FAQ:
  • What is this thread? A massive collection of limited edition games & other attributing items, included with links.
  • Why put it all in one thread? More traffic due to collaborating interests.
  • Why is that important? This keeps the thread popular and doesn't risk a failed CE from falling through the cracks unnoticed.
  • What can be discussed here? Anything relevant to what is posted.
  • Why make another CE compilation when 2017 isn't over yet? Karma.
  • Where are the big pictures? Still here, scroll down. Due to the increased number of CEs, a preface post is needed.
  • When is Kingdom Hearts 3 CE? Not announced. Granted, IF it does, you can bet I will devote an entire page to it.
  • What about other CEs that have been announced? Give me a minute. It takes a bit of time to format the title, price, date, & retailer links in correctly.

Kassandra statue looks pretty unimpressive imo, definitely not worth an extra $40. I don't know what kind of crack Ubi was smoking with that one. Also annoying that the gold editions aren't shrink wrapped, as the ones my GS has left are scratched up on the top and bottom, and lots of scuffing on the slip cover.

Picked up the bundle and you’re right, the Kassandra statue is garbage. I should’ve bought the ubistore one for the additional artbook and soundtrack smh.

My copy from BB has scratches all over the slipcover too
Same here. Happy to give Ubisoft Megacorp my money after the reviews but why do they keep destroying their own packaging. Origins was also in bad shape and I can't tell if its worth trying to replace at Best Buy or ask Ubisoft directly.

My BB didn't have any extras so I'm probably stuck with it. I could chance ordering online, but it'd probably just show up dented with my luck

On a side note, Ubisoft let me know that there was a strange login last night on my account from. . .France. Upon logging into my account and seeing nothing wrong, I was sent an email letting me know of a strange login from. . .the US. Furthermore they have a banner saying that they've recently improved their security by notifying people of unusual activity via email. /facepalm

Way to test your notification system before making people believe they have a compromised account, Ubi. I'm confident it was just their own servers in France that tripped the alarm and sent out the email since there's nothing unusual or attempted hijack of my account. Clearly it was a clever ploy to remind me AC was out this week and that I haven't bought a Ubi game in a year now. I see you Ubi. . .

Definitely monitor it, as accounts can absolutely get hacked. Join me now for a brief story time. At one point my Origin account got hacked, but they didn't let me know--or the email went to spam or something. They didn't spend any money, thank God, but they did delete all of my friends, change all contact information that they could possibly change, change my name to 'Loli-Konker', and give me a my little pony avatar. I am still salty about this chain of events to this day. Haha

They didn't spend any money, thank God, but they did delete all of my friends, change all contact information that they could possibly change, change my name to 'Loli-Konker', and give me a my little pony avatar. I am still salty about this chain of events to this day. Haha
Maybe next time use a better password..

eh m8.

and don't re-use the password across multiple websites..

eh m8.

My Netflix account got "hacked" one time for a few days. I used a curse word as a password lol. It went from Israel IP login to I think Chile or Venezuela.. this was 3 years ago maybe.

It was real easy to get my account back in my hands.

With the news that the Switch is getting a Hardware update in 2019, I've canceled my Smash Edition Pre-Order.

I really don't like these mid-cycle console updates.
They're not very nice in that they make consumers feel like their product is outdated or has less value quicker than we would like to feel that way.

They're very nice in that all current consoles (x3 for the Switch) are insanely weak and under-powered. I was happy for the PS4 Pro to be a thing--wish it could do more, though--and I'm thrilled about the possibility of a more powerful switch. And with the way that most of the Switch's games do a good job of dynamically scaling resolution--and not having 30 fps caps in many cases--we could theoretically see games just running/looking better, no 'PS4 Pro'-esque patch required--exciting stuff.

Oh I couldn't give two shits about my Ubi account as it has no value whatsoever, and anything on it was free. And without my email address to change the password, etc they'd be hard pressed to hijack anything. No, this was Ubisoft being bad at notification systems and sending me a false positive when they switched over to their "added security" measures. An account of mine was hijacked all of once in all my years and it was their fault for leaking information, but since I got the password reset emails and saw it going on; I shut them down fast. Wasn't even a game I was actively playing or ever plan to again, but still -- they weren't getting it. ;)

For once this doesn't bother me at all. The Switch is not technically or graphically superior. I don't play it for its graphical horsepower and what I have right now works just fine. I don't think that I will feel compelled to buy a new hardware revision unless it is something really special.

1.getting a PS4 Pro 2.saving for a PS5 or 3.building a gaming PC would probably be at the top of most gamers' priority lists rather than getting a Switch hardware upgrade.

But I want Xenoblade 2 to run better!

I really doubt they would bump up processing for it. It sounded like it'll have updates like a different screen. Hopefully, a better battery life, and a more standard USB-C. The DSi was a mistake, and I don't think they'll make that again. So it'll more likely be the DS to DSLite leap.

I get what you are saying. But, for me, since I don't own a Switch and finally getting pre-ordering in November only to learn that an upgrade is coming in 6-8 months kind of stinks. I was looking forward to it. But I've waited this long, I might as well wait it out. The XBOX and PS4 upgrades I didn't know about when I bought those. No one did. I upgraded to the One X because I got a 4K TV and the PS4Pro didn't play 4K Blu-Rays. I upgraded to the PS4Pro because the Spider Man console came out.

PC Upgrades every other new Intel and/or Nvidia release. :whistle2:

The Switch is overpriced as it is. Making it more powerful would just drive up cost. Lots of people keep their Switch docked only. I think they should just release Switch as a console and make it $180.

Meh, all my friends, including myself, use the Switch more in portable mode than docked. But it's a reasonable price for what you're getting imo.

I wonder how much the price could come down if they made a cheap portable-only variant. No detachable controllers means two fewer batteries, only one rumble motor (if any), no hidden L/R buttons or pairing button, fewer Bluetooth components, smaller, no touch screen, etc. They could also go cheaper on materials and make it more rugged for kids, 2DS-style.

$250 with fat profit, or $180-200 for holiday sales volume.

When Nintendo does a hardware revision, it's usually because they want to manufacture it more cheaply, not make a better console.

I’m torn because I like the idea of the switch. I’ve owned nearly every portable console... NGPC, game boys, PSP, vita, 3ds, and so on. And most consoles too. It’s just that if I had a choice of playing a game like Zelda BotW on a tiny screen or in a home theater on a huge OLED TV with 7.1 surround, why would I play it portable? For me that takes away the immersion of the game.

If I owned a switch I would never undock it. And stick to my 3ds or vita for traveling. Just like watching a DVD or a 4K Blu-ray, why would I watch the lesser version when I can enjoy it in the best way possible?

The only improvements we are likely to see with a new Switch would be better battery life and a better screen (larger with less bezel). Anything else like changing the size would make it incompatible with accessories and Labo.

The real reason for them to do it is to combat hacking and maybe make it so 3rd party docks can't brick them anymore. ;)

It wouldn't make any sense to not have detachable controllers. That would limit multi-player and make games like Super Mario Party unplayable.

I've never played a single game docked at this point. Only my kids have. I've thought about it since it appears Xenoblade and a few others get a substantial downgrade in undocked but the switch has all but buried my Vita and 3DS at this point.

huh funny to see so many people also only play their switch in handheld mode.

Im the same way. I originally played zelda at launch docked, but have kept it portable ever since. Seems its very much the common thing to do.

Yup exactly the same with me, played BOTW and Xenoblade 2 for a little bit docked, rest were all handheld only. Especially games like Octopath Traveler

Heh I'm the opposite, along with most my friends I know with a switch.  Most of our actual play time on them is when they are docked, even though we do bring them with us when we go out.  The only time I really play undocked is if I play picross.

I have a multi monitor set up with a hdmi matrix.  So I just move it to one of my side screens when I'm multitasking at home. I love that the option is there though, since I can bring it with me everywhere.

A minority of games run at those specs.
I said it as tongue in cheek, but... your comment made me actually investigate.

Looking at a compiled list, there's 7 games running at 720p 30 fps docked, and 19 running at 1080p 60 fps. If you take out the ones that are conditional (e.g. only in single player, cut scenes, whatever) or 2D sprite-esque games, you're left with 10.

I think anyone should play how they want to but I'd always assumed that the entire appeal of the Switch (outside of a few exclusives) was the option to be both portable OR docked? If you only want one or the other you could easily pick up a dedicated console at half the price a switch is now. And personally there's no way I'd buy a dock only Switch over a PS4.

When one of my current systems let's me play new Nintendo games let me know.

There's a long history of cost-down variants with fewer features.

PSP Go - no UMD
2DS - no 3D, nigh indestructible
PS3 - dropped PS2 compat
Wii - dropped Gamecube compat
Xbox 360 - dropped optical out

A cost-down "Switch Micro" could coexist with the base Switch. If you have the money and care about all the features, you buy that one. But if your kid won't much miss those features, buy her the cheaper one. Maybe your other kid will eventually want one, too.
