Are the lithos even said to be the exact same ones sold on the store? They may have the same picture but could easily be made cheaper then the ones they sell on the store. Or could be a smaller size. That would make them worth less then $15 a piece.

Except you're assuming that people wanted those lithos that aren't even exclusive to the CE. Certainly parting this out you're not going to get anywhere near $15 each and I suspect most people would have been happier with just the game, a steelbook and the exclusive toy rather than being forced to buy lithos that aren't exclusive and which people could have bought separately if they really wanted them.
I didn't say people wanted them. I know I don't. I'm saying they wouldn't have priced it at $79.99 or even $99.99 for the game+steelbook+12 lithos.

I'd be ecstatic if I can get $150 for the lithos+game so I can keep the Claptrap and steelbook.

Ok, but you're saying that the inclusion of these lithos somehow made the relative value of the Claptrap seem more reasonable. I just don't think the Lithos factor into that equation at all. They aren't exclusive and they clearly aren't desired by most people, so they basically have little or no value to most purchasers and if you want the Claptrap, you're still gonna be out $400+ even if you can part out some elements down the road.

My impression is that the lithos are the small versions. The Gearbox store had two types of character lithographs. They had the "limited edition" ones which are 16x24 and limited to a print run of 300 and the mini lithographs which are 6x9 and are not limited. The price difference is $40 versus $15.

Since the collection only includes BL2 and TPS, I would assume that the character lithographs would revolve around the 8 playable characters in each respective game and the other 4 would be DLC characters (Gaige, Krieg, Handsome Jack) and probably Moxxi or some other well known character in the series. The press picture shows Nisha and ClapTrap (different pose and color), two lithographs you currently cannot purchase on the store. The other lithographs I can somewhat make out, such as Zero, Krieg, Gaige, Maya (same pose and color as the ones sold on the online store).

So the overall price for the package isn't outrageous I suppose...

15 x 12 = $180 for lithographs

$60 for the game

Roughly $10 for the steelbook

= $250 for the other items, $150 for the ClapTrap robot

Long shot I know, but if someone is buying the Clap-Trap bundle and is interested in selling the game and steelbook case ( :xb1:) or just the steelbook case ( :xb1: or :ps4:), let me know and maybe we can work out a deal.

Figure out the dimensions of the box for width and length and that will tell you how big those lithos could be.

Don't need to. I am 99.9% sure it will be the smaller size. You can't fit a 16x24 lithograph in a box. It either has to be rolled up in a poster tube or shipped flat. The ClapTrap robot does not look like it will need a box that big anyways. Also could you imagine a CE giving out that many lithographs?

Again, that math is meaningless. For most of us, the lithos have a value of next to nothing and the resale value on Ebay if you part them out could be very minimal indeed. A lot of us also have GCU. So, you may as well say $48 for the game, $10 for the steelbook and $350 for the toy. In the end, it doesn't matter because if you want the toy, it's $400 plus tax and maybe shipping depending on where and how you ordered it.

He's not listing what the contents are worth to those buying it, just what Gearbox/whoever is putting into the box to come up with that price. It's certainly not worth a back and forth over...

It's really the same thing though. Unless you know the actual cost of those items, it's meaningless math.

I never said if it is valuable to you as the buyer. I am breaking out the costs and why the item is priced a certain way. It is also smart marketing on the part of Gearbox because they know if you want the ClapTrap robot you will be paying a premium since they priced the bundle in a way to force items on the buyer. I agree 100% that many people would probably prefer to buy the ClapTrap only as that is the coolest part of the collection.

I wasn't trying to incite anything by listing out the contents or breaking down the MSRP of the collector's edition. With that said, everyone is different. Some people may find value in the lithographs. Others may not. Some people may find value in a steelbook whereas others will not. You cannot reasonably assume that the value is next to nothing just because you don't care for it. You also can't assume that everyone has GCU. That's why in every single thread it specially states with or without GCU.

Out of curiosity, where did the claptrap edition come back in stock at? I didn't get an alert from camelcamelcamel, so I'm hoping it wasn't amazon.

Good deal. Thanks! I managed to get a web store order in yesterday there, so that works for me. I'd like to put in an order somewhere else too, just in case it doesn't work out as a back up.

If I get an extra, I'll sell it to a CAG at cost.

No pics, the only info I could find was that they were part of last month's announcement along with Skyrim, Bioshock, Evolve, Fallout & Evil Within pop vinyls.
Awesome. I would be down with so many of these. I will have to keep checking Amazon to see if any of these 'pop' up.

(Sorry, that was lame.)

Any info on the batman arkham knight limited edition still available on bestbuy . All I saw was a pre order now page to order now
A lot of people pmed Walmart for $62.xx so it probably isn't coming back online but you might still be able to preorder it in store.

Same.  It actually wouldn't take my credit card for some reason (maybe I was typing too furiously?).  I picked Paypal, and there's a pending charge already now.

$435.64

(I did the $10.99 2 day shipping, because why not?)

Gamestop did the same thing.  There's was a little cheaper since their shipping rates were way too much for me to consider anything beyond free.  Something like $20 for 2 day shipping.

Aha, figured it out why it wasn't going through.  This was in my email after I checked out via paypal (because my credit card transaction wasn't processing):

I almost want to pre-order that just for the claptrap but no, and not just no but fuck no. Such a gigantic waste of money even for me. I've bought enough pricey collector and limited editions that were stupidly expensive but not $400.

The Claptrap CE is too rich for my blood and who says the US economy is in the dumps. If you can easily afford a Claptrap CE, than you got money to burn. Sadly, my CE limit price is $200 and under. Unless that Claptrap can follow me arounf and bring me a beer :p don't know what else I can use it for.

could always hook a small 4 can cooler bag to it lol

While true this isn't for everyone, I offset the expense by selling my other collectibles I don't want anymore, the extras this item has like the games and lithos, and having no children also helps. So, anyone wanna buy borderlands games for ps4 and some lithos? $400.

Hmmm...interesting idea...

Better idea....,maybe I should just order this...NO! Not even for beer!

Ha, that's how I justify that kinda stuff for me. If I were able to maneuver money around in a way that claptrap came out to $150 (assuming I liked the character more), I'd totally do it. This will work sometimes for certain CE's, especially if they're very limited. Dump the junk you don't want on eBay and keep the things you do.

Honestly I want that claptrap, but I could probably build it myself with the help of my friend who builds a lot of similar things. be much cheaper as well. This thing is a freakin RC. Shouldnt cost anywhere near $400

How about a life size Marcus Fenix statue for the next gears game?
Would that be worth it for you ? Well given that you are a gears of war fan ?

I didn't realize that the claptrap alone cost $400.

The logic in this thread never fails.

A) I don't like it/want it/can't afford it so no one else does

B) I don't like it/want it/can't afford it so it must be overpriced

C) Because I don't want it or I think it's over priced it will never sell out and I'll buy it from Best Buy (or some other retailer who doesn't even carry it) when it goes on clearance

Then of course item sells out.

D) WTF I really want this GD all the resellers

I wonder what would make me bite at a $400 CE. I have no idea what franchise it would even have to be for me to consider it.
Perhaps one example would be a reasonable CE? example something that'd never happen but xx anniversary of insert game here which comes with download codes for the older games in the series and comes with steel books of the newer ones this past year up to current release really would depend on the franchise as well ;o

It doesn't cost $400 by itself, that includes the game and all the lithos. Right???

Anyway, your logic is spot on. :D

Yeah and people here still give me all kinds of shit about my opinion, and other local STL collector's opinions, of it being better than the Borderlands 2 CE.

I'll take an 11-disc soundtrack, statue of main character, replica belt of said character, 2-disc blu ray set, and the last two games in the series with all DLC at that time vs. a Steelbook, bobblehead of a side character, a comic book download, and a DLC weapon pack that's useless after 1 hour of gameplay. Both came in cool boxes and had various amounts of artwork included so that's a wash. And they had the same MSRP's.

Yeah had I waited 1-2 years I could have gotten the 360 version I bought day 1 at 1/3 of the price. But the PS3 version pretty much sold out and stayed that way so why would I take that chance to not own it on the system I have a fightstick for and have all my other fighting games for?

This is an easy problem to solve, just get both of them. :)
