Well then nuke the last 50 posts. To be honest, this is more entertaining and informative then the "when will it ship?" "mine shipped" "did yours ship?" "mine came with a crease" "mine hasn't arrived yet" "mine still hasn't shipped" "when will they learn to properly pack collector's editions?" "I'm underwhelmed" "glad I didn't buy it" posts that junk up this thread in between release announcments
You forgot my personal favorites: "should I cancel my pre-order?" and "will this be rare?"

Like my head hurts. You now do FBA but you haven't done it in months?
FBA (Fulfilled By Amazon) and FBM (Fulfilled By Merchant) are two different fulfillment channels.

Really didn't mean to clutter this thread. Guess I mixed up some things trying to explain myself. I'm wrong. Let's move on and go back to "my game has shipped" talk.

90 = 13% for ebay fees/paypal - $8 shipping = 70.30 most likely bought it for 69+tax+shipping = ~ 79

The seller is losing $10. WHY would you ebay this crap for that amount.
You are forgetting most resellers most likely get them from Best Buy or Amazon, which is offering 20% off. They preordered multiple out of speculation. If you can sell for $90 and come out with $70.30, that is still just under $10 profit depending on state sales tax. While not amazing, imagine if these turned out like the Fire Emblem Fates SE, which is reasonable given the now rarity of the BD CE.

Although it is only $10 profit, it adds up if you sell multiple and the only hard work you have to do is take a picture or two and print out a shipping label and tape it to a box.

Bravely Second CE is available at Target.

Can't post a link because I have under 3 posts.

Edit:  NM,  it's out again.  I was expecting to last a little longer than that.

Come on guys, these questions are ridiculous.  Will this game be rare?

The real buring question is:

When will be the next B2G1 free used games at gamestop?

Can we stop with the fucking shipping costs and ebay fees for (insert fictional deity of your choice here)! No one gives a shit! I cant even begin to imagine the life someone has to have in order to have an argument and in depth discussion over who pays what to ship a package on ebay.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is very interested in my eBay shipping fees, so I will continue to discuss them in hopes that he will bless me with his noodly appendage

If you don't get the code within a day, I just usually complain on the forum and a code will be generated for me. Sometimes I get codes, sometimes I don't (like the demo early access).

Before we move on, I will need that avatar back. You may be damaging my online reputation, which is pretty difficult to do.

Hmmm interesting, I got shipping confirmation for Bravely Second CE from Walmart even though the credit card I used to place the order was compromised a few weeks ago and no longer work. That's actually why I didn't even bother to cancel the order figuring they would cancel it automatically when my card declines. Just checked my account too and there was no charge from Walmart.

There is absolutely no way that's accurate. Maybe if you're talking about some very limited run 500 or 1000 piece CE like Dead Space or something along those lines where the publisher really is just doing it for fan service, but many CEs are mass produced today and the profit margins are massive. The only CEs that typically fall under 10K copies seem to be niche Japanese titles that get localized and even then, they often just recycle the same items that were included in the Japanese CE or do something simple like an art book, soundtrack and some other small item. You can bet that if CEs weren't profitable that you wouldn't see almost every AAA release today having it's own CE regardless of whether it's a well established IP or not.
Think about a game that costs 150 million to make. You dont think it makes sense to make a CE that sells at a margin of $1 (I've heard two different people on the Game Informer Podcast that have spoken to executives, one being EA, that have said this privately), to get a big marketing bump when you strategically "reveal" the collector's edition and it's contents. The economy of scale isnt high enough for a CE to have a massive profit margin. I dont think they're losing money, but making only a few dollars per CE makes sense to me.

who really still buy guides... i understand it if it was the pre-internet days.... i remember going to my local blockbuster and just hanging out there reading through ffvii guide. those were good times...

i'm also puzzle how they are still in business, i'm sure 90% of their original target market have moved on to free online guides.
I think It's a collecting thing for some people. For me, It's only for Metal Gear Solid, From Software games, then I have several misc. ones I bought for dirt cheap. I havent even opened most of the MGS ones- I just love the series and want everything.

Yea, you can easily find any info you need online quickly and for free

This.

Before I became a bit older and had more disposable income, I'd buy them for collecting purposes for franchises I liked but rarely did more than flip through them upon receipt. Now, I just buy them occasionally (big MGS fan like you) and when I can get one for $5-10.

Also, to counter his original argument, most of the guide companies offer digital copies as an incentive for buying physical, or separately. So that probably plays a part in why they're still viable in current times. I'm sure they make nowhere near the amount of money they did 15-20 years ago though.

Wait I keep reading about this pre-order code... I certainly didn't get an email with one from BB. Did the CE not get it and it was just the vanilla version?

Again, no way that's correct. If that was the case, you wouldn't have Ubisoft and Square and all of the other major companies doing CEs of just about every major title. I will agree that EA has largely slowed down on CEs in the past year or so (although they have a Mirror's Edge CE coming shortly) and perhaps they struggled with their margins on certain CEs, but what I have heard from reputable sources is that the margin on a CE is significantly higher than a vanilla release game. There is also the added benefit of getting people who ordinarily wouldn't buy a game day one to buy the game at MSRP simply because they want the CE and worry it will sell out. You also have to remember that some of these CEs have print runs of 100K or more units depending on the game and that is a massive economy of scale.

I was pretty peeved that Amazon didn't ship out my game yesterday. Let's get bad news out of the way first: It's coming tomorrow. The good news is...it shipped finally.

JO4uMRz.gif

Ooops, wrong Japanese game. Oh, that reminds me I should probably finish the last three boss fights of Bravely Default tonight, two years AFTER I put in 92 hours into the game.

Lol you went through the second half but never actually finished it?

Lol you went through the second half but never actually finished it?
I have one boss rush, one crystal left to restore, and then the final fight at the end to do. That's it. All the characters and jobs are maxed out in XP (I loved grinding in this game; I utterly played Star Trek Online while twirling the circle pad and pressing A - which doesn't say much for Star Trek Online being able to play it with one hand...OK that sounded just plain disgusting).

Why did I stop? Well I wound up with a little old console called the PSP. Most of you CAG regulars know the rest of the story from there.

I didn't get mine yet either. Please enjoy this while you wait.

Since I do not have time to go back through all the posts and find the dude who was looking for a Bravely Second: End Layer CE since Amazon cancelled his, toss me a PM.  I can help you out.  I don't want my copy and it is arriving today.

Last edited by a moderator:
Just got my Bravely Second CE from Amazon, a lot bigger than the first one. The art book is pretty nice though I wish it was a hardcover. But not a bad looking CE, especially since I got it for like $45 with the 40% off glitch.

I think these are probably too big for padded envelopes.
Oh, Amazon retards will find a way if they could. That fiasco with the first CE was ridiculous and outside of people complaining for $10 here and there, I don't think they ever did anything. They still bubble mail everything they can with no respect for the contents.

I still get a kick out of the very next item that was shipped to me in a box: it was something that could have been bubble mailed NP, the box was oversized by a lot for the product and yet would have fit the CE perfectly. They lost my business for a while after that one.

I ordered two copies of the CE. One from Amazon and one from Best Buy. Both showed up trashed in different ways. Both were in boxes. Irritating...
