That's pretty cool looking.. I'm assuming it's plastic though, right? Would be nice if the face was metal, at least.

I wish I actually got this but outside of the KH2.5HD Edition, every single one of my SE store purchases have been a waste of money since they end up being super cheap. I really didn't think this would be worth squat.
It's a metal body with a silicone band, it is mentioned on the comments below, nice!

WRT the watch:

"good people die ‏@masoquequem

@Aksys_Danny is there any chance to get still get the watch? :c

PItBNHb2_bigger.png
DANhalen ‏@Aksys_Danny
@masoquequem Via preorder no. But I will say that the future looks bright for those who missed out. :D"

That sounds interesting.

FF Explorers CE is not going for $200 on ebay. Just because someone listed it at $200 doesn't mean that's what's it going for, sold auctions are around $110, and with ebay fees and shipping the re-seller is hardly making a decent profit.

The FF Explorers CE was up for a long time and was pretty easy to get if you really wanted one at the beginning.
people around here just like to blame flippers for their own shortcomings.

people around here just like to blame flippers for their own shortcomings.
All of us who missed it know damn well we were praying Amazon or Gamestop would get it.

Regardless I just went with the standard. I have too many 3DS/Vita cases I never even use, and apparently the DLC weapons are pretty shitty and are mostly just for glamour (They get outclassed by mid game I heard)

So what? Flippers exist among every collectibles hobby ever and will continue to do so until the end of time. The end. Get over it.

When I hear someone whining about flippers I immediately know they're an idiot.
In some hobbies flipping is accepted and almost encouraged, not looked down upon like in gaming. Art, knives, guns, etc...

Anyone think Overwatch CE will be hard to get at a cheaper price?

I can't decide if I want to keep it, or hold off.

Little bit different when a Colt Python goes up in value because it hasn't been made in years and you happen to have one.

On the other hand with gaming, it would be like if gen 4 Glock 17s were out of stock the day they came out and all of them were on Gunbroker for $3000 with resellers posting pictures of the 20 they preordered in a little pyramid pile. Yeah that just doesn't happen.

Though gun shows can be just as bad. I stopped going to gun shows after seeing some of the douchebaggery going on there after Dec '12. You'd have sellers there who just picked up a 500 rd box of .22 for $20 who would then divvy them out 10 rounds to a sandwich baggy for $50 ROFL or wanting $1000 for a falling apart WASR.

Flippers have always existed but the amount of flipper only interest in games has skyrocketed immensely since about 2005-2007 about the same time retro gaming and collecting became mainstream. Now it's NEW GAMES. Seems every reseller x 9999 is F5ing every CE speculatively looking for the next future Stadium Events.

It took 30 years for NES games to become rare and collectable but you have Wii U games (eg: Devil's Third) that are already "OMG RARE HOLY GRAIL COLLECTORS LOOK OUT OF PRINT FOREVER ZOMG PANIC #($*@(#*$@(#*$@P(#$@#$!!!!!!!!!" not even 5 seconds hot off the press.

We have a problem when games that aren't even out yet or that came out yesterday for current generation systems are on ebay as "holy grails" now. Which then causes a avalanche of more resellers wanting to jump on the bandwagon to the point that now a game doesn't even have to be rare or limited, it's just that preorders sold out in 3 seconds because reseller speculation. eg: people bragging they ordered 10 but will cancel if it's still in stock after 24 hours.

They aren't even reselling rare games anymore, they are reselling PREORDERS.

Somehow post 2005 or so, "holy grail" and "rare and collectible" suddenly jumped from stuff made in 1980 to stuff made in 2016 already 5 minutes before I posted this.

Then you have the other side of the coin that fuels resllers: every single gamer today, hooked on youtube where everybody seems to have a giant 10 story high collection wall of games behind them, is a so called "collector" now. People who missed the boat yesterday and know they will never have a complete NES library by now are and trying to not miss the boat today and tomorrow by hoarding every 3DS, Wii U, PS4 game that comes out. And this is the only reason you have situations like Devil's Third being labeled "holy grail" before the game has even hit retail. I know for fact this is the reason I'm picking up every low volume $19 obscure indy e-store release game that I never heard of before that gets a physical release on Wii U. Let one slip under the radar and there goes your hopes of ever having a complete retail library of a console that isn't even EOL yet.

----

It's a combination of rapid growth of resellers and rapid growth in new "collectors" and a new age "collector awareness" perpetrated by Youtube and ebay among others feeding off each other in a vicious positive gain feedback loop. Nothing slips by anyone anymore. Everybody is just too connected up to the second real time. Whether or not a game becomes rare or valuable is no longer determined by how many were kept mint in box in the attic for 30 years. What games are rare or valuable is now determined before it even goes up for preorder.

Blink and you're screwed, forever jipped out of a perfect collection before what constitutes a complete collection is even defined.

Personally I blame youtube more than ebay. Too many people posting too many videos with their infinite wall of games behind them driving a collector fad and causing a chain reaction of newbie collectors hitting F5 all night. And creating too much noise and attracting too many wolves and vultures with them.

I'm seeing some of my Amazon orders adjusted, every single standard edition but not a single CE.

Checked on their new 20% thing and:

Terms & Conditions

1.       Offer only applies to products shipped and sold by Amazon.com

2.       The 20% discount applies to an item’s List Price and does not apply to an item’s already discounted price.

3.       Offer only applies to products in pre-order or within two weeks after release date as listed on the product detail page.

4.       Offer does not apply to digital content.

5.       Offer does not apply to product bundles including but not limited to console game bundles.

Guessing collector editions sneak their way out of the 20% deal by being considered a bundle?

Has anyone had a CE get 20% off @ Amazon?

Then again FAQ:

7.Are Collector’s Editions included?

Yes, Collector’s Editions are included during pre-order through two weeks after launch.

So maybe it's just taking it's sweet time updating.

My Uncharted CE dropped by 20% within the last couple of days so yes CEs are included.

Didn't they have another opportunity to order after VLR came out too? Think it was for the Yellow watches.
Yeah, there was the original red, green and blue and then a yellow one which was standalone. I wonder if they made any more models? I think at some point, people thought there'd be one for each watch corresponding to the game.

None of my other orders dropped, besides ZE3.

Squeenix doesn't charge until its closer to shipment (albeit still before it ships, but they didn't charge until it had already been sold out for a while) so I don't know why you wouldn't have just placed a safety order like what is generally done with Amazon.

Wait, are you talking about Final Fantasy Explorers CE? This thing is supposed to be Square Enix store exclusive. So yea if you wanted it, shouldn't have waited to see if Gamestop or Amazon would have it. I know occasionally SE store exclusives also show up on Gamestop and Amazon but usually that's only because it's not selling well.

Weird that you say that, I got Uncharted CE, One Piece CE, MN9 CE and they all adjusted this week, so I can confirm, and other in anothe thread that they are part of this discount. It even says it on the discount page.

Other than a few stragglers, like Horizon Zero Dawn and KH3, all of mine have dropped now, including CEs.

Bummed I missed out on the Bravely Second collectors edition via Amazon. Somebody posted that they couldn't find their order in their Amazon history so if you got it through Amazon, make sure it is still thete

Guess I better email them... only my ZE3 dropped, everything else is full price. Uncharted 3, Odin Sphere HD, Mega Man Coll, are all at what I pre-ordered them at.

I went through and added a lot of games to my list on amazon, some CEs, and everything I purchased preorder wise had the 20%, so if you don't have it, you are suppose to.

Good grief, 3 weeks and 500+ posts after the thread started I'm finally caught up.  I just yesterday realized that the old thread was locked in favor of a new one. :)

I can understand not wanting to pay a premium for a physical copy when its a so cheap for a digital crossbuy if you're only interested in the experience, but for a lot of people collecting is on par with actually playing.

That extra $20 is worth more on a tangible product to me than an extra $10 is to sync trophies whenever I get the urge, but theres obviously a huge trophy market too. Theres always going to be people providing unnecessary things to make money off of us.

Any chance Fire Emblem preorders will open up again?
Only from possible canceled orders due to billing issues around release day. Doubt these will be restocked and there probably won't be more than just a handful of people that'll cancel on their own just cause they don't want it anymore.

Do NIS CE's ever get added to Amazon or GS if they don't sell? $55 after shipping for Republique is too much.
Never.

Edit - Well it looks like they put Stranger in Sword City up on GS so maybe there is a chance :) They never did that before. The only editions that end up in stores are their launch versions.

Put on your tinfoil hats... cause here we go.

This may have already been discussed, but I've never seen it.

We all remember how lame the whole Fallout 4 Pip Boy situation was. Well, I was digging around and stumbled upon a receipt from Bethstore. On the top, it said "ThinkGeek". I thought to myself, wtf, ThinkGeek, isn't that Gamestop?

Here is a screen capture from the bottom of store.bethsoft.com:

[attachment=19772:thinkgeek bethsoft.JPG]

So, ThinkGeek runs Bethesda's merchandising.... ok.

Well, here we go:

[attachment=19773:thinkgeek gamestop.JPG]

... wtf. The over hyped bull crap and ludicrous amounts of merchandising was all manufactured by non other than the shadiest video game retailer on earth, GameStop.

Oh puh-leese. Do your research better next time. Fallout 4 came out less than 4 months after Gamestop acquired them. It's not a conspiracy. The damn thing was in the pipelines before they were part of Gamestop, and announced a month before they were part of Gamestop.

Kinda torn on this, want the figure but I also have a feeling they probably made tons of these like the Scorpion Coarse figure. Which means I might be able to get it in 6 months for half the price or less. And since I'm so backlogged, didn't have to get SF V at launch.

Regardless, looks like Bethesda made the right business decisions to produce what they produced for fallout 4. We can debate about the qty of Pipboys but in the end it still sold out for them. There were no mass returns or cancellations and whatever did get returned or cancelled by people sold out in a day or two when retailers pUT them back up for sale. So much for waiting it to go on clearance in 6 months as someone on here confidently stated lol. Also other Fallout 4 merchandise sold well also, Bethesda knows what they're doing, they produced just enough to create enough hype and made maximum profit without overproducing and letting their items sit in store shelves to collect dust. I always thought there were alot more Pipboy Editions produced compared to most CEs, the lack of availability by early December pretty much tells you how many die hard Fallout fans there are.
