How are you supposed to get through the village? I killed about 8-9 of them while running out of clips and relying on my knife, which I soon died with and there were still 3-4 zombies left when I died, how are you supposed to kill that many?

ammo is everywhere.

The only problem I ever have is I have too much ammo

enter the village, hang an immediate left and pick up the stuff in the room on the hill, go straight down and enter the building to the right, pick up more stuff, hop out the window, and run under the platfrom and enter the building to the left to get the stuff in there, then head across the way to the building directly across from the 2 story house, barricade yourself in and pick up all the stuff. Then head to the 2 story building, barricade yourself in and blow the crap out of some zombies.

If you're talking about in the very begginign;
You must run into a certain house on the left side of the village to trigger a cutscene that introduces theguy with a chainsaw. Kill the guy with the chainsaw and thegame will progress. It's the same house with your budde the shotgun in it. At least, tha's hw it is in the demo.

I just played for about 1/2 an hour. Amazing. I can already tell that the combat will give it great replay value. I could run through the same section of the game and kill in so many different ways.

I've already had some fun with the enemies. I shot a running guy in the leg and he tripped down a short drop. Nothing huge, but it looked great. Further on, I climbed up into a hay loft, kicked a ladder, and proclaimed "What are you gonna do now?" to the zombie below. Then I took a hatchet in in chest...

My laser cel from the SE is 01687 of 48000. I'm pleased with how low my number is.

Hope everyone else is enjoying it, too.

Not true... you can beat it without ever going into that house and triggering the chainsaw guy. I found it easiest to start down the path to the left, wasting the lone citizen over there and then taking out the hatchet thrower on the roof, then wasting the people who come from the sides of the house and the inside, collecting their ammo as they expire and then when the cutscene is triggered run to the center of town so you have plenty of space to manuver and run if need be. From there just keep taking out townspeople until the church bell rings.

Well I put about an hour and a half into it. Around one hour of that was spent trying to get the hell out of that village. Here are my thoughts.

First off, the game is great looking. Sometimes the textures look a little low res, but thats no big deal. The character models and detail are all top notch. Great stuff. Also the controls feel so much better this time around. No more grinding against walls and having the camera angle change on me where my controls go ass backwards and I keep exiting to the previous screen. Very nice.

The game sort of feels like a Tom Clancy game to me. No it's not a stealth game, or a tactical shooter. What makes it feel like a TC game is the level of awareness and the difficulty. The game is tough, but definitely paying attention to your surroundings and staying sharp will get you out of sticky situations. This is the thinking mans survival horror game. Its great because everytime you play this game, you can figure out different tactics and strategies to overcome your obsticles, like the Tom Clancy game Splinter Cell. This is definitely new to the survival horror genre.

The music kind of rips off Silent Hill a bit, but thats not a bad thing. More horror games need eerie music like this. The sound effects and everything are top notch as well. I even like the dialog quite a bit. It reminds me of those old Arnold flicks where he spouts cheesey lines, yet they rule. "where's everybody going?! Bingo?!" HA! So corny yet so so satisfying.

As I said in the other topic, this is the most intense game I have ever played. No game has made me panic as much as this one has. My heart thumps like crazy while I am playing this game. The game isn't as scary as games like Silent Hill, but yet Silent Hill games are not as frantic and give you this strong sense of panic like RE4 does. So really RE4 is kind of a new Survival Horror game. Most of the games in this genre either scare you by making things pop out and go boo, or show you sick demented shit. This game scares you by making you panic like crazy. It's great stuff.

I haven't gotten that far to really see the crazy stuff yet, but I have seem some pretty crazy stuff so far. Its cool because this game is hard but it doesn't frustrate you. You will die a lot yet you will come right back for more and have fun at each attempt. This is a rarity for video games. Its also fine to die because you die in such fashions that you will love to see your character die, it's kinda funny. So if you die, you will go "woa that was fuckin nuts!" rather than "aarrrrggggg *throws controller* aaaahhhh". This is also a gaming rarity.

In conclusion, this game achieves many things most games cannot. I am very suprised on how well this game came out. This is what the series really needed. I just hope future installments of the RE franchise will continue to attempt new things like Capcom did with this one, because it works and works very well.

I don't have the game, and haven't played it. I was talking with a friend, and he told me that they speak a different language.

anyone get to disc 2 yet, seems like ive been playing a while now.....i just entered the castle with the flaming catapults and crazy monks.

How's everyones game going? I'm loving it, I just started chapter 3 with the chainsaw man but I cant figure out how to kill him, I fired 13 rounds or so of a shotgun and it took him down 2-3 times but didn't die, do I just have to keep blasting or is there some secret to it? Such a scary game, Yet so freaking fun.

I just ran past him

My strategy for killing the chainsaw guys (who I dub "Leatherface") is to knock them over point blank with the shotgun, run foward, slash at them with the knife till they get up, then repepat. Works fairly well.

In the first area, I can easily beat "Leatherface" with a knife. All I do is un up a ladder, he climbs up, and then I push the ladder down. He falls and I hit him with the shotgun a few times. Just keep doing this and he will be dead in no time.

With the chainsaw guys and the...um...*special* villagers with the extra..yeh...them i use the Flash Granades. Makes the chainsaw guys babies and makes the *special* villigars go boom

just beat the game a few minutes ago. Man that is the best resident evil I have ever played. Actually its one of the best games I have ever played. I can't wait to try the extra modes that were unlocked. After playing around with the extras, I am going to try and play the game on the professional mode.

I'm past that and still not on Disc 2. I'm 15 hours in.. I think I just beat 4-3, or something. I should be near Disc 2. I love this game.

Chapter 5-1 is the beginning of Disc 2. I just finished the game yesterday. I have to say I was vert impressed throughout. Kudos to Capcom for such a great game.

Can you tell me what happens at the end KrazyKefka? I was at the final boss fight when my memory card crapped out on me and I had to restart it. I am now at the cage match. I would really like to know what happens. If you don't want to post here, please PM it to me. Thank you very much.
Sorry if this was posted before, I didn't read the rest of the thread, but the RE4 tin is in stores, right?
gamestop only

I didn't notice this before, but if you keep dying, the game automatically lowers the difficulty for you. For example In the cage match, I ran out of shotgun bullets, and all I had was my Punisher. I died 3 times against the prisioner guy, so the fourth time I played, the prisioner was gone, and he was replaced with a normal monk. This made that part extremely easy.

Perfect.

I beat it Friday night, and have started playing through it again. I must say that this is easily my Favorite GC game and RE game...So far my favorite game is DMC, but I think RE4 may be my favorite game now...

my 'everything re4' free score:

1) re4 preview/demo disc - courtesy EB
2) re4 'making of' dvd - courtesy EB
3) re4 soundtrack - courtesy GameStop
4) re4 mock up game cover 1 - courtesy GameStop
5) re4 mock up game cover 2 - courtesy GameStop

mock up #2 looks just like the final release version, except the back is different. mock up #1 has leon doing some sort of fence hop. (i just asked for it nicely, and they said okay)

all these 'collector' items even before i pick up the re4 game. (free goodness) :D

question: i can still purchase the gamestop collector's edition for $59.99 in my area. extras, previously listed, are the metal tin case, laser cell, and prologue art book. do you think those 3 items are worth the $20 difference, cause i have a raincheck for fry's at $39.99? Or even 6 to 12 months from now, when the price drops, and the difference becomes $35 -$40.. so the question really becomes, are those 3 items worth $20-40? thanks! :?
