Official 2011-2012 NBA Season thread
Lots of hating going around in here
Mostly coming from you. I'll come back when you've cleaned the jizz off your screen.

Glad to see Miami back in the finals. However I think something clicked with OKC during that Spurs series. They had it too easy during the first part of the playoffs. Had they ran through the Spurs in the same fashion I would have actually given Miami a chance. But I believe them getting derailed the first two games in SA woke them up a bit. Going to be hard for Miami given how inconsistent Wade and the rest of the team have been during the playoffs.

Have to say it though, Rondo gave a hell of a performance the entire series. I love to watch him play.
hmm The Mvp going up against the REAL Mvp in Durant Okc in 4 maybe 5
You've been more fucking annoying than the commenters on espn/yahoo sports stories lately.

Ya idk what is going on with Wade he needs to step up.

Damn, dafoomie...dont get so upset man. You yourself said they were underdogs so why so angry? You just cant please some people.

Glad I dont have to see another C's final..not that I have anything against them.

As a fan Thunder Heat is a good series and either team can win for all I care...would rather have the Heat because I dont know how much more Bron hate I can take from the media. Durant will be getting back to the finals soon so he will get a ring hopefully in the near future.

Also yeah, renique has been super shitty for about 2 months now....at least he isnt posting constant bron gifs anymore.

It's just like look, we understand you're on lebrons nuts and you aren't a fan, just focus on something else. It'll be a fun series though, I'm glad either Durant or Lebron will get a ring.
Totally forgot Wilcox was on this team goodness to even get that far missing like 5 people is impressive.
Avery, JO, Green, and Wilcox with season ending injuries.
Ray playing with bone spurs. Pierce with a sprained MCL. Stiemsma with plantar fasciitis, MP with a somewhat bum knee.

This team had no business playing this far into June with everything they've been through, but they did and I respect the fuck out of them. This season of up and downs has been heaven and hell all at once, and I wouldn't take it back for the world. Love this team. I hope Ray and KG come back, but I get it if they don't.

From here on out, until the end of the Finals, its all Thunder from me. In 6. At least my second favorite team is still in it to win it.

That was a great series between the Heat and Celtics! Everyone knew that the finals would be OKC and Miami. All I want from the Heat at this point is to play hard and don't just hand the title over to OKC.
I guess when Lebron said not 1 not 2 not 3 he meant Eastern Conference Championships.

Man that press conference was so arrogant and obnoxious. It's really hard to root for the Heat after they pulled some shit like that.

But the fact that everyone and their mother is all of a sudden an OKC fan... uggh.

I gotta root for the underdog.

As much as I wanted a Boston vs San Antonio finals, it probably would have been boring but I wanted to see Duncan and KG duke it out one final time as their careers come to a close.

Does anyone know if OKC or Miami has the better team? It should be a fun series but on paper, which team is more stacked?

Team - OKC
Talent - Miami

I hope the team-based... team... wins. It'll only hurt the sport more if they don't.

I am not going to let this fall to the way side....what the fuck was the deal with Rondo and KG leaving before the game was even over?

Also...The Truth only had 1 FG in the entire 4th qrt......choke choke choke choke choke.

Emotions man. I'm sure there were tons of times when you said something or did something to a family member, friend, girlfriend, that you immediately regretted doing or saying after looking back on it. When your emotions are high, you don't think.

Now multiply that times 1000 against not someone you love, but someone you are competing against because you want to win.

It's like, if you and another dude are vying for a woman and she goes for the other guy, is the first thing on your mind to congratulate the guy?
Classy? Rondo and KG didnt even stay until the end of the game...they left with about 30 seconds left and was seen walking toward the locker room.

See.......if Bron did that you all would be busting a nut over that.
Gloria, is that you? Did you see the press conferences? Pierce and Allen getting a little teared up and thanking everybody for their time there, and Rondo and Garnett were congratulatory in theirs too. Lebron gave Doc a hug and told him he sincerely respected him, that was classy. The Miami Heat crowd gave the Boston Big 3 an ovation when they came out. Pretty classy. Don't know what your ill will toward the Cs is
Naw fuck that.......thats bullshit. You know why? Because if Bron did that its not emotions...its him being a classes, immature kid who has had everything given to him in life.

Its the thing that I hate most about sports...the demonizing one player over other for arbitrary reasons that waffle back and forth based on what is a better story. They both should be getting murdered right now in the media but of course.....ESPN buries that story because even though its the same negative behavior.

They left before the game was even over......I think a guy named Moss did that once and 5 years later people still rip him for it.
Ah so that's where you were going with this.

Yeah it is unfortunate because in the end, LeBron seems like a pretty decent human being. I think if you were trying to explain to a person who was just transported to this earth on why people hate LeBron James, I think 1) it would be hard to coherently describe the reasons why and 2) the guy still wouldn't understand why people hate him even after explaining it for an hour.

He puts up amazing numbers, plays hard on both ends of the floor, and plays unselfishly. When Chris Paul was going to the Lakers, people were doing cartwheels at the news and actually pissed off that the trade didn't happen. Yet when LeBron goes to Miami the complete opposite. How do you use that example when explaining to someone what LeBron did wrong, and still make sense?

CP3 didn't host an hour long show titled the Decision, thats the difference.

JVG said it last night though, stupidity has a 2-3 year statute of limitations. I'll forget about it by the start of the season next season.

He'd better hope so or his brother is never working again.

Perceived attitude. Cocky, arrogant people who don't back it up typically get hated on. Hell, cocky and arrogant people typically get hated on period. Its not just sports stars, but movie stars and people in general. You have a bigger problem than us in this thread hating LBJ or whoever.

I, for one, can't stand CP3, Melo, LeBron or Kobe. Those are probably my top four most disliked NBA players. I know a lot of people whose number 1-3 involve Rondo/Pierce/KG. Do I defend them? No, because everybody can have an opinion. Get over it, Soodmeg.

You know that happen close to 2 years ago... Get over it. ;)

In reality, it is all the same to me. Demanding a trade is sticking it over to the fans of the team/teammates/everyone in the organization (just like Lebron did). You can add Dwight Howard to the CP3 media show.
How many rings does LeBron have again?
Paul Pierce - 14 years, 1 championship, 2 Eastern Conference titles
Lebron James - 9 years, 0 championship (pending), 3 Eastern Conference titles
Pierce earned his ring at age 30 in his tenth season, Lebron is age 27 in his ninth season still playing for a championship.
Stop hating. Please.

CP3 played for a team owned by the league. He knew there was no chance of having that team winning anytime soon and no one would want to sign a long term commitment when they have an owner who doesn't want the team to win and cries foul anytime they take on salary. Totally different scenario than lebron and Dwight seeing as they have had a say in personnel decisions and they played for owners committed to spending money.

Also it wasn't the decision that bit him in the ass. He is still trying to live down not five not six not seven.
Thats bullshit and you know it. There are dozens of superstars from all sports throughout history who havent said a word to anyone for any reason and they get the same hate

$$$$a please.
Name five of them...

Paul Pierce isn't in LeBron's class, he's the best player in the league. Pierce was borderline top 10 at the best of times.

And if he wants to end the hate, if he wants to end the shitstorm he created when he said not 3, not 4, not 5, he needs some rings.
I am not going to let this fall to the way side....what the fuck was the deal with Rondo and KG leaving before the game was even over?
They congratulated Bron and the rest around the time when they were taken out of the game, wasn't shown on ESPN.

You said there were dozens...I asked for five...you gave three...the math is amazing...

I've never said anything about Tom Brady. And he and the Patriots are hated for the same reason every successful team is hated on: because they win. Doesn't help that Bill Belichick is a douchebag.

Alex Rodriguez admitted to using steroids. He bailed on Seattle, which was a serious title contender, to play for the Rangers, solely because they gave him an insane contract. He also had a chance to get a sizeable contract form the Mets, but they gave up dealing with him, after he started asking for nutty demands, like a section of the ballpark to sell his own goods. He also had that embarrassing moment when he tried to steal the thunder from the World Series by announcing he was gonna leave the Yankees...only to not leave the Yankees...

Besides shooting himself, while carrying a concealed weapon in New York City, a weapon with an expired license, Plaxico is well-known as a bad teammate who quickly threw anyone under the bus that he could find. And to diminish the stupidity of carrying a loaded gun into a crowded club is pretty silly...

Why don't you just ask us why Barry Bonds is hated? Or how about Ty Cobb?

By the way, can you link us to the video where Kobe televised his "Decision" and partook in a celebration rally before a game was even played? Oh, that's right. That was LeBron and the Heat. My b...

Soodmeg, every person EVER does that to every person EVER.

Case in point: I loan my little brother money all the time with the idea that I may not see it again, but that doesn't mean that if I loan you $5 that I'm not going to ask for it back. The same way that people in your family may get a pass, players on an individual's team will get a pass. Preferential treatment is nothing knew. Your ranting and raving of the subject isn't proving anything other than that. If you want to know why, its a human condition and if you're really saying that you DON'T do that, then you're lying. I'm positive that, at one point in your life, you've done it to somebody in your life.
Congrats to people dont mean anything...thats not the focus on what I am talking about. This is what I am getting at...how over the top pathetically hypocritical it is to murder a certain people just because....they are not on your team.

Thats bullshit..you know it..leaving before the game is over for any reason is classless, pathetic and they should be shunned for doing so but because they are your players "oh well...they gave them dap so everything is cool." No no the fuck its not cool.
LeBron did the same thing when the Cavs got knocked out by Orlando, Dirk Nowitzki did it too. I don't understand why this would matter to anyone unless you're looking to sieze on anything you can to rip the Celtics. The vast majority of the criticism is for not congratulating the Heat or shaking hands, only they did do that and it wasn't televised. They were emotional and didn't want to be on the floor, faux controversy, move on.

People hate LeBron because of the spectacle, he talked some wild shit and he hasn't backed it up yet. NBA players are the most entitled, arrogant pieces of shit in the world and even they find his level of arrogance and entitlement to be a bit much. They're "Hollywood as Hell" as Joakim Noah put it. Joakim Noah! Is there a bigger piece of shit than him? Apparently so.

As for the Celtics, ultimately they lost because their starters are old and had to play too many minutes in that game, as a result they were slow on their rotations and got killed on the perimeter. They either wouldn't get out to cover Bosh or didn't help off of him soon enough. Most of their offense comes off the transition as a result of their defense, and they've always been a notoriously bad half court team. So when their defense is getting killed because they have no legs, guess what, their offense disappears. Their starters couldn't come out of their game because their bench gave them nothing... Their bench had 2 points the entire game, from Ryan Hollins... The guy who got released from the Cavs this year.

It wasn't even LeBron that won Miami the game, as well as he played, if LeBron and Wade score 55 between the two of them you take that every day and run. It was Bosh and Battier shooting lights out that killed them. He's not Jordan and he's not Kobe, not yet.

Just noticed something,

Last year=Bron carried most of the work while D wade struggles leading to 3 quarters Lebron in the finals

This year=Bron carried most of the work while D wade struggles .....ruh oh!

That's good. I think that's the most once can expect. Although I still don't think it was professional to leave before the game was finished. Its not a big deal though. Its sad to know that the Celtics are going to be... in a sense, dismantled; however its scary knowing that Rondo is going to have some more dangerious younger weapons around him.

If my brother accidentally spills beer on me at a party, we won't get into a huge fight and I'll easily forgive him.

If you, Soodmeg, accidentally spill beer on me at a party, I'm pretty sure we're going to throw, or I'll at least be confrontational to you.

My brother gets a pass because he's my family.

You get nothing because you aren't.

Many people would give this same preferential treatment to sport stars from their favorite team. So, in a sense, you could replace "My brother" with Kevin Garnett and Soodmeg with LeBron James and it'd be the same thing from me. For you, apparently, it would be the inverse.

Your ranting about it in a sports context but everybody does it. Your problem isn't with Dafoomie or anybody else but human civilization as a whole.

You could also put it this way: If a member of your family hit your car with theirs in an accident, you'd probably be more understanding and willing to work something out than if some random guy did the same.
I gotcha....but to that I would say Sports Fandom isnt connected to reality like you are saying. For your analogy to work it would have to be....I spilled beer not on you but in a different bar, in a different city and you watched a video of it and had the same confrontational reaction.

My constant criticism of sports fandom has to do with the amount of outrage towards people in which you have never met, never talked to, never touched nor smelled, nor interacted with in any whatsoever.

Here is where I am coming from, I grew up in the hood where it was play sports or die in the hood. So like many others I did, I was good enough to get to college and play soccer there many of my friends played for D1 schools and 2 now play professional overseas. Even while playing there were 2 things I couldnt stand...jocks and sports fans. Why? Because both think that playing game gives them rights that no one should have.

A lot of these guys think that just because you were a jersey that have a right you everything you do in life. Then they do it so hypocritically it becomes pathetic. My friend once put on a red Boston hat...red happened to be the color of a rival school...then all of a sudden he is not loyal enough a trouble maker.....

My real rant is about 24 hr news and it thirst for headlines so they were crucify a guy just to have something to talk about in the next hour. Bron represents just how shitty humans can be because for all intents and purposes the guy has done nothing but change jerseys in a elaborate fashion...that alone makes him the same as a rapist, murder, coke dealer.

My only point is that everyone is just a guy watching a game on tv. Stop pretending that its more than that.
It's human nature to choose sides and form opinions. You can't blame a dog for licking its ass.

This, I think is the main problem. Lebron is probably the most polarizing player of the last decade, and any media coverage is, what I like to call, "A sickness of extremes." Last year's finals... NEVER GONNA LIVE UP TO THE HYPE... CAN'T GET IT DONE... Motherfuckers like fucking TIM LEGLER were bashing him for not being clutch. Game 6, UNSTOPPABLE FORCE, best player in the world, yada yada yada. There is no middle ground, they need the story. Unfortunately, they have such a wide base, their spewing the things you're taking problem in.

Stop your crying you sissy.

Lebron did the SAME EXACT THING against the Magic a few years back.

I think it's fine when you have guys like Steve Young, Mike Ditka, Magic and Chris Mullin criticizing players, but when scrubs like Tim Legler, Merrill Hoge, and Tim Hasselbeck start ripping guys, it's ridiculous.

Yeah the four letter network is brutal especially now since they seem to push Steven A and Skip. The 2 worst "analyst" ever.
