Now I'm pissed, my preorder pickup for the steelbook is out of stock and unavailable.

I really hope they have some more coming in.
 
Ended up going down to Best Buy and grabbing a copy of MH World.  Sadly, the Steelbooks were all gone by the time I got there.  Anyone get an extra? Lol

 
I *know* people don't read the thread. I've posted already about the availability of the steelbook on Amazon.de for LESS than $15 shipped.

I currently have a case of them on the way to me.

Ok, there's something weird going on with Life is Strange: Before the Storm Limited Edition on Best Buy. It was listed for a while as a digital download. Then recently they added a version that doesn't say Digital Download. So I pre-ordered it yesterday and in the email it said digital download. So I go back to the product listing and if you search for it, it comes up as a regular copy, but if you click on the listing and go to the item page it says digital download inside.

Then today they removed where it says digital download.

So I don't know if it's a physical edition or not yet.

 
I just preordered Monster Hunter World (PS4) last night and I had to drive 30 minutes to next closest store to get the steelbook. My local store had sold out too.

Well, my MH steelbook came in a fantastic bubble mailer and of course had some BB sized dents. None in my local store and no replacement online. Anyone know if there's a way to talk to someone at Best Buy who understands this issue. Both CSRs I got were nice but oblivious.

Yea I purposely had it shipped to store for pickup for this very reason. Glad I did. Both Steelbooks were in perfect shape. I do not trust Bestbuy to ship steelbooks.

Check back in a week or two. The steelbooks are GONE. I had mine deleted from my Jan. 7 pre-order and I just received my game today with no steel. Stores were not able to fill all their steelbook pre-orders either. There's some bottleneck in the MH steelbook distribution somewhere and I'm sure they'll have them in a couple weeks.

 
So I went to Best Buy to pick up my copy of DBZ collector's edition. However, when I went to pick up, they did not have it despite it saying online it was ready for pick up. It was funny the excuses they were trying to come up with. First, it was because Bandai or Best Buy had a glitch in orders. Second, it was because I had only put a $5 pre-order in which I told them it made no sense because whether I put $5 or paid full price if I made a pre-order I should (for the most part) be guaranteed what I had order.

So the rep had offered me the vanilla version of the game for half-off, I then asked if they had the Day One Edition in which they didn't but they could overnight it for me at no extra charge. In the end, I had asked if I could get Monster Hunter instead in which they did. Rep went to back, came back with the manager and offered me the game for $10 DOLLARS! I took that offer.

Here is the funny part, I had a strong feeling they were going to mess up my order and I would have been okay with it because the collector's edition doesn't even come with the season pass. So I decided to see how far I can go with this and it went better than expected.

Same thing happened to me way back, but for the Bravely Default Collector's Edition.

The only difference is that I went in right before they closed, which made it double stressing for them. They were sweatin' hard! They gave me all kinds of excuses initially, but once they realized it was on them, they tried to go out of their way to appease. Somehow the manager got a connection to another store in a neighbor state that had one copy left.

Just remember that you get more flies with honey, so don't go crazy and get mad because that won't get you anywhere. Silence is the most powerful thing in moments like these.

Best Buy actually did a good job in shipping this Steelbook. Mine arrived in a box with air packets and had no issues.

 
Well I'm salty I let the MHLE PS4Pro slip through my fingers...  But I didn't need another PS4 anyway.  Contemplating one of the Destiny 2 Cad for $100, but I need that even less.  I might actually save some money on games this year.

I don't think the special edition was really ever that hard to get. It was the Non-Stop Climax edition that was kind of hard to find. This was the best version also as it's the only advertised way to get both games on a cartridge instead of Bayonetta 1 being a download code only.

Correct. It's possible either way, though, there's been precedent for both cases. Setsuna worked in English, but things like the Mana collection don't. If it's anything like Vita imports, it's the difference between Japan and "Asian-English" R3 releases and probably won't come with subs.

 
Looking at the previous games that released with American eShop only release and physical release in other countries, I am taking my chances with Bayonetta 1 supporting English language.

So far the only few games I have seen that don't have English language support for the cartridge never got an American (or otherwise English) digital release on the Switch.

FYI they were caught offguard with the demand for this game since nobody could have predicted just how well it would have taken off for a game unproven in the West. As such, they're taking care of customers here. They're expecting more in the future so you'll be able to replace it then. I had to contact them about my steelbook and DLC since neither has come yet for my order. GF was able to get a steelbook from a pre-order made on Thursday but no DLC yet. Weirdly enough, that one came in a box with packing air so mint condition. Been a minute since I've seen that but I've yet to have a steelbook come damaged so *shrug*.

Mine was in a large cardboard box with three tiny air packets...Needless to say it's pretty scratched up from shipping. Why can't they get this right?? Seriously, I think every steelbook I've ordered from BB comes damaged. I'm gonna have to start picking up in store, even though there's not one real close...

Hopefully they'll come back in stock and be able to replace them soon!

I'm always surprised people get steels damaged from BB on here as that hasn't been my experience at all. Suffice to say, I'd be looking at whoever is doing a shit job delivering your mail because it doesn't leave BB's warehouse damaged. This coming from a guy who stopped shopping at amazon because 100% of my deliveries were damaged due to poor packaging practices. They flat out don't care and put everything in paper envelopes at this point.

This is the only thing holding me back from picking up one as I just want a certain steelbook. Figure I just wait for a empty one to show up on ebay. I wonder if we have a trade thread hear on CAG for those of us who want to just swap for a specific steelbook, if not we should might say a lot of headaches.

Yeah, I pre-ordered my copy I believe the same day they announced the steelbook and still don't have one. I am definitely not happy about it, but nothing I can do about at this point. I called customer service to see if they could send me one, but they couldn't and said that the store may get more in. I'm going to ask about it again when I go in to pick up some stuff after work, but at this point, I've considered it a lost cause.

I don't expect to get a steelbook now and it does suck, but I am also not going to throw a fit about it since I still got the game and my GCU discount on it.

Yea I get the gripe. But the endless posts over there about how they are entitled etc. are just ridiculous. Not to mention that they explained what the delay was, and apologized for it. Yet there are kids still spouting off repeat insults about not getting their Steelbook. Mistakes happen. Also, those same people are vilifying people who are selling the Steelbooks on eBay which in itself makes no sense.

I think a lot of it just comes from consumer frustration. As gaming has gotten more complicated over the years (pre-order bonuses, exclusives, multiple limited editions, etc) there is an increasing amount of consumer burden to keep up with it all and get what you, the person buying the thing that keeps these business operating, wants. There has also been an increase in retailers screwing the pooch on all of these same things. Pre-order bonuses not handed out, CEs oversold, pre-orders cancelled, poor shipping practices resulting in so god damn many damaged items.

I know that people can be entitled jack asses, but I dream of a day that I can just spend my hard earned money on a product, get what was advertised, get it it undamaged, and have no additional head aches to deal with. That proposed situation seems to be the exception, not the rule. That's just my two cents, at least.

That's whats great about being a CAG. We hear about everything. You order where you need to order, if you can. We get what we want to buy. There are seldom any problems.

People have just gotten so used to the cycle and the routine that they sometimes lose perspective on the benefits of their greatest resource.

I'm of the other mind. Young consumers are mostly entitled jackholes. The AWD thread was evidence of that.

I agree that there is no use in crying about it or running Best Buy through the mud for it. I am actually more upset that Best Buy was apparently selling them for $20 and then eBay sellers are selling them for even more than that. This should have never been sold, especially by Best Buy when they can't meet the pre-order demand for the item.

I feel like I constantly buy portions of games and never get the full game due to all the hoops you have to jump through to get all the content in a lot of these games.

 
Basically Capcom and U&I (supplier of the steelbook) screwed over Best Buy by massively under supplying the steelbook and now they have to deal with the customer fallout. My store only got 14 of them to cover 35 preorders. Surely BB would have taken the offer off the games preorder page long ago if they knew how few would be delivered. :nottalking:
