Official Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories Thread

It makes no sense at all... $70 for Disgaea USED... I'm sure if you look hard enough, there are still some places that sell it new for $50, but still, $70?
holy shit indeed!
fuck ebgames/gamestop for charging so much (for a copy that is probably disc only and scratched up) and giving ridiculously low trade in prices on used games (for the most part).
All hail commerce.

It does make sense... Ebay price has gone way up, I'm looking at copies now that ended for $85, $90, and fucking $110 for Disgaea 1, for a mint / complete used copy.

Gamestop charging $70, $63 after discount, for a copy you can see beforehand and get a warranty on, is a damn good deal by comparision.

I was going to say it didn't make any sense because my SEALED Disgaea (from the reprint) sold for $85 a few weeks ago. I guess I should have waited :D. When I found the used copy I sold my new one. It seemed a shame to open it when I could get a used copy for $40 (back then) in EB credit. I guess someone got a good deal! I checked completed auctions and that was pretty high for the time (used were about $60 - I actually had to lower it from $95 or so because it didn't sell for 5 days). I don't even want to look at new/mint/sealed prices now .

I think I saw one sell for $165 ;)

Damn you Roufuss! Now you are going to make me look!

Well, I was going to edit my last post (but couldn't for some reason - wierd) and say how I shouldn't think of it that way as it worked out for me. I spent $50 buying the reprinted Digaea from Fry's. I spent $40 (in EB credit I already had) buying the used copy. I sold the new one for $85 which pretty much covers the used one - so I got Disgaea for a few $$, not bad.

But $165?? That's a different story
http://cgi.ebay.com/DISGAEA-HOUR-OF...6QQihZ005QQcategoryZ62053QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Damn, it was a Buy It Now too! I figured it would only hit $165 with a bidding war. And there's no actual picture of the game or notice about it being the "original" seal version or not.

What the hell is wrong with people? I thought for sure the best time to sell was a few weeks before the release of Disgaea 2, when people might be looking for the first. I figured people would be busy PLAYING the 2nd right when it came out and not need the first. eBay buyers are wierd creatures

I had mine at $95 for 5 days and got very little interest (and I have high feedback, no negs at all, and I had a picture of the actual copy of the game I was selling). I lowered it and it finally sold with 1 day left. I was about to relist it at $70 or so if it hadn't sold. Others around the same time sold for $60-$80.

damn. crazy price on the first game. I was lucky to get it used (mint/complete) at EB a couple months ago for $30 (after Edge card).

I hope the price for this new one doesn't get out of hand. I still have to finish the first one.

No, because I preordered and paid full price for this one, I'm sure it will be bargain-bin fodder in a year. Seriously, though, that's probably going to be the case as it is not published by Atlus - it will be more like other NIS games that are easy to find fairly cheap (La Pucelle, Phantom Brave, etc). But oh well - as long as I play it in the next few months I'll be OK with paying full price for it.

I bought a brand new, first press edition (with white security seal on top) off ebay for about $65 a couple of months ago. I guess I got a good deal

As much as I loved the first Disgaea I've stilled decided to hold off buying the sequel. I already got burned paying full price for Phantom Brave and Makai Kingdom only to see them drop to $20 half a year later. I've got plenty of games to play anyways.

To those playing and not reading the manual, lt me say this to clear up confusion if you hadn't already noticed. Unlike monster classes that usuall appear in the create character mode after defeat, some of the human classes are bills that need to be passed. So far I've opened the Gunner, Oracle, Armor Knight and Magic Knight class. Do yourself a favor: as soon as you are able to make an oracle and an Armor Knight, MAKE THEM!!! The oracle's special skill is he's not affected by any Geo Panel effects (that's both good and bad) plus he has star ans healing powers, and the Armor Knight is a tank with the amount of HP he gains each level. Be sure to give him a pair of shoes to increase movement and glasses to increase his hit, since his best weapon is an axe.

How could the hub hold two discs in there? It can't really lock with 2 discs in it, can it?

Anyway, great for those who got a spare disc.

Are those the Senate options like "Make a Buxom Beauty" or whatnot? I tried doing that, it got passed, yet I didn't see any new classes available in the Create a Character menu.

Try looking again, a little closer... they are there... I haven't gotten the Buxom bill yet, but I have opened the Wiseman, Female Ninja, Armor Knight, Gunner, and Beast Tamer thus far by passing bills. What you can try is pass the bill, exit out the Assembly and come back. The new class should be there.

WOW i was just looking and the first one sealed is fetching 160+. I wonder if i should dump mine or hold on to it.

I just got the game last night and so far put around 2 hours into it. Great game. Hopefully i can put 5 to 7 hours into tonight.

i hope this game isnt too freaking easy. I remember the first one you had to play 5 hours or so before you could make it though item world. I just hit the 3 hour mark and was able to walk though the first 10 levels of a low level item without problems

i doubt i will enjoy this game as much as part one since so many games copied this (makai kingdom ect)

I think (But I'm not sure) it came it a 2 disc case. Like the ones used for KOF 2002/2003 and DMC2.

Any tips on earning lots of mana? I need a lot to reincarnate people and get the most stats out of it with Genius.

Killing monsters helps.

game time spent playing story 3 hours
game time spent already in item world 5 hours

LOL im like level 24 and havent even started on the 3rd chapter since item world is taking up all my time

Its a great game but i dont think it was worth the 80 i blew on it. HOpefully i can dump the soundtrack the manga and the guide for around 30 and later on dump the artbook for around 100 LOL RIGHT

but would love to dump the manga soundtrack and guide for at least some cash (listed them all on ebay) hopefully they sell

woooo dumped the soundtrack on ebay for around 20 shipped (knocks price down to around 70 now) ... now only if the guide and manga would sell

I think im spending way too much time in item world.

im like LEVEL 40 with almost 800 attack power and just starting CH 4.

MUST leave ltem world alone.

Level 52 attack is around 1500 defence is around 1200 Hp is around 4500

and i havent even started level 4 on my first walk though.

they should of sealed off item world until you got to chapter 7 i mean game is no fun Taking a LEVEL 52 dude in and crushing level 12s

Fun fact of the day:

DON'T open the Dark World unless you're really a high enough level to deal with it. Beating Friday Mk. II makes it so if you achieve the requirements for certain Dark World's of the maps, you get sucked right into it. And some of them are insanely easy to accomplish. For example, 1-3 is just taking ANY damage. Not that anyone would use Level 1-3 as a leveling level if you beat Friday Mk. II, but that's just an example. Basically, you can cut yourself off from certain powerleveling levels. Just to give you an idea, with a party of around level 30 with some powerful items, I whupped Friday and now have cut myself from certain levels cause they requirement is too easy to achieve and I'll get my ass kicked in the Dark World.

then im fucked then i havent startred chapter 4 and i already opened up the dark world

item world is the best place to level up though. I got the main dude to around 60 level. Taking him into an item world that starts with people LEVEL 22+... he can walk though 5 to 7 floors easy picking up major equipment for the rest of the part. THey made this game WAY TOO EASY

your right about the dark world thing and im majorly fucked. 22 hours into it i dont feel like restarting so i either have to massive level build in item world or just give up : (

Im about 25 hours in and loving it! I'd say the storyline so far isnt as endearing or madcap as the original games, but it still good.

Im strictly doing the main story for now. Im not gonna mess with the item world or dark world until my second playthru. I dont want to level up too much and turn the main story into a cakewalk. Im on chapter 9 right now and all my characters are in the mid thirties level range, and the game is fairly challenging for me at that level. Im almost always a couple of levels lower than whatever Im fighting.

Heres a beginners trick I figured out. Im sure advanced players already know this but it might help out someone new.

I was looking for an easy way to level up new level 1 characters quickly to intergrate them into my group of thirty somethings. The quickest way I could figure out to do this was as follows. Take your highest level guy, probably Adell, and go to a map with enemies that are as tough as you can handle solo. I used the battle colosseum semi final round, cos it has alot of enemies in the 20-22 level range. I take out Adell, and take out my level 1, and have Adell pick them up and hold them over his head. When you do this you can still attack, and the character your holding up shares in the experience, but takes no damage from any attacks. I got a level 1 character all the way to level 26 in about 30 minutes doing this. You can hold up a whole tower of low levels to do this too, but they will get less exp, cos more people are sharing it.

Im sure once you get into the postgame theres a million better wats to power level, but this method works pretty good early on.

You thought you lvl method was pretty good? It's no where as close as acquiring lvl 9999 monster trick of Carmilla and Nekomatas.I recieved 8 lvl 9999 Carmilla in less then 20 hours of gameplay.Right now,I'm trying to improve my items in the item dungeon to fight against baal. His stats are so freakin high, about 200,000+ in every stats.

Level 9999 Monster Trick

Requirement
-Lots of money
-Access to map 4-2

Step 1:Capturing Nikomatas
1.Visit map 4-2
2.Kill all the enemies except one for monster to capture.
3.Let the monster accumate some lvl standing on geo panel.
4.When the monster recieved your desired lvl, toss the enemy into your summoning panel and capture them.
5.Go to hospital heal.
6.Rinse and repeat and capture the monster twice as powerfull this time.Keep doing this till you have at least 3-5 lvl 2000+ Nekomatas.

Step 2:Make more money(not required, but it's a good source of money for your more expensive hospital bill)
1.Purpose to the dark assembly and open the cave of ordeals
2.Have acess to map cave of ordeals 4 (this map is great source of money and lvl experience)

Step 3:Access to Dark World
1.Press and find 5 hidden devices in holt village:
-one behind the dark secretary
-back of adell's house
-behind the house that Zommie III in front of
-opposite side of the pathway behind mario boy
-front-right corner of the map

2.After pressing all of the switchs,a shadow person namedFriday MKII should appear in holt village
3.Talk to her 4 times and accept her challenge. You can beat her easily with Nikomatas.

Step 4:Ability to capture Carmilla
The new class change rules is very irrating. You can only get one new class per character. No matter how high you lvl.For example, when you lvl up your basic fighter 9999 you earn warrior class and nothing else even when you fullfill the other class requirements.

1.Create a empusa(sucubus)with Nikomata.Visit cave of ordeals 4,use group attack and Lvl up empuse till it reaches lvl12.Now you can create lilim.
2.Create a Lilim with Nikomata.Visit cave of ordeals 4,use group attacks and lvl up lvl up lilim till it reaches 24.Now you can create succubus.
3.Create a Succubs with Nikomata.Visit cave of ordeals 4,use group attack and lvl up succubs till it reaches lvl 48.Now you can create Carmilla, thus enabling you to capture a Carmilla class.

Final Step:Capture Carmilla

Requirement:
-at least two iron kight
-at least a few 2000+ monster
-money for expesnive hospital bills

1.Go to the normal diminsion gate and visit map 5-2.
2.Clear the stage with less then 5 allies.A new stage will open.Refuse to enter the stage.Save your game. Now enter the new map
3.First turn, destroy the annoying clone geo panel.Have 2 iron knights and toss the Nikomata near the clone panel use Cat blast to destoy it.About every few turns one of the enemy will be destroyed by the sun.Lure the monster to summoning panel.
4.When the monster recieved your desired lvl, toss the enemy into your summoning panel and capture them.
5.Go to hospital heal.
6.Rinse and repeat and capture the monster twice as powerfull this time. You will eventually have 9999 monster.

I just beat the main story today, with the normal ending.

Okay. I liked the ending. Predictable, but there was one thing I liked.

AN OBVIOUS ANIME/GAME COUPLE ACTUALLY HOOKED UP.

Rozalin and Adell being in love was obvious from the intro. But too often (aka: EVERY FREAKING ANIME EVER) one of them gets killed, or more often, they NEVER RESOLVE IT. It's a tired old mechanic that happens all the freaking time.

But no, they actually resolved it, they did the sex, all was good.

Bout freaking time.

I had the most absurd level in the item world yesterday.. all but about 5 randomly placed squares on the map had geo symbols creating clone, evade, def +50%, reverse damage, and some other effect. It was very funny to see Everyone was running around getting cloned, missing each other, and when they did hit, it just healed people, but not too much, because everone's defense is way up.. rediculous. Took forever to get through the enemies to the level exit. I would have used tink, but he died a few floors before. I also would have destroyed the geo symbols, but my healer, the only one who could do damage, was also killed..

I am still in the second episode and my lvls are all around 7 or 8, except for my healer. She is lvl 10 or 11. When should I make more guys and when should I just into the item world? Last time I Ass-Pirate showed up and wiped my party out.

Use tink or moth units, both have high movement and can walk by units. If you just started buy and equip 3 cheap shoes to add +3 movement. You should also visit dark assembly to propose +1 movement for tink.Have plenty of gency exit ijust in case if your in a jam.

To make things easier get an accerlator that adds a +3 movement. In order to obtain it use 3 Kurtis cellphones(cellphones can be found by random bonus or cell phone shop in the item world).Have adell become a senetor to pass "resuce that earth hero".Beat extra stage to receive your accelarator.

Not sure about the Disgaea 2, but in Disgaea 1 you got them as the first bonus item from the bonus bar on every 10th floor in the item world.

Exact same in D2

Damn you slidecage!!! Ever since I read about your itemworld exploits, Ive been in there nonstop! Ive gained about 20 levels just messin around in item world. Im trying to up my felony count up.

Heres another beginners tip I thought up while trying to aquire felonies...

- When you get a subpeona, dont go into the item world in that subpeona. Take the bailiff in that subpeona and move him into an item worth leveling up. That way your leveling up an item your actually gonna use while you try to reach the dark gate and get the felony. I tend to stick my bailiffs into rare and legendary items that I will actually equip on my characters.

And dont forget when you get to the dark gate, make a tower of all your characters and have one throw the other 9 into the gate. Each character in the tower will get felonies. This helps tremendously with getting everyone lots of felonies quickly.

Im level 50-something, Im over 30 hours into the game and I cant wait to run home and play some more! =D

hahaha! I used that trick on prinnies in the first game. To speed that process up even further, dont wait for the Nekatomas to level up, you can throw them into each other and level them up even quicker!

Gods damn is 12-6 fucking hard. I suppose it's my fault since I don't like using magic users as much, but did they really need to make one of the bosses of this level physical proof? That's just fucking mean.
