I fucking hate the Giants. The Packers lost to them on my birthday in 2008 and they lost last night. I am still pissed they gave that game away and didn't care. You could tell before the game started that Fox wanted to suck NY dick.

Oh please. The Zebras practically gave you the game. Only Strahan chose the Giants to win and Troy & Joe hate us. Better luck next year.
Peyton Manning is among the greatest QBs in NFL history. I put him in the company of Montana and Elway. Eli is great, has his ups and downs, but isn't in Peyton's league... yet.
Totally agreed. Eli is awesome but his brother is a 4 time league MVP, which is insane. Peyton is a top 5 all time great. Eli is an elite QB and has HoF potential if he can play at this level for the next 4--5 years but unless he goes on a streak and wins MVP in all of those years he isn't going to pass his brother. Still, if he gets us another SB win I'd take that over Peyton's 1 win any day.
That's a legal hit though.
Yup. Awesome awesome hit. I don't like either of those teams (but I was rooting for the 49ers) and when it happened I jumped out of my seat cheering.

So much butthurt.

I am pretty sad right now. I was at our last two playoffs losses in person (2007 NFC Championship and 2009 AZ Wildcard) and I always figured it wouldn't hurt as much when I am not there, but I was wrong.

The Packers beat themselves. Dropped passes and turnovers. I don't think It had anything to do with Rodgers sitting week 17, but damn would this season have felt better if those 6 td's where his and we at least had our hat to lay on that record.

Oh well, there is always next year.

Now off to Home Depot to get stuff to repair my drywall, from a fist sized hole...

I will have to say. I was totally wrong about this season. I posted early on that the NFL was sucking. Turned out to be a great season full of surprises and it still rolls on....

In my defense, I think the strike took away some of my excitment.

edit: Some of the early posts here are pretty good. Interesting to see who everything turned out.
Here's what I think will happen:

- The Eagles will under-perform, since they'll go in as the favorites, and thus play down to everyone's level, making situations worse than they really should be.
- The Jets will start off very poor due to Training Camp being so short, but will likely finish 9-7, missing the Playoffs
- The Redskins will start off good due to Training Camp being so short, but will likely finish 7-9
- The Patriots will continue to be the Patriots
- I think the short offseason will help the Baltimore Defense because they'll have less wear on them by the end of the Season than usual

OMG: Lions, Raiders, Texans and Cowboys

LOL: Panthers, NFC West, Bills and 49ers
Broly did pretty well.

Not surprised at all by the inclusion of Sheard and Taylor on the rookie team, though I'd have thought that Jason Pinkston would've gotten a nod at Guard since he's had a pretty good year despite being thrown in at the last minute.

You can always tell the people that know jack shit about football when they still think Green Bay either gave the game away or beat themselves .
Yeah, because Giants brutal pass rush didn't have anything to do with it. Eli just doing anything he wants to a dead last defense didn't have anything to do with it, oh and how bout the forced turnovers? yeah stfu.

ps. sigh saints fans really?
without a doubt, that was the play of the game.

but i mean, a td with 9 seconds left is pretty good too ;)
I loved the Whitner hit he's been lighting people up like that since high school.

He was a great player in college at Ohio State and did alright for the Bills.

The 49ers is a good place for him.
Yeah, I was reading a Saint's message board and they were going crazy over that hit. Some guys went as far as saying they lost because they lost Thomas to an illegal hit. Among other highlights, "49ers suck" "the NFL needs to stop letting dirty teams operate this way" and "I can't wait to play Whitmer again"... Why, so he can knock out Mark Ingram next year?

Oh I forgot this one, they were also complaining that the 49ers "piled on Thomas after the fumble to get the ball when he was clearly hurt."

Go play in the Arena League.
Stones/glass house much? How convenient they forget what their D did on their way to a championship merely two years ago.

^Honestly, reading their message boards before and after the game, Saints fans might be the dumbest in the NFL. (not everyone obviously)

I read some mind-blowingly stupid comments.

Doesn't hold a candle to the fan in that link i posted earlier.
I believe the technical term is 'blow'd up.'

The best part about this gif is how Aldon Smith comes in at the end, sees that Thomas doesn't have the ball and isn't moving...so he decides to butt fuck him, lol. That's right, Aldon. Always get them when they're unconscious.

Now that helmet-to-helmet is being flagged, it's only a matter of time before they get to butt fucking.

1/3 fumbles were from the pass rush, and the only dropped pass that I recall that you could attribute to the pass rush was when Rodgers misses Finley on like a 10 yard out.

We all know that the our (hey guess what, you can't say "our" with your team) defense is horrible, but that is something that we were able to overcome 94% of the time this season, but our offense just could cash the check that the defense wrote.

It's all good though, gives us something to prove next season, plus we lost 7 players in FA last year and signed 0, so we should get come pretty good compensation DPs.

No Fun League indeed. :booty:

That video only serves as further evidence of my long held belief that Packers fans are the worst in football. Stupid fucking bitch, they just won the Super Bowl last year. Try to be a fan when your team doesn't win all the time. If any fans deserve to be crying its the Panthers, Vikings, Browns, Seahawks, Bills, Cardinals, Lions, Jaguars, or even the Texans.

And next time, don't sit your fucking QB for 3 weeks when he needs to be playing at the top level.

Wow, if any GB fans are crying after that game they deserve to get punched! They had every opportunity to win that game. Heck, even the refs were on their side!

I was waiting for the shit storm to hit from the 49ers game. When I saw that with Thomas live I remember thinking to myself "That dude is out cold! I hope he's not hurt bad because it's going to be awhile before they get him out of that pile!"

I was shocked that they didn't throw a flag, not that I thought they should, but I've seem the yellow hit the fields for a lot less. The replay shouted that it was clearly helmet to helmet although out wasn't intentional. It's one of those deals where the defender goes in to make a legal tackle and the RB just happens to lower his head.

I was at the bar watching all the day's games when the Giants played the Packers in the regular season. There was a girl sitting at the bar itself about 12 feet behind us in an Aaron Rodgers jersey acting basically the same way as the girl in the video is, except for the actual tears.

This is right out in the open in public. She was yelling things like "NOOOOO!!, they can't win, they just lost their last four games!"

It seems to be a pattern.

That was a completely legal hit. You can go helmet-to-helmet on a RB because when he has the ball he is not considered "defenseless". Obviously spearing isn't allowed but a hit like that shouldn't get flagged.

+1 to that crying Packers fan needing to STFU. Whatever happened to the 5 year grace period once your team won? The Packers have the most titles in NFL history and they have been to 5 Super Bowls winning 4 of them. Just stop it. Of course, she probably isn't aware of any of this...

Helmet to helmet is for defenseless players and QBs.

edit: didn't see Javery post on this page before I made my post but yeah, what he said.

QBs and receivers have a nebulous protection for being "defenseless," whatever that means.

*This* is football. You could reverse the teams, insert any two teams, or even flip the result (running back blows up tackler) and I would still love it. I'm a *football* fan.

You can go helmet to helmet on anybody who is a runner. So once a WR catches the ball and "does a move related to football" it's ok to go heads with him.
By the way, if SOPA passed, the NFL could have CAG shut down for those gifs.
Not to get off-topic but I thought these psychos could only block foreign websites under SOPA?
Not to get off-topic but I thought these psychos could only block foreign websites under SOPA?
It's my understanding that SOPA has enforcement mechanisms to compel American companies (search engines, payment systems, ISPs, etc) to block foreign sites. SOPA gives IP owners the ability to get a court order for such things, including against domestically hosted sites, which can result in not just blocking, but taking the site down completely.

This^. In other words they could take down or block all sites US or foreign. Court order might have just been added since there was no semblance of due process in it's original form.

Jim Caldwell has been fired by the Colts, which isn't a huge surprise with the way they've been clearing house after a terrible season.

Tim Tebow's got the nod for Denver's starting QB spot for the beginning of the season, though I've already seen trade rumors about him.

They are going to release Peyton Manning (or trade him, if possible, which I doubt). It is the only thing that makes sense after all of the things they've done this off-season. They will draft Luck #1 overall, suffer through a 3-13 season and then, if they are lucky, another decade of dominance. This team needs a lot of work. Maybe Peyton plays somewhere else or maybe he retires thinking it's not worth the risk. It has to end sometime. Even Joe Montana, Brett Favre and other greats finished out their careers in other uniforms...

Yeah, I can't see Manning sticking around.

And I think it's wise. The Colts were 2-14 without him. Him coming back isn't going to make them a super bowl contender next year.

They need to rebuild, and you can't rebuild around an injured 36 year old QB. They need to move on and start over and just take some lumps for a couple more years while getting Andrew Luck broken in and building a team around him.

They should be able to get some draft picks from a contending team that needs a QB to try to win right now (like the Jets) that can help them with the rebuilding process.

It will be hard to trade Manning. Didn't he just sign a six year shitload of money deal? Nobody is going to want to take that on after he missed a whole year.

Disagree. I say keep Manning and let him groom Luck. He could really help accelerate the learning curve that Luck is going to face.
It will be hard to trade Manning. Didn't he just sign a six year shitload of money deal? Nobody is going to want to take that on after he missed a whole year.
No, Manning does have a $28 million roster bonus that kicks in before the league year begins. They can not, and they won't, trade him. He will either play in front of Luck, regardless if Luck likes it or not, or he will be released, which will be decided by both Manning and Irsay.

This is the definitive answer and gravity of the situation. This is what is happening.

I agree, the roster bonus makes a trade nearly impossible, he can't be traded before the bonus kicks in and that cap charge would stay with the Colts. That bonus would be a quarter of their cap.

Caldwell going from the Colts is a good thing, and as far as Tebow goes I think it would make sense to trade him depending on how much teams are fooled by the aura around him.

He's too inconsistant right now so unless the Broncos want to put in serious work to make him more accurate on a more consistant basis, maybe trading him while he's still "hot" and got the Broncos to the playoffs make sense.

Broncos are going to draft another QB and/or try to grab one in FA. The Gimmick is done now and it will only get worse if he doesnt truly get better in the off season.

Like I said before tebow is just the wildcat in human form. People are surprised by it at first and then they smash it later.

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...n-describes-rift-mark-sanchez-santonio-holmes

LT spoke out some about the jets situation. Said the relationship between Sanchez and Holmes was "as bad as I've ever been around" and put blame for the situation on the coaches.

"They created this," he said. "This is the type of football team that they wanted. Mike Tannenbaum, Rex Ryan are both brash, in-your-face type of style, say whatever you want, just get it done on the field. And then it leads to other things, as guys are calling each other out and saying, 'I'm not getting the ball' or whatever it may be."

LDT, that fuck doesnt deserve the LT nickname. Of course its extremely classy to throw people under the bus....LDT is one of the worst people in the NFL, I wish he would retire so I never have to hear of him again.

Bonuses do not count against the cap but either way the bonus is a lot of dough for any owner to shell out.
