Its a sad day for Hendrick Motorsports. One of their plane's crashed on its way to Martinsville today killing everyone on board. Rick Hendrick, the team owner, lost his son, Ricky Hendrick; his twin daughters; his brother, John Hendrick; and 4 other members of the organization. He just recently lost his father as well.

No clue who they are, but extremely depressing news. This was posted like 10 minutes ago, too (on nascar.com).. quick linking. What a sad weekend..

The Hendrick Family has had a very rough year. I hope they get through this alright.

I also send my best to everyone else who lost someone.

I live in the Martinsville area. I heard something about a plane crash but hadn't heard if anyone died or anything. I don't follow racing much but this is sad news.

Yeah, it's really sad. I really feel for Rick Hendrick, he's had a lot happen to him over the last few years and now this. Hope everyone's thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. I feel kind of bad for Jimmie Johnson too, being told this news right after he wins the race.

I just read about it at nascar.com I watched the race start to finish and had no clue. My prayers are with there families

I'm not a race fan, but it's never a good thing when a plane crashes. Particularly when it's less than 30 minutes from my apartment. I live literally 5 minutes from the airport there were heading to or from.

Damn, that's a bitch. I'm gonna go tell my Mom right now 'cause she's a NASCAR fan and I'm sort of one myself.

I'm a huge NASCAR fan... this is pretty sad stuff, and I hate it for Rick Hendrick after all that he went through with losing his father not too long ago, and now loses his son, brother, and twin nieces... I just cannot imagine what he is going through right now.

Yeah Jimmie's my favorite driver so I was really excited that he won and I was waiting for victory lane and then they made that announcement but only said that it was a Hendrick Motorsports team plane. I originally said it may have been Ricky Hendrick but then my mom brought up that it may have been Jimmie's Fiance, Chandra. Needless to say I was sitting there refreshing NASCAR's homepage just waiting to find out who was on the plane.

That is by far one of the best examples of emotional roller coaster, especially for Hendrick's Team. This picture says it all. The look on Jimmie's face is just pure shock, considering that he had just won the race its not the look you would normally expect from someone that just won. Truly tragic for Rick Hendrick, to lose all his children and his brother in a plane crash only a few months after his father passes away, I can't imagine the pain.

Yeah, they've been broadcasting this here in NC quite a bit since it's happened. It's pretty sad news, and unfortunate.

All the more reason for me to cheer on the Hendrick guys. I hope they come through with the Cup. It's no consolation by far for their huge loss in the family. Best wishes to them as they try to get things together.
