----------------------------------------------------------------------

FAQ

Since when did Amazon start doing trades?
The program began earlier this year and is handled by a third party merchant, NorAm International.

What kind of shipping does Amazon provide us?
USPS Media Mail

Do I have to provide my own box or envelope?
Yes.

Do all my games in the same trade-in submission have to be shipped in the same box?
Yes.

Can I send in sealed games?
Yes. They won't reject games that still have the original shrink wrap.

Can I add Delivery Confirmation and Insurance to my shipment?
Yes. If you’re worried about your package, definitely take advantage of these shipping options. You’ll just have to pay a little extra to ship your games. NOTE: There have been cases where the post office doesn’t allow adding these options on prepaid shipping labels, but try anyway or go to a different post office.

I don't trust Media Mail. Can I pay for postage myself? What's the address?
Yes. You're more than welcome to do so. The address is:
NorAm International
43 Broad st. C403
Hudson, MA 01749

When do I have to send my games once I have submitted my trade order?
You have 1 week to send your games.

Crap, I have one day to go before my shipment deadline, but the website states that my deadline has already passed. How do I print out a shipping label and packing slip?
Load up any existing order (if you don't have any, check your browser's history), and substitute the transaction ID for the trade-in order you need at the end of the URL.

How long does the whole trade-in process usually take?
From the time you send in your games, it may take up to 14 business days for the package to arrive. Most people usually receive their credit in 3 to 5 business days, however.

My games were received on Friday (based on Delivery Confirmation), will I have to wait until Monday to receive credit?
People have received credit on a Saturday.

Can I do two different trade-in submissions that add up to the requirements of the trade-in deal?
No. In order to qualify for any of the trade-in promos, they have to all be in one trade-in submission. You can't add another game later on to make the minimum.

I submitted my trade-in order online, how do I know if I qualified for the current trade-in deal? Is there a confirmation page or e-mail?
No. They will automatically send you a coupon code once they have accepted your shipment of games and credited your account.

Is the trade-in deal coupon in addition to the credit I will receive for my games?
Yes.

Can I trade in DVDs to take advantage of the current trade-in deal?
You may trade in DVDs to add credit to your Amazon account, but they will not be added to the amount you need to qualify for the deal.

When do I receive my coupon code for the current trade-in deal?
The Terms of Service states 10 days after Amazon has accepted your games and added credit to your account, but it usually takes 2 to 3 days.

Can I take advantage of the current trade-in promo more than once?
These deals are “One per household” unless stated otherwise. However, you may use a different Amazon account. The credit for your games will be tied to the specific account used for the trade, but the coupon codes for the deals are not.

If the coupon codes aren’t tied to my account, can I use more than one coupon on my next purchase?
No. Unless stated otherwise in the promo details, these coupons cannot be combined with other offers or promotions. IT DOES STACK WITH THE ECA DISCOUNT, HOWEVER.

I do not have the manual, cover art, or original case for a game I want to trade in. Will they accept it?
While the details specifically state that original packaging is necessary, people have reported in the past that their trades were accepted despite missing some of these. This is extremely YMMV, however. On the other hand, older gen games, such as SNES, N64, and GB cartridges, normally get accepted without the original box and manual, but still YMMV.

My game is really beat up, what are the chances they’ll accept it?
This is YMMV. Some people have reported in the past that they sent in games in bad shape that were still accepted. Your best bet is still to trade in games in mint condition. Minor scratches are expected as these are used games.

My game is the Greatest Hits version, but the one pictured on the site isn’t. Can I still trade it in?
Unless the game in question has two separate versions that trade at different values, sending in a greatest hits version is okay.

I have a game from a limited edition bundle, will they accept it?
If the game’s cover art has a UPC barcode, they will most likely accept it. If your game's cover states "Not for Resale" and does not have a UPC barcode, the game will most likely get rejected. Some people have had their games accepted in the past, but this is YMMV.

The UPC barcode is not intact on my game's cover art, will that be accepted?
This is YMMV. Just try it, but make sure to have more than enough for the minimum requirement to qualify for the deal.

So if they reject one of my games, am I disqualified from the current trade-in deal?
Unfortunately yes. The best suggestion for trading in games is to trade in $10-$20 more than the minimum for the deal. By doing so, you will still qualify for the promo even if one or two games get rejected.

I sent in my games, all of which were in pristine condition with the original packaging, but they said that one game is damaged and is now being returned.
Always pack your games well. Put a lot of newspaper around your games in the box to secure them and to prevent any damages from haphazard box cutting. People in the past have requested their entire trade-in order if it’s obvious the damage wasn’t their fault, and Amazon ended up accepting the rejected game. This is YMMV as well.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
Yes. Once you click “Trade in” for a particular game, you may change the quantities.

So if I find a good flip, I can just send 10 copies of that game and not worry about Amazon accusing me of stolen merchandise?
Technically yes, but do keep in mind that it might still raise red flags. No one has reported attempting this so we do not know for sure. 2 to 3 copies of a game should be okay, but more than that is pushing it. Also, keep in mind that other CAGs might want to participate in the current deal, and trading in a large number of the same game will definitely lower the TIV of said game. Let’s be nice to other people.

Wow, these TIVs suck!
While that may be true, you will most likely save more money because of the trade-in deal coupon code.

What the fuck? The TIV of a game I just bought for this deal tanked! What do I do?
The TIVs on Amazon fluctuate depending on the number of trades that are submitted, and we really can’t do anything about it. The best course of action for trading in games is to lock in your trade if you already have the games or are absolutely sure that you can obtain them. You can always edit or cancel the trade submission if you end up not finding the games.

So if I can edit a submitted trade, can I add other games that weren’t originally part of the submission?
No. Only quantities can be changed.

If I change the quantity of a certain game I have already submitted for a trade, will I keep the same TIV?
Yes.

Can I use the trade-in deal coupon on preorders?
Yes.

Can I use the trade-in deal coupon when shopping from other merchants on Amazon?
No. ONLY ITEMS SOLD BY AMAZON.COM QUALIFY FOR PURCHASE WITH THE TRADE-IN COUPON. Even Amazon's other sites (Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.jp, etc.) do not participate in these trade-in deals.

Does the ECA discount stack with the trade-in deal coupon?
Yes.

Can I use my credit (not the trade-in deal coupon) on items that are not video game-related?
Yes. This is the other perk for trading in games at Amazon since you're not limited to just video games.

Can I use my credit on items sold by third-party merchants on Amazon?
According to the fine print of the Amazon gift card use, some merchants are excluded. Your best bet is to try it on the checkout page of your order.
DesertLeo, Amazon Customer Service is usually very helpful in these cases.

But if you sent them in, wouldn't you be getting the 50% off a game/accessory coupon?

That's worth more than this $30 GC. And if you don't feel like buying any CE/LE's/Headsets, you could likely find someone to sell the coupon to for $50. (Considering they can save $125 on RB:Beatles or $75 on Prestige Edition MW2)
I sent in a separate order for the 50% off coupon, so I've already received it. But I might just check with them anyway, thanks for the fast response!
I know I'll probably get flamed for this but for anyone who's curious, I traded in 10 copies of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena in one order and they were all accepted.
*flame suit on*
I won't flame but if they crack down on multiples or the rules become more rigid well we all know why. and not picking on you we have all sent in multiples but ride the wave now while you can because when cags trade in 10 , more than likely didn't steal them when non cags do they stole them.
Ok, if I'm sounding too cheap here, let me know. Like i stated earlier, I JUST sent in a $63 order that they just received, so what're the odds of Amazon working with me on this one?
If it started today you win no?

They accepted my games yesterday at 9am and credited me, I wonder what the chance of receiving the 50% coupon today, its been 30 hours so far, whats the chances of receiving it today or in the early morning tomorrow....I really want to have my item ordered before I go to work on Monday morning, so my item will here Wed (my day off) with one day shipping of course.

Don't worry, I did the same and combined it with two 50% off coupons and a $50 off a console so I ended up getting an Ion drumset, 2 Blurays(~$30 value), and a Nintendo DS Lite for 10 bucks total.

Ok, nvm, looking @

KOTOR II
KOTOR I because its all around (2 copies)
Jet Set Radio Future
Ben 10
Brothers In Arms

Total $44 for $90.

Damn, I missed the 50% of trade in deal. Wonder if I should do this deal.

What are your opinions on this trade in $60 get an extra $30 deal?

If you were planning on using the 50% on a standard $60 release, it's a good deal. If not, you missed out. Still, flipping used games from GS (@ 1:1) is still worth it since it's $30 for little effort.

I went to a GameStop to check for KOTOR I and II and Battlefront II and Sonic Unleashed for PS2 and PS3. They only have Sonic Unleashed for PS2. So I think "Ok, just go home and get Battlefront II and Sonic Unleashed online." They only have Battlefront II online. Sonic Unleashed (PS2) shows up but it says "Currently Sonic Unleashed is not available for purchase and has been removed from your cart."

I'm going to miss the B2G1 but it still might be worth it if I pay for everything.

ugh, amazon raised the price of the ion drum rocker by $10... jerks

sent in my games on monday via media mail from CA and it still hasn't arrived.

Are the Gamestop flips on the first post the latest? I'll be heading out soon for the last day of B2G1.

Same here Ronnie. The earliest I've seen them arrive is 6 days apparently...but it sounds like it'll more be in the 8-10 day range.
yeah good luck finding KOTOR 1 or 2 complete. I checked like 9 stores and nothing and if you do find it, it won't be complete. I actually have a copy of both games but I'm going to hold on to them. Also why did no one keep their complete games when trading xbox games into game stop seems odd all these incomplete games.
I know for xbox games I was trying to save space, so I put the games into one of those media binders and got rid of a lot of the cases. I never thought about trading the games in...until I bought a new system and they could help lower the cost. now I keep the games and cases and bought a dvd stand.

I have been looking for KOTOR II for a while to play, but I was never able to find it anywhere near me. It is still more than I am willing to pay on Amazon Marketplace, and I want to play it since KOTOR I was one of my favorite games.

on my iPhone, so pardon the formatting, but I just submitted a trade with all these and it came to $65.25 I think. Picked up all 6 in the GS B2G1 for about $66 in store credit. So, basically just transferred it evenly to Amazon but will get the $30 coupon. =)

anyone know if theyll take jet set radio future's combo pack as jet set future radio?

do i have to rip off GS's used tag?

and finally theres minor damage to the cover art. will it be accepted or is it YMMV? thanks

lmao I found KOTOR II in store and didn't have coverart/manual.

Manual I understand but cover art...?
By the 18th. Do you guys think trades submitted on the 18 would qualify ? If not I would rather keep my games instead of sending them in
I think it would if you submitted the order on the 18th. Try calling customer service.
I think it would if you submitted the order on the 18th. Try calling customer service.
Yeah I thought about this, but it is my experince that customer service is clueless when it comes to these promotions.

Once an item is in your trade-in cart, than the value stays the same, correct?

IE: KOTORII will stay at $23.50 if I put it in the cart. I can change the quanitity on future days?

Will they accept it without the manual?

Also: Since B2G1 ends tonight, can anyone think up any good flips to GameStop to reach $60 with minimal GS credit cost?

On the plus side, the extra $30 coupon for videogames/accessories (in the videogame store, of course) is valid on purchases ordered before 12/31/09 and the promotion period is quite long (7/19-8/31, postmarked no later than 9/7).

So, while it's not as good as the 50% off one, it's still pretty good for regularly priced games.

I might head around to some GameStops nearby and check to see if they have any KOTORII copies left. Doubt it, but it couldn't hurt to check.

So, what TIVs are worth locking in today?

KOTOR II and KOTOR I
Battlefront II

Anything else good to flip towards $60 = $90 deal?

Another question, can I make multiple trade-in orders before shipping the first order?

IE: Lock in KOTOR 2 for one order, and lock it in for another. (In case I get more than 3 copies etc.)

Thanks to those that answered my question. I did call customer service and after a while on the phone I got nothing accomplished. Well I guess I'm just going to send them in. I was doing 3 orders and one I submitted on the 15th or 16th. So at least I know I'm going to get my Ions.

I locked in an order for KOTOR II and some other stuff, but I dont think I will be using it on this deal, I'll wait until something better comes along.

I'll still send in KOTOR II as a single item to get the trade in bonus, but I'll hold off until amazon has another 50% or such deal.

Ski Doo, MMSF3, 2nd post of thread. Depending on if you're looking for money makers or flat liners.

Might be a long wait if this $30 is good through 8/31. Have they ever done simultaneous trade in deals?
yeah, but I have a lot of backlog of games to play and I already did 3 50% deals so I'll be good for another month and a half.

BIA HH no longer appears to be on sale @ GS, it's just 17.99 used and not 7.99, so it's not a positive flip to Amazon... FYI as I went to the store and turned it down @ 17.99 final price.
Both the KOTOR are huge flips right now but gl finding one with manual. Locked in just in case.
Good luck finding one AT ALL (along with Star Wars Battlefront II). None of the 3 is available within 100 miles of me at any GS (which consists of at least 32 stores). And considering that I checked this last night when it first got posted it isn't because of this deal (as the stock would still be showing what they had yesterday). Those games are just highly sought after in general. You also may consider what they sell for on ebay before sending them to Amazon, should you be lucky enough to find one ;).
No, I don't think so - they started the new one up right on cue with the end of the last one. So I'd say this is it until September. I don't see any point in not getting at least one $30 off code. You can always find other stuff later if they bring back a better coupon. I mean, if it is really worth it (like the 50% off one) then you can always find something worth trading even if you take a small loss.

So I juggled around my last two submissions, cancelled the one I submitted earlier today, and made a new one consisting of two games I just picked up (De Blob and another Ben 10 Alien Force - thanks mkernan for the little list as I wouldn't have thought of De Blob). I moved the ones that only dropped 25-50 cents from my regular submission made last week to the new one for the $30 code (Star Wars Force Unleased, Rayman Raving Rabbids 2). I ended up trading a Wii Monopoly game to GS despite it getting $16.50 from Amazon. That's cause GS gave $15 for it ($22.50 after bonus). I should have enough other stuff left over for a second $30 promo trade - though it is a bit unclear to me if you can do it more than once. They still have the "one per household" thing in there, but it says it in this cryptic way: "Limit one discount per household, per qualifying order.". It seems if it is one per qualifying order, the inclusion of the "one discount per household" is kind of pointless. But I'm still not convinced you can do it more than once.

Funny thing about De Blob - it is in pretty bad shape and I will have to try to swap it at another GS store before sending it in. The funny part is that it had a Blockbuster sticker on the disc. I had traded a few of those myself to GS from BBV (when BBV had the B1G1 and De Blob was $14.99) but I know for sure I never traded one at this store and I would never have left a sticker on it like that (plus I wouldn't have bought one from BBV if it was in that bad a condition). So there's another person around me doing the BBV->GS thing which is somewhat of a shock since I'd never seen that before.

Is there someway to look up Gamestop's inventory online or something? I'm not familiar with how you would check something like that.

Uh, yeah - go to gamestop.com, look up the game you want, and type in your zip code. It is generally pretty accurate though it only gets updated once a day so even if something sold already it will show it as still being in stock until the next update.

I was just looking over the terms of the deal at Amazon again and while it does have that weird "one per household" thing they also have the following line in the terms: "In the case of multiple trade-in orders, the coupon code will be given for each qualifying order that is received.". So that seems pretty clear - you can get more than one $30 discount code. But there's enough weasel room with the one per household thing too that I could see it being an issue. We'll have to see how it goes I guess. I'll definitely be doing at leats 2 submissions since I have the games for it ready to go anyway.

I can't even find KOTOR II on Gamestop.com. I can find the downloadable Game Guide, but that's it.

I just made a batch for the 50% off deal that included KOTOR2 for 14 bucks. I figure it's a better deal than an extra 30 bucks but I do with there was a way to alter the order since I haven't sent it in yet.

If there is I'd love to know how.
I can't even find KOTOR II on Gamestop.com. I can find the downloadable Game Guide, but that's it.
Gamestop doesn't officially carry xbox games anymore in-store, so they don't list many of the rarer titles on their website, as it's limited to stock on hand and most brick and mortar stores have clearanced almost all of their xbox games.

So that makes it tough to find KOTOR II at Gamestop. On top of that, most Game Crazy's have repackaged their xbox stock into slim cases or no cases at all.

Thus, the chance of actually finding a copy of KOTOR II with the original case and manual is rather slim ... I'm still wondering if there are any retailers who might have new copies of the platinum hits version. I know Target used to have a ton of copies, but they've entirely dropped xbox support.
Could anyone scan a copy of the KOTOR II manual and post it?
I kind of doubt Amazon is going to fall for a reproduction of a manual, unless you have incredible printing and cutting skills ... I could be wrong ... a print out of the cover might work but the manual seems far more trouble than it's worth. However, someone did post a link to a website where you can order covers and manuals ... not sure what the address was but might be worth a shot.

Just to humor you though, http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.2478

Its worth purchasing the cover/manual since its... $3.99 from the website that was posted earlier.

$12.99 + $3.99 = $16.98 ($23.50 TIV)

Gain: $6.52

If you include the $30 for trading in $60, 3 copies = $16.52 gain each. Assuming you buy 3 case/manuals.

This flip is -amazing- and I suggest putting multiple orders to lock it.
