Best Buy in Temecula, CA. was advertising they had the Switch in stock yesterday when I went to pick up Mario Kart 8.

Inventory definitely seems to be more prominent over the last couple of weeks, at least in the area I live.

Ultimate need?

You mean like air, food and water?
Seriously. And if you consider gaming desires to be "needs", you pretty much can't get a better example of "good game" than Breath of the Wild. If that cannot convince you that you want a particular console, then nothing will do so. Being able to play it on the go is amazing, and now they have the framerate ironed out it is clearly superior to the WiiU version. Mario Kart is also a significant upgrade, it looks much crisper, it is smoother and the battle mode is fantastic.

Careful, you are dangerously close to saying that sales = quality, and I doubt that is your intention.
No where near saying that. My comment was pretty straight forward. Don't try to add any underlying things that aren't there. He used people liking Knack as an insult. I just stated it has it's fans. They actually went out and bought it apparently and it's developer was confident enough in that fanbase to make a sequel. Where did I ever bring up its quality? Which is subjective btw?

Too bad the PS4 is such a crappy console.

Care to elaborate Why?
Don't feed the Trolls.

Every system has it's own uses (for me). XBOs is basically a giant media center. Since it plays 4K, it's all hooked up for Netflix and whatnot.

PS4 is my gaming system. I prefer games on it. For the most part, it's usable interface. (XBL, however, interface blows... everytime they "make it better" it's really just a massive downgrade. Terrible UI and can't ever find what I'm looking for)

Switch is now my go to when I want quick pick up and play things. I play, dock it, play on the TV, then when I wanna watch TV, undock and keep going.

My Vita was sold as it no longer retains any use. And my 3DS is just gathering dust. That might change but neither DQVIII or SoS:TT captured my attention. (and MH:Gen felt like a giant letdown compared to MH4U)

I've got the PS4/VR, X1, and the Switch and none of them suck. It's weird to see people expend so much effort into arguing with others when everything is a matter of preference, and each console won't appeal to everyone. MS and Sony offer pretty similar experiences, with their own exclusives that make each system worth it, and the Switch is great for the first party Nintendo games. If their sales of the console ever slow they can announce a new Pokemon and people will flip their shit and sales will go through the roof again.

Told myself I'd wait until virtual console announcements or until Mario came out- but I caved and bought one on amazon the other day. Then I canceled that order since it wouldn't arrive before the weekend and went and picked one up at target along with Mario Kart and then downloaded Kamiko.

I'm loving this thing! Say what you want, but I'm loving the tech, the OS, everything. Super smooth. I don't know why I didn't get one sooner.

Not sure how anyone can love this bare bones OS. You can't even interact with friends, and having to select "who is playing?" every time you boot up a game, or store, is annoying.

I figure a lot of that stuff will come eventually but the fact remains that I have a PS3 still setup right below the dock & a PS4 in my room, along with GF automatically having Chromecast on it now & an old Roku in a box somewhere. I have so many media platforms that it's mind numbing. I wanted a pure gaming machine that's portable, and that's what I got. I love it.

I was originally going to wait for Mario and just buy the games I wanted along the way. I got Zelda before the 20% Prime discount ended. Then I just happened to check brickseek and all caution went out the window as one local store had them that day.

Like you, I love this little system. The tech is great and it works. The OS is so quick to boot up and so simple. I have 4 profiles setup so my kids have their own saves and stuff. I'm glad I just went all in on the system. It'll be hell to get one when Mario comes out. All the issues with the system don't appear to have extended beyond the launch systems and accessories. So no screen scratches, no wireless issue...etc... it's just a super solid system.

What is even stranger for me... I always thought of the Switch as a portable first since for the last few years I've mostly played portable systems... but I've played most of the time with the system as a console. That said, Zelda has eaten all of my time. I had kind of been on the outs with the series over the last few years but this is easily one of the best games of my life. I don't want it to end and I'm glad I have some DLC on it's way to extend the experience.

I saw a box of switches being opened in the wild (walmart) late last night and being loaded into the glass shrine.  I missed the nes classics at that store by a day, and think I may have even had a shot at that store if I went there when brickseek showed them if it was the same process, but of course they all disappeared after midnight.  This is at least the 4th time I have been in position to buy a switch in the past month though.  I think the shortage is coming to an end.

Like someone else said, because it's bare. Would I like trophies and better (or any) matching/friends/online chat? Sure. But my PS4 does that wonderfully and I haven't touched it in weeks- and I have some phenomenal games for it that I have yet to even open.

Maybe it's because I don't have the time anymore. I'm exhausted all the time (new parent woo hooo) and don't have hours to sit down on the big tv and play the PS4. Even the vita hasn't gotten much use in a long while.

Firing up Mario Kart and playing against a friend in battle mode for 30 minutes with almost no sound on the other day was some of the best gaming I've had in a long while.

My local target had at least a half dozen switches in stock around 230 today. I finally bit the bullet and grabbed one with Zelda now I'm broke. I'm such a fucking idiot. Is Mario kart deluxe worth the upgrade?

I've only had enough time to put in 2-3 battle mode matches but that certainly is. The abortion that was battle mode in the Wii U has been fixed, can't comment on the actual races.

If you've never played MK8, then yeah. But as someone who played hundreds of hours of the last one, I can't really go back to it. Battle mode is fun, and dual powerups are nice, but it's still the exact same experience. Amazing game, I'm just burned out on it.

You could probably sell MK8 Wii U for a good chunk of the cost so it would be a cheap upgrade.

I also saw a case full of Switch's at Target today that weren't there on Friday so anyone still looking for them should check their local Target today.

I know, I've seen at least one or two at the same Target I've been too every week..
Where I live there are a bunch of Targets, Best Buys and Gamestops all around each other and I've never seen a switch at any of them. I haven't gone to many of the gamestops but the one I did go to only had their $450 bundle you could order online from the store. I got a switch on Thursday from Amazon and when I went to Best Buy on Friday to get Zelda one of the employees asked me if I was looking for a switch. He said they had some switches but they didn't have them on the shelves so maybe they just came in, should've asked why they weren't out.

The only times I've seen them on a store shelf was at Walmart when I purchased mine and today at Target and I only got it when I did from Walmart because I was checking Brickseek constantly. They are definitely selling out nearly as soon as they get stocked. Much harder to find than Wii U or Xbox One ever were.

Clearly this must be on a regional basis as I've only had a handful of times at a store where they were sold out. Sucks, because if these actually flipped for anything I'd be raking it in.

Come to think of it, I'd be able to make elite plus at BB real fast if they were.

Seriously, I wish there were actual shortages at this point because I could buy 15 of them in one day easily.

They are in stock all around my area. Glad Nintendo put their foot on the gas and got these things out there. My craigslist has them at $300 now flippers bombed out on this it seems.

Yeah the max I'm seeing on CL is 350 now. You can get them more and more regularly. By June they will be in stock everywhere and online.
