So, I forgot to change my BB order for the BS CE to in-store pickup when I got the double 20% off on amazon. Now it's preparing to ship, and I'm not sure what to do with it besides return it. Any suggestions?
Other than selling it, not sure. But keep the download code for the outfit!

I assume it's there so the GCU can't be used?
No. I called bestbuy and a nice lady was trying to find a way to do it for me a while back but ultimately her answer was no you can't.

Maybe buy it, take to a store, return it and buy it from the store?

Seems like quite the hassle. I'd rather hold out for Amazon or BB getting more since GS and BNamco store still have it

I haven't seen this first hand because I've never ordered from eBay/Best Buy, but people in the past have seen a string of letters and numbers that looks like a Best Buy order number (starting with BBY01-) that can be used for the return/rebuy process.

But since I'm not a reliable source, you didn't hear that from me.

Was there some sort of Dark Souls III PS4 console announced?

I'm trying to sell my CE locally and I've had 2 people sound surprised when I said it doesn't come with a PS4. Who sells a brand new game with a PS4 console for $140?

Did you list it online and word it wrong?

Maybe they don't know the game is worth that much and assumed you were selling a used system for 140?

They be stupid?

People are generally stupid. I had idiots ask me if I was selling the MGS console when I was selling the CE for $100. Even though I clearly described the CE.

Some people are as dumb as fuck.

I get lots of idiots and lots of people trying to tug at my heart strings saying why they can only pay up to $xxx under my minimum. Screw that noise. :D

I just had another person ask the same thing. I am reminded of George Carlin now.

"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

My DS3 CE came in from Best Buy tonight.   The front upper left corner got crushed similar to what one person posted earlier.   Called Best Buy and they were able to ship a replacement out that will be here on the 14th.  That's pretty good customer service!

Really wish these publishers would stop packaging their CEs in these flimsy paper boxes that have no structural support.   I am not confident at all the next one will arrive in any better shape than the last one.  All the damage was caused by the CE simply bumping up against the inside flaps of the outer shipping box.

DS3%20CE1_zpsoagsihr3.jpg

Not the biggest deal in the world but when people buy expensive collector's editions, they don't want them to arrive dented and smashed.  I usually hate that guy that posts about dented boxes, and I'm that guy today.

It was shipped to me in a box exactly the size of the CE from BB. I wouldn't hold your breath on a good replacement.

It's not going to happen. It means shelling out more money, and these CE's are all about maximizing profits and exploiting collector OCD. There are some really nice CE's out there, but so many of them probably cost so little to make. Throw in the cheapest crap, and toss it in a box, and call it a collector's edition, and people will be all over it.

I hope they'd be more secure too, and I wish the retailers would pack them with more packing material and with care, but realistically... ain't gonna happen. You really only see that with smaller companies that have niche games with highly limited releases, so they don't get a giant shit storm of complaints that makes them look really bad.

I just got an email from Amazon that my order of FFXV DE has been upgraded for free to release date delivery.  I thought it was already eligible for that. :)

My DS3 CE had the top of the box torn thanks to whatever monkey at Amazon grabbed it too quickly I'm sure. Statue is nice, art book is still disappointingly small, and the steelbook has such amazing art but they opted for no inner artwork which is too bad. They also only put one button fastener inside so there's no place to put the soundtrack in it. :bomb:

Overall, it wasn't worth the price but if this is to be the last Souls game, I wanted something to remember it by.

I was all excited to come here and post pictures of my Dark Souls III Estus Flask edition collector's guide. Turns out it was a huge disappointment. If you're thinking about ordering this edition, seriously, DON'T. I knew it was overpriced from the start but was happy to get what I thought would be a finely crafted vase representation of the estus flask. It is junk. The bookmark is cool, but that's not enough. The box is just a box. But all in all this collector's edition was very poor value. I will be returning it and eating the shipping cost, and buying the regular collectors guide. As you can see from the pictures, the flask isn't ceramic, displayable, or even hollow. It is a tiny plastic piece of shit.

Buy the regular collector's edition guide for $23.99 and not the estus flask edition for $77.99. If you're getting it in this mail today I would honestly just slap a return label on the box without even opening it. I haven't been this disappointed in a CE in awhile. Hopefully this helps someone out.

The flask reminds me of the humorously terrible scratched-plastic batarang that came in the Batman: Arkham Asylum CE

God that's pretty. I wish Amazon Japan was selling it since this is pretty steep (esp with their shipping)...

EDIT: What is Play-Asia's pre-order cancellation policy?

"Once bought, this item cannot be cancelled or returned."

Just saw that on the page. Weeeelp. I'll have to ponder and hope it goes out of stock in the interim.
I just refreshed this morning, and it's out of stock. I'll probably just check Ebay later. I cant tell online if it's particularly "limited"

Same thing happened when I listed my Assassin's Creed 3 CE on CL....Some people...

You'll be able to do that. People who were able to Fire Emblem Fates SE through eBay were able to return it for use GCU.

I've heard on podcasts from large websites like Game Informer and IGN- Corporations dont actually make much money on CE's. They're used mostly for marketing purposes- more stories and exposure about the game online. Think of the R&D, logistics, and man-hours to produce 10K copies of a CE for a game wherein the "standard edition" will sell say 3 million copies.

That makes sense. That's why I defended the Claptrap in a box. People don't know how much money it takes to hire someone to develop it, and usually greatly underestimate the cost to make one themselves, even without putting in the hours for development.

There is absolutely no way that's accurate. Maybe if you're talking about some very limited run 500 or 1000 piece CE like Dead Space or something along those lines where the publisher really is just doing it for fan service, but many CEs are mass produced today and the profit margins are massive. The only CEs that typically fall under 10K copies seem to be niche Japanese titles that get localized and even then, they often just recycle the same items that were included in the Japanese CE or do something simple like an art book, soundtrack and some other small item. You can bet that if CEs weren't profitable that you wouldn't see almost every AAA release today having it's own CE regardless of whether it's a well established IP or not.

The Darksign Journal is great, a quality little notebook with the iconic bonfire stationary on every page. The guide so far has been lacking in terms of walkthrough and visually appealing. I'm sad Prima got this one. :(

^ just read reviews on Amazon. Looks like the actual guide sucks. Happy I passed on it but I want that dark sign journal. Keep records of each new character and build

I think ymmv with the Best Buy OMS. I was able to place an order, but my GCU discount wouldn't apply to it. I just said forget it and I ordered the day 1 edition.

Well, after 7 months of waiting for my preorder (which was only supposed to be 6-7 weeks according to Gajin Works), my PSP physical copy of Summon Night 5 and Soundtrack came today. It came in a nice little Summon Night 5 box but of course after 7 months, they couldn't even double box the damn thing.[attachment=21414:image.jpg][attachment=21415:image.jpg]

I just did as well and there's quite a bit I didn't notice that other readers have, such as the completely missing chapters 1, 2, & 10. They rushed this one out the door and I hope it bites them in the ass hard. Prima has always made shitty guides but this one takes the cake. Give me Brady, Piggyback, or Future Press any day.

Trying to read the maps is just insanity. They are so confusing and not laid out well at all. Either way I just brought the thing mostly because I have the CE Guides for the 1st and 2nd as well. Would feel weird to not buy the 3rd's too.

Also really like the Item/Spell/Equipment compendium at the end.

I just placed OMS also, my GCU didn't apply at first, but then they tried again and it applied fine.

Did they sent out an email with tracking for this? I dont think i have gotten anything from them since like December when they sent out the Digital Code for the game

That sucks about the outer box being the shipping box. Looks like it could have been a nice display box. :|

Did you get any shipping notification from them or anything or did it just show up? I haven't heard anything from them on shipping so I'm wondering if I should contact them or just wait a few days and see if mine shows up.

Yeah, I'm actually lost as to where the fuck I am in the game compared to the maps and their descriptions given, so I just gave up and started exploring. Apparently there's no index to reference where each of those item/spell/equipment are located in the guide; real nice. I'm going to have to venture a guess and say something went very wrong in production of this guide to be missing such huge sections and hopefully there's a replacement coming soon. This will be the last Prima guide I'll ever buy if not.

Did they sent out an email with tracking for this? I dont think i have gotten anything from them since like December when they sent out the Digital Code for the game
I had Amazon send them a email 3 times regarding my order, the last one being like 3 days ago. I didn't receive a tracking email or shipping email. It just showed up today without any type of notice.

Looks like Vic posted on the GaijinWorks forums.  Summon Night's physical editions are all being sent out this week.  Looks like nobody has gotten shipping notices or tracking numbers yet though (despite deliveries starting to happen).

Also, from Vic:  "The "pretty box" is the actual shipping box. The label isn't really hard at all to get off with care and a hair dryer to heat the label goo slightly, but the box was really just meant to be a cool unannounced "experience" boost to put a cherry on top of getting the LE."

That's good to know. I was able to get the shipping label off despite leaving slight dents in the box from my fingernail.[attachment=21416:image.jpg][attachment=21417:image.jpg]

I think all the chapters are there, it's just that 1,2 & 10 are only 1 page each and not labelled very well. But yeah, it's a terrible guide. I don't understand why From Software didn't use Future Press on this one.
