dv8, hey dv8!

Do you like Gunbuster & Diebuster Blu-ray 3-disc Limited Edition? (Region 1)

Nyoro~
Not really my thing.

hey dv8mad, whats your thread title say? Ive been teaching myself japanese for about 5 months now (its challenging, but i really have the will to learn :p ) anyway, i want to say it says irasshai but i am unsure of these 2 symbols.. (the ones in bold)

いらっしゃ

i also want to say it means welcome, but i learned welcome as

いらっしゃいます

so was i even close? or totally wrong? :p just curious really as i really am trying to teach myself the langauge.

いらっしゃ~いっ = "welcome" (irasshai)

If I'm not mistaking the small っ character means you add a pause to the sound. It can also be used to double consonant sounds or break up sounds within a word.

As for the
~ character, I believe that means you hold the song to elongate the sound like the "o" in the word "coat" in English. So you sort of hold that sound for a second to make it longer. Breaks up the monotony of the speaking in a sense.But what do I know. Almost all the Japanese I learned is from "My Japanese Coach" ^_^;;;

dv8, I'll swing out tomorrow or Tuesday to another Target to check on the Muggs. I may try Shopko as well, though they sell them for $16.99 . Granted, I would guess that means they'll have a higher chance of having some of the older ones.

Does Walmart or Kmart carry these? I can try there too.

Also, I've got a copy of the Iron Man bluray, but it's the special helmet case. I'm looking at buying the standard version now that it's down around the $15 mark to replace it. Do you care if it's the helmet case?

And finally, a question from my wife. She's curious if you have seen any Marble Pocky about. :D

Yeah. Walmart and Kmart do carry them though Walmart might not have any since they cleared most of their old stock and Kmart charges more for them ($14.99?).

Shady3011, sorry ^_^ for all I know I could be completely wrong. I'm sure that dv8mad will point out that it did in fact state Japan is full of weirdos and then I'll be the one with said fun ruined :)

the ます is just a formalization so both mean the same things with different formality/respect - they're also generally tied to businesses if I am not mistaken (also something for dv8 to correct) but I don't encounter it as often when entering someone's home (maybe my Japanese friends are slackers).

おじゃまします is tough to translate but is something a guest can say when entering a home - kind of like... I'm entering... or something... I'm Chinese so my Japanese is pretty limited and still subject to study and correction as well ; ;

Speaking of my Japanese coach - how's that working out for you sir? ^^ I might have to look into it as a supplement to textbooks/friends

indeed, いらっしゃいませ is used normally for business. at least as i learned it. You usually will hear it when entering a store, or any other business for that matter. im not sure what they say though when you enter someones house or something..

LOL, wow! I actually responded to grimace in his thread last night. I thought this conversation was over! LOL

Shady - Japan is absolutely not full of weirdos!

(We still have room for a few, so come on over guys!)

tlp - As for the Ironman case, I don't know what the difference is, but as long as it will sit on the shelf, I don't really care what the case is like.

jaideam - No one would say ます at the end, it's just not used.

If you guys want to see the full explanation I gave, you can visit grimace's page and throw a bump his way. I'm sure he wouldn't complain. ;)

EDIT - Oops! rc - details? Ummm, game, case, manual complete is great condition.

I haven't been using My Japanese Coach for a few month because I have been so busy with work but it is great for learning vocabulary, sentence structure and katakana and hiragana or Kanji even. Maybe useless for advanced learners but the built in dictionaries and language guides are useful. I also imported that Sonomama Dictionary but that is super advanced :)

hey dv8mad, your package will be going out tomorrow (today now technically). I thought about actually writing your address in 日本語, but I held off。
http://www.marvel.com/comics/onsale/lib/view2.htm?filename=/i/content/5196275712_full2726699.jpg

The box it comes in stands about the height of a regular dvd, but is twice as thick.
I think that looks pretty cool actually! Yeah, I would like it if you are going to be parting with it.

Antic - Thanks! I would have been pretty impressed if you have written it out in full Japanese. then again, I would have been pretty disappointed if it had been delivered to someone else.
LOL

you know you want those dinobot muggs!!! :)

i am glad tlp got you the prime and soundwave. I only saw them at k-mart which charges premium for these. no wonder they doing bad.

I heard that Grimlock is going to be the first anatomically correct Mighty Mugg.

As for everyone else that I had stuff going with. Those of you that expected to have items shipped recently, they were all shipped this morning now that the rain and the weekend are out of the way.
Huh? The Grimlock MM has no penis.
Exactly.

Aw man. I saw Total Recall Blu-ray at Walmart today for $9. I didn't know you wanted it. Maybe a Best Buy price match plus $3 off coupon makes it $6?

I'll let you know if that works out.

When is the next list update dv8? Any status on those things I'm looking for?
(Actually don't update me, I just spent way too much on anime and has no monies.)

BTW- Mark my "pending" as "paid" so that no one takes my precious.
So-so deal on the W@W rmb. You should have picked up something else worth more. K-mart is having W@W on sale for PS3 for $30 starting today. Can you say, Walmart price match? I'd say take it back and get another copy of SF IV or KZ2 to eBay/ trade.

IMO, since this is CAG I'll make that suggestion for you. =)
I knew that but wanted that game and the bottom line is it was credit, credit earned the right, smart way, and maximized. Still got them all for 105 total which is 35 each. Killzone will probably be traded on here. Personally I am not a big fan but may give it a chance.

LOL, don't worry, no one can take it unless it's "?PENDING to ~?". It's 100% yours seeing as you've even paid already. Just LMK when you want to have it shipped.

List updates may be done for now actually. I plan to try and wrap up all the pending trades within the next couple of weeks and consolidate that list. After that... Well, who knows! ;)

As for Total Recall, I highly recommend everyone print a special pocket sized dv8mad want list and carry it on their person at all times.

I would but my wallet is overflowing with cash money. No room for a want list.

Consolidate slower. If you wait until most people have their buffed up tax return the US should go into a spending spree. I personally won't bother with a lowball sale until people have their rebates in. (Just as planned.)
You should probably get rid of that referral link, DV. Some people might be dumb enough to click on it.
Good call.

EDIT - Speaking of... Hey dist, thanks for the "bump" one minute after my post. :bomb: Where were you last night man?!?!?

Well, three stores down and no Yoda (or Venom for Shady). I'll be about 30 miles south with work tomorrow and will stop by a Kmart in the area. They may run at a slight premium, but that means they may have some of the older Muggs as well.

Here's to hoping, anyway.

Two more questions from my wife:

1) What size clothes does your little boy use? My son was born in September, but is already in the 12 months size; the little chunk. We've got a bunch of used and even quite a few new sets of clothes we can send your way.

2) Any comment on the availability of Marble Pocky? My understanding is that it is a chocolate-flavored stick with a white/milk chocolate swirl.

tlp - He's in the right size clothing. We have been putting him in 3-4 month stuff and it's a tiny bit big on him. He seems to be right on track I think.
As for marble pocky, I haven't had a chance to have a look around at all, but I will let you know!

Antic - I hope you used first class international.

kube - Not thread crapping at all. I told him myself I didn't like the reserves, that's why the auction doesn't have my name on it. Hopefully he will find some people that want those items at those prices though.
BTW, did your n64 make it yet?
Good call.

You're very welcome and I was busy 'servicing' other people, you'll get your turn.
No one is buying DoubleEcksZero's stuff b/c of the reserve prices and no offense to him he doesn't have much variety, I'm sure he'll get eventual bids just not as high as he wants

Sorry to thread crap

Bump
Not all of us can afford to give stuff away, I have expensive items, and I'm not chancing anyone getting some $100 item for a buck. If anyone wants to take offense to my reserved prices then they can bite me, its ludicrous to go "Oh, I want that expensive item for less then that, so I won't bid on anything." If someone really thinks like that then screw em I don't need them. Sure, I could remove the reserved price items all together, but that would give the buyers less things to choose from. Furthermore, my reserved prices are pretty far below retail, so I don't see what the problem really is. I'd like most of the reserved price items to sell for higher, but the reserved price is the highest loss I'm willing to accept. I also had more items in my original lowball sale list, but I removed like 1/2 because I presumed that my thread wouldn't be all that busy, and going at the rate it is I probably won't add them back at all.

What I don't understand is... DoubleEcksZero, why not just have a cut off where the lowball sale ends?
--------------------------Low ball sale ends here------------------

Then you can use dv8's name and get more hits (presumably).

@Shady3011
I don't use ebay

@Mark
Well my hope was that the reserved items would also sell like the other items, I mean it wasen't a huge deal if the sale was bust, I compensated enough for that possibility. If that happens I'll just cut my losses and never do that again.

this is exactly why i wont do a lowball sale. i have been very tempted too but i cant take the risk (since if i were to have one, i would put in some high level items on my TL)
this is exactly why i wont do a lowball sale. i have been very tempted too but i cant take the risk (since if i were to have one, i would put in some high level items on my TL)
Same reason I waited so long to start mine, I meant to do it a long time ago before everyone else started doing it, but I waited cause I didn't wanna have reserved prices, but the craze started so I decided to get in before it dies out.

Let me say this about lowball sales: Yes many items will end below eBay prices (unfortunately ^_^) but the thing is you pay NO fees (other than perhaps Paypal fees at most), the items go back to the CAG community and you can sell a TON of items at one time without having to worry about time listing them, photographing every item, worrying about non-payers, etc.

So what you lose in lowball sales, you make up for in time, friends, CAG feedback and experience. But definitely, don't sell the items if you're not willing to let them go for very little. I had some games end for only $1.00 - $2.00 but overall I still did very well so it was worth it. It's not for everyone, but it is a heck of a lot of fun for those who like them :)

I'd take money before time, friends, and CAG feedback.

Well that's just the thing Double... money is good and I don't blame anyone for wanting more of it, but what you gain from the CAG community can often come around full circle. I view it as an investment, myself. Overall, 9 out of 10 times, I am positive the CAG route will net you more in the end.

If you don't want to do a lowball sale, don't ^_^ like I said, it's not for everyone. Just don't hold it against those who do.
I'd take money before time, friends, and CAG feedback.
goomba is right. sell online with amazon or ebay, and your going to get raped with fees, plus paypal rapes you for some more fees as well. Not only that, but listing on ebay is such a hassle....

to be able to bring all the stuff here, list and sell it without the hassle is a HUGE plus. Sure the actual prices might be less in the end, but i guarantee you did about 9000000000000 times less work :p its just a ton easier, and like i said, you might actually make more because of not having to pay fees

Clearly I just said I don't use Ebay, and I don't plan on using amazon and its prolly not that much work actually, and I have a lowball sale in progress so I dunno what goomba is talkin' about, but regardless I don't really know what you guys are trying to argue, you have no points. A lowball sale isn't a particualrly good way to sell items, nor is ebay nor is amazon. They are all just ways, all of which I know of. All of which are about the same.

It's a good way to sell items that probably are better to get rid of than keep around. Anyway, your items honestly aren't going to sell here since they are too niche to appeal to most.
