Few weeks ago when NewEgg had the XBL 12 months for $36 I ordered one......

well they sent me 1600 MS pts instead (not what I wanted and only worth $20)

Spoke to a bunch of people (for like 2 hours) and the best they offered was for me to send the pts back and they would look into why the wrong thing was sent out and get back to me in 72 hours. I was like WTF? Just send my card and be happy if I send the pts back........

Anyway, realized it was $36 on Amazon for the code and bought it there. Still haven't been refunded. They said you wait 72 hours for them to process the return and 72 for the refund or something. They are so full of crap.

EDIT: Even asked the lady "What would make me want to continuing shopping with you after this?"....her answer "Honestly, nothing".

I bought a memory stick on newegg but decided I didn't want it, returned it to them. Took them 6 weeks to issue me a refund.

Whenever I've had an issue with newegg they've always been good about fixing it, often giving me a $10 gift card when they mess up.

Are there online stores that will let you keep something that they mistakenly sent you, along with a refund for your intended item? Just return the points and if they don't give a refund file a complaint.

Your edit reminds me of what a former Gamestop employee told me. Whenever people call and say things like that to the district manager, he would just hang up on them. The reasoning is you're not going to shop there anymore anyway.

I was being sarcastic about keeping the points.....

But I was asking them that honestly. I have used NewEgg religiously for about 6 or 7 years for any numerous computer builds, phone accessories, usb drives, games, etc. and when they screw up they absolutely SUCK at fixing it.

Here were my acceptable responses:

1. Sorry we messed up. We will immediately send out a card. When you get it send the points back.
2. Send us the points back and we will immediately send out your card.
3. We apologize for our mistake but we can do X to make it up for you.

NOT:

Send the points back and once we get them we will spend up to 3 days trying to figure out what we did wrong, and if we figure out what we did wrong and see that we have cards in stock we will spend another three days sending them to you and you will have your original item two weeks late with no apologizes or attempts to make up for it because WE screwed up.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the first time I called the lady asked for a Model # for the item I received.....I was like wtf?....gave her all the serial type #s on the card and she said none of them worked and I'd have to take a picture of the item received and send it to her before I could proceed with getting it exchanged.......they were on so much bull that day.

And you would hang up on a customer like that if you were being a smart ass. If you weren't a smart ass you'd recognize a long time customer and try to make the situation better or at least apologize rather than saying we made a mistake and now your SOL for it.

Probably won't. NewEgg has always been good. I'll still buy my computer parts from them. But next time something like a game card or points goes on sale with them I'll pass and wait for other sites like Amazon to go on sale.

I've slowly transitioned away from Newegg over the years. They used to have the bottom-line lowest prices and super quick shipping. Now it seems everything I order from them takes a week and a half to get here.

I'm spoiled by Amazon Prime, if I can't get it in two days, I don't want it.

I think newegg almost got too big. When they specialized in computer parts only, and offered free 3-day shipping on just about anything, they were great. They've gone cheap on the shipping, and their prices on computer parts aren't as good as they once were, although there are still great deals to be had every once in a while.

Speaking about Amazon Prime, would anyone be interested in joining our Amazon Prime group? We had a good run for 4 years straight until someone decided to drop out for this year. We've been looking for a replacement for about a month now and it would only cost about ~$16.

I might be interested. Just wish I saw this before I ordered Mafi II off there today lol.

Never had any problem with them. They took good care of me when I had a defective product and were prompt with the refund. Yeah it took around 3 days to process and I don't feel that's unreasonable personally. Though of course I'd like it instantly like anyone else.
