Older CE's are in the 2nd post!

FAQ's:

  • Amazon & Gamestop do not have a pre-authorization charge.
  • Bethesda Store and any of the Treehouse Brand Stores do not have a pre-authorization charge either.
  • Best Buy, NISA Store, Square-Enix Store all have a pre-authorization that goes away after 3-4 days or so, 7-10 days max.
  • All pre-orders with Paypal, you pay the full amount when the order is placed NOT when it is shipped.  This goes for every retailer that takes Paypal as a form of payment
  • Be cautious when going for free shipping from any Exclusive Store since they all use Digital River.  Say you order 2 CE's from S/E Store and they have different release dates, DR will wait till the last item comes out to ship yours.  Meaning (since Digital River sucks donkey balls), they could end up selling your pre-order on the first item to release and you could be SOL.  Also be careful ordering something to get your free shipping threshold as well because if the item goes OOS, then you have to wait for it to come back in stock.  This happened to many CAGs ordering the Lightning Returns CE from the S/E store because they ordered key chains that went OOS.
  • ^TL;DR Version:  If something goes out of stock or is not out yet, it will delay your order.

I'm not going to respond to individual posts, but boycotting Digital River will do fuck all. They have some price/service ratio setup with these publishers that seems to be working for them. They may not sell that many items through their stores--perhaps partially because of DR, and certainly because of the exorbitant shipping prices--but you can be damn sure that any exclusives will still sell through their limited stock.

I'm sure that a lot of people don't order anything but exclusives from publisher's stores because of DR, and yet they still find it worthwhile to use them. A small portion of people not ordering exclusive items from them will not sway them because others will order them--for flipping, if nothing else. That will just result in the publishers still using DR, and the people that put their little boycott on not having exclusive items--or paying much more for them second hand. It takes so many participants for a boycott to actually do anything. While it seems cynical to accept that it won't do anything, it's most certainly naive to think that it will. There are just not enough people willing to say absolutely 100% no. And these store exclusive LEs certainly chip away at the people who otherwise wouldn't order from them--like myself.

The best we can hope for is DR either getting better, or going out of business for being sued or something like that... lol

I hate to break it to you all, but gaming is only a part of digital river.  Their main business is working with major companies like Microsoft, Adobe, and Lenovo.  DR has no reason to change as long as they keep making money.

Wow!

There are some going for $300 and over on ebay. If someone bought that with GCU they will pay what, 215 with tax? At worst they break even after fees and still gain reward points. There are a lot of layers to this stuff I'm learning.

For sure man. Any profit at all reduces your own costs for the games you decide to keep. For instance, I have a couple copies of tales of symphonia I will unload which will basically pay for my own copy I decide to keep.

Yeah, I'm really seeing how you can just churn games and gain company rewards, membership rewards, credit card rewards, and pretty quickly you are talking about 30% of the purchase price being pure profit.

On topic for the thread though, my damn LR CE still hasn't moved. Anybody had an update beyond Fisher's Indiana for a newgistics package?

According to my tracking on both newgistics and usps my package has departed shipping partner facility and is currently in transit. It still says its in Fishers, IN though.

Yeah mine says the same thing. Did you ever get a cancellation notice for your tonberry order? I never did receive one but I never got a shipment notice for that order either.

I processed cancellation through the Square Enix Store a few days ago and nothing has changed except that the button is now gone. I just shot off an email to Digital River making another request to cancel my order. That's the last time I use PayPal on a web store that uses Digital River. I hate having $105 sitting on this transaction.

I've cancelled both types of transactions where I paid with a credit card and when I paid with PayPal. If they properly cancelled your order you should get a email stating that the order has been cancelled. Otherwise I think our orders are still active or in our case, "on backorder"

At least Nisa isnt using DR..... yet.
NISA is hands-down the best company to deal with when it comes to CEs. They package them extremely well, always keep you updated on any shipping delays, and if you ever need help you can call them during regular business hours and talk to someone who can actually help you.

Meanwhile I've got 3 different drones at Digital River telling me 3 different things -- That they will be sending me a link this week so I can update my card info. That I will have the opportunity to update the info after the game is released and they attempt to bill my old card and it fails. And that I should just cancel and re-order (conveniently forgetting that Symphonia CE is completely sold out).

Part of me is wondering if they're pulling a stunt similar to what Rockstar did with the Max Payne 3 CE. Turn off the pre-orders at a set time, then produce only enough to cover pre-orders plus some small percentage to cover defects.

Play Asia basically just buys from the SE Store like any other consumer. It's no different than when that Canadian reseller bought tons of Ni No Kuni from Namco/DR.
Well, unless they have a way around the limit of 2 per order, they're not going to be able to sell a lot of them.

Been out of town since Friday. Why are people still complaining about DR? Is it because they won't get their LR FF XIII CE's early? Or is because they're accounts are getting flags for creating and cancelling multiple orders in a short period of time?

As long as the orders are getting fulfilled and they did a halfway decent job shipping them I don't see why their is so much noise.

I mean if you placed an order with a CC that has expired or that you cancelled and didn't have the foresight to contact them at the time your card was no longer valid that is kind of on you

Just to confirm for everyone, DR does prioritize new orders over pre-orders. I placed an order on 2/5 for the LR-CE and got a shipping confirmation w/ tracking on 2/6.

Anyone heard anything about the extra 3000 copies of tales? I hope they aren't to fulfill existing preorders
I am wondering if they are going to pull another Ni No Kuni (not the part where they cancelled orders, hopefully) and offer these up for sale via the Namco store (digital river). I did see the product page for the CE listing at the Namco store mentions checking their Facebook pages for availability, which I believe is where the "extra" copies of the Ni No Kuni Wizard's edition were announced prior to being made available for order again via Namco's site. I'm not sure how long the " Please visit the Namco Bandai and Tales Series Facebook pages for more information on availability" message has been on the listing....

Mine has also been at that same location since it "shipped" last Friday :(
They must not have had a big enough shipment to send them off with newgistics. Since they are a consolidator you have to pay fees if you don't have enough weight per pickup and since none of these packages weigh much they probably have to wait a while.

They probably used parcel post. =(
I did buy 2 LR:FFXIII CEs and got free shipping with that. So I did presume it would take awhile.

On another note, I received my Bravely default CE last week from BestBuy. Horribly packaged, but surprisingly came out of the box without much damage compared to the ones on Amazon. Wish you guys luck with whoever ordered from there!

I ordered my LR along with Drakengard CE last week.... didn't realize until the confirmation page neither will ship until May. So far, no word on my cancellation request. I was going to try placing separate orders.

Hope mine arrives tomorrow, estimated said the 11th or 12th, but neither side has updated since it arrived at Fisher's IN. (Seems weird it'd take so long since its barely 30 minutes away...)

Did anyone else order the danganronpa: trigger happy havoc collector's edition? I'm hoping I get mine tomorrow! I didn't order 1 or 2 day shipping or anything, but it shipped on Friday and it said "2 day priority mail", so maybe if I'm lucky I'll get it tomorrow.

My CEs arrived at the post a little earlier so definitely getting them tomorrow. Just need to grab the steelbook from Target and call it a day :)
