I just bought a new pc and its pretty nice becides the onboard graphics. I have read articles reguarding video cards but I really want the opinion and say of a experienced member of cag! So please if you have time try and find a card to fit my specifications. I have looked on newegg and have a few in mind but I really want someone to pick one out!

-I have about 130 dollars to spend
-the card doesnt have to be the "LATEST" in GPU's but should hopefully be a decent card
-I only need it to run World of warcraft and counter strike source WELL
-I have a vista desktop
-I have PCI-E 16X

any suggestions apreciated :D

1. Do you have PCI 16 (if you don't know, what is your current card)?
2. Are you planning to play ANY DirectX 10 games AT ALL?
3. What is your processor?

amd athalon X2 4400+ (2.3 GHZ)

My current card is an Nvidia 6150 onboard. Its decent but it doesnt get the fps I would like.

Also... to the first reply. Not really. Because I payed a good amount of money for a card that turned out to be a shitpeice so I returned it. Thats why im here.

This one here will run like a champ, and at $100 it is an awesome deal.

on TomsHardware.com, for the 130 price range, they suggest the 7900GS or the X1950PRO.

"GDD3" Memory & "256-bit" interface are the best bang for your buck

they say, the advantage of the 7900GS is overclockability.
the X1950PRO is less power hungry than the X1950GT.

also, on tom's hardware, check out their VGA charts and you can get an idea of how some of these cards do in FPS tests.

The very least you should go for is a 6600GT. That will get you steady frames in games like WOW and CS:S. These cards are very cheap, you can find them for about $40 - $60.

Paying a little more ($85 or $120) can get you a 7600GT or 7900GS. I know most all "GS" cards are weak but when you tone down what was once one of the best cards on the market (7900GT) and sell it for much less, then you get the best DX9 "bang for buck" cards around.

I have a 7600GT and it's great. Different brand (mine's PNY) but it plays everything I've tried very well on it. Battlefield 2 I had to turn some settings down, but stuff like FEAR runs very well. CPU is a X2 3800+ and 1 GB ram.
Im still leaning toward the 7600GT.

But how is this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130073

Compared to this one:?

I know the core is clocked faster but how much is that AND the different brand going to affect things?
also what about this one?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130073 same manufacturer but what is the difference and will I get better performnce out of it?

The difference is just the clock speeds are a little better on the xfx card over the evga. You really won't notice much difference so you could just save yourself $20. Plus EVGA is a better brand.

If you can up it $20 more then you can get a Sapphire X1950XT which would anal rape any of those 7600GT cards. I've seen the 7600GT at $70 at times which makes it hard to recommend at $100.

But... it is $20 more so I dunno if that kills it or not.

I managed to pick up the EVGA 7800gtx that retails for $399.99 at newegg.com right now yesterday direct from the EVGA website refurbished with warranty for $59.99. I think I got the best value.

Yeah that 7900GS was a good decision though.
Yeah the price is really inflated right now on Newegg but anyway you look at it, its a 7800gtx for $60.
Yeah, and I hate you for it.:p I probably would've gotten one for the dual DVI, better video playback and SM3 support. Oh well... maybe some other time.

i currently have a 7900 gs but im looking to upgrade soon.. the 7900gs has been great so far but it couldnt handle DIRT too well.. its handled everything else like a champ though

the 7900 is nice because there is a passive cooled version out there which is nice and quiet.
