It pretty much is the same, just a shiny metallic paint. I'm gonna hoard as many exclusives from that show as I can.. so help me. :D

I want to make this one Jaide.

Hey, I am having a dv8mad lowball sale. I included a link to your page in it, and I followed your rules. Could you post my link on yours? That would be really cool. Thanks!

The only image hosting site I can view at work is flickr so I will take a look when I get home dv8

Now that sum41sucks has been put in his place, I can have that lowball sale I've been planning. Contrary to popular belief, it'll be about a week long to give more CAGs a chance to see it. I'll post up some preview pictures tonight and roll more out over the weekend. I don't think I'll have a lot of items, but I'm going for quality over quantity.

Got a chance to check out the image and I think it will look good. With most of the focus of that art being on the left though you could potentially consider non-transparent buttons but that is entirely up to you as it would look good either way. What you'll need is a really large copy of that image, preferably at least 1600xwhatever - if that's not available we can mess around w/scaling it but things don't scale well

tlp - I dub thee Master of the Universe!
(for a day)

adriley - Bad news... I tried to make one of those yesterday, but they have too many shades. The one has 6 different purples and I have 4. Also, they all tend to have "shadows" which are a greyed out version of the color and I don't even know if they make colors like that.
I'm still planning to make some Pokemon stuff because I assume they will go well when we set up a little flea market area here in July, but I'll have to use older version or maybe even Gameboy versions to cut down on the complexity.

jaide - Actually, that is a 2000xsomething image, so it should work perfectly!
I'm also going to post it over in the stick forum to see if anyone else has anything to add advice-wise.

I started working on a list of the things I would want to put up for sale last night. It may be too long. I will PM you when I am done with it. Thanks again.

Hey dv8,

Your mailbox is full, so I'll just post the message in here:

I looked it up, and unfortunately Dinosaur is one of the few region locked titles. I assume your PS3 is a Japanese one if it's not working for you, so that's where the problem lies.

If you would like to return it I understand. Send me a PM stating so and we'll work something out.

Sorry again,
lolwut?

That should have no effect though. Japan and the US share a region on blu.

I had a package arrive today dv8, I had completely forgotten about it, thanks again. Been watching Rome... damn I love that show.

Hey dv8mad, just wanted to say hi! Sorry I didn't buy anything in your final lowball sale. I just have way too many games at the moment in my backlog and little money to spend on acquiring new ones :) Hope all is well for you and Ai though! Keep in touch ^_^

Hmm, I'm not sure what the problem could be then. Do you have access to another PS3 you could test it on?

I ran some google searches and looked at some reviews but saw no problems mentioned.

And Dinosaur was the sealed one out of the bunch

Is it ok if I ask what the specific problem with the blu-ray is? Dv8, if you haven't tried already, unplug your PS3 from your router or disconnect it from the wireless router, then try.

Good call. The dvd could be trying to dial into a US-only website to update something. I tried to look around online for issues with Dinosaur and all I found were a few UK versions that were freezing at the menu.

Thanks for the good ideas guys. I'll go ahead and try it when I get home from work tonight.
Here are the details though;
I put in the disc and absolutely nothing comes up on the menu. It doesn't sound like it tries to read it for an inordinate amount of time or anything either. Simply nothing comes up. I thought maybe there was a problem with the PS3, so I tried a few more discs and the disc icon came up for them all almost immediately. I tried Dinosaur again and still, nothing happens.

lolwut? - Any chance you still have the receipt for this and could get it swapped out for another if disconnecting it from the network doesn't work?

I found something that may be part of the problem:

Even more irritating is that the disc has no main menu screen, just Blu-ray pop-up menus accessible while the movie plays. This becomes an issue during the initial set-up if you wish to change your audio or subtitle options. Since the pop-up menus don't work while the movie is paused, you have no choice but to navigate through all the menus while the beginning of the movie plays beneath them, and then skip back to the start of the chapter when you're done. The interface is far from user friendly.

If this is the case, it's possible that some of the previews before the film are NTSC format and that's causing the disc not to move forward to the actual movie. I'm not sure if that is the case, but I do know that it can happen. My copy of Saints & Soldiers, for example, has all of the extras in PAL format even though the film is on a bluray. I can watch the movie, but I can't see the trailers or documentaries.

I have no receipt. I got it for free, it was not store-bought
NTSC shouldn't have any impact on dv8 though since japan uses a ntsc format (as far as I recall anyways)
Not the same, it's more of a indication of what TV the image will display on. Doesn't have anything to do with region locking.

jaide and dist are both correct, NTSC doesn't matter and Japan uses it anyway. Not to mention the fact I have an LCD so it would display PAL as well were that the case.

Anyway, I disconnected it from the internet and still nothing. I didn't think updating was the issue. Literally no change happens to the XMB after I insert the disc. I also have the newest PS3 updates as well and still nothing. I think this disc is hosed.

indeed, I'm familiar with the NTSC vs PAL thing seeing as I have family in HK and in order to view stuff they send me need to take that into consideration - sorry the disc is fubared dv8

Well so much for my wildly speculative thoughts. ^_~

So if I understand correctly, Japanese DVDs are NTSC but are just region locked for viewing outside of Japan. Is it possible the previews on Dinosaur could be region-locked SD or do you region-lock all or nothing? Granted, JP and US are the same region for BD anyway... Alright, yeah, I'm lost.

The disc doesn't even show up, I'm gonna go with jaide on this one. It sounds like it's fubared.
DV8, do you know anyone else with a PS3 that you could test it on?
Taking it with me to work today. I'm going to go to Sofmap and "shop" for a new blu-ray player with my "test disc". ;)

I've finally got this figured out - as I receive money toward your Kindle fund, I'll put the equivalent amount on my Amazon account as a gift card. That way I just manage the full balance in one place (instead of splitting it between PayPal and Amazon).

Also, now that I've got your requests I'm putting another package together. The She-Ra dvds are on the heavy side, so I'll be doing another flat-rate box. Any additional requests? I've got roughly 1/3 of the box left open.

Thanks for the words of encouragement on my blog post, btw. ^_~

No, no specific requests, but feel free to take your time. I'm not in a hurry and Ryu seems to be talking his time to grow as well.

We are also working on a box for you, but it's going a bit slower than I had hoped. I hope that we can get something out to you within the next week or so!

Blog comments? Whatever do you mean? We all know you don't blog.

What size of clothes would you like for Ryu? Nate is 8 months old today and already in 18 month clothes, so I can get you some of his 6-9mos, 9-12mos, or 1-yr clothes.

And take your time as well. We're not in a hurry, though things have taken a positive turn on the house. The sellers called us directly (a realty faux pas as I'm told) and we had a nice talk. Essentially, if this new appraisal come in at or above a dollar amount we discussed, we'll get the house. We spoke to the appraiser, who had some questions about the size of the house, for which he had three conflicting reports. In short, he went to the house and gave us the number he feels he can achieve - which happens to be in the right ballpark.

We should know more tomorrow. :D

Oh, my mistake. I don't know where that came from. ;)

Well, the sale seems to be a success so far, I've received payment from 5 people, raised around $125 and have started packaging the games.

I finally got your item out last week, I apologize for the huge delay. I had to go print out everything at my girl's place since my internet has been down for almost 2 weeks now. and yea, my internet is still down. gah! freakin verizon.
