about 20 hours for full completion (all bonus objectives/endings).

According to the description page for the Jackbox party pack, you’re supposed to get a 20% discount if you already own the second or third packs. But I’m still seeing the “regular” sale price of $16.24. So it looks like the extra 20% discount does not apply. 😢
I’m sure I’ll double dip anyway, but I was looking to get it for less than $15 since I already bought it for $10 on PSN.

Those sort of deals are just off MSRP, not any price, so they're only useful if you need to buy them ASAP when they're not on sale.

Anyone play and enjoy FAST RMX?  Been waiting for a sale that hasn't happened and I'm thinking of just plunking down the $20 on it.
