Finally got an order in for Spider-Man CE at bestbuy. At least now I won’t have to take a chance of waiting for someone to not pickup their order at bestbuy
 
I can take photos of the DQ CE if anyone wants to see, but there really isn't anything to see, I didn't even open mine yet, just been too busy.

Spider-Man CE at BB has a clickable "preorder" button right now, but can't be added to the cart. Why do so many sites work that way, where it looks like the item can be ordered, but shoots you down when you click it?

When bestbuy shows a item as coming soon that is a Pre-Order. Whenever a order is cancelled it is then added back to the listing to be bought again. That is why it keeps coming back in stock randomly. These are a quantity of 1 so you have to be lucky to grab it. Usually the ones who have it saved in there carts grab them as they have a edge. It will show up for them before the page updates, usually by the time the button is clickable, its already gone.

Technology constraints. The database knows it's not in stock and will kick back any requests, but the front-end (website) isn't checking the database to see whether the button should be clickable every millisecond. It's most likely refreshing the button something like every five minutes; if every item was pinging the BB database every millisecond the entire system would be in gridlock.

TBF they did list the game and the CE as separate items when you added the CE to your cart on checkout so I can't say I'm surprised by this.

I do agree with you though that companies should just pack in game in the CE box rather than having it separate though.

Still on the fence with the CE. Curious to ask this and get some opinions. A member here yesterday misconstrued a post of mine and lambasted me regarding scalpers. I digress...

I am interesting in the game, and the only way to get the steelbook is with the CE, so that would be my first and probably only buy. That being said, the 'rarity' of it may be either a low production, or flippers. Hence why I posted what I did, I can't get a gauge on if I should buy it now because it's actually limited, or wait a few months and get it for half price. After getting burned on plenty of CEs before (looking at you Ni No Kuni 2 CE), I'm very careful on which I buy now.

Also, has anyone noticed the MASSIVE hail corporate campaign for Spiderman? Every damn website I go on has articles, and stickied ones too. Even non gaming sites are posting about it. It's honestly turning me off of the game with how much in your face and blatant advertising going around, especially on reddit.

Potential game changer regarding Best Buy.

Got a game delivered today and I open it and it had one of their labels slapped on it that they usually do for in-store pickup that said "ship to home."

Now, I'm guessing this was a fluke or a one-time thing. My shipping notification from UPS said something like Best Buy SFS, which I'm not sure what it means, but my guess is the game was actually shipped from a nearby store instead of a warehouse? So maybe SFS stands for "ship from store"???

But either way, something worth noting in case this becomes a trend. I know you guys hate those labels on CEs lol.

I had an issue with my Ni No Kuni 2 CE. Preordered it day one in August 2017. I was actually the only preorder at my local Best Buy. Go to pick it up, and it was utterly destroyed. Looked like it was kicked around, dirty and dented. I was livid, especially at the cost of it at $200. Even a $10 item should never be treated that way.

I find out they shipped it from the warehouse to the local store in the truck with just a label smacked on the actual CE box, which was why it was bounced and thrown around unprotected.

This has happened to me with BB every now and then for the last 5 years, but only with older CEs that have been marked down in price. It's never happened to me on a new release.

Which game did it happen to you on?

I truly think the CE is limited, It was sold out at BB almost instantly when it first went up. Gamestop had a short restock in July and then one a few days ago but those were most likely canceled ones. There are only 140 current listings on ebay, if Scalpers got them there would be a lot more I would think.

It was just an older game, Yooka Laylee. I decided to just buy a cheap PS4 copy instead of paying top dollar for LRG's Switch release.

It's impossible to know 100% during the preorder phase, but it's doubtful this one makes it to half price considering how fast it has sold out in preorders.
 
Nearly all games past a certain age at Best Buy are shipped from store stock. That's why you might have noticed that they get flooded with CE stock after a game has been out a few months.

Wait till you get an Amiibo shipped like that (shipped from store rather than warehouse). It will be hell to remove the sticker if you just buy them to collect.

While I think the price is too high for those contents, being a huge DW fan I would have still enjoyed owning this edition. I just wish that they would make these things available at other retailers because I have funny money to spend with them.

Is anyone aware of SE having gift cards that can be bought at other retailers that can be used for purchases like this?

I'm in the same boat, I really only wanted the steelbook. I would've much rather paid $70 for a steelbook edition than bought the entire CE. It seems like overseas they got a steelbook edition, no such luck in the US.

Anyhow, I really doubt they go down in price with how limited this thing appears to be. And yes, the amount of advertising has been absurd.

Not a bad move. I've had the game since it came out on PS4 and have barely touched it. My wife wanted it because she loved Banjo-Kazooie, but she didn't get that into Yooka Laylee and from what I have played it didn't blow me away either. I'd probably play it more on Switch myself, but I am skipping the LRG release as well. I've decided to only buy games I plan on playing from LRG from now on.

On an unrelated note. I really wish the Spidey PS4 Pro included the steelbook case!

Amazon removed the picture with the steelbook for Spiderman base game. I contacted customer support, and they questioned where I saw a steelbook. I canceled my order.
 
BB release date changed to 9/28 for Nintendo Super Smash Bros Ultimate Edition Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Not the bundle, just the controller. Hmm.. I thought they'd be release around the same time. Though, I don't believe BB release dates anymore....
 
My spider man ps4 pro shipped from amazon today with arrival scheduled for tomorrow... tho I expect it to held by ups till Friday ..

Got my Dragon Quest XI CE today. Not really surprised to see the CE content separate after seeing that it was it's own item on the original order, but still disappointing. I'm sure it just makes production & shipping easier, but I prefer my collector's editions to be a complete package.

Speaking of the CE, does anyone know where to look to get the code for the CE's DLC?

Just got a text from bb that it has been shipped but on the app says pre ordered. But the destiny 2 free game item says it has been shipped. I clicked the info and it says 3 items shipped.. which means my spiderman ce is there
