Nintendo might be doing something about Kid Icarus: Uprising's CPP compatibility.

CAGiversary!
I called 1-800-255-3700 and spoke with a representative and told him that Kid Icarus: Uprising's box has the "Circle Pad Pro Compatible" branding on it, but there is absolutely no mention on how to set it up in the instruction manual or in the 'Options' menu in the game.

He thoroughly looked through all of his paperwork on his end and found practically nothing, except for a little mention that the game has an alternative control scheme for lefties. He asked me if I had another game that was compatible with the accessory and to try it out and tell him what shows up, so I used my demo of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D and told him that it specifically has a row in 'Options' dedicated to Circle Pad Pro functionality, and after enabling it results in a calibration screen; none of which are in Kid Icarus: Uprising.

After he looked over his notes again, he came to the conclusion that Nintendo would have to update the game, and make sure that Kid Icarus: Uprising has the advertised features, so he wrote up a report about his findings and had it sent to the debug crew and told me that it will definitely be looked into.

Hopefully they actually do something about it. I'm shocked that the game is capable of being updated, despite Nintendo's stance on that sort of thing.

Hm, I'll have to test this out later. Nintendo has been advertising that you can use the CPP on it a lot on TV, and it would suck it if didnt work with the CPP right out of the box.

The 3DS already supports DLC addons for games, so patching a game isn't surprising.

There'd have to be enough complaints/call-ins in order for something to get done, though. Regardless, there should always be a re-calibration screen, and there is nothing regarding the Circle Pad Pro in the game at all. They screwed up on this one.

thats only if they plan ahead of time.

Hopefully, if they do some kind of update, they make it so the CPP can be used as an alternative to the stylus. Control Pit w/ the left circle pad, aim the cursor with the right circle pad.

& yeah, it's meant to be for lefties, so the person can control Pit w/ the CPP, then use the stylus with their left hand.

@zonic505

She's right. I went to WonderCon this past weekend and the Nintendo rep said the circle pro pad is for lefty only.

I don't think the game would work very well with dual analog. It really does seem designed for the quick response and accuracy of the stylus input. The flick to turn isn't ideal, but I don't see how anyone could complain about the accuracy of the aiming using the stylus.

Comfort of use is a whole other thing. it just seems like from the two stages i've played that it's designed around the snappy response of the stylus for aiming and using a CPP for aiming would be hard to manage in the chaos of some of the battles.

I think your stance is for competitive play only (which is entirely useless unless there is money involved). I would just want to be able to play the game comfortably and don't care about the online competitive scene or rankings, and a second analog stick would definitely be more accurate than 2/3 of the control options already available in the game anyway.

But the supposed update wouldn't be to incorporate dual-analog support. I think it would just be for a re-calibration screen and to assure customers that the game does include the feature as to not commit false advertising.

No, I just think the single player is designed around the quick and accurate aiming with the stylus. Enemies move very quickly in the ground sections and are very fast moving and leave the screen quickly in the on rails sections.

It is designed very differently from a star fox, or even sin and punishment 2.

I think using a circle pad to aim would be much more frustrating in single player. It lacks the accuracy and speed with which to track enemies this game was designed for.

CPP support was kind of added at the last minute from what I've heard. I doubt anymore functionality will be added, because the team who made KI:U is now working on Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U.

I also agree that I don't think Dual Analog would work very well for this game, especially because of the dodge mechanic, which is very finnicky on the Circle Pad.
