Got my Witcher 3 CE today along with the bonus steelbook. I had to search through the 6 steelbooks they had though because every one of them was dented to heck or scratched. Luckily the last one didn't have any dents and only a small paint scratch.

Unfortunately the box was a little beat up. They had 2 and one was ontop of the other crushing a corner (not balanced). Amazingly enough the one on the bottom was in better condition as the top one was ripped. Guess I'll take the minor bent corner and dented outer wrap over the torn one! Might swap it at my local GS because they've got an extra one that is unclaimed there if the condition is any better.  Luckily they're good to me and the damage isn't rough, only noticeable to someone who cares about such things.

Edit: Looking at the receipt though, I don't think they applied the $5 preorder I had put down on it :(

Is it the Asian auction? It was tempting but $45 after I just spent over $100 in the last month on Persona anime vol. 1 & the Gwent decks I couldn't justify it.
 
I can't believe I actually got a copy of MGSV collector's reserved! Sucks to pay for it all up front as I would have preferred to use my GCU and some trades, but at this point in just thrilled to have one at all!

This statue in the Witcher CE is awesome quality to me. By far the best statue I've ever gotten from a CE.

The Witcher 3 CE is very large/heavy. Haven't opened mine yet but I think the "amiibo" size/quality bitching in regards to the statue is unjustified

 
Got in on the Phantom Pain CE at Target.  I'm not one for statues or stuff like that.  Gonna try to lower the cost of the game for myself and sell off the stuff I don't need on here or eBay.  Shit, if it gets high enough I will sell the whole thing and buy digital lol.

 
I just called my local best buy store to make sure they had a preorder Witcher 3 steelbook set aside for me and they had no idea what I was talking about.

The first girl put me on hold and then hung up....the second call I got a guy who said he would do some more checking cause he didn't see them anywhere, have to wait for him to call me back after he asks around.

C'mon Best buy, WTF.

How does stuff like that even happen? If you pre ordered, it should be there with your name on it. I would be pissed. I hope it works out for you man.

Hello everyone-

We understand that some stores did not receive these steel books in time and we absolutely apologize if your local Best Buy store did not have the steel book ready for you when you went to pick up your pre-order.

While we understand that this situation is less than ideal, we recommend that once your store has their steel books in stock, you return to the store with your receipt (if you’ve already picked up your pre-order) and they should be able to provide you with your steel book.  This is the best way to ensure that you get your steel book as quickly as possible as we expect that any stores who have not yet gotten their steel books should see them arrive yet today or tomorrow at the latest.  Please make sure that you are returning to the store where your pre-order was placed and picked up.

Hello again everyone-

To answer some of the additional questions that have been posted:

  • The store not having the bonus steel book should not impact your ability to pick up your pre-order of the game.  The game is not in the bonus steel book, it is a separate item.
  • All stores who took pre-orders of the Witcher 3 should be receiving the bonus steel books for those pre-orders.  They should be arriving yet today or tomorrow at the latest.  My advice if you pre-ordered in-store or online for in-store pickup is to call before you go to pick up if you live a long way away from the store and don’t want to make an extra trip.
  • If you pre-ordered in-store or for in-store pickup and did not receive a bonus steel book, you’ll need to return to the store to receive it.  All versions of the Witcher 3 were to receive a steel book.

Yeah, my store had the books stickered ontop of the games (or CEs) with people's names on them. Looks like they had about 3 or 4 extras too that weren't stickered to anything. Lady at the register didn't know what to do with it, so scanned it and it rang up at like $60 or something -- she called for a manager who came over and told me that I didn't need a steelbook because there was already one included in the collector's edition! :facepalm: I told him that the SKU just wasn't on my receipt because the CE was preordered before they offered it. I guess he talked to someone else and said that it SHOULD ring up @ $.01 so they overrode it and that was that. I think they forgot to apply my $5 preorder though... hope that doesn't screw up the $10 cert too!

Sounds like maybe your store was one of the ones that didn't receive them yet though :( Hopefully when they DO you get a bit easier of a transaction than I did.

They actually said the opposite for people who preordered on BestBuy.com. In fact, they specifically told us we wouldn't be getting the steelbook as the offer wasn't even announced until after the CE was sold out.

I remember someone in here mentioning that they had asked a BB Forum rep about it and the rep had said it was supposed to be extended to all pre-orders. Guess I either heard wrong or a BB rep was speaking out of their ass. I'd imagine it's rectal speak, most likely.

Yesterday, a BB rep posted: 'In regards to the Collector’s Edition pre-orders; Yes, you will also receive the Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook! If your Collector’s Edition is being shipped to your home, the shipment should also include the Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook, aside from the already included Collector’s Edition specific SteelBook. If you’re picking yours up in-store, you’ll receive the SteelBook when you pick up your copy."

I just got my CE from BB.com and the steelbook was thrown in the box. Shockingly, it was not damaged. Not that I care, but there's no title on the spine.

Hello everyone-

We understand that some stores did not receive these steel books in time and we absolutely apologize if your local Best Buy store did not have the steel book ready for you when you went to pick up your pre-order.

While we understand that this situation is less than ideal, we recommend that once your store has their steel books in stock, you return to the store with your receipt (if you’ve already picked up your pre-order) and they should be able to provide you with your steel book. This is the best way to ensure that you get your steel book as quickly as possible as we expect that any stores who have not yet gotten their steel books should see them arrive yet today or tomorrow at the latest. Please make sure that you are returning to the store where your pre-order was placed and picked up.

And this is why I don't preorder video games from BB. GCU isn't worth the headaches dealing with their staff.

Surprised it's a shipping issue & not a couldn't find them issue like it was for Batman: AO Metalpak's.

Looks like you probably got your answer already, but yes - BBForums said we're supposed to get it, and I picked up my CE in store and got it (albeit with the aforementioned troubles)- it was actually stuck to the top of the CE with one of their infamous stickers with my name on it. Can't vouch for online though.

The problem seems to be with preordering in-store; my game and steelbook are waiting for me at home...hopefully undamaged.

 
I went to Best Buy right at opening this morning hoping they might get an extra Wild Hunt edition but they had none.  No one there had a single clue about anything regarding the Witcher 3 besides the normal copies that were sitting on one endcap.  Like four employees held their arms up and went around to different parts of the store asking various managers and workers what is the deal with the Steelbooks and where are the special editions.  After a number of requests I was able to get them to bring the steelbooks out from the back, and finally the hardcover strategy guides too.   They learned that the steelbooks were for pre-orders but after a couple of brief requests I was able to get one as a walk-in.  It never hurts to ask nicely and tell them exactly what you want.

In the end I was able to score the game, a steelbook, and the hardcover guide for $78 after tax.

It could come from either source. You can choose in store pickup or ship to home. I did ship to home this morning
 
Good that I checked the two packages from BB that arrived at my desk at work, they were my BB CE for Witcher 3 and PS4 standard copy. 

Once again,  BB ships two items separately in bubble mailers that should have made it in a single boxed shipment.   Yay.

Thought they stopped with that foolishness.  Guess not.

How did they fit the CE in a bubble mailer?

 
I was contemplating whether to preorder Witcher 3 yesterday just so I can get the BBY GCU bonuses but decided to pass for now. Reviews for the game were great but I couldn't get myself to pull the trigger at the last minute since I was thinking this game will be a grindfest and i cant get into a grindfest right now. grrrr! oh well. money save.
