Official 2012 Yard Sale Thread
The problem is all the ones I see are cart only . . . this is a complete copy in really nice shape.

I feel that I paid $100 for it (as a share in a lot) but I have to explain the whole deal later.
I would put it up on Amazon for $185 (Collectible like new) and post front and back shots.... should net you the $150 (I would ship it priority/signature required) ... but meh, that's me , congrats on the find...

Friday-Saturday "finds"

Second sale on Fri. advertised games . . . but only had 5 PS2 titles. Instead had several boxes of books . . . many textbooks. I picked up over $400 in value for $20 but this pickup slowed me down for other sales :whistle2:(

I can't find my best find right now . . .
Not pictured a FF7 (PS1) complete black label with nice discs for .50. In a pile of crap PS1 games . . . nothing . . . nothing . . . bingo! Almost didn't bother to look at the one on the bottom.

These are from 3 sales:

$2 for Zelda, $2 for Jaws, $4 total for the 3 PSP games . . . tennis and golf are sealed.

I did see an Xbox with 100 games . . . all but 2 were crap (SW Battlefront and Morrowind). Guy wanted $300 for all and wouldn't sell the 2 games separate.

Finally, I found these:

Each marked $1 but I paid $2 for all. Pair of NES controllers, NES power, standard Nintendo TV hookup, a DC VMU, and an old-school videogame hookup. Not bad but not exciting.

Picked this up at a 10:00 sale on a Friday while I was on vacation. I was the first to arrive as they were setting up.

Sears Video Arcade II, Atari 2600 Jr., Sears paddles and Joysticks, Star Raiders controller and 17 games. $20. They were rather dirty but they cleaned up nicely. The cassett tape in the front is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Coming out of their shells. The guy then asks if I wanted a Commodore 64. Hell yeah! He goes out to his shed and pulls this old cardboard box out with the keyboard, floppy drive and printer. They are completely filthy, smell of either mildew or urine and have mouse droppings all over them. PASS!

Grabbed these at an advertised sale in a nearby town on Saturday at 7am. Pulled up as he was setting everything out.

The NES games were $1 each, the Genesis games were $2 each. Originally the guy had brought out a complete copy of Toejam & Earl but pulled it out saying "my daughter likes this one". He also had a Genesis system for $20 but I don't need another one.

This sale was near the first one and was scheduled to open at 8am advertising hundreds of games CDs and movies.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Grabbed these for $1 each. Only a few games, but they had boxes full of CDs. As soon as I walked up they said they would make me a deal on the whole lot. :whistle2:s I would guess there were roughly 1,000 CDs. Happy to get Thunder Force V. As I was walking away I heard them saying "well, it's 8:00". :)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Got to this sale at 10:00. They had a PS2 with mostly PS1 games. Nobody at the sale was interested until I started looking at it. All games were $1 each except for Digimon 3 $3 and Dragon Warrior VII $4 Which included the game guides.

I remember paying a shitload for that Metallica Live Shit box set. I bought the CD/VHS version first, then bought the CD/DVD set when it came out a few years later. It's still probably my favorite live album.

PS2 with modem, controller, two guitar controllers (not pictured), all hookups and 16 games $25. Odd having the guitar controllers but no Guitar Hero games, I went and picked up a few for $2 each at GS to go with it. This system went to my nephew who is getting lots of use out of it..... and driving my sister nuts with the Guitar Hero games.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Dukes of Hazzard thermos $8. $1 each for the rest. Grabbed the thermos because they are harder to get than the lunch box and the boxes bring a bigger premium when complete. I had a Dukes of Hazzard lunch box when I was a kid. Hoping to find one at a sale, guy at a flea market had one for $125. :whistle2:o

That digimon game is worth like $40 the last time I checked, I know because I have it, probably paid 50 cents for it a few years ago. The guide must be insanely rare, it would probably fetch a lot with the guide.

An update on my beta player, it seems to work just fine, but the tapes are former rentals and have obviously seen better days. Some of them have a lot of snow lines in them, and I don't have a remote to adjust the tracking. A few of the tapes are crystal clear though. I am not complaining as I got the tapes very cheaply, and that stupid remote I got with it is not for a beta player, its for some type of light up sign, and goes for like $15-20 on ebay. I will have to sell it. Kind of funny though.

Found this at a "Huge community sale" that included exactly 3 houses. :wall: Cobalt blue Game Boy Advance SP with two chargers, USB adapter cable, Final Fantasy VI and Lego Star Wars $6.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Intellivision II, Pitfall, Mission X and four
early eighties computer magazines $20. Ran across this at an estate sale. Apparently the guy was big into electronics in the late 70's early 80's. They had an original Intellivision without box and about 20 games they were asking $150 for. It was dirty as hell, so I asked if it worked. They didn't even have all the hookups for it. I offered $20 for the boxed Intellivision II, two of the games and four magazines which was accepted. They wanted me to take more of the magazines. They also told me I had missed out on a complete Commodore 64 that they had sold for cheap. The buyer had told them they were going to build a super computer. :whistle2:s Who did they sell it to, Lex Luthor?

Went out of town since the local sales didn't sound appealing.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Atari 800 with 12 games $35. His original asking price was $55 for everything individually priced but I was able to talk him down a bit, this was on the cusp of what I was willing to pay. I'd only heard of one more of these locally on Craiglist and the guy was asking $150. Now I'm curious if this is the same one.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Paid $4 for everything pictured. That is now my second copy of House of the Dead. Going to see what I can get from the Masters of the Universe lunch box.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

RC car $5 at the same sale as the previous stuff.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

XBox demo discs $0.50 each. They had quite a few of these, I just grabbed the ones with decent titles. WWII photo book $3. The book has hundreds of pictures showing different aircraft manuvers and tactics.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

70's Peanuts lunch box. $7. The guy said it was his when he was a child. Said he also has the thermos but couldn't find it.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Coleco Telstar Ranger $10. I tried negotiating down but they wouldn't budge. I probably should have left it. I think someone else here found one of these earlier this year.
You are catching up fast lol
And looking at a whole season of finds is turning me green with envy.

Some pretty nice stuff!

If Slowdive jumps in, I may die :D
You are catching up fast lol
LOL I'm on vacation and decided to do this since it would help unburden my mind. I still have 5 more posts to make to catch up but I'm taking a break until this evening. Looking at all this stuff makes me realize I need to slow down or start selling some of it off. Maybe both! I better decide quickly because there will be a large festival this weekend with many more sales.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Star Wars Battlefront II, Luigi's Mansion and Sonic Gems $1 each. Everything across the top was $1 total. The lady said it was given to her by a friend and she wanted to get rid of it.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

This sale advertised Nintendo and Genesis stuff along with CDs and DVDs. I overslept in the morning so I ended up missing out on all gaming stuff. The guy said someone arrived shortly before he opened and cleaned him out. This guy was a HUGE Beastie Boys fan. The items I have here is about 20% of what he had. He wouldn't budge off of $2 each so I just grabbed the stuff I really wanted or thought was unusual. The Three on the right are all imports. One not pictured that I can't seem to find is a Japanese import Rolling Stones "Music Box".

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

All the PS1 games came from the same sale and I paid full price, don't ask why I picked up Courier Crisis. Final Fantasy XII was $0.25 at a separate sale and is still sealed. No other gaming stuff at the sale.

Don't worry. I am still trying to buy a house, so you are safe for now.

Invicta 61 is killing it anyway with his finds! I love the old clunky stuff!

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Thought this morning was going to be rained out since it kept pouring until 8:00. Went looking anyway and ran into people setting up late. PS2 games $1 each. They had about 10 more but these were the only ones I was remotely interested in.

Found these at a name your price church community sale a few blocks from my house. PS2 with no cables, PSP Xia Lin (sealed) and an Optimus MPS-45 amp. Paid $40. Before you guys jump on me about the price, all proceeds were going to buy local kids school clothes. At least I hope I gave a fair price. I'm not really sure what the value of the amp is. I just recently picked up a bass guitar and started learning.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Found these at an old folks retirement home community sale. I wasn't expecting much but found these as they were closing down. Paid $2.50.
Also saw stuff like MW3, Battlefield 3, Black OP PS3 for $15 each but I already have them. I don't normally flip but that MW3 may have been a chance to get some value.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Only one find for this weekend. I remember unwrapping one of these for
Christmas when I was a kid. Paid $3 and it's complete with cars. I've been looking for Hot Wheels that I had as a child recently. The ones I'm mostly looking for are the ones that can jack up in the back end, the color changers and the ones that had the side pannels that would flip around like they were wrecked when they bump something.

At the same sale I picked up a large yellow Tonka dump truck from the late 70's early 80's for $3. Some of these have started to pick up value. Didn't take a picture because I put it out in my garage. If anyone absolutely wants to see it, I can go dig it out and take a shot.

You really didn't overpay, you just donated $30 for a great cause. More importantly, keep that amp turned down with the bass as you really need a bass amp... that one will blow out if turned up too loud...
chances are you can find a good amp on craigs for under $50...

great finds and pics...

While not a yard sale picked up a psp 1000 for 13.50 system, ac charg cord, Pitch Black (movie), prine of persia revelations, Star ocean first departure, patapon and 3x 32mb sticks all in a case

That's an old wive's tale! Guitar amps just make your bass sound really shitty. I've never done it, but I do think you're right that the speaker can get blown out.

I've been using a Peavey guitar amp for years for my bass, and it sounds grungy and dirty, but never blown a speaker.

Keep the distortion down on that thing too, will make it sound even more horrid.

Sony Betamax SL-HF2000 $5. Ran into this at an estate sale, they had two different models complete in box. I got this one because it looked newer, was complete with all packing materials, manual, dust cover, remote in bag and even the receipt. This is a 1990 model purchased in 1992 in California. I purchased this for my father who still has some of his Beta tapes. After hearing what Sara said, I wish I had purchased both of them.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

This sale advertised CDs, there was a whole tote full of them but these were the only ones I liked. $0.50 each.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

More CDs at $1 each. I think everyone around here is getting rid of their CD collections. The DVDs were $1.50 each. Angelina Jolie was soooo hot before she went anorexic.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Found these PS1 games at an advertised sale at about noon. I grabbed the decent stuff that was left, there was still quite a bit left but nothing worth owning. The regular games were priced $0.50 each and the Jampacks were priced $0.25 each. I ended up getting them all for $5.50, probably trying to clear out what was left. Since I got there at noon, I kinda wonder what I missed out on.

I've been working on getting a complete Jampack/Underground collection. I'm missing some of the early PS1 titles and some of the PS2 titles as well. I figure they're something not many people collect and I can get them for pretty cheap.

I think you beat me on the betamax since yours is in box and basically sealed. You definitely should have gotten both of them though, as the value for them is quite high. I assume that any random beta deck is worth about $50 which would make a decent flip if you paid $5 or under for it. I think that 2000 model might be the newest one made, so it should be pretty sought after, especially in the box. I haven't seen a beta in the wild in 12 years of yard sailing, and the one I got I had to ask for, but I live in an area where people didn't exactly own the latest most expensive electronics so it is very hard to find the more expensive things. I am going to take pictures of the rest of the things I picked up this weekend, as some of them are quite interesting.

I guess now I have to go on a quest for a Laserdisc player or a CED player...

If I had this baby, I wouldn't let anyone play a tape on it . . . I'd pick up something much cheaper for dear old dad . . . actually, I'd buy him copies of his old Beta tapes on DVD . . .

Actually, here is a better example:

Yeah, if I had that one in the box I would just sell it and get another one for dad! I could purchase several cheaper units even if I was going to go the ebay route for the price of that one! Also my beta is a SL-HFR70.
I guess now I have to go on a quest for a Laserdisc player or a CED player...
I'd stay away from CED Videodiscs, it's one format where disc rot is built in and a lot of collectors pass these up in favor of Laserdiscs. My father had a player and a stack of thirty that weren't worth diddly unless you were looking to drop them out of a window and assassinate someone

Haha, well I would only pay a really cheap price, like a dollar or 2 for one, so it wouldn't be a major loss if it was broken or busted. I am not going for a whole collection here. I have a CED of the Last Starfighter here so I have something to test it with. I haven't seen any of that stuff around here, though, but I shouldn't say that I won't because as soon as I say that it will appear.

Last post since sales were rained out this last weekend! I will be caught up and I can finally stop spamming the thread!

Advertised sale. Arrived late since I overslept (again!) at about 9:00. There were alot of people at the sale but they were all in their late 50's early 60's. I paid the full $3 each since people started showing interest as soon as I started looking at them. The total bill was $39. Now that I look at it, that was probably too much. They also had a dirty NES for $15 and SNES for $20. I passed since I already have more NES and SNES than I will ever need.

I think the only reason these were still there is because there were two huge city wide sales going on in surrounding cities. I almost think it's better to stay away from those huge city wide sales since it takes away from the competition locally. But the only reason I didn't go to them is because our office was being rearranged and the boss wanted me to go check on things to make sure it was going smoothly. :whistle2:( So after hitting this one up, I went in to work until noon. I went to check out one of the city wide sales afterwards but everything decent was cleaned out as expected. It drives me nuts that this ended up falling on probably one of the largest yard sale weekends of the year around here.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Went back to the same sale on Sunday and they still had quite a few games left. The NES was gone as were all the NES cartriges except the Super Mario 3 which wasn't there the day before. When I started digging through them, they offered to sell me both systems (they had a N64 inside) and all the games for $55. I declined because most of the games left weren't that good. I asked if they would take $1.50 per cart which they accepted. Got all of the above for $10.50, a better deal than the day before even though they were better quality.

WOW! I figured it had some value, but that's pretty amazing! That Ebay listing still has 8 days left and is at $136 as the machine only. I think I will try to get it back since he tends to put stuff out in his dusty, dirty garage. I'll at least let him know its value so he won't mistreat it. I originally had plans to convert some of his titles to DVD. There are some that he has that at the time were not available on that format, that may have changed by now.

I actually had a guy at a yard sale willing to sell me his Laserdisc player and some movies earlier this year but he asked me to come back the next day so he could dig it up. I never made it back since he lived out in the boondocks. Still, my favorite home theater find is the late 70's top-loading VHS I got for $3 a few years ago. I swear that thing weighs at least 40 pounds!

What console is the gun for? It looks a lot like my Kinect gun, but slightly smaller and with fewer pieces (and no light-up ball). And kudos for the Brisco County Jr DVD's, by the way. Awesome show!

My university had those huge woodgrain top loading VCR's (they are probably still using them today), They were so heavy they had them on movable carts, they looked like they weighed 60lbs or more each which they probably did. They were probably about the size of 3-4 betamax players stacked on top of each other. They also had laserdisc players, because one was used in one of my classes, only time I have ever seen a laser player used, also I was more interested in the player than the material being taught.

The gun is for a Wii which is fine since I don't own a 360.... yet.

I remember seeing advertisements for Brisco County Jr when it was on the air, never saw a single episode. The only reason I grabbed it was because it was $0.50! Hopefully someday I'll have the time to watch it.

I can't remember the last time I saw a Gameboy Pocket. Wish it was at the sale also! Something else I own that I have no need for.

I've started going through stuff I've gotten over the past few years via yard sales, CL, ect. I have waaaaay too much media! I think I'm up to at least four paper ream boxes full of just NES carts. Most likely 60% of those are duplicates. Time to set up a trade page and get ready to sell during the Christmas season this year.

That's actually my second copy of Digimon World 3 this year, I found a GH copy this past spring. I think I've found most of the Digimon games this year.

If you guys like old electronics I am loaded:

Here are the tapes that I picked out with the beta player, $1 for all:

$1 for the calculator a few weeks ago and $1 for the watchman this past weekend:

Cameras for 25 cents each

I picked up these with the camera's, $1 for the pair. I know that one is a portable VHS, but I have no clue on the other, it looks like some kind of cable tuner box, maybe someone can explain these to me? Also one comes with a case that is not pictured.

Teddy Ruxpin that works with 4 books for $2 and a 1989 See N Say for 25 cents. No tapes for Teddy Ruxpin as the lady said they rotted long ago.

I picked these up a few years ago for 50 cents. They connect to local CB radio, some of the dirtiest trash talk I have ever heard in my life!

So everybody here's an update on my Yard sale Moral dilemma. We went to my local shop(I have a very good relationship with the owner) and he offered us $300 for the lot. Plus on thop of that she let me take a game out before hand as a "honesty" reward(I grabbed Knights of the Round for SNES) plus my game guy slipped me a $20 for bringing her in(Never expected the $20 from him). So in the end for me being honest and upfront I got $170 plus Knights of the Round. Granted I could've gotten more had I not told my wife's friend but for being honest and doing very little work I think I made out pretty well.

When Odd Job stores were still around, I saw a crapton of copies next to the register. I should've bit, especially since I had a N64 then, but I was just so snot nosed kid. The only thing I bought there were Polaroid Batteries and Zoid model kits.

No amazing finds but this is from my past week or so.

Twisted Metal: Head On (PSP, Complete) for $2.50 (Pretty fun game too!)
Bad Dudes (NES) for $1.50
Lego Batman (NDS, Cartridge) for $5 (Not sure if this was worth it but grabbed it anyways).
Also bought a NES Case that looks like it may of been a very good buy. :)

Or, your brain says: "there are so many and its so cheap . . . it will never be worth much".

My only video game buy today and boy was it a good one. Got this for $5 and it's BRAND SPANKING NEW! SEALED!

Looks I'll be able to pay off for most of my Halo 4 LE copy now :D
Granted the sales rank on Amazon makes it look like it would never sell, but still . . .

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SL-HF200...726051&sr=8-1&keywords=Sony+Betamax+SL-HF2000

If I had this baby, I wouldn't let anyone play a tape on it . . . I'd pick up something much cheaper for dear old dad . . . actually, I'd buy him copies of his old Beta tapes on DVD . . .

Actually, here is a better example:

I don't think your dad really needs this . . . ;)
Geez, that Beta on ebay ened up selling for $699.99! :whistle2:o I can't imagine what I'll get for the full setup. I had spoken to him about it and sure enough he had put it in his garage. He asked me about it again today and mentioned it was still in the garage. I'm going to go pick it up here soon. He wants me to convert some of his out of print tapes to DVD with it. After that, it goes up for sale!

Hit some sales this morning since I'm on vacation. Not much, but I do have one find I'm happy with. Post to come.

You will have to let us know what it sells for after the sale is done! This weekend is looking like a washout for here though so I probably won't get anything, not like I don't have enough to keep me busy anyways!
