I love it but if Zelda doesn't excite you then set it free. Pick it up closer to the holidays.

If you're not super hyped for Zelda it's really not worth it. The Switch is extremely bare bones. I got 3, one for me and one for each of my kids. All they ask me is why they can't watch Netflix or YouTube on it after they play. It's really a machine for mostly older nerdy gamers like myself that live off the Nintendo nostalgia.I have until end of the day tomorrow to pick up my switch pre order from best buy. The store has actually called me twice now to remind me of this but i was at work both times so i missed the call. Not even sure if i want to pick it up right now. It would just get put back until Christmas for the kids. No way I'm just giving it to them this early and there is nothing that excites me enough that i want to play it anytime soon.
So should i just get it now and put it back till then? or wait until this fall and pick one up?
When people think of Nintendo they think of toys. Why would Nintendo lose out on a whole generation of upcoming gamers and gadget enthusiast? Seriously I worry about the longevity of Nintendo (I own stock) because of this. I'm 34 and have two kids 8 and 12. I've tried to make them love Nintendo with various devices and they just don't enjoy them. The switch I thought would work because they love their tablets, but Nintendo just doesn't get it. Atleast they like to play Snipperclips with me.That's the big misconception when it comes to the Switch. I've been telling versions of this to friends and people since Friday:
It's not a kid's toy. In fact, it's more of an adult's gaming machine. This isn't a tablet and you can't let your baby chew on it. It's more like a small TV, not really a touch screen. It needs to be taken care of, and a reckless child is going to scratch it up just by putting it in the dock. It has moving parts. The controllers and system are not very sharable among siblings. Frankly, it's just not for small children. All that Miiverse crap is gone and it has a simple, no nonsense, games-only hud presentation like the 1.0 PS4.
My nephew is 8 and he often asks for help when it comes to switching a Wii U game disc. The Switch is very much an adult gaming system. People look at this and they just see TABLET, and that's not what this is at all.
If you mean the old points cards, I highly doubt it, they didn't work with the Wii U either unless you were in Wii mode. The Wii U/3DS dollar amount cards should work, and if they don't for some reason you could redeem them on a 3DS/Wii U and then merge the dollar amounts when you go to the Switch eshop.Fast RMX and SnipperClips probably aren't ever going to see a retail release, right? Pretty doubtful but does anyone know if original Wii credit (sold in blister packs) is redeemable on Switch? I should have bought some eShop credit the past few times it was on sale.
If it's for the kids at holiday, there is ZERO reasons to get it now and put it away. Your unit may have issues, and you'll never know until it's to late. I would guess they will address most issues over time, so you stand a way better chance of getting a better more well built NS closer to the holidays. I also expect it to not sale that great until the holidays, so I'm sure there will be some bundled sets by then as well, so you may be able to get Mario or Splatoon, included at a better value by then as well. Let someone else have it now, who actually plans to use it, or flip it, or whatever they want to do with it.So should i just get it now and put it back till then? or wait until this fall and pick one up?
They don't, and never will. This is the argument I've made since the NS was announced, who is going to pay that kind of money for a very gimped tablet? Yes, it's a console, yes it's a handheld, and yes, it's whatever else "N" says it is, and I just don't see the majority of consumers caring. The switch I thought would work because they love their tablets, but Nintendo just doesn't get it. Atleast they like to play Snipperclips with me.
Same here but I probably won't. My major gripe is with the joy-con desync/disconnect.I'm honestly considering selling my Switch for full price after I beat Zelda. Every iteration that comes after this one will be better.
I just wish there was some sort of a device...let's call it a "memory card", if you will....where I could save my game outside the internal thumbstick.
We can debate all day if the NS is worth the price or not, but when a person spends that type of money, they want perfection, I know I damn well would. Dead pixels, joy-con, wi-fi, screen scratching, that is all quality control issues, and "N" just seems more than happy to barely address any and all issues, and if those numbers are correct, I have to assume most places are going to have a similar return problem, and in turn, means "N" is going to have a HUGE problem going forward.Just got back from Best Buy after returning one of my switches because of the screen scratching and joy-con desync issue and the customer service person told me that just today they've had 5 Switch returns and over 40 since they had the midnight launch on the 3rd of this month. I was there and there were about 150 sold. So they've had closet to 1/3 of them return? What the hell? Thats insane.
I work in the warehouse of my store and I have yet to see one come back. I'm not saying they aren't getting returned but I highly doubt 40 were at one storeWe can debate all day if the NS is worth the price or not, but when a person spends that type of money, they want perfection, I know I damn well would. Here's Reggie's latest response to said issues(more sweeping stuff under the rug), instead of coming out and saying there are real problems, and we will work our best to resolve any and all issues. Instead, you get, oh, the problems are not wide spread, complete and utter BS! http://time.com/4696866/nintendo-switch-joy-con-issues/
Did you happen to ask what the main reason for the returns? Was it buyers remorse, was it due to defects? Just based on how much I have seen around the web, 1/3 returned, seems to be about right in regards to how often I see problem issues. So if you happen to go back, I would really like to know what the specific returns where for.
Yeah, that's why I said "if true".I work in the warehouse of my store and I have yet to see one come back. I'm not saying they aren't getting returned but I highly doubt 40 were at one store

She said people were having issue with the joycon not connecting mostly. A lot of them probably buyer's remorse. I'm sure a regular Joe expect the switch to have basics like Netflix, YouTube, and a web browser. We can debate all day if the NS is worth the price or not, but when a person spends that type of money, they want perfection, I know I damn well would. I have no idea why she would lie. It was an older lady who didn't seem to have any interest in gaming.I work in the warehouse of my store and I have yet to see one come back. I'm not saying they aren't getting returned but I highly doubt 40 were at one store

Next time I'm in my local GS, maybe I'll ask the manager there if they have had any returns, and if so, what where the reasons. She said people were having issue with the joycon not connecting mostly. I believe you are exactly correct. When Walmart was like the last place where preorders could still be placed, I saw it mentioned that you only needed a small amount down, and then it was under their layaway program.I preordered a wii u from in store Walmart. The only way to do it was to put the item on layaway. Idk if they hold those forever until the item is paid off or what but there's a chance those switches are under the layaway program. You might want to look into the details for that.
I went to a Walmart that had 11 and was told the same thing by a suppposed manager. I thought it was BS because the bin location show they are on-hand and in the electronics aisle.Anyone preorder from "in store walmart" that would have any insight on this?
Wal-Mart layaway is usually eight weeks or two months to pay something off.I believe you are exactly correct. When Walmart was like the last place where preorders could still be placed, I saw it mentioned that you only needed a small amount down, and then it was under their layaway program.
So if that is true, buyers have an extended period of time, as it's not like GS where you have 48hrs to pick something up. At Walmart, it's kind of like a payment plan, but there is a limit of time, I'm just not sure what it is, but it's a long time, way more than GS(maybe 6-12 months).
Maybe that's the reason Nintendo hasn't made cloud saves available yet. They don't want people to beat Zelda and then sell the system right afterwards. They want these people to keep the system and then buy Splatoon 2 and MK8D and so on.I'm honestly considering selling my Switch for full price after I beat Zelda. Every iteration that comes after this one will be better.
I just wish there was some sort of a device...let's call it a "memory card", if you will....where I could save my game outside the internal thumbstick.

did any chicks approach him? There was a dude at the bar tonight playing a Switch.
Haha! Nope.did any chicks approach him?
Did you approach him?Haha! Nope.
Betcha if he had his master sword with him they would.did any chicks approach him?
Btw, are your saves also on the card for digital games? Or is it just the game itself?I probably should not have used a 256gb card as I probably will never fill it. But it was free from the Samsung Note 7 promo.
Nope. It only saves to system memory. So only the digital games are on the cardBtw, are your saves also on the card for digital games? Or is it just the game itself?
Don't forget about the other great feature of the DualShock4 controller: the abysmal battery life. Be careful what you wish for.At the end of the day I'm glad I picked it up for 62 dollars. I think 77 after tax is highway robbery, and honestly not worth it. The controller has HD rumble (which hasn't impressed me thus far), and an amiibo reader, which people often point to these features as the reason behind the higher price tag. What they don't mention is the features the controller doesn't have, like a headphone jack, a touchpad, or pressure sensitive triggers. I'd honestly rather have all the features it doesn't have than to pay extra for the ones it does.
GameStop never disappoints. LolWell my Rime preorder from GameStop went to the new price. Now owe like $7 and change

So they didn't honor that lower price uh? Your not surprised right, as you knew that was coming.Well my Rime preorder from GameStop went to the new price. Now owe like $7 and change
Yeah I figured. Was kinda hoping it wouldn't go up.So they didn't honor that lower price uh? Your not surprised right, as you knew that was coming.
mine arrived too.... 1st attempt was a disaster..... the top film didn't hold the glass at all, and in an attempt to fix the bubbles that formed, dog hair and dust magically appeared under it.Got the amFilm tempered glass screen protector today. I have to say I am impressed on how it looks. Applying the screen protector was simple and no bubbles. I actually had one dust piece in there, but I was able to use the dust remover tape they provided to get rid of it. This is amazing because I always have some bubbles left whenever I do this.
