Watching brickseek for my location, 10001 and 91911 these things don't seem to be flying off the shelves.
Same in my area. Stores been open only 4 hours here, but I feel like they could be gone by end of weekend. The recent BestBuy stock in my area lasted 3-4 days but all the neons are gone now with only one store having any grays in stock.

Easily orderable via the website for store pickup or delivery.  Several stores in my area show ~18 each while others have 0 or 2.

With GCU, there is no savings from this bundle and game is digital.

So you get NOTHING!!    YOU LOSE!   Good Day Sir!

I was at my local Walmart a few hours ago and they had 9, all in the case. So I know we have all debated on when the actual point of market saturation would be reached(some said awhile back, others said not yet). I think it's safe to say between a few online retailers, and the local Walmart stock, it has been reached. If a person want's a NS as of today, he/she should be able to walk in to a store or order online right now for inventory on hand.

EDIT: Brickseek started off for me at 89% this morning, went down to 86% mid day, and is now up to 87%. It seems one of the stores that didn't have stock, got them, while I guess some others sold as well. But after most of the day, almost every Walmart in town still has plenty.

I think so too. Maybe even earlier this week because because I was wondering around some stores on Tuesday after Labor day and Target and Best Buy had at least 4 sitting on the shelf. Funny though is that I never see them at Walmart. I think our stores horde them in the back.

It's also $80 more for a $60 game and a case. I get it comes with the color joycons, but those aren't "extra". If they made a Mario odessey bundle with Mario themed joycons, pretty sure that would sell 10x than Splatoon bundle. Nothing against Splatoon either.

Yeah, I believe Japan and the UK got this bundle at the launch for the game, so I'm sure theirs did better at retail. Of course NoA was sitting on their hands doing God only knows what all this time. No matter what, these will all be gone by the holidays, so it's a win/win for Walmart and "N" I'm sure.

I'm leaning more to just getting my son the standard neon unit, and then just buying the physical Splatoon 2, as then he can sell it if he ever gets tired of it, or wants something else. Then I can always get him the Splatoon colored pro controller at some point and call it a day. LOL

Idk. I am having a hard time finding that pro controller at list price.

i know the game is worth $60 but if they had made the bundle $299, like ps4 and xbox one do when they include a free game then it would have sold a lot faster, this is just a bundle with no discount for buying.. you could go buy the game and a case for cheaper than the extra 80 dollars, and the weird colors of the joy cons aren't that great :p.. i hate how they include 2 different colors per box, they should make a blue one a pink one a green one etc.. that way we can get matching ones and not look weird as if you couldn't find a matching color and are using 2 different colors together :p.. like wearing 2 different shoes

The Splatoon joycons are my favorite so far. Imported a set from Amazon UK when they came out. Cost me less than new US neon or grey joycons. $70 shipped.

"N" only really offers discounts way further down the line, and I'm sure these will be gone probably before Mario time, if not sooner. So I'm sure their not worried either way.

Honestly, the pro controller would be a bonus buy for him somewhere down the road as he likes the joy-cons(at least the little time he has tried them for so far). So hopefully stock will be up to the task by that time, if not, I may import, or just buy the standard one, as I'm sure he won't care much either way. He'll just be happy to have an NS, colors at the end of the day are an after thought for him.

I got lucky and got Splatoon 2, ARMS, Mario Kart & a pro controller all complete and mint in box for $120 on craigslist early last month. Surprising amount of used switch stuff on CL. People jumping ship early it seems.

Ive had quite a few traded in over the last few weeks. While its had a steady string of releases seems like most arent in the "I need to play it!" area.

Mario will get alot of people back on board.

I've seen this in Cincinnati and walked out with a $50 Switch dock

I've been waiting for odyssey to get a switch and that bundle is tempting but the extra $20 for the case and screen protector is just meh to me
Maybe I'll just see about a used/refurb. Gonna be a family Christmas gift anyways

While we're at equilibrium right now, I still think that as we get closer to Xmas, they'll be harder to find again... especially after Thanksgiving, when a lot of the parents actually ask what the kids want for Xmas, instead of listening right now.

But then again, after January, we'll go back to how it is today.

Hell, no sooner than I made that statement, the 9 at mine where gone. So I don't know if they sold, or got shipped elsewhere, as inventory was still good at other Walmart's at the time. I completely agree the NS will be hard to find in coming months no matter what. I've been telling those here if they have a slight interest, or want to gift during the holidays, now is the time to buy. I have to hurry up and try and get one for my son before it becomes harder, but currently I'm shooting for the beginning of October, so I should be OK(I hope). LOL

As for those discounts on accessories, my Walmart looks the exact same(minus the discounts of course), as no one seems to buy any of the extra's, and the shelves are packed tight. So much of that stuff can just be had much cheaper online, so it's good some local stores are discounting, as now is the time to get those extra's while cheap.

A true cag and switch fan would have already preordered odyssey with GCU + visa checkout discounts and hopefully $10 preorder bonus stacked on. So this bundle is a really bad deal unless you are a collector or really want those joycons or that case is exclusive. And digital anything on a Nintendo system is doing nobody a favor.

Nintendo seems late to the game for the GameStop style forced higher cost bundling business on the switch but I'm sure enough people will buy it.

Preordered at Best Buy.

I agree this is a bad deal, but I really do want those red joycons. I generally prefer digital, but I could have saved some money using the discounted eshop credit I have. I'm thinking about having at least one physical game in the slot at some point, but I'm not sure what yet. Preferably something that takes up a lot of space.

This is so true. You said it, Nintendo is selling GS style Switch bundles where you pay full msrp for all the components. It's really sad. There isn't any sort of savings there. But Nintendo has enough clout right now that they can do just about whatever they want. People will buy them just to get those particular colors on the joy-cons.

Moral of the story? People ought to get over needing to have colorful Nintendo controllers.

My 6 year old son would greatly argue with this. He's been begging to write Santa ever since he first saw the Mario Odyssey ads in Gamestop. All he has talked about for Christmas is a switch and that new Mario game.

He will be getting this bundle because he will flip his shit so much more about getting a "special" Mario Switch instead of just a regular Switch and the game. He's a good kid, does chores and is good in school. I see no reason to withhold this exclusive treat from him, even at full MSRP.

Then again, my son has been playing the same 3 games on his used 3DS for the past ~9 months since I decided he was old enough for one. I.e. He doesn't get much new stuff just for the sake of getting it.

My son is the exact opposite, as he saw the splatoon bundle, and had to have it. Then he saw the Mario one last night, and had to have it. LOL

He has tons of games on his Wii U, 3DS, 2DS, Wii, etc, and he still ask for new games almost daily. I'm like damn, let's start finishing some of these games before asking for a new one. But I'm talking to the wall with that one. LOL

A smart cag would have no issue paying full price for this bundle at GS. Just saying...

Your 6 year old will lose that argument. :speaktothehand:  jk

A CAG would want the best deal on the game, and $40 savings is big, but I agree there are some reasons to forego CAGiness, and that is one of them. Nothing like being a kid and getting a special new console. Hope he enjoys it. :switch: :joystick:

I bet your backlog is bigger than his. :D

I know its new and selling really well ATM, but does anyone know when the switch will have a price drop? After Xmas sometime ya think?
Given they are already selling "bundles" with the extras added at full msrp, I would say no time soon. If sales drop off, possibly later next year, MAYBE a $299 bundle that includes a game will become the norm. Look at wii u's history. That did poorly but didn't see any drop for years after the initial $299 for deluxe drop. Best bet may be a place like fry's selling their own discounted bundle, but I haven't even noticed frys advertise switch consoles at all yet.

Maybe christmas 2018, or maybe e3 2019 would be my best guess. Why would they cut the price when it is selling like hot cakes?
As stated, no time soon. Maybe holidays of 2018, you may see some bundles that actually have a value attached, as charging retail for extra's is no deal. The Wii U was unique, and that the hardware made it hard to have a proper price drop, and with "N" not wanting to admit defeat, they had one drop, and that was it.

The best you can hope is some of the deals you see posted here where a retailer may offer a discount for new customers, or some other CC/Ebay type promotions, but nothing from "N" themselves. Once sales slow down, you'll probably see some better bundles being offered, but like a casino in Vegas, "N" will always have the upper hand even when that happens.

If support and interest stay good, it may be awhile honestly for a decent drop. But it will for sure happen when the redesign does, but no telling when that may happen(or what it will be: Bigger, smaller, kid friendly, etc).

The Mario Red joycons are up on Amazon.JP so that means they will be sold separately for those interested in them but not the bundle.
Yes, they confirmed during the presentation earlier in the week that Japan would be getting them separately along with the carrying case separately. That's not the case for the US, however, at least not yet.

Because I'm too lazy to check, are the Switch digital games pre-loaded or is it a code I could sell separately to buy physical ?
I did just see a few days ago, that the Australian bundle for Mario actually is getting the physical cart. I don't know why they get a physical, when every place else is getting the code, but I'm sure there must be a reason. Maybe online is ass over there, so they want to make it easy on the consumer.

Well, we didn't get the Splatoon controllers seperately, but every other country did. I ordered the red ones from Amazon.jp

It's probably going to be a code like the splatoon bundle, it wasn't preloaded, it was on a piece of card stock.

Wait, you have to pay more to get the bundle with the pack-in?  I suppose we are a far cry from Mario Kart 8 launching in a standard MSRP bundle and coming with NSMB U.

At least they give you a high-speed HDMI cable.

hell yeah, thanks for posting...even with international shipping, only cost $84 total so basically the exact retail price of a new US set after taxes.

When did they start letting us buy on amazon.jp?
Do you mean this item specifically or in general?

I know that the joycons were available first for JP buyers only they would not ship to US but that changed the day after the direct. As for the site, as far as I can remember.. lol

maybe 6 months or so ago...possibly a bit longer. You used to have to use one of the 3rd party shipping services but they ship directly now.
Yeah, back when it first happened, I read it on one of the boards I frequent(I want to say here on CAG), and that's how I found out. Your exactly right about the service, as that's why it was a big deal at the time. I never really needed to use Amazon JP, but it's good to know it's an option if I ever need it.
