Official 2011-2012 NBA Season thread
Can we give the spurs a ring already?
They have my moral support to win it all. Their solid fundamental teamplay is a breath of fresh air in a sport where that really shouldn't be the exception.

Now people finally appreciate the spurs? They've been doing this since 97-98 and they've been called boring this whole time.

i admit i lold
The Heat with Shaq were a contender for two seasons. That is it. They went to the ECF's and won a title. That is all they ever did. A healthy Kendrick Perkins in game 7 probably gives the C's two championships in three years. Since the Big 3 have been together they have won a title, bounced by the Magic who went to the Finals, went to game 7 with the Lakers in the finals, got bounced by the Heat who went to the Finals, and look like they are going to get bounced by the Heat who will go to the finals. Pretty impressive for a team that has a bunch of aging superstars. They have no first round exits and only lose to teams who go onto play for titles.

And people do call the Mavs a prototypical franchise. 11 straight playoff appearances, 10 straight 50 win seasons until this year, two finals appearances, and one NBA title make them a preeminent franchise in the league. They are the fourth most valuable franchise and have the longest current sell out streak in the NBA. They may not have had the success in the playoffs that they should have, but they have had a much tougher road to get to the promised land than anyone in the East (they should have won the title in 06, and they would have beat the Spurs in 03 if Dirk didn't get hurt). The only teams to win the West since 99 still are Dallas, LA, and SA.
Wade was hurt that first year where the Heat lost in the ECF. If not for that they probably win 2 championships with Shaq.

I've always liked watching them. I can't stand all the one on one, iso shit that most teams run. One of many reasons I'm a bigger college basketball fan than an NBA fan.

I want to watch teams run offenses, move the ball around, create shots for each other etc. Not 3 or 4 guys standing around watching the super starts go one on one.

Haven't always watched them, but with all the recent crap you mentioned of 5 vs 1 or 2 basketball, I'm loving the fundamental style of ball the spurs play. Do away with Manu's bitch ass flopping, and I might actually consider following them more often.

Ugh, I had to turn the game off....man when the Heat are not making shots its disgusting to watch. Run a fucking play why dont you...jesus for 1 second pretend you are an actual NBA team with some brains....your pick and roll iso are boring when its not working.

Pietrus and Dooling are a horror show. Their whole bench is, except Daniels who never plays.

Its easy to forget that their 6th man was supposed to be Jeff Green, who they traded Perkins to get, and he missed the entire year with a heart condition. Then Larry Bird came in and stole David West out from under them.

But "it wasn't about the money" says David West, the guy who took the contract with more money. /sarcasm

Nice to get a win. I hated blowing the lead, but a W is a W and the Celtics only need 7 more for another banner. Lets keep it rolling.

Idk wtf is up but the spurs can't make a bucket in OKC to save their lives right. It doesn't help that Ibaka is swatting or goal tending anything in the paint it's so annoying
Ah well end of an era with the spurs. Was fun while it lasted
Not quite yet but it's going to be an ugly ride to the finals

Have no idea why Pop now decides to put Blair in when he's killed Collison etc on the boards before cause splitter and doing shit but looking like gasol jr.Whoever was that baseline official was atrocious (ed something). Once i saw stern in the audience i knew order 66 was activated. Lol remember when the Nba said they would stop the Durant rip through foul? yea me either, anyway tie this shit up Boston, tired of these iso make 1 pass chucking bs

It was crazy how many times Parker got stuck on durant and he just made his way with him the switch D was awful. I see this series going the distance but Idk who's going to win game 7 the young team or the seasoned vets?

I thought this thread was already fitting the Spurs for their rings a couple days ago

I'm thinking this will be a straight home team series, and I won't bet against a Popovich-coached team at home in game 7.

Don't get me wrong I'm from SA and I'll support them til I die but their gameplay in OKC is plain pathetic and I hope the home court helps them make a few buckets anyways tomorrow heat and celtics should be really good

Rondo's getting some of the softest fouls called on him that I've ever seen. Pierce and Rondo both in foul trouble but Pierce's are his own fault.

Too many fouls in general, both ways.

Advanced had about 6 heart failures during those last couple of minutes, speaking of which Stern is having a tirade right now

Way too much whistle-blowing, both ways. A playoff game shouldn't be decided with two of the biggest names on the bench and half of each team at 4+ fouls.

Here's a tip for the refs: when two guys are battling in the post and they both fall, don't blow the fucking whistle. It's the playoffs; players are supposed to be fighting down low. Anything short of flying elbows should be fair game.

Love how it takes 5 games into the Wcf finals to finally start seeing these illegal screens jokelahoma has been getting away with, while your at it could you please start calling the obvious 3 seconds and wraps as well, blah who am i kidding they wont even call traveling anymore these days don't know why i expect it to be changed.
Srsly. I enjoyed the playoffs for awhile but it has become abundantly clear that we're just killing time at this point.

The Heat won't get swept but I don't think they'll take more than a game. We shall see I suppose.
I'm so dumb.

Trying to think whose offense is worse, on 1 hand you have a team whose point guard will either half the time take more shot attempts than the best player on the team and scoring champion or dribble the balls for about 18 secs then gets bailed out by lucky chucks. Then you have another team who only have 2 players of any relevance go iso every other possession try to shoulder tackle into 3 defenders and get bailed out by foul calls. Stern is going to get his wish for his superstars finals for all the bandwagon casual fans to enjoy, unless Advanced has some voodoo dolls to thwart it. I rather see Rondo than Westbrick anyday.

Also, YAK YAK

Working on it. I just need a finger nail, a piece of hair and some dead skin flakes from Mr. Stern and I can get him to do whatever I want! 9-peat for my C's? Hell yea.

On a serious note, game 5 with the C's/Heat tomorrow. Excited.

I think he's talking about the moment more than the shot? Game 5's are pivotal games that swing the series in the favor, while Game 2's aren't.

Good win by the Celtics tonight. This team has a shit ton of grit and balls. Can't wait for Thursday. My stack of new AC games is going to have to suffice until then.

Peruce shot was clutch but let's settle down here. The heat more just lost than Peirce shooting daggers. The heat just can't close at all probably because spo seems to want to play playground ball instead of real ball in key situations. It's ok to run an actual play at tr end of the game instead of letting everyone freestyle the entire time.

Also why don't wade and James screen for each other more often?

Clearly my basis lays with not hating the celtics I am just tired of them in general.

TBH, that Pierce shot was stone-cold badass since he basically stared him down, told him what was coming, and still hit the bottom of the net anyways. IMO, better than some of the last-second shot clock heaves you see. Either way, go Spurs/OKC/Celts

I'm ok with more Celtics. That means I get to watch more of Rondo. I do believe he's taking over Steve Nash's best passer in the NBA title. He's made some ridiculous passes, some of which at nearly impossible angles. That's fun to watch.

I'm still wondering why Bosh didn't play in the 4th Quarter.... I mean.. hell if anything... just save him till the 4th quarter if he can only give 4-5 minutes. The heat missing technical free throws, free throws, open three pointers... I love the Heat, but only the strong will survive. Win or Lose, I just need to see a better effort from them, and some better coaching from Spolestra.

About to turn this game off refs are trying to take over now and its making the spurs completely disoriented fucking dogshit. Giving a tech on jackson for LOOKING at someone gtfo.

I don't know why the Celtics wouldn't be a compelling story to anyone. Older team making its last stand, most of the roster heading for free agency, core of the team fighting just to stay together another season.

Troof... Its been that way since game 3 almost like the league pays off the refs so certain teams will win

Congrats Okc you certainly didn't deserve or earn it thats for sure, better put a gigantic asterisk on that finals run. Now watching that holy shit just think at what Boston could possible go through Advanced get those dolls out please your our last hope.
I can only hope that the Thunder are broken up soon
It's all the Laker's fault... they had no business letting OKC get Fisher away from them. To me that was the final piece.
