Yeah, there's definitely a lot of people who only want it because it's gone. Seems like this CE was a quiet release. Don't recall seeing any major announcements (but then again, it's not a game I'm interested in). It seems it just sort of appeared on Amazon.

I've been following development of the game pretty closely and it looked like we weren't even going to get the CE as the developers were having trouble finding a US distributor to agree to carry it. So, I think they didn't really do much promotion until the Amazon deal came together. I also suspect it's pretty limited simply because it only came together a few weeks before launch and I didn't see a lot of chatter about flipping here or elsewhere. In any event, I am looking forward to the game and CE and I suspect at least a few more copies may pop up on Amazon in the days before and after launch for anyone that missed it.

It was not available this past weekend for the PS4 on Amazon (although it was available from October 1 when it was first listed on Amazon until about Thursday of last week). I believe the Xbox One version has never been out of stock.

 
Even if stores limited preorders to 1 or 2 per person, people on slickdeals and on here will just use their multiple amazon or best buy accounts to order more.  It's the same as piracy, you can stop one way of doing something, and other ways pop up.

that why it should be limited to 1 or 2 per address and that the credit card used address has to match shipping address. that way no matter how many accounts they have it more then likely be same addresses which in turn should auto delete any duplicate orders

True, but an easy way to eliminate a lot of the flipping would be to require either a substantial deposit or full payment at time of preorder. Of course, this would also prevent people without credit cards or the ability to front the deposit from preordering. Ultimately, you just have to be closely following this thread and other similar sources and preorder immediately if having every CE/LE is important to you.

 
Love that they make the case the Book of Diamonds. Literally among the worst Scholar weapons ingame (Piety and Spell Speed....not a single point of Det or Crit)
 
thanks bojay your words of wisdom are the best ..........ass.  im an avid rpg collector and ive been watching lords of the fallen.  i was away for vacation and never got an any updates from amazon that this had become preorderable.  i dont care if something is limited rare or whatever.  i just like rpgs especially when artbooks and soundtracks are included.  im pissed cause so many dont care about playing but about dollar signs.  perfect example is hyrule warrriors only 300 made and that night 150+ were listed on ebay.  people dont care about gaming.  you will get some that literally will sit at the computer nonstop just to be a dick.  its the same thing with black friday super sales etc..

anyhow sadly i was sleeping so i yet again missed the restock =(.

You were somewhere in the world between October 1st and October 9th where you couldn't get smartphone or any other computer access for over a week? I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous.

As for the Nintendo CEs, I place blame squarely on Nintendo as they refuse to make them in a reasonable number and accessible to anyone outside of what is a relatively tiny geographic area through one specific store.

 
Keyword was vacation. A lot of people ignore the world when on vacation. Espically if they have kids, families, or doing something extremely fun/busy.

I have kids and a family and a job and on occasion we go on a vacation. I still can take 20 seconds out at some point in the day to place a preorder using my smartphone if something is really that important to me. The reality is that we all make choices in life and while I might be sympathetic if this was only available for hours or a few days, it was available for over a week. Like I said, I dislike flippers, but this doesn't appear to be a case where they caused some artificial shortage.

 
Yeah it was available for a week, that's very long. Complaining about the Batmobile I get, as that was what, less than a day or two?

Anyway I don't have money for vacations so I'm golden :lol:
 
first off i dont have a smart phone bojay not everyone wants to enjoy paying 100+ a month for a cell phone.  second it wouldnt matter i was away on a cruise.  3rd even if i did have a smartphone i never heard an announcement about the collectors til i got back from vacation as i was like i said away on vacation.  theres plenty of collectors that stay in preorder status for a bit by that i mean a few weeks.  lately some collectors editions arent even getting much public notification example being iffys nep rebirth limited edition.  im just going to have to wait it out and hope for the best.

 
the only CEs I can think of in the past few years that have sold out and been hard to get after launch are niche japanese RPGs, all the western title CEs have been a massive glut.  I picked up 50-90% off versions of AC4, Titanfall, Watch Dogs, etc post launch no problem.

Lords of the Fallen isn't reviewing very well, its a pretty niche western title, and its coming out during an extremely crowded period.  If you are patient and willing to wait a few months I have absolutely no doubt you'll be able to pick up a copy on the cheap, just set up an alert for CAG so you get notified when it does since the window for cheap copies tends to be very small.

As you say, its gonna be a lot of resellers trying to ebay copies they preorder, when that invariably fails amazon and others will get stuck with pretty big overstocks.

Fair enough, although I only pay $65 a month for voice and data through Verizon on an iPhone 6 and considering my wife and I use smartphones instead of a land line at home that was costing us $60+ a month before we got rid of it, the smartphone seems like a reasonable purchase, especially given that I can receive calls anywhere and access websites like CAG, Ebay and Amazon from anywhere at any time. It also seems like a better purchase than spending $130 on a CE of a game that might not be that good, but we all have different priorities and amounts of disposable income. In my experience, most major cruise lines offer free or low cost wi-fi, but I suppose you could have been on some lower end cruise ship.

In any event, I just don't agree with you that this disappeared because of flippers. If that was the case, given that it's Amazon and there is zero deposit or other obligation, it would have sold out in hours or minutes. This stayed in stock for over a week and while it's unfortunate you missed it, sometimes things are actually limited and you have to decide if it's important enough to you to either pay Ebay prices or to keep watching Amazon for additional stock.

There's the EA/38 Studios exclusive ones for Mirror's Edge, Dead Space, & KoA: Reckoning not sold at retail that come to mind. Also GS exclusive ones like Mass Effect 1, Forza 3, & Dragon Age Inquisition.

[The Bioware games even more so as they were GS Online exclusive & not sold in the stores.]

I don't believe any reviews have been released yet. There have been a few articles on sites like Polygon and Destructoid with reviewers discussing the preview builds, but nothing final yet. The couple of preview based articles I have seen have been generally positive, but nothing revolutionary or exceptional.

If you are patient and willing to wait a few months I have absolutely no doubt you'll be able to pick up a copy on the cheap, just set up an alert for CAG so you get notified when it does since the window for cheap copies tends to be very small.

As you say, its gonna be a lot of resellers trying to ebay copies they preorder, when that invariably fails amazon and others will get stuck with pretty big overstocks.

The Last of Us, GTA V, and Borderlands 2 all had their highest end LEs sell out and not become easily obtainable for cheap even long after release.

Unfortunately there are quite a few like that on here. And the people that call them out on it they will usually put on ignore, so it's kinda pointless. At least the mods have silenced a couple here in the past few weeks and it stopped them though.

 
How do people really make money off selling these games? Ebay takes a good 10% off the transactions already so unless you're holding something like hyrule warriors or neptunia, I don't see why someone would consistently take the risk of mass buying stuff when one bad purchase can wreck your entire year's worth of profits

Are you joking? The guy went on a rant about flippers and how he couldn't order the Lords of the Fallen CE because he went on a cruise for a week. I simply pointed out that being in stock for a week is a relatively good period of time and that the fact that it didn't sell out in hours or a couple of days is a good indication that it simply sold out and wasn't some hot flipping target. He then called me an "ass". I also pointed out that many of us have smartphones (to which the guy essentially implied I am an idiot for paying monthly service charges) and that most cruise lines offer wi-fi.

I'm happy to support fellow CAGs when they make valid arguments and I strongly dislike flippers, but I'm not going to just blindly support someone ranting about how something is impossible when they made relatively little effort to make something happen for themselves. By the way, there are only a tiny number of listings for the CE on Ebay right now, so clearly the bulk of these didn't go to flippers.

I also find it funny that AkgamerX is now the one playing the helpful supporter when he made it a point to attack other CAGs for being incompetent when they couldn't get the Idea Factory Neptunia LE a couple months ago and that was available for mere minutes. Of course, AkgamerX was more than happy to violate the ordering limits and hoard two copies for himself.

It costs flippers nothing to order their stock and much of what they order sells for significant margins over MSRP that more than covers the 13% Ebay and Paypal charge. They order from Amazon or Gamestop that both have insanely liberal return and cancellation policies and in the case of Amazon, you can actually ship directly to the buyer. Personally, I think these retailers should start charging a significant deposit and refuse to ship to third party addresses, but I suppose they don't really care as long as they move merchandise.

Seeing as how well the the stock market has been doing this month maybe it is time to start investing pureley in CE's.

Be sure to diversify. 10% in Lords of the Fallen, 35% in Batmobiles, 10% in Persona, 15% in Unity, 20% Monster Hunter, 10% in different NIS CE's, and finally to play it safe another 10% in Bitcoins.

If my math is right I've already made an extra 10% - I should become a full stock markety guy. Buy low and sell high, that's my motto.

i called you an ass bojay cause of your wording.  anyhow though reason why i said flippers suck is cause if you pull up ebay theres a guy who had bought over 20+ of the collectors edition.  i wish they would do like what nisa online store does.  your limited to 3 max and if you make fake accounts to buy more they ban you from their store on all ips that are the same.   either way been watching it past few days no restock yet and hopefully they just get extras from cancellations etc..

For some titles with limited quantities, we’re unfortunately unable to offer Store Pickup options. It would appear that the Hulkamania Edition of WWE 2K15 is one of those titles, and I apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

The limited nature of this edition is also why the Xbox One version could have easily sold out by now. I can’t guarantee there will be more copies made available in the future, but you can certainly keep an eye on BestBuy.com

I see you bitch about stuff all the time, and then you basically jump the guy cause you feel that everyone should have a smartphone, a plan for it, and check their email every 20 seconds. So yeah, I do think you're a jerk. If you can't see that, then then by all means keep trying to be Mr Internet Badass and tell people how they should spend their money on phone plans that you have and how they should be connected all the time. Maybe you should consider this is cheapassgamer, and some people don't want to do what you do with money. Quick to judge seems to be your motto.
