My city had their annual city-wide garage sale a little while back, and I've made it a tradition to scour the sales for games. Unfortunately, it seems this year dealers are getting to the games earlier than I am, and people are wising up about ebay pricing. I can't tell you how many sales I've got to and either people have already sold their stuff, or want outrageous prices for them. Reading through this thread, it seems several of you are running into the same problems.
Anyway, onto the haul so far this year.
I picked up this NES Advantage for $1 CIF. I've wanted one since I was a kid, but never had one. The lady originally wanted $10 for it, but it was pretty late in the day when I got there, and when I pulled out the dollar, she took it with little hesitation.
Dragon Ball - The Saga of Goku
Vectorman CIB
$5
This was a pretty sweet deal. If you know me, you know I love Dragon Ball, and I've been looking for a copy of the first 13 episodes for a while. They're so heavily edited and poorly dubbed that I didn't want to spend too much money on them. When I rolled up at this sale, I found the DVD set right off the bat. I snatched this up right away, and when up to the guy running the sale to ask about games. He brought out a box full of loose sports games, a boxed Sonic 2 and boxed Vectorman. I pulled out Vectorman and asked how much he wanted. He said he didn't know, so I gave him five, which he happily took. Hindsight says I should have given him more, or at least taken the Sonic 2, but I'm pretty happy with what I got.
Populous
Super R-Type
ActRaiser 2
$9
Milon's Secret Castle
$5
These were actually from a flea market that I went to after I got done Garage Sailing. Populous and Super R-Type were marked at $3 each, and ActRaiser 2 was $5. I CIF'd $9 for all of them, and to my suprise, the guy actually bit.
Milon's Secret Castle was from another dealer. She had a stack of NES games marked $5 each, all common games, most of which I already had. Oddly, she had Mario/Duck Hunt behind glass marked as "RARE GAME! $25"

Anyway, I only wanted Milon, so I tried to get her to come down a little by offering $3, but she held firm. I paid the asking price, which I didn't mind because it had the plastic sleeve and manual.
Street Fighter 2 CIB
$5
NBA Jam CIB
T2 The Arcade Game
$.50
Jurassic Park
$1
Street Fighter 2 was a fleamarket find. It was from a dealer I'm very fond of. They always have great prices, are very friendly, and are genuinely nerds about gaming, which is hard to find with dealers. I always pay asking prices with them, beacuse it's usually fair. SF2 has a pretty beat up box, but I don't really care because I'm not looking to sell it.
NBA Jam and T2 were both games I wanted as a kid. I found them in a box in a lady's driveway. NBA Jam is totally complete, it even has the plastic covering them game inside the package. They weren't marked, so I had to ask. She said 25 cents each. I paid right away. Of course I'll take two games for 50 cents!
Nothing special about Jurassic Park. Found it marked a dollar and just paid for it. I was getting late in the day and I didn't feel like haggling.
Bust-a-Move 3
$8
Galactic Attack
Robotica
Virtua Fighter 2
$10
NiGHTS
Free
Bust-a-move was found in the dirt mall from a shady dealer. It's marked $12.99 (on a sticker that I can't f%*#king get off!), but I asked how much anyway. He looked at it, and said ten. I noted the case had broken hinges and it's hard to get replacements. He said he couldn't go lower than ten, and I stared walking away. He called after me that he'd take eight, so I went back and bought it. I didn't really want to spend more than five, but he kind of guilted me into buying it. I won't go back to that dealer again.
Galactic Attack, Robotica, Virtua Fighter and NiGHTS were all bought at the same sale. They belonged to a lady's son who had moved out a couple years ago. The lady said she was glad someone else would get enjoyment of of them. Only Galactic Attack, Robotica, and Virtua Fighter were on the table, marked $5 each. I CIF'd $10 for all of them, and she gladly acceped. Later, as I was getting into my car, she ran out with a copy of NiGHTS and handed it to me, saying thanks for stopping at her sale. She was really nice!
Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner
$1
Chrono Trigger
Earthbound
Final Fantasy III
$9
This is pure bragging, since I got these deals at least two years ago. I was a big fan of Zone of the Enders, and I had both games until tough times made me sell them. I easily re-aquired the first ZOE, but The Second Runner was much more difficult to find. Two years ago I was at a garage sale picking through sports games when this gem popped out at me. I quickly paid the dollar and smiled all the way home.
The three RPGs I got five years ago. I was still in high school, and I was in the marching band. we had a saturday practice before a competition, and we had a lunch break. A few friends and I were walking to the store when we passed by this garage sale. We decided to go in, and I saw these games right away, marked $3 each. I knew what gold they were even then. I bought them without hesitation. I went without lunch, but it was soooo worth it.
So thats all for now. Sorry it was so long, it'll be shorter next time, I swear.
