Why did Philly want Jerome Harrison back after trading for him last season where they did nothing with him?

I don't think I can ever make it through any non-news article about Tim Tebow because they are all centered around his religious beliefs.

Sort of off topic, but am I the only one who is enraged when fantasy football gets covered on ESPN/other mainstream sports media?

Here's the scenario that I noticed most recently. My ESPN3 feed is set to show me NFL news before any other program apart from live football games. I turned it on yesterday as background noise while doing stuff around my apartment. The first thing that comes on is a segment called, "The Numbers Don't Lie" (or something like that) and some slovenly mouthbreather starts going on about passing percentages in the 3rd quarter and how it translates to poor fantasy numbers. I immediately turn it off for several reasons...

First, slovenly mouthbreather is obviously not a former player, coach, trainer, etc. in any sport, let alone professional football. I'm here for insight, not a game based on a game.

Second, the dude is straight up ugly. You're going to be on television, at least cut your fucking mullet.

Third, and most importantly, fantasy football has fuck-all to do with which teams win games. Random QB's completion percentage matters to me as it pertains to his team's ability to win on Sunday, I do not give a flying fuck about how many arbitrary numbers he is going to generate in fantasy football.

tl;dr - Fantasy football does not interest me at all, it is like taking a Halo tournament seriously, and if it gets covered at all, it should be covered apart from actual discussion and coverage of real games.

Looks like the only major inactive for the Browns this week is Peyton Hillis and Scott Fujita, which is big for that offense but having Joe Haden and Buster Skrine ready to go for their pass defense.

I noticed that they picked up a new #3 back in Chris Ogbonnaya , who worked with Pat Shurmur before and played with Colt McCoy at Texas as a receiving back. Seemed to be a direct response to Montario's issues with catching the ball and giving them a better option on third and passing downs.

Dude, fucking Stafford is a bum. Period. This guy isnt any better than Jon Kitna....he can only throw an accurate pass once every 15 plays. We could have had 2 for sure TDs if he would stop throwing passes behind WR.

I havent seen anything in this guy and I have been saying it for years that has proved that he is a elite level QB. He is barely even a game manager at this point.

Except that serious Halo tournaments bring in millions of dollars a year as well fantasy football. Not liking it is one thing but feigning like its pointless is ridiculous. They show it because millions of people like it which means there can be millions of dollars in advertising revenue generated from it.

Again, not liking it is one thing but pretending to be outrage about it is moronic. Part of the reason why the network has the money to hire camera ops, directors, etc etc its from advertising dollars. In order to get more money to have to appeal to more people...sorry you are not their sole demographic.

This kinda reminds me when people complain about why college football gets so much focus and special treatment over like the Band club or swim team. Then they look at the numbers and realize the only reason their program exist is because of the football revenue.

Bought into the hype then huh? I dont understand it, there was at least 3 or 4 dozen people saying that he could play.

To further my above point to halo05, look no further than the fact that the fantasy football thread here on CAG has roughly a 100 more post in it this the actually NFL thread.

I didn't buy into the hype, as I thought there was no real reason to rush Tebow out there and trading their best receiver during the bye wasn't a great sign either.
I think Tebow could make it as a running back, but yeah, I really don't think he's going to be a good quarterback.
I dont even know that. Running from the QB position is much different from running from a tailback position. I think he will be just a niche player with no real use other than flash plays.

I still think he has plenty of potential as a quality QB, but the offense as it stands right now isn't really going to help at all. The offensive line isn't that good and the receivers/tight ends are inconsistent at best right now.

I think Lloyd asked to be traded, plus he was on the last year of his deal and there was no way he going to re-sign.

I just liked to ham up the Tebow hype, because it was fun.

Well hey.. a nice drive there. Too little too late it looks like.
Wow, still though, even if the broncos wind up winning. No one blows games like the Phins.
Maybe they realized they should go ahead and "suck for Luck".

EDIT: Seriously, is Cleveland about to win that pillowfight 6-3? That's got to be a brutal game to watch.

Stafford trying to engineer a last minute game-tying drive against the Falcons.

The offensive line played like shit for the Browns today and forced McCoy to have to deal with a lot of broken plays and sacks. That Montario Hardesty managed to get 95 yards is a testament to their commitment to the running game this week since it took him 33 attempts to get there. The Seahawks were able to blitz consistently throughout the game to take advantage of the Browns' inability to create big plays under pressure.

The defense played a great game to take advantage of Lynch's absence and Charlie Whitehurst's inability to make great passes with the secondary and defensive line's best performances of the season. The defense has done a great job of giving the offense a chance to win for all but one of their games.

I was pleased to see Philip Rivers completely melt down in that 2 minute drive at the end, what he did is completely incomprehensible. Do the Chargers not practice a 2 minute offense? He threw down the middle for a couple yards at a time, tried to change the formation with the clock running, and finally threw the ball away with about 2 seconds left to stop it. On 4th down! He didn't even know it was fucking 4th and 3. He is such fucking garbage.

They still got screwed over on the defensive side of the ball though, I almost feel bad for Jammer. It was basically illegal to cover any Jets receiver while the Jets are playing pre-Polian pass defense. Then they gave Sanchez a 1st down when he really wasn't that close, without measuring it, and moved the markers and chains so it couldn't be challenged. The Chargers could've had the ball back with 2 timeouts instead of none.
Sparano first coach to get fired this year?

Or will the fact Tebow was returning to Florida save him another week?
No. He has a major part in the suck for luck strategy the dolphins are using.

Ugh, now I have to spend the week listening to Tiny Tims supports claiming..."see we told you sooo!!!" Yeah, its the Phins and he still played like complete ass and that performance is a joke for any real team.

But....its still a comeback win so congrats on that Tiny Tim but call me again when you face a real team.

say what you want about Tebow, dude just wins.

The Browns winning 6-3 is even more accentuated because those 2 FG's they hit were from 59 and 60!!

San Fran should thunder them next week at Candlestick.

Dude was terrible. He's lucky he played against the dolphins. You watch the game Destro? I was watching part of it on Redzone and when he would miss his targets it would be by a shitload.

They were 52 and 53 yarders, as 60 yards would've been a career high for Phil Dawson and nobody mentioned that.

Will Oakland put Palmer in during the second half? they're still in this game against the Chiefs despite the three picks, no McFadden, and the goal line stuffing.

The whole offense was horrendous up until that final 2:45 of the game, where they finally came alive and scored 15 unanswered points to tie it.

Any good, competent team would have never allowed that to happen.

I'm just happy they came out with the win.

Oh joy, McGahee has a broken hand. Isn't that just wonderful.
Here we go, Palmer is warming up. Looks like Oakland has seen enough of Boller...
Yeah, just checked the box score/gamecast.

3 INTs for Boller, including a pick 6....

Just goes to show how badly they needed to make the trade. Figure Palmer will suck today due to rust, but at least they have a bye next week so he has two full weeks of practice and some game experience today before playing again.

Espn.com had them listed at 59 and 60

Yeah, Boller was straight Grossman like. He did have one gutsy play where he scrambled for a huge first down right before the half but on the very next play he badly underthrows DHB leading to a pick.

EDIT: Oops, Carson Palmer will see your pick six and will match it...

Shows you how much they were paying attention to the game. He attempted 24, 48, 52, and 53 yard field goals and made the two longest kicks. It says 52 and 53 on ESPN, as well:

The Browns (3-3) didn't reach the end zone, but Dawson bailed them out with kicks of 52 and 53 yards, his first career game with two makes over 50.

You nailed it. I don't think anyone was seriously expecting much with less than a week of practice under his belt, but let's see what he does against Denver in a couple of weeks.

The Panthers looked really good today. If their defense can play a little better they should end up being a really nice team the second half of the year. 89 is back to being the beast he has always been now that someone can finally get him the ball again (Cam threw a couple beautiful balls to Steve during the game).

Also, thank you Jerry for shitting on Garrett's play calling. Forcing him to actually utilize a gameplan and not just have Romo throw the ball was a shrewd move that deserves praise. I love that they actually committed to the run and were able to run it down the Ram's throat. Romo is a QB who needs to have a balanced attack to be able to effectively utilize his skills in the passing game and today proved that again.

That's very true, as is your point about tons of people liking fantasy football. I'll never deny that. But look, I don't go into the fantasy thread here because it is clearly labelled and I'm not trying to be an ass. When I turn on a sports channel, I want to see sports coverage and news, not what amounts to something that has no bearing on the outcome of games.

Agree to disagree at worst but there it is.

I want Norv Turner to go away very badly.
