I just checked out the gamexplain live stream and Mario Kart will not download. Says it's not out yet. So he bought Welcome tour instead even though he said he had no plans to do so. Ouch!

Anyone got theirs yet? The new joycons and pro controller feel awesome. Did not get to put the dpad through its paces yet, but I never had a problem with the revised Switch pro controller dpad

I tested a random game that didn't get a patch, Pokemon Let's Go Eevee, and it runs substantially better. Load times are way faster and it holds a constant frame rate in the menus and in heavy areas where it normally chugs, like Viridian Forest

Dude the plastic on the pro controller feels so nice, very premium feeling. Also the special audio on the system in handheld is very nice, probably the best speakers I've heard on a handheld before. Mostly everything is downloading at the moment so haven't had much time to mess around with games yet, will dig in a lot tomorrow. Also very excited to see how Zelda echoes plays as I had to put that one down since the frame rate was giving me a headache on switch. Might finally play Pokemon Violet too.

HDR looks terrible on OLED. Washed out blacks. Looks like playing Bethesda games that have broken HDR. Will play with it more tomorrow to see what's up.
The dock feels really flimsy.

I mean if you are still shopping at GameStop, what else do you expect?

Encouraging news. I'll try out some games later today when I pick up my console. XC2 and Rune Factory 5 come to mind as ones that really suffered on nsw1.

Its very much due to Nintendo stock piling versus not enough demand.

I tend to agree. I assume they were bracing for the worst with imports at the time of their launch announcement and were conservative with numbers, and then found find things to "not as bad as they could be" over the last month, and so they probably shipped as many into the US as physically possible during this window.

Digital or Physical? I'm assuming physical copies wont get faster load times but i hope im wrong

My oldest son is about to come by my office to grab my CC and hit the main walmart I shop at. One of his friends went to get a Switch 2 this morning and they had around 20 in the case. Also, I'm having him get me one of the 512GB Onn EXPRESS cards. I might have him grab a pro 2 controller as well since I will want one.

Maybe this launch is going to be better than I figured it would be.

After the gamestop midnight launch (took me about 30 minutes) I went over to best buy to hang with a friend in line there. There was easily 400 people just for the midnight launch between pre orders and walk ups. The walk up line wrapped around the building. This is definitely the most well stocked console launch I've ever seen and scalpers are probably struggling. Hopefully everyone who wants one is able to get one.

Haven't had a ton of time to play yet, but another thing is the eShop is SO much more snappy. Everything loads quickly. I basically stopped going on the eShop on switch because it was so damn slow.

I updated my Switch and now I can't game share with my friend anymore. I turned on the online license like I was told but I'm getting a message telling me cannot play that software with an online license. It can be purchased from Nintendo shop. I sent him a text and he says he didn't change anything. What in the world is going on? He didn't update because you stated he didn't have to. Maybe he does need to update?

Look the game up on the eshop. It might be one that can't be shared anymore? Also, if I'm wrong about the other person needing to update or not... you still have to update if you ever want to game share anyway. They still have to do it to play your games (assuming you even buy games and aren't just a leach). So if all else fails, they may need to update.

On Reddit people are talking about buying one for them and one for their wives. wtf? I make a damn good living and i can’t drop $1000 on two switches.

Paying my house off, I can buy a couple swtich 2's a week and still buy food and pay my bills. Finally there's a benefit to getting old. I'm now starting to see why so many old guys had Corvettes and stuff when I was younger. It's not just a midlife crisis, it's like... ok I have this money and my retirement is secured so... maybe I should have more toys and enjoy life?

I'm less than a decade or so away from zero debt.

I've been there previously, no car note and just rent, but now home eats large chunks, more so when you buy one that hasn't had modernization and repairs for awhile.

The funny thing is that people think pricing complaints are based upon whether you have the cash, whereas most wealthy folks are the most frugal MFers you'll find.

On topic, the eShop not being a laggy piece of garbage sounds great. Is it actually any better to browse beyond speed, though? Most console stores suck, but the eShop was uniquely terrible and I pretty much relied on DekuDeals and using my desktop.

My only debt is my mortgage which is substantial but my rate is sub 3% so I’m lucky. But having it over my head is crazy.

I would say it's more or less the same store, haven't been on the regular switch store in a little while. But for example if you go to the deals page on switch you'd have to wait to load a new page of games, on switch 2 you can scroll endlessly without it having to load. It will also play a trailer for the game if you stay on it it without having to click on it. Overall just a much better experience of the store that was there previously. There's a "For You" tab that I don't remember being there where they recommend games based on your taste.

From what I can gather, the Mario Kart bundle was an insanely more popular seller. Even though reports had some stores receiving them in 3:1 ratios compared to the base model, almost all Target stores around here are sold out of the Mario Kart bundle according to 'check stores' in the listing. Meanwhile, I can just walk into a store at 9:41am, there's no one here, and a couple dozen of the base model easily obtainable. Mass quantities of the base model at all stores according to the listing.

So much so that I believe it was closer to 1.5 : 1. for Target at least.

I told you guys this thing was going to be easy to find. I have a bunch of targets within 15 miles of me and according to the app, the Mario Kart bundle in stock at all of them. Other users on reddit and other places are posting similar things about their local Gamestop, BB and Walmarts and even Costco. Also remember that Staples also them.

Well, before I went into a meeting my oldest son showed up and got my card. While I was in the meeting he was able to get me one of the last 2 MKW bundles and a pro controller. I guess i should have bought the 512GB card when I was in Walmart a couple days ago as they were sold out. But I can live with the internal storage for now. I don't intend on overloading this thing anyway.

I honestly can't believe I'm a launch day owner. I figured I'd have to wait a few weeks for restocks. Nintendo managed to control things pretty well and stockpile enough and did enough to help minimize scalping... it's like they learned. It's also kind of cool to see the gaming community hyped over something again.

Beyond setting it up and playing some MKW, one thing I do want to test is the difference between physical and digital on both the original switch and switch 2. I don't have many games in duplicate like that but I have a few and I'm really curious how much improvement there is. I'm sure others are probably already testing things too, but this is something I wanted to do just for fun anyway. I will make sure the digital versions are using internal storage and any updates for physical are also using internal storage on the original switch.

This mouse thing is actually pretty cool, how snappy it is, very Nintendo of them to add something weird like that to this console. Hopefully they find some ways to integrate it more. Would love to see Mario Paint come back to this thing, or a Mario Paint 2 with a whole bunch of weird minigames in it. I could see the mouse being really useful for a Mario Maker 3 game with building courses.

It would be so good for the next Mario Maker

My husband works, I do not. We have our house paid off, bought 2 cars cash last year and are going on a trip to Japan soon (flying in business class). I do not budget. I want something, I buy it. We’re probably pretty high upper middle class but not upper class since we are not at a point where we could enjoy this life without his paycheck.

Game Builder Garage had mouse support even on Switch 1 and is the same team that made Maker I believe. so if we do get a Maker 3 (i sure hope so), i think it's a shoe-in we'll get mouse

Wish I was pretty high.

Since we are talking home ownership for some reason, I live in Southern California so the chances of me ever owning a house here are pretty much 100% never going to happen. I would need to move to some cheap state like Nebraska or Kansas or Tennessee and just be miserable for the rest of my life but at least I'd be in a house right? Yeah I don't really care about materialistic things so I'll just likely rent forever if it means I get to live in the place with some of the best weather on the planet. Not the United States, the entire planet. Let alone all the things there are to do here and all the beautiful nature. I'll put all of those hundreds of thousands of dollars in my ROTH IRA and individual account.

Enjoying Mario Kart World, but wish there was more direction while in free roam. Seems like you just wander around until you find a P switch or question mark on the wall. Maybe I'm missing something but seems kinda empty just exploring around. Knockout tour is great though, really enjoying that new mode. Donkey Kong being an unlockable character and not available from the start was also strange.

I'm having fun just imagining all the "content creators" sweating in their boots right now, trying to test out and review everything. It's hard 2 b 1st. 😭
We should get some pretty good cream rising to the top pretty quick. some interesting and provocative reveals and exposures. some stories gonna break this week. What were they hiding (behind launch blackout)?? What are the high quality gems in the rough? There will be blood.
