Official 2009 Yard Sale Thread

Last weekend I got DDR xbox pads for $0. The guy didn't know what they were or if they were working so he had them in his free pile. There were also 2 PS2 pads, but I left them for the next lucky person. I don't have a PS2 and didn't feel like trying to sell them because I couldn't test and I just moved so I'm busy and my place is really cluttered as it is.

Just got back. Went to about 30 sales. Not many video games. One sale had like 3 Genesis games ($2 a piece), but nothing good. A few sales, including that one, said they had had a bunch of games but they all sold at the last sale :(

This is what I found:

2 Pokemon tin boxes (thought these might be worth something - was wrong)

1 Pokemon guide book

img3114.jpg

TOTAL: $4.00

PC Flight Force joystick + some headphones

img3112.jpg

TOTAL: $1.00

Fighter Turbo II joystick in box

img3111.jpg

TOTAL: $1.00

Phillips Travel Speakers (work with iPod). Even included 7 AAA batteries for free!

img3113j.jpg

TOTAL: $2.00

Other notable finds are 7 Burts Bees Chap Sticks (my family loves these) + Blue Lizard Sun Screen - all brand new - for $5.00 total. (Burts Bees are normally $3.00 each and we lose them very easily so this was a nice find).

I will put up pics when my camera is fully charged.

Today ruled! Two huge NES scores and some other sweet stuff.

Please, for the love of god, do not quote this post, and if you do, remove the images!

NES Lot 1
2yuexde.jpg

Walking up to this sale, I saw a Super Mario / Duck Hunt cart loose in a big cardboard box. Meh. Then I realized that stuff under it wasn't VHS tapes, they were boxed NES games! Now granted, the boxes aren't in mint condition but they aren't in bad shape by any means.

I asked how much, the lady said $5 each but if I took all of them, $3 each. There were 20 and $60 did not sound appealing. I don't know how I did it but I got it down to $30 for the lot. ($1.50 each!)

All are boxed, with varying degrees of completeness. Missing manuals, etc. are noted.

List:
Orb-3D (includes 3D glasses, no dust jacket)
Astyanax
Vegas Dream (no manual)

The Addams Family (no dust jacket or anything)
Disney Adventures in the Magic Kingdom (no manual)
Joe & Mac (no manual, Nintendo Power Game Boy poster)

NES Lot 2
15oujc7.jpg

This one was literally the next block over. We actually skipped it because I spent almost all my money on the above lot. Went to the ATM and came back, and whaddya know, another big ol' box of NES games! Plus a Nintendo Power Pad in the original box.

Some of the games are boxed, some aren't. Most have manuals and inserts. Here's the full list. I can't overstate how beautiful these are, with the original registration cards, hint books, nintendo power ads and posters. Anyway, all this stuff was $20. I know Bandit Kings of Ancient China is worth quite a bit.

:360: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter - $2 (IAP $3)
PS1: Gundam Battle Assault 2 - $2 (IAP $5)
PC Video Capture Card - $5 (might use this to make some game videos some day; IAP $10)
VGA Switch - $2 (this will come in handy. I have a VGA adaptor for my 360, so now I can easily switch between the 360 and my PC without having to unplug anything)

Acer 19" Widescreen Monitor

This was brand new in the box. $25 IAP which I paid because there was another guy eyeing it. Got my dad to pay half since I'm giving him my old 17" LCD monitor.

Yesterday we had heavy rains (not bad for me because I had to work). Hit about 20 sales today . . . more than I thought because it was about 35 degrees this morning. I wasn't going to go out . . . can't imagine that there are many weeks left :whistle2:(

I did find a few good books to flip . . . so-so outing but I did stop at sale with tons of junk. I overheard that this was a liquidation/fund raiser because these people's daughter was seriously ill. When I talked to the mother (grandma) it turns out she is 43 with kids. Anyway they must be pretty serious gamers but there was mostly leftover junk. There was an Xbox (which I left behind).

I spotted this bin with controllers and adapters. I added 2 PS2 games, Mario 64, an NES, and Genesis 3. I offered $10 to the Granny. She said she really didn't know what it was worth. I said its a bunch of odds and ends that may or may not work but I might be able to use it. Then she said she's have to rely on me to value it. I gave her $15.

101009junkotherside.jpg

Its really an odd mixture. I didn't see the 2 Wii nunchucks until I got home . . . these are nice because I have 4 Wiimote but only 2 nunchucks. There is an N64 power adapter which I can use in putting together a system.

If I had given it more thought, I would have left the Namco and Spongebob TV games behind (no use for them).

PS1: Lunar 1 (everything but Soundtrack), Lunar 2 (everthing), Saga Frontier, Grandia (complete), Dragon Warrior 7 (complete), Tactics Ogre (game and box), FF origins (gh complete), FF8 (gh sealed), FF Chronicles (gh complete), 2 copies of Vagrant Story (1 complete, 1 box and game), Legend of the Dragoon (gh complete), Suikoden (disc only), Chronicles of the Sword (complete), FF9 (gh complete), FF anthology (gh complete), Chrono Cross (gh, sealed), Valkyrie Profile (complete), Star Ocean 2nd Story (complete), Ogre Battle Limited Edition (disc only), Saga Frontier 2 (disc only), Xenogears (gh, complete)

PS3 games: Enchanted Arms, Turok, WWE Smackdown 2008, Viking

$200

This was the most annoying Craigslist deal I've ever had to do, but it was worth it.

3x Your typical Game Boy/GBC Soft Cases
Binder For Loose Game Boy Games
Playstation 2 1st Party Controller
Genesis 2 Power Adaptor
PlayStation Secret Codes 4 (BradyGames)
Gamer's Cheat Book Volume 1 (Prima)
Joytech Controller Plus (N64)
UltraRacer 64 Controller
The Eliminator (NES System Cleaning Cart)

$1

Saw this stuff and what was marked was cheap (.10 to .25) offered a buck for it all.

Non Find BS

Friday I was only going to go to 4 sales nearby and didn't bother since it was raining lightly. Got out really late Saturday, 10 minutes before 11. I was out for 2 hours and went to 15 sales, a few on my list were either closed up by noonish or didn't bother becuase of some clouds in the sky but I did find 3 unadvertised sales.

I passed on a Harry Potter GBA cart that was a buck that seemed very fair for a yardsale but I figured I'd never actually play it and would only be buying it just for the sake of buying something and because it was cheap. Only other sale I recall seeing anything console games at was a sale with about 10 PS2 games 8 of them being sports games, didn't even notice how much they were as I just looked at the spines.

Two sales mentioned having something of interest to me that I missed getting starting so late in the morning. The sale I got everything from mentioned some NES games and another sale mentioned having some 2600 games.

UltraRacer 64 Controller
Hey, within my pile o' stuff is an UltraRacer 64 (and an UltraRacer for PS).

We probably couldn't find one to save our lives if we really wanted it.

For $6:

4 guides
1 Genesis games
1 PSX official mem card
1 N64 Transfer pak
1 bag of pellets for a airsoft gun
1 dell mouse and keyboard (not pictured)
1 Sega Nomad

There was a lot of rain on Friday. There weren't very many sales, but I did find something good. I finally found a Sega Nomad. It was $3, but it didn't come with the power adapter or battery pack. I seem to do well when the weather is crappy. I also found my Vectrex and laseractive on days like that. Now if I could find a Turbo Duo.

Wow! Amazing find on the Virtual Boy!

My weekly find wasn't at a yard sale, or a flea market or craigslist or anything awesome, nor was it cheap, but I finally found...

ICO!!!

Sorry, I've been looking for this forever(to play, believe it or not), and I went into a GameStop, and, as I always do when they say "Can I help you guys find anything?" I scoff and say "Yeah, you could help me find Ico." And the guy said "Oh somebody actually just traded one in."

So yeah, I'm happy.

I'm pretty sure I see H.E.R.O. in your Atari lot Eagle3ye. That's a nice find and one that's pretty tough to find in the wild, one that is also worth giving a try if you've never played it.

Not a yard sale, but someone at EB wanted to trade in Suikoden V, Valkyrie Profile 2, Resident Evil REmake and Fire Emblem PoR. Because of a recent slash in TIVs in October, they were only going to give in $9.50 for them. I offered him $10 and he took it. =)

Got a bunch of Xbox games and DVDs at a yardsale for 50 cent each, spent $6 took em to Movie Gallery and got $22 in store credit for $6.

Not finds but some fun pics from today:

The Police and some RIAA agents were raiding some of the mexican music stands at my local swap meet

That is awesome! I wish they would hit up the monthly outdoor flea market near here. There are several booths that have nothing but bootleg DVDs and/or CDs.

Tons of sales, nothing except

Quattro Adventure (unlicensed NES cart) w/ manual - $.50
I can't get this game to work no matter what I try. Any ideas? It has a weird A/B switch on the back but neither setting works, and even the usually-unstoppable NES Cleaning Kit failed to have any impact.

I remember that POS PITA.
The only way I could ever get it to work was in my game genie and even then it was a struggle.

Lots of stuff this week/end:

Pic 1: Dell 20.1" 2007fp Ultrasharp monitor - $50 from work. These things still go for $150-200 used.

I got my brother a 2007wfp for the same price for his birthday. I wanted to try to use this for as a substitute for my CRT, however, the monitor isn't that good for gaming. However it's great for everyday use.

Pic 2: 300 Blu-Ray and a Component cable - $8

Pic 3 and 4: PS2 lot. System, hookups, 2 controllers, guitar hero controller and the following games:

Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown, Pirates of the Caribbean, RPG Maker 2, Harvest Moon Save the Homeland, WWE Smackdown Here Comes the Pain, Superman Returns, AMF Xtreme Bowling, Legends of Wrestling 2, MGS 2, Twisted Metal Black Extra Twisted Edition, Hitman Blood Money, Bard's Tail, KH2, WWE SD vs Raw 06, Guitar Hero 3, MLB 09, GTA Vice City, GTA 3, tony Hawk American Wasteland, THUG, THUG2, Harvey Birdman, VF4 Evolution, Star Ocean Til the End of Time, Bully, DQ8, GTA San Andreas, HIgh Rollers Casino, Puzzle Quest, Quake 3, FF7 Dirge of Cerberus, MK Armageddon, Pirates, Black Kat, NAC, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Fire Pro Wrestling Returns, VF4, Shadow Hearts Covenant, Persona 3 FES, WWE SD vs Raw 06 (2nd copy), Power Drome, Deus Ex, Ford Racing 3, Star Wars Bounty Hunter, Star Ocean (2nd copy), Neo Geo Battle Coliseum

Disc only: Evil Dead regeneration, Judge Dredd, Star Wars Episode 3, Yugioh Duelists of the Roses, WWE SD Shut your mouth, Scarface, Midnight Club Dub edition, Sims, Socom 2

$75 for the whole lot above

Pic 7: $25 total for the 2 mini SNES systems, 2 controllers, 1 av, 1 power, Aladdin, SM All Stars, SM World and SF2 Turbo

That's a quick way to get yourself banned from Gamestop. They don't really like people stealing customers out from under their noses.

They don't mind as long as its not current-gen systems & games. PS2 and Gamecube games may be iffy (especially those mentioned).

I bought some PS1 and N64 games from someone looking to trade them in at Gamestop after Gamestop refused them.

How can you truly get banned from a store. Are they going to write down my information and instantly remember me everytime I walk in.

If they ask you to not come in the store again, and you do, they can legally file trespassing charges against you. The likelihood of that happening though is pretty small.
nice. are there still funcolands around? i havent seen one in years.
I think they became gamestop when EB, Babbages, and software etc combined.

Most employees will let you buy pre PS2/GC games from other customers, but they will get ticked if you buy PS@/GC stuff from them, This is the part of the PS2/GC life cycle that GS employees start to accidentally for get certain games are in the drawer under the counter untill 75% off starts!!

a local GS employee told me that if managers see a employee buy a game from a customer even if it is atari they will get fired!!

Holy crap!! $3!! Very awesome find!

It was a slow summer for video games for me. My most notable find was a factory sealed Mario Party 3 for $5.

My dad found an SNES and 10 decent games for $3 for me. I sold that on Ebay for a nice profit.

A co-worker called today from an estate sale, guides and games, and consoles ... what to do???

I rushed over (sadly 30 min. one way) only to discover that just after she called, gamer (more like flea market) men made their way to the basement of the house and ransacked the game items...

I then take about an hour (it was a mess) to compile a box of complete or semi complete PC games (nothing special), a few N64 games (nothing special but complete) and a few guides ... Please note the basement was filthy, most of the items were on the outside, and I flicked off a roach or two...

I'm thinking $10 to $15 tops (seriously that would be generous)... and then the old "these are worth alot of money" starts the conversation... "sale just started today" follows ... (well yes, but someone bought all the PS1 games and who knows what else (Dreamcast was there but only one sports game)) For a mere $60? lol dammit what a waste of an hour ... but hey, I did organize it so maybe an ignorant gamer will pay $1 each Vs the $.50 they are worth ...

Nothing going on today here, but it's raining. I hit up two church rummage sales yesterday. Both were really disappointing. I ended up buying a blue willow plate and two small blue willow bowls for $1 total for my mom (she collects it). In the condition it's in, it's not worth much more than that from online listings.

Well yard sales may be done for me, but now I got the joy of going to flea markets. Heres what I got today.
2v2ysna.jpg

Crimson Skies High Road To Revenge - $2.00
Animal Crossing - $4.00
Shadow of the Colossus - $4.00
Gran Turismo - $2.00
Mortal Kombat 2 (32x) - $4.00 - I overpayed but I need some more 32x games so I said what the heck.

Yard sales are pretty much done around here, but I still managed to find a computer for $10. It's a sempron 2200 with 512 MB of ram on a gigabyte board. I haven't identified the video card yet. I'm hoping to sell it on craigslist for money towards the computer I'm building.

I checked the newspaper listings yesterday and saw a block sale listed . . . hit 5 sales and it was bleak. At the last sale there was very little of interest but (as it my habit) I walked through anyway and spotted a small cardboard box with some kiddie computer software in it . . . junkie kids stuff. But as I looked through it, I pulled these 4 out of it:

IMG_0193.jpg

The top ones are Digimon 3 and the original Crash Bandicoot. the Discs are pretty rough . . . the 3 have backart. The box was marked $1 each. So, I pitched $2 for the 4. She accepted and then I struggled to find 2 singles in my pockets. I handed her one and kept looking and she said "$1 is fine."

May be the very end of rummage.
if it can run xp you can probably get some sap to give you 100 for it
I doubt that I'd be able to get that much since it is missing the hard drive and disk drive. I forgot to mention that. I unfortunately don't have any spares.

finds102509.jpg

Slow weekend.

Links 2004, Chronicles of Riddick, Rainbow Six Critical Hour - $6
Silent Hill - $3
Thunder and Lightning - $3
Xbox 360 203w power brick - $3
Zelda LTTP, Mario Preschool, Kid Clown Crazy Chase - $12

this weekend i found a boxed n64 with tetrisphere, wave race 64, and one other game i can't remember atm for $5. already sold the n64 for $40 on ebay and i'm keeping the box for my collection. :)

I went to....maybe 4 sales today. Who even has a sale on Halloween? Well, anyway, I was just happy to find something.

3 N64 games, cart only: Super Mario 64, Army Men: Sarge's Heroes, 1080 Snowboarding
1 Gameboy game: Barbie Ocean Discovery (oh god what's wrong with me)
And a Sony 8MB PS2 memory card

$5 for all.

Not all of it was exactly found today, but I digress:

Genesis model 2 (hookups, etc not pictured) plus 18 games for $40

Good deal since I can sell a couple of the games and the system and make my money back, plus a bit.

finds110109001.jpg

$27 for the 40 NES games shown. Note-worthy games being: Dragon Warrior 3, Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3, Lolo 2. I kinda took a chance on this one, there wasn't a list or a good pic, but I figured, for less than $1 per game, I'd check it out.
