[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: chttp://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way).

Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

So I was at Kmart yesterday and picked up a few games. When I got home, I noticed they had failed to scan one. Rather than thinking "oh, freebie!", I went back today to pay for the game. I spoke with two cashiers, the service desk rep, and a manager and all four of them told me that they couldn't charge me for the game without the barcode and as they have no others in stock, I'm "out of luck" as the manager put it.

Other than that, picked up 2x memory card adapters for other CAGs (still sitting at $7, but they've got three left), a copy of Viewtiful Joe PS2 for $1 (IT FINALLY DROPPED!), and Capcom Fighting Evolution for $6.

I sure hope you had recently bought EBA there and used that receipt to return the copy you got from KMart to Best Buy.

There was a story behind this
I originally just went there just to pick up a memory card and saw that the game case was completely cleaned up and all clearance was priced accordingly.
So I find the HDDVD drive!
When I went last week I asked if they had any and was told no, so I was really surprised!!
I asked the lady if I could get a price check on it, and before I finished she said, "$25"
I kindly asked her to check anyways because I stated I thought it was $12.
She scoffed at me, pulled it out and rung it up.
Guess what? $12!!!
She was speechless >:D
Next I asked her to ring up the Memory card.
She replied in a very disgruntled manner, "$30!!!"
I said "$7"
She plain out told me she wouldn't pull it out but my dad (who was also there) made her.
She rang that up as well and it ended up being $7

Her:I am the department manager and just priced these last week!!! How could you have known these were these prices before me!!!!

While most of the time I agree, I think that most of the folks (not you necessarily, but I'm sure there are some here on CAG) that complain about this would do the same as the employee. I mean, the price is right there in plain sight - why would you need to take it out to price check it for a customer?

When I see something pre-marked and I want to get it scanned and can not do it myself I ask them to do a price check nicely. I usually ask them if the prices on the games in the case are all up to date and if they reply with yes I get the vibe that maybe they are or they dont want to open up to check, if they reply with something like"they should be" or something like im not sure then I ask them nicely if they can check the price on it because the game has been out for a long time. They usually will check them for me and I always say "thank you".. im lucky because one if the Kmarts I go to has an older women working in the electronics area and she is usually bored to death seeing no one shops at this place and is more then happy to check and have someone to talk to for a few minutes..

It usually seems like the younger the employee's are the less they are willing to go the extra mile for the customer. I had a guy at Sears one time get pissy with me because he asked if I needed help and I said no im just looking and he saw me taking games up the self scanners and even though he watched me put them back where I got them not just toss them somewhere like some people. He got all huffy and said the prices marked are all current there is no need to carry items away from the dept when everything is marked the prices and if you still need something checked you have to get them checked by an associate :roll:

Some people's kids but im sure it gets annoying finding piles of random stuff everywhere because people take them off to scan them and just lay them down anywhere or go destroy the racks you just spent 30mins on making everthing look nice...

I could never work retail or I would bust some heads

Why don't you guys just print out UPC's of items you are interested in and take them to the price check machines? That way you don't have to deal with the employess. I always do that ever since I ran into the same situation of them not wanting to do price checks.
 
I love CAG!!!

Went to K-Mart today to see if I can score a XBox Live Vision Gold after printing out the UPC. Used the print to check the prices and it was $20 as previous mentioned in earlier posts (although another K-Mart I went to still scanned the $79.99 price). Walked over to electronics and saw they had 2 boxes, both marked $79.99. I picked up both of them and paid $40 plus tax. Such a sweet deal. They did need to be activated by the end of next month but that's not going to be a problem.

Also picked up LOTR II for $4.97 a few days ago...

How do you print out UPCs for items? Link?
 
go to half.com, type in the game name to get the UPC (it's listed on the item page), go to UPCdatabase.com to enter it, copy and paste the code into a word processor and print the page with your barcodes.

Went to K-Mart today to see if I can score a XBox Live Vision Gold after printing out the UPC. Used the print to check the prices and it was $20 as previous mentioned in earlier posts (although another K-Mart I went to still scanned the $79.99 price). Walked over to electronics and saw they had 2 boxes, both marked $79.99. I picked up both of them and paid $40 plus tax. Such a sweet deal. They did need to be activated by the end of next month but that's not going to be a problem.

Because these dumb fuck's don't realize the prices on things fluctuate, and if they did their job correctly, these things would be priced correctly.

I managed the electronics dept at K-Mart for about 6 months, and I know why none of these employees reprice these things - because the list is usually 4 or 5 pages long, they don't want to be bothered looking for half these games in their shitty display cases, so they just throw the list out and not even bother with it.

I made sure everything had the correct price every week a new clearance price drop list originated at my store... and yea, it was time consuming, but I didn't have to price check anything because it was *always* the right price to begin with.

And besides, it was my job to price check something if a customer wanted me to... I really hate the employees who get snippy, when they are doing nothing else except sitting in electronics or talking to their friends. If you don't want to do what the customer asks in a retail environment, no matter how silly it is, just get a new job. The greatest joy I have in being a CAG is finding an employee who fights me tooth and nail on a price check, and that it comes being waaaaaay cheaper than they kept saying, and they apologize about 5 times for it.

Or, try this: Simply tell them you want to buy the game, and if it's not the price you want it for, tell them you changed your mind and walk away. They'll have to get a manager to void out the sale, but oh well, it would have been a lot easier to just price check it. As you can see, lazy employees are my biggest pet peeve, I always told my staff to be as nice as they could to customers because without them, no matter how shitty they were, we wouldn't have a job.

Ironically, I got laid off because the store's budget was shitty and they had to let one of the managers go... and since I was only there for six months, as opposed to everyone else being there for years, I was the one to go.
 
Went to Kmart today and picked up the Blue 360 controller for $12. I also got Pokemon Trozei and Contact for $4.97 each. I already have Contact so I'll probably sell it.
 
Man, I should have been paying more attention to this thread recently. Blue 360 controllers for $12? Games for $4.97 that last I knew were $16? Whaaa? I guess I need to go into a Kmart some time soon ;).

There's two numbers missing on that UPC#, since UPC's are 12 numbers long, not 10.

Oh and btw, if you guys don't see an item in your local Kmarts electronics section and want to find a certain item, go to the customer service desk and if the people working there aren't total douches or 'too busy'(like the one girl who works the one up the road from me, always yapping with friends on company time), they can do a district wide search on their computers for the item you're looking for and at what price each store has it at.

Of course, you may alert someone who might hoard all of those items by doing so, but with the cost of gas it's easier and more cost efficient than running around and not finding shit in your travels.

I know. I read the OP. It seems like when I first joined and was checking out the K-mart thread, the drops were very inconsistent and slow. However, it seemed like when batch of games dropped to 12.97 and 9.97, everyone was having success finding those.
That's all I was asking. If this last drop was nearly as instantenous as it was before. At any rate, I got the Halo controller, wireless headset, and 2x (one for a friend) of the Xbox Live card and camera bundle.

earlier this week i got ace combat advance (gba) $3 and VJ red hot rumble (GC) $1 from kmart. The guy gave me $8 for VJ and $7 for ace combat...lol, i love that place.

I bought them anyway, since it's still a good deal, but does this mean they just didn't print the $20 barcode stickers? Seems to me like it's definitely YMMV, unless they are obligated to print out some new stickers, in which case I'm taking mine back and rebuying after I request a price update. Just curious if anyone has any experience there. I appreciate Roufuss's post on this page regarding his experience, but have any of you actually gone back to get the right price?

Incidentally, this Kmart also had the 3 month Live packs with 100 points and a headset marked $15. Just wondering if any of you have gotten those for any less.

Possible theory: in the event that they eventually disable Live or change the code system, no one can come back at them saying they should be able to use a card they bought at launch and never used.

Typically, they don't need to put new UPC stickers on the items to get the drops to take effect, so the new prices SHOULD be in effect as soon as they do the updates.

Of course, if you bought all of the Vision bundles they had in stock, then the update may never take effect since there's nothing TO update in that case.

If it comes down to it, I'd return two of those packs and keep one, then check back every so often until the update DOES take effect. Use UPCdatabase to make a UPC to price check at the in store scanners by writing down the numbers from the bundle pack and inputting them on UPCDatabase.

In this way, you'll keep the remaining bundle you keep intact, so you can return it when you go in to rebuy the other two bundles once the $20 price hits. Then, you just have to wait until the third bundle hits electronics to rebuy that at the lower price.

In the end, you'll have 3 of them for half of what you paid now. As far as I know though, they DO NOT price match or do refunds on the difference on clearance items. The return/rebuy method is the ONLY way most times for Kmart clearance.

Thanks for the tip, IATCG! What it basically comes down to is a risk-reward system, I guess. I'm going to see what they say when I tell them their clearance price was wrong. If they say, "So?" and don't help, I'll follow your suggestion and see what happens. If the bundles are still there by the time the price drops, I'll update.

One other quick question to anyone who knows---do the PLC updates go out to all stores at the same time, and some of them simply choose to ignore to run them, or do they roll out differently based on regions?
 
There's actually a 51" Magnavox Plasma TV that's on clearance too.

I've seen it for as low as $630, before it disappeared from one of my closest Kmarts.

It was $999.99.

Yeah, same here. The only hope i'm holding onto now is that no one shops at Kmart. I was still able to find some deals despite things clearly marked.

Any idea what the model number of that is? Doesn't look like Philip-Magnavox makes a 51" plasma. Plenty of 50" plasmas and a 51" projection HDTV, but no 51" plasma.

When I bought mine on Tuesday night, same thing: $40. There were two of them though and I only bought one, so hopefully the price will get updated and I'll be able to return/rebuy or adjust (or maybe get the other one I left). I'm thinking about checking tonight, hoping that maybe they've dropped the price already.

My problem is that I could only find one price checker in the whole store and it wasn't working. I guess I'll actually have to ask for a price check *shiver*.

The Live Kits were $15. Based on everything else dropping 50%, I was hoping to see them drop to $7.50.

I think PLCs go out to all stores at the same time. It's employees that determine when they go into effect.

Damn unhappy employees ... foiling my attempts to be cheap.

My Kmart had almost nothing else from the clearance lists, so I'm a bit nervous to return them and wait for a drop. Doubt they'll still be there, since the $40 yellow stickers are pretty noticeable. Decisions, decisions.

Haha. I'm actually exaggerating just a little. I actually did sweet-talk her into letting me price check a few of the DS games that were sitting on the clearance shelves. The stuff from the glass case, though, she wouldn't even let me touch. Pretty funny.

$40 is still crazy cheap for the vision kits (especially considering $12 tiv for camera @ EBStop, $4 for headset +10% with edge card), so I think I may actually just hold onto those, since I can't lose money, and hold out and see what happens with the 3 monthers. I can't even believe our KMart is still open, so I don't have much faith in them updating prices anytime soon.
 
For anyone that has a store that has the new lower prices, did the $1.00 games go out of the system and come up as check shelf price?

It's so fusturating with check shelf price, I saw a list on Slickdeals with items at 90% off (not games), I found a lot of them and they all came up check shelf price. I tried to get them at 90% off, they wanted to sell them to me for around 40% off.

Picked up the 360 hd dvd add on with king kong for $12. I asked the lady working to see if they had one in the back. She brought it out with the $199.99 sticker still on it. We joked around at the clearance price.

Not sure if it had been $1, but Gunstar Super Heroes rang up this way. The tag was $19.99, so the guy gave it to me for $2 (90% off).
 
Saw some things in a K-Mart today and wanted to check if they dropped, but after waiting almost 20 minutes for an electronics associate, even after being paged twice, I just got fed up and left =/
