Offical Heavenly Sword Thread (Current GStat av score = 8.0)

I played through it twice as did a friend. It's really fun, more fun than I thought God of War ever was. Though I didn't care too much for God of War like other people did. I just wish the damn demo let us go into the next room which is rather elongated with archers in it. Bah.

Still...looks like quite a gorgeous game. Hopefully it's just what the PS3 has been waiting for. The next months should be amazing for me with this one, Lair, and Halo 3 dropping within weeks of each other
 
Maybe I have no idea what 480p looks like, cuz I have a CRT that does not do 720p, and im telling you, if thats 480p, then I need my eyes checked...

You could have a HDTV that scales the 720p to 1080i.
 
It is going to be a while before he see true 1080p games. So far 720p is what most are pushing to keep framerates up. Nothing wrong with that if you ask me (TV doesn't do 1080p :razz: ) because they still look fantastic.

I think if the worse thing we're hearing is "we want more" then that is pretty good right?
 
im dissapointed IT WAS TOO SHORT, lol that was so awesome though.
oh well im sure what their desired affect was with this demo has hit most of us. lol i did a combo where she kicked the guy down and cut his crotch in half then all the other guys fainted, lol im a guy but lol that was CRAZY!
 
I had a feeling it would be short. I have a feeling the game will clock in around 10 hours total. I kinda hope for this-- less time to play through + lots of incentive to replay = I actually get to experience all the game has to offer and enjoy it. Unless it's the next Ninja Gaiden and every inch of it secretes liquid awesome.


anyway, I'm only at 48% after 3 hours. :(
 
Wow.

Way too short, but I can see why. The two fight scenes you get to play through are nothing short of stunning.

Echoing Sean's comments...you can't button mash. I figured that out on my first time through the demo, when one of the guys blocked every attack of mine for a solid minute. I drew the comparison to a god of war style game, but with actual tactics thrown in for good measure.

Environment is amazing (loved being able to throw people completely out of the plaza), and the moves are great. (Broke many necks, kicked many people in the nuts)

Preorder is going in asap for this one. If they can make it 30-35 hours of gameplay, I'll be more than happy to drop 60 for this one.
 
I think I understand the O button. If you get a guy weak enough, run up and push O to do a finishing move. However, it's kind of hard to know exactly when he's weak enough.
 
I loved it, but it was too short. I like the how simple the pick up shit mechanic is, I just press X near an object or dead body and toss it where ever I like. The physics seem to be a little awkward though, as I tossed a foot stool and it bounced from one side of that little arena and back towards the other.

It's the same demo that they've been showing for the past year or so, which the shortness has always been the one con everybody's mentioned. I love how Andy Serkis has essentially two roles in the game, the main bad guy and Nariko's sister who's obviously a knockoff of Gollum.
 
Also, there are now two Heavenly Sword wallpaper in the PS Store. They're quite nice, though bright, meaning the text of the XMB can be hard to read.
 
Yeah, I played the demo and it rocks. Yeah it's short, but I expected that since SCEE Cambridge had to keep the size down for download (kind of like how the Folklore demo had no voices). The game is tough, but fun.

Graphics in the game are some of the best I've ever seen.

The volume increase was because they were 'super styles', however, I did nock them back a bit and do some balancing just a day or so ago.

The audio (music cutting out) glitches during the Ninja Sequence are also fixed.

FYI the demo was locked down ages ago, plenty of spit n polish has been done since then right.

HELL mode is available right off the bat, yes.

Bare in mind, that what you're playing now is a level early on in the story, you can scrape through it just by mashing buttons - try that in the later chapters and you'll get your (gorgeous) ass handed to you on a plate...
 
One thing I think would be pretty bad ass is if you could parry and deflect your opponent's weapon into another opponent, then finish that guy off, or grab him and throw him into other bad guys.
 
:lol: Did the superstyle attack where you hit the guy in his balls with your sword. I believe you have to use the range stance and then hit O to grab one of the guy you're fighting.

I was about to ask how do you do those cool cinematic moves. I think I threw one guy but I don't know how i did it. Maybe I pressed the O button by mistake lol

hm i just did the move where she climbs on the guy and breaks his neck with her hands...i have no idea how i did it but I'm pretty sure I pressed the O at some point lol

You can pick up object (weapons, shields, dead bodies) and toss them around with the X button. There's a section of the menu that explains controls and another that shows the combos and superstyle attacks.
 
Hmm... well from the demo it's about what it has looked like the whole time. I wish there were a few less cinematics in the middle of combat as every time you counter it kind of takes you out of the action so that you can see a move in slow motion. The animation in parts struck me as kind of choppy, but I'm sure that will probably be ironed out by the time the game releases.

Overall, it seems like it will be fun, but I really hope they tone down the amount of scripted counters.

wow... I don't give a fuck, after seeing that pic, I don't give a damn about anything on 360, and wii... and this is basically a true first generation game... the ugliest game that we'll see on the ps3, a game that is basically a launch game.... and its a trilogy... my my my

Fun demo. I really hope that the entire game isn't hack 'n slash though. If it's like God of War (little puzzles here and there) I will be sold.

What are you working on?

After playing the demo (which does a great job of making you clamor for more, IMO), I'm not sure I can take the devs seriously. Those who said "it's not 'Goddess of War,'" at any rate. Some of the gameplay suggested to me that button mashing won't work very well in this game, and that's good. It's still very, very similar to GoW.

And that's...a good thing.

God damn... .I just finished my second play through and this woman kicks some major ass. One superstyle attack wiped out the entire second group of enemies.

I've seen some absolutely amazing slow motion kills as well.

I guess I know where some of my Gamestop trade in cash is going....
