nintendo power,game informer,Xbox magazine

I'm subscribed to OXM. I like it because of the free handout demos each month, but mainly because I got a subscription back in 2002 ( I think ) when they showcased Halo 2.
I rank them like this:
1. EGM
2. Game Informer
3. OXM
4. OPM

456. Nintendo Propaganda...I mean, Power
How can you hate np but list oxm and opm as good mags? They're all made to favor a certain system.
I like Game Informer the best but my all-time favorite magazine by far was GameFan (too bad they're not around anymore).
Ya, gamefan would be mine to, well that or nintendo power. Overal I'd say nintendo power though, due to that sales booklet they used to have (bought a dkc competition cart for 20 bucks).

kinda tough to say...all game magazines suck for one reason or another. i look forward to reading Play the most each month. though they are far from perfect, I like their style and insights the best. Game Informer seems to be the most fair weather with no unique insights and general praise for anything that would appeal to the mass market, though it is well written and sometimes genuinely funny. stopped reading EGM and Gamepro when I was younger...and I don't care for Official mags unless they have a good demo packed in.

i got 2 free nintendo power samples and i'm expecting one more and i then received a deal for 12 magazines for 12 dollars. the free samples hasn't convinced me to pay 12 dollars. are there any deals for Official Playstation magazine?

I dont read OXM since i dont have an XBox. Nintendo Power is terrible and GI is pretty good. In my opinion EGM may be the best, but it seems like they've been a bit lazy lately (i miss the preview section)

I love the GI features of upcoming games, those always interest me

He probably hates it because it has poorly written reviews that only tell you about the games features instead of what the reviewer thinks of the game, there is nothing very interesting in the magazine, and 99% of all the big news that NP has in it is in almost every other game magazine. OXM and OPM are actually decent mags, my fav is OPM.

All of those suck IMO. NP and GI used to be good many moons ago, but OXM always sucked balls. Actually, all gaming magazines today suck. Most of them (except for GamePro and OXM) used to have at least good quality, but over the years they've all gradually deteriorated into shit. EGM was holding out for a while, but over the past couple of years they too have gone down the toilet.

I subscribe to PSM and Nintendo power, nintendo power is pretty horrible but it could be much worst, their new format is pretty nice. As for PSM, for the money its well worth it.

I think Game Informer is the best because of the world exclusive previews they have almost every month.
OXM is ok. The only reason I get it is for the demos.
Nintendo Power was pretty bad, but I think it got better now that they changed the format.

What's the point of the R.I.P. sign in the OP? I had nearly thought that all of these magazines had gone under like the ones from last year. Anyway, I'll give my choice later.

I'm one of those few people that actually liked Nintendo Power. I wasn't afraid to be a pleasant, almost cute little magazine.

But now they've completely changed it, and it basically sucks. Bleh.

Videogame magazines will never be as good as the used to be. Early GameFan, or as they originally were called, Diehard Gamefan, was great. Looking back at it, it really evokes the feeling of games at the time. The magazine was fun and messy and sloppy looking, but you could tell that the writers really were hardcore game players. Ahh...old times, old times.

yeah, i remember when EGM kept topping it's self in size around the time SF2 came out for the Snes. forgot what the biggest issue was...I just remember it being like an inch or 2 thick  nowadays mags are like 100 pages if yer lucky.

Of the current US magazines, I'd rate Play first, followed by EGM. Those other three really don't even come close.

I was subscribed to NP for many years quite a while ago. I used to love reading it back when it had the Mario/Zelda comics, The Epic Center, and the game coverage was actually pretty damn good too. I used to fill out those contest cards they had in the back every single month although I never won a single thing from any of them. Like many others, I renewed my subscription a while back to get the Zelda Collectors Edition, but I just didn't like the new format of the mag so I didn't continue with my subscription.

All I really pick up today is OXM every month. I don't even read the mag, I just grab it for the demo disc.

Edge magazine is the official best magazine i have ever read on gaming, hardly any ads, and a serious look at every game

Personally I like EGM the most (3-reviewer format, decent not-too-biased reviews).

Nintendo Power, PSM and the other "we are devoted to one system" mags are all terribly biased and score tilted IMO. I will see PSM hand an 8/10 to a game that everyone else gives like a 5-6/10.

GameFan was my favorite as well; get Play Magazine though - it's basically the successor to GameFan with the exact same editors and format but nicer quality paper and pictures, the same generous (grin) reviews, and special attention to 2D gaming and anime.

I used to subscribe to Ultra GamePlayers back in the day, really liked it. Now though, I subscribe to OPM and OXM for the demos only...and Game Informer because it came with my GameStop card. I think GI is pretty good, nice previews and I enjoy the look back to older consoles and games.
