Official Gears of War 2 Discussion Thread

Just got my Limited Edition from Amazon and the game is scratched to shit!! Anyone else have this problem? I've been too busy doing other things to keep up. I will send it back to Amazon for a replacement.
 
A few questions for you guys:

When someone picks up another player as a meatshield...is there anyway to harm him?
If you are the meat-shield, anyway to get out of it?
Chainsaw duels, does the person who taps "B" faster really win? My thumbs hurt so much from trying that last night...lost ever duel.

Yes, the meatshield deteriorates with every shot you put in him. If you hit him with a torque/boom, the shield will be gone right away.

Once you get picked up as a meatshield, you're dead. It's not you anymore.

Chainsaw duels, whoever hits B faster, yes.
 
What characters unlock? I have some available but i'm not sure if i have the ones from original gow

Minh (the guy in my avatar), the original (Anthony) Carmine and Raam are unlocked if any profile on your HDD, not just your XBL profile, has found 10 COG tags, beat Raam on Hardcore, and completed Act 1 in the original Gears game. Basically, if you beated the original on Hardcore you should have all three unlocked right away unless you worked very hard at ignoring the glowing COG tags.
 
I was able to beat the campaign with no problems. It just started it like 2 days ago. My 360 said the disc was unreadable when I started it up, and suddenly did it when I was playing online. I tested over games, and they didn't do it. I assume it was the 360,but maybe it is the disc. I really enjoyed the game way to much. I beat the campaign, and want to play though it again. I also play it online every night. First game in a long time I've bought for retail, and think it was worth it.
 
is there a CAG group for this yet? I've been playing with Scobie, Kendal, And Groundhog recently, a couple others from here too. I looked at the front of this thread and the gaming groups thread and didn't see a mention for GOW2 group.

Thank you. So does hitting the meatshield on the head make him fall/oblierate faster?

Also...Wingman is awesome...played like 3 hours of it straight last night.

He also did the soundtrack for Steamboy and The Island. I'm sure most of you have heard of a specific Island track that has been used in a ton of commercials. It's the track that played during the escape.
 
I finished Campaign with my brother on Hardcore. Not that hard, but then again, in the first Gears I only played through Insane. Still, for a difficulty named hardcore, it felt a bit easier than it should have been.

And you got to be kidding me about the ending. I know they had a bunch of cool bosses throughout the campaign and riding a Brumak, but seriously, a few seconds of the hammer of dawn on the Brumak as the finale of the game? Baaahh, lame. Expected the Queen. Interesting thing about Adam Fenix at the end though.

Horde mode wastes so much time, I'm not sure if I can play it again.. haha.
 
Just finished the part where you
find Maria
. I'm so glad they added a human touch to this game. It really adds to the experience and makes you more attached to all the characters.
 
To anyone who hasnt read the book, if you do it will greatly increase your enjoyment of the story.

Anyways, if anyone wants to go through Horde 37-50 add me on XBL my gt is genfuyung. Its hard to get people who communicate.

Ok so I called Amazon and talked to some Indian dude who I couldn't understand. After telling him what's up and confirming that I bought the Gears 2 LE game for 75 bucks he told me they'd send me a replacement but oh the item is out of stock. Seriously all I need is the game disc as I tried the bonus features disc and it worked no problem but the manager said they couldn't send me a different product, it has to be the same thing. Man, can you believe this crap waiting till now to finally get the game and then it doesn't work 100% (seems I can do local multiplayer with bots/online multiplayer but my internet connection isn't good enough for live). At least I haggled two day free shipping out of the deal though.;)

UPDATE! Apparently unplugging your Ethernet cable so you are disconnected from live allows you to start the campaign. Weird?!

in campaign yet? I think I passed it, don't know the specific location of it.
 
The online is still 100% broken in this game. Why wont it just continue playing instead of going back to square one? Until they fix this, the online is 100% worthless. Awful since it plays great online, i just dont want to restart the entire process after every match.

The problem isnt starting "the whole process" over, its when your solo the ammount of time it takes to find a room.

Ive honestly had to wait 10-15 minutes just to have it say the connection was reset by remote parties. Its getting old.

I havent had any trouble finding wingman matches. Havent tried anything else lately.

No other game lets you stay in a ranked match more than once with the other team so....
 
So.. how do you exactly know when someone's host? I recently joined a game where I was the only person lagging and a lot of people accused me of being host. I finished the game 17/2, had two chainsaw fights won, but the majority of my kills came from tagging frag nades to the wall. I don't know why I was the only one lagging.

Also the wait time to join a game is become faster now. Maybe it's just my luck. =p
 
Do you guys have any tips for chainsaw battles? It seems as if I am hitting the button as fast as humanly possible but still losing. What are the factors in them? How fast the button is pressed or who presses it first? Maybe a combination of both. Although Im not paying attention to the screen during the battles, somebody on my friends list said that there is always one that is on top pushing down on the other. Is this true or are both of the chainsaws at equal height?
 
*sigh* Honestly, it takes too damn long to get into a ranked match alone. I've been trying to get matched for, literally, 15 minutes and still no luck. Too much waiting.
