to those asking on nisa limiteds etc.. i own every single one they have put out. they are well worth the money to get. as far as the SE bs with kh 2.5 ce i finally got a response back after 2 weeks that they would send me a box but wouldnt send me a new sealed undamaged one. they said is this ok with you and i told them no i want either a sealed new one for my collection or a refund and now its been a week still no response. if i dont hear back from them on monday im just filing a chargeback with my credit card company to protect myself from losing out on money if they try to say its too late for a refund. this is why i love nisa's company sandi (the head rep over their and a sweet lady) makes sure that everything they sell is wrapped carefully.
You should able to do a refund through your credit card company, as many have a refund policy. This protects your future purchases with the SE shipping company.

That's fairly standard for collector's editions you realize right? NISA gets amazing reviews because they have to patience to put up with assholes like you
Actually, in fact, it's not standard. I've been collecting collector's editions for many years and out of the many I have purchased, only a small number have arrived damaged. Of those, every publisher or retailer I have dealt with has either immediately sent a replacement or offered a full refund. This includes NIS, Aksys, Bandai Namco, and even EA. Square Enix is the only company I have ever dealt with that took three weeks to respond, refused to take responsibility for the issue, blamed it's contractors despite the fact that Square Enix actually processed the payment and hired those contractors to handle the shipment and ultimately refused direct requests for refunds/returns.

I mean maybe in the great scheme of things, a damaged box doesn't bother you. That's fine. Maybe a small scratch on the game disc that renders a small part of the game unplayable is ok with you. Maybe a damaged art book or soundtrack is where you draw the line. Maybe a broken statue is too much for you. Maybe a slight tear in a plushy is your tipping point. The point is, every collector gets to make the decision about what they will and won't accept in a full price collector's edition and it's not your place or right to attack them for asserting their reasonable right to receive an item in the same factory new condition as other people did.

In my case, I received a game that had a 6" rip right from the bottom corner to the middle of the box and multiple dents and crushing throughout. To me, as someone who sometimes opens CE games and sometimes doesn't, but always keeps the boxes either on display or in pristine condition, having a nice box was important. If Square thought the box wasn't a big deal, they could have just stuck the plush in a plain cardboard box with the game, pin and tiny artbook and shipped it out. Of course, then some of you would have bitched that it wasn't a "true" collector's edition, whatever that means. Obviously, boxes have value to not only sealed collectors, but to people who buy collector's editions. Certainly, on the open market, a sealed undamaged copy of this particular CE goes for $200+ while the opened but mint ones I have seen are about half of that. While I would never sell and most others wouldn't either, clearly there is a measurable market difference in value between what we all paid for and what Square is offering to correct the problem they are 100% responsible for causing.

I only hope that when Square Enix delivers something to you that you find unacceptable that they treat you with more respect because waiting weeks for a response is frustrating and just plain wrong. If they didn't want to help us or thought our complaints were frivolous, they should have been up front about it. Instead they dragged it out and ultimately found the cheapest solution that satisfied them and did nothing to provide collectors who paid full price with what they paid for.

Lol a chargeback? And you denied their attempt to help you? They should ignore you, It's nice enough they're even offering you a new box. You're just being difficult & people like you are absolute sleaze balls who need mental help for being so irrational and dishonest. You got what you paid for, you weren't cheated, there is no theft, you're simply being absurd. They're not going to go remanufacture new copies of the box, game, and everything inside it because you got a ding or a crease in your outer box.

GET OVER IT, be happy you got one, lots of people didn't, move on to the next one coming out soon that you can complain about.
Seriously? If I buy anything brand new, especially a limited edition, I expect to get my item in an acceptable condition. Many people did not get what they paid for. Who would willingly buy something that is damaged? I would expect to be able to return the item for a full refund, which SE does not look to be doing.

Its their screw up so yes they should be manufacturing new copies. Maybe next time they will learn how to properly ship something. Considering how much it cost to ship it, should have been done in the first place.

If you open your CEs and like to display pristine boxes, doesn't a replacement box fix your problem? And if you'd never sell it, why do you care what they're selling for? So you can show it off and impress all the imaginary people who come to your house to ogle your video game collection?

Sucks for the people who received damaged CEs, but some of you guys are ridiculous. The "sealed" part of the box is just standard circle package seals. Get your replacement box, transfer your shit, get some seals, stick 'em on, and voila, now you, too, have a pristine sealed version.

But I guess those imaginary people would know what you did.

I think we should just move on from this damn SE debate because no sides are gonna budge. You're all entitled to your opinions. Let's just get back on track and talk about other CEs...

Has it been mentioned if the steelbook inside the Witcher 3 CE is different than the pre-order one @ Best Buy?  Wonder if I should bother getting them to try to add one to my pre-order since they did update the CE skus to offer it as a bonus, but it has to be added to cart (and the CE has been sold out for quite some time)

I didn't even realize that there was a preorder bonus steelbook for this game before. I have no idea if it's the same one that comes with the CE or not, but I'd imagine that it's different.

I also didn't know there was a separate steelbook as a preorder bonus. How do you know it's different from the one in the CE, other than Best Buy claiming it's a "Best Buy Exclusive"?

I originally wanted the 2.5 CE for personal use but now that I see that it's going for so much on EBay i'm tempted to keep it sealed and sell it in a few years. Only downside is that i'd have to buy a standard edition for myself since I really want to play 2.5. If Square does port 2.5 to next gen consoles, would the value of the CEs drop?

there was a picture

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Witcher 3 Exclusive SteelBook
I wasn't aware of this bonus, thanks. I find it odd that the description next to the Steelbook doesn't mention it at all. I'll pre-order this now. :D

not surprising best buy has the ability to make their own steelbook for every game release. since their canadian sub store is future shop, which produce steelbooks for games

Damn... I may just preorder through Best Buy as well. Do you know if in store preorder would offer the same? I don't really buy through best buy

the bestbuy one is the middle one. i saw the picture , before it was taken down. the left one is the one in the collectors edition

I don't think my Witcher CE preorder includes that extra steelbook. can't order again since it's sold out.

How does BB handle pre-orders made before Pre-order bonus was announced?

Great question, we might have to ask on the BBY Community Forums... I'm in the same boat myself.

Don't cancel your CEs. You probably won't get a steelbook if you ordered online prior to the promo. If you ordered in-store and they have them they'll probably give you one if you explain.

If you ordered online, then just ordered the standard edition if you want the steelbook that badly, and figure out to do with the game later. Either sell it, return it.

I posted on the unboxed Witcher 3 game thread if people who have already preorder get it. No answer yet

Yeah the CE is sold out so canceling the preorder would probably not be a good idea. Also, the Witcher 3 CE was never available for in store preorder at BB, I kept trying it on multiple visits at multiple locations and none were ever able to get through.

I already asked one of the forum guys via PM. He said something like "if you already placed an order, just cancel and re-order when the steelbook promo is listed on the product page"

So I guess that implies earlier orders won't get one.

I would bring up the fact that even if you cancel your CE it doesn't mean its instantly going to re-appear as in stock on the site for you to re-order and its possible that someone else could steal it from under you.

If they cant manually edit the order, I might just place an order for the regular edition. Chances are it'll have a $44 tiv at launch so basically paying $7 after tax for the steelbook isn't too bad.

Best Buy's system generally ties steelbooks like this to the order and requires that they be returned to do a refund.
Did they change it? It wasn't like that for Dead Island: Riptide, Avengers, Cinderella, Brave, etc, IIRC.

Plus, this is one of those times I would think the managers would understand.

If you're talking about pre-ordering through BB.com and doing store pickup or ship to home (which is how most of us probably preordered Witcher 3 CE anyway), the steelbook is a separate item with it's own SKU that gets counted as part of the bundle that must be returned to get a full refund. I don't know how store preorders are handled or day one purchases in-store would be handled, but if the steelbook is rung up in any way, it will need to be returned for a full refund.

It was this way for Arkham Origins and Prototype 2, at the minimum.

I'd like to see how much of the full price they keep if you don't return the SteelBook with the game. For me, if they make me pay ~$10 or maybe less I would be cool with that.

All of those examples are ones where you got the case immediately with a $5 preorder, so you never had to actually pick up the movie or game. Recently, BB has switched to giving the bonuses at pickup.

On another note, I was thinking about returning my Inquisitor's Edition content from DA:I and buying the SB case separately because that's REALLY all I want, and I stumbled across some eBay listings that showcase a different artwork:

These both appear to be Canadian listings, did Canada get a different SB case than the U.S.?

EDIT:  NVM, I scrolled down a few more listings and I see that it was a Future Shop exclusive.
When I try to pre order Witcher on BB for the ps4 ithe says the steelbook is for Xbox one. Anyone else getting the same thing?
I don't have an Xbox One or any games for the system, so I could be way off here, but I was certain that they both had the same sized cases now.
You can both rest easy, both systems are G2 sized cases.

How does pre-ordering from Walmart work? Do they actually have it in stock? Kotaku listed the Witcher 3 CE as "in-stock" an hour ago, but as far as I know, the search page has always looked the same. It says pre-order available but I believe it always said that. I would only pre-order if my copy is secured. Amazon, BB, Gamestop, etc. always informs me straight up, but I'm not sure about Walmart.

Yeah the CE is sold out so canceling the preorder would probably not be a good idea. Also, the Witcher 3 CE was never available for in store preorder at BB, I kept trying it on multiple visits at multiple locations and none were ever able to get through.
No they did, I've got an order with them from in-store. Got it the very same day it was first announced by CDPR IIRC, only had to put $5 down for it. (now that I think about it though, I better try and find that receipt since it was so long ago)

Re: the returning of the standard game sans steelbook - I had a tough time doing it with the Batman:AO "steel" they gave. I was finally able to do it per the manager, but he made a "one time exception". Hopefully the BB forums will give us some better info!
