Official Gears of War 2 Discussion Thread
I'm just glad carmine is back. he's the only character I actually liked alot in the series.
He isn't back? His brother is, IIRC?
Don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet....so here goes.

So the legendary edition w/ lancer is announced. No pics, few details other than it comes with a lancer and is $130. Well, this was announced at comic con and Neca had a boot at comic con w/ this

http://www.cooltoyreview.com/SDCC08/NECA/image32.asp

It says "available exclusively through amazon.com - fall 200x" (let's assume it's 2008)

Could this be the lancer from the legendary edition?
Hey Lookee! I was right! Wow, that doesn't happen to often (me being right about something). Joystiq had a post on the topic.

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/29/amazon-clarifies-some-gears-of-war-2-lancer-details/

Yeah it seems the bundle isn't an official bundle from Microsoft. Looks like it's Amazon exclusive.

So, there you have it. Microsoft is not creating a third $130 GoW2 Lancer bundle SKU and Cliff (more than likely) was just talking about the Lancer replica being created exclusively through Amazon.com. Though, the door is still open to the possibility that Amazon.com may create a Gears of War 2 Lancer replica bundle itself, but we haven't heard any official info from them. You can now sleep soundly tonight and save your $130.

Now, I'm not a huge Gearshead, but that is tempting. However, I know I'll regret it after I buy it, and think, "What am I going to do with this thing?"
It also comes with the game. ;)
Hmm. It is a bit poorly phrased:

Makes ti seem like Amazon.com doesn't have a Lancer bundle made yet...

I can see how one could misinterpret the information. The Joystiq article is a bit clearer. :)

Oh, and in regards to Carmine...

I predict a Carmine brother army. They'll rise like Terminators. :whistle2:# But seriously, how many Carmine brothers are there? Will this brother be killed only to be replaced by another in, a hypothetical, Gears 3? :whistle2:k

Apparently the Carmine that's back is not Anthony but "Benjamin Carmine". Unless he has his name changed, I don't think the original Carmine's gonna be back.

It's the original carmine's brother.

This might be a little off-topic, but here's John DiMaggio going between Bender and Marcus at the 47 minute mark.

Whenever I go to the other boards on other sites people are always talking about it being his brother. I'm pretty sure Cliff said this at Comic Con. Let me go looking for the link.

I love me some GoW and that Lancer looks cool. But, I can't swing $150 for a LE bundle w/ Lancer. It's just too much. If it came with a stand and was 'readily displayable' like some of the high end Star Wars collectible stuff (from Master Replicas or EFX), then I could be more comfortable with it.
Aww, Party Matchmaking has been confirmed. I really liked the hosting part of Gears.
XBL is moving towards a dedicated party/matchmaking system. Personally, I hated the hosting system, since it made playing with friends a pain and sometimes I would host a game only to have no people join no longer how long I waited.

God I hope this is some kind of sick joke.

The new Seriously 2.0 achievment is only for campaign :whistle2:|...hope it counts for the new horde mode, that should accumulate a ton of kills.

The freshly new "Seriously 2.0" achievement will require a whopping 100,000 kills to unlock. Yes, you read correctly, 100,000! But fear not, the achievement task isn't what you think, because "Seriously 2.0"'s 100,000 kills come from both single and co-op campaign gaming. So, no multiplayer kills will count. We say, bring on the Locust and give us our second helping of Seriously Gamerscore.

Anyone else suspect that Microsoft is planning a beta for this game to combat Sony's current robust beta lineup? SOCOM, Resistance 2, Killzone 2 and more? Damn.
Actually that isn't true. The 100,000 is over all game modes. Confirmed in this interview: http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/x08-cliff-bleszinski-talks-gears-of-war-2/. Listen to the end of the audio.
Update: We made a mistake! The Seriously 2.0 achievement's 100,000 kills are taken from EVERY game mode spread across the entire game. Meaning that every kill in campaign single or co-op, ranked or social multiplayer matches and even Horde games count towards the 100,000 kill finish line. Also, there will also be an achievement tracker notification that will randomly pop-up and update you on your Seriously 2.0 progress. Sorry for the confusion, we blame Xav ;)

I like that it includes EVERY kill you ever get on Gears 2, but 100,000 is still a lot. I don't even have 10,000 on Gears 1 so hopefully #2 is so fucking addictive that it'll be the only game I play for a year in order to get the achievement. :bomb: Well hopefully with Hoard and the new matchmaking I'll play Gears endlessly and the achievement won't be so daunting.

They probably have it worked out like GTA 4, where getting the 100,000 dollars is inevitable. Such as having you blow up an entire planet or stonghold or something that gives you a few thousand kills.

It actually might be easier with hoard. There are 50 swarms, so that could be 200 kills in the same amount of time it takes you to get 15 kills in a 19 round game or something.

A counter is going to help, as well.

*$500,000. But ya, I could see something like that happening.

If that's real, wow, um, those are a bit easier than the original Gears. That looks like a couple days worth of playing.

Nice job of them being to lazy to change some of the achievement names from the first game too.

I dunno, this list seems more enjoyable (if legit). I don't really like sculpting the way I play just so that I inch towards an achievement.

For instance, in gears 1, I had to forcefully use pistols to get the Pistolero achievement.

However, didn't Cliffy say something like there will be only 1 kill towards weapon specific achievements per round or something? In that list there really are no weapon specific ones... unless im misquoting cliffy.
