Official Gears of War 2 Discussion Thread
If anyone wants in on Horde at Level 32 FR me
I still need to do 40-50. If you'll stay through till the end, I'll play from 32. That goes for everyone. If you help me with the last 10 levels, I'll help with an equal number if you need it. I really want this achievement, but my friends are always playing when I'm not around, or the group is full. We need at least 4 people for those high levels.
Wingman is by far the best playlist.
Ahaha, you're crazy. Wingman sucks. Winning relies completely on where you spawn on the map and if you have host.

Wingman is indeed garbage. I dont think host has anything to do with it though. Either way I just need one more win and then I never have to play it again.
if someone got the golden lancer/hammerburst, could you recover their account and get it for yourself too?
Nope, consider it the same as an XBL game.

If you can't get it to load at a certain point, try loading the previous chapter/starting from the beginning of your current chapter. You shouldn't have to restart your whole campaign.

Tried that, it didn't work. But luckily after some googling I found this thread and followed the advice to unplug everything. It's working now. Crisis averted. :D
WTF! I can't get campaign to load. I'm going to freak out if I have to restart my solo insane campaign.
You can try this:

Q: Campaign start issues – When I select a new campaign, then select a difficulty, the game makes a noise like it’s being selected, but the campaign doesn’t start.
A: If you’re having this issue, try setting your game to “Local” in the campaign lobby. This should fix any issues you’re experiencing. Follow these steps to set your game to Local:

1. Launch Gears of War 2
2. If you haven’t already, sign into your profile
3. Select “Co-op Campaign” (don’t worry, you can still opt for a Single Player match)
4. Select “Host Co-op Campaign”
5. Select a save slot
6. In the Campaign Lobby, set Co-op Mode to “System Link”
7. Select your Act, Chapter and Checkpoint
8. Press the START button to launch the campaign

Man am I awful at Horde, just tried for the first time and gave up after Wave 7. Was quite fun though, sure it's even better with other people.

Ok now I can finally join the rest of you saying that matchmaking is fubar.

Just tried to get into matches for about 90 minutes and only got to play four times. Tried every playlist. It finds teamates quickly, but almost never finds an opposing team.
Wingman with a friend in your party = money
Exactly. I mean, the point about spawns being a major factor is valid, but there are 5 teams, and all are rushing the power weapon of the map, so the carnage will make the area around the power weapon a hostile area, so it isn't that big of a factor.

I do have a problem with the sniper spawn on gridlock though, because you get 2 teams spawning next to you.

This might be old news, but oh well.

So some people on the Epic forums seem to have discovered how the ranking system works.

First and foremost, it appears that the quickest way to rank up is to play ALL game types equally.

For example: if you only play Execution, you will get to rank 2 pretty quick, but rank 3 will take a lot longer to get to than if you played some other game types.

So, if you want to rank up quickly, go look at your total points for each match type and play the ones you have least in.

Also, both winning and losing counts. Losing too much will make you lose rank. But I think everyone knew that.
Without spoiling anything, can someone tell me how many chapters are in act 5? Is it really short like the first game?
3? 4 maybe?

I don't remember exactly, but it was pretty short.

Yeah, Horde is definitely not meant to be played alone. You need at least 3 people, preferably more unless you want to play on Casual which isn't much fun.

Spend 2 hours or more playing today, played in less then 10 matches and I believe 5 straight losses came from someone leaving during the 1st round or sooner. Soon as I won I quit to go out on a good note, matchmaking needs to get fixed
Question about Horde - Is it possible to save your progress?
It auto saves. If you ever host a horde match you can only select to start from the last wave you played. You can skip around and it will still save.
Quick LE question. Does the photo of Dom and Maria come inside the sealed art book?
Yes and the face in the picture looks like olivia munn

Very Nice! I would like to make love explosions on her face.

Sorry for the Borat. I know its not cool, but sometimes I cannot resist.

That is definitely true... matchmaking needs to be patched up big time. Every time I join a match some people always leave and were down to 3 vs 5, we get hammered. Same as being laggy. Earlier today it was very laggy

From what I heard off the Gears of War 2 forums they said that there will be a patch coming as soon as Friday this week

Man WTF it won't give me the Kick 'Em While They're Down Achievement!

I've done all the executions and even checked online to see if I missed any and nope, did them all.

fucking lame.

make sure your pressing the Y button for all of them. Thats what fucked me up. Also dont forget the boomSHIELD execution.
I'm going off this list and video here:

http://www.xbox360cheats.com/Gears_of_War_2/Easy_Kick_em_when_theyre_Down_Achievement
If you check your achievements from the ingame menu and it says they are all done then its a glitch. If not then your just missing one. I used this list here

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=100633

Just scroll down to the description for the execution achievement. Start up a 2 player local game and swap the weapons to get the ones you need.

On a side note my game has been searching for an opposing team of similar skill for TEN fucking MINUTES

Done achievement whoring for the day, finally got the 50 waves of Horde achievement and multiple weapon ones.

So far, I've got 32 out of 41 collectibles, 5/9 in Act 4 and 0/5 in Act 5.

I read the Parting Gift Achievement wrong...I thought it meant you would kill your enemies while THEY were down but not out, not when you're on your knees. That'll be a tough one.

Was it just me, or was
the final boss fight totally lame?

I mean, come on...all you did was hold the Hammer of Dawn on him. What the hell?

Also, did anybody listen to the message after the credits?

I'm still not quite sure how to do that one.

Finding a deal on the Limited Edition is nigh impossible right now, especially if you want it complete. Almost every copy of eBay is selling it codeless, as they probably already sold the Gold Lancer code separately.

Consider that act a bonus. The boss fight of Act 4 is like the final boss.

You have to be holding grenades when you get downed. Press the RT and you'll drop a nade.
