The one thing that makes me go do a pre-order......

It's a trade-off of a steelbook for the physical release versus a free copy of the W10 PC version when pre-ordering the digital X1 version.

EDIT: Looks like you can get both the SB and the free W10 PC digital copy with a pre-order, so I think that's a done deal then:

If you follow the asterisk* on that steelbook note it just lists different countries. I'm guessing this will be a GS exclusive, so I'll preorder just to be safe. I would love to see if go up at Best Buy or Amazon though.

Well, flash storage is still way too expensive and small. They don't do 3-TB SSDs, and the cheapest 2-TB SSD listed on Newegg is $500. By comparison, I got my 3-TB HDD for about $90 on there. So, that's why I still use magnetics, as a supplement to a small (120-GB) SSD I got on an Amazon price glitch a couple of years back ($25).

I feel like NA has very rarely had SB promo's available at multiple retailers, which is kinda odd. This would be my first X1 SB as I focused my collecting on PS4 but the free W10 copy and general appeal of the game is forcing my preorder hand...

Gamestop's listing says the steelbook is Gamestop exclusive. "Pre-Order Quantum Break and receive a Gamestop Exclusive Premium Steelbook Case!"

I can only imagine there's some marketing and business case behind those decisions but most NA collector's edition just seem horrible. The fact that they are some of the most consistent CAG deals seems to indicate I'm not the only one who thinks that.

I've pretty much decided that unless it has a steelbook or is a series I really really enjoy, I'm not preordering any CE any longer, since it seems like it's just a waste for the most part.

You're right, most EU or Asia CEs pretty much seem to blow away anything offered in the comparable NA CE. DS3 CE seems to be a big glaring example of this when there is a CE, or the lack of a CE in the case Naruto UNS 4.

Yep I got to that same point about 6 months ago. I'm even starting to skip some steelbook stuff, just too much crap accumulating.

 
Once my SFV gets here, I will be returning it.  Looks like overpriced garbage.  I will wait for the Super Hyper Turbo Championship Alpha Edition X Tekken to release.

Starting to feel the same way about too much crap, and didn't really need another statue so I cancelled my Street Fighter 5 CE as well. Was looking forward to the game, but will wait and pick up a normal copy for cheaper in a month or two when it's not as barebones.

 
I'd pass on SFV as well if it werent for the fact I know so many people getting it. Also I want to snag a good username before everything gets taken

 
yeah, the SFV CE doesn't look too hot from that unboxing. I got it at a discount though so Im just going to keep it, if not i would have stuck to the regular edition.

 
Statue looks decent IMO, and since he's my main I'm okay with it. Got it with the amazon glitch and promotion credit so I paid about $50 (which was amazon credit from GS). I'm disappointed about the lack of DLC tho. Ah well.

Wished we got the steelbook, but I'll try to eBay one of those.

Canceled my SFV CE as well.  I have a feeling this will be one of those mass-produced CEs you could get for half price in the future.  And if not...oh well, not a big loss.

Put a price watch on it for Amazon via CamelCamelCamel.com and give it a $50 price to watch for.

I think this one will be as you think, mass-produced and discounted to get it off store shelves like others ones like it.

 
My Grand Kingdom LE on amazon just got 40% off. Those who ordered with at full price should check it out.

Does anyone know if I paid with a CC but then change it to gift card, would that negate the extra 20% off?

Given I'm the biggest defender of the 25th Anniversary SF CE on this site, the SF V CE is shit. Also with the stuff I'm hearing about the game at launch, glad I'm not even getting vanilla.

It would definitely help considering it's one of the few Tales games that's a direct sequel, usually they're all seperate worlds.

But I haven't started 2 yet so someone else needs to chime in.
 
I'm going to have to return my SFV. I went to cancel and it had shipped earlier than CEs usually do. We'll see if I end up buying the same one back when the price drops. :cool:

You don't have to play 2 but I'd recommend it.  The world of 2 occurs as a direct result of events in 1.  Worst case it's a spoiler of 1.

 
For the free Win10 version of Quantum Break, is everyone just assuming it will be linked to your Microsoft Account? While I don't think they had a similar promo before, I think this will be something Microsoft continues in the future. Most/if not all Xbox exclusives will be releasing on PC. IMO this could hurt Xbox sales. Exclusives should be something that helps sell consoles. This just seems like Microsoft isn't trying at all anymore and they aren't even going to try to compete with Sony.


The CE front has been super slow lately. With all the leftover FarCry4 CE discounts, I'm not surprised Primal didn't receive one, but man a statue or Steelbook from that game could be sweet. I do have a preorder for The Division CE, but I'm probably going to just cancel or sell it off. Just not interested in it anymore. As someone that really enjoys single player over multiplayer, I wanted to play a decent story by myself.

I'm done rambling for now....

Exclusives aren't pushing console sales like they use to so I think its a smart move on their part. But if you're someone who has a pc and X1 only for exclusives it makes the X1 obsolete.

the deluxe version of far cry primal comes with a steelbook and a few other things and it's only $10 more (only $8 more if you have GCU or Prime).

I have no problem with the way they did things last gen. I bought all the Street Fighters when they got cheap enough. Other games like Madden do annual releases. But then there's Capcom again, trying to nickle and dime you with alt costumes, avatars, etc.

This new version seems like a huge step in the wrong direction. If people actually bought into the idea that Capcom is trying to save us money with this release then that's just sad. They could have made additional characters unlockable only, secret unlock, or just plain free.
