[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: chttp://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way).

Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

Haven't seen this mentioned yet, but I picked up Contra 4 for the Nintendo DS at $4.97 today. If it's been mentioned previously, mea culpa, but hey: it never hurts.
 
If anyone is looking for 1GB flash drives, Kmart marked down the 3 pack(3GB's total) of PNY Attache drives to $7 this month.

I picked up a pack of them when I picked up two of the three HDMI/USB packs for the PS3 that they had at a local store by me.

Not a bad deal, if you ask me, it's like paying $2.33 each for them. Now, I just need to find a use for them and the HDMI/USB cable packs, though one is already spoken for for another CAG.

Thx! was soo pissed that one was gone from our local Kmart. I'm pretty sure that hdmi cable is 1.3, my old one is 1.2. i feel bad for the people that actually spend $80. If more people only knew the truth about hdmi cables... :roll:

This happened to me at K-Mart too. I took my receipt and the game case and asked for either a refund or to replace the game. They wrote it down as a "mfg defect" and gave me my money back. It was only $5 so that's prob why they didn't care. However, I think the CSR is the key. Get a nice one and be nice about it. If it doesn't work for one, come back the next shift.

Yeah, a barcode sheet is different than barcode labels. :) What an idiot... greedy idiot. Not that I condone his actions but he should have shaved off a little $ instead of $330 worth! Helloooooo! And on top of that, he admitted to 300+ past occurances. Duh. Play dumb dude. Innocent until PROVEN guilty. Oh well. Damn theif should have his hands cut off.

So...I'm not sure what this has to do with scanning a sheet of UPCs at a store. The guy was changing UPCs, not doing a price check. Not trying to be a dick, as it's kinda relevant in the realm of scrutiny, but unless you're changing UPCs, basically fraud, no one should have any problems.

I don't know about you, but I have gotten 'looks' from employees when I would pull out a UPC sheet.

Couple that with the typical K-Mart employee attitude of: 'The price is whatever is on the sticker', and it could end in a situation.

I haven't, but I still find a scanner that no one's around when I've used a UPC sheet. No matter how you look at it, it's out of the norm and I see no need to alert people's suspicions, even if I'm not doing anything wrong.

Again, I don't have a problem at my local store b/c I go to the only working scanner in the middle of the bed sheets dept. It is secluded and gives me plenty of "cover" (RamHawk hears a drum rim-shot - pun intended). :applause: :applause::applause: The electronics dept is right next to the main door to the back area and break room. I see plenty of people going back there but never coming out.

I usually cut my UPC's and carry them individually in my wallet, I don't make a sheet out of them.

I saw metal slug DS at my Kmart priced at 10$, dunno what the real price is as I didn't have a UPC printed, it was locked in the case.

Looks like some toys dropped as there was a fresh supply of digimon figures put out for 2$ and 3$ (unmarked) and I saw some of the large pokemon plushies in the package for 6$ each (but not marked correctly), if they go cheaper I will buy instantly because they are cute. I have no idea where the digimon figures came from but I am guessing they were pulled from the back room to fill in somewhat empty toy shelves. They had buneary and wobuffet. Good deal anyways because the smaller plushies cost the same or more as the large ones in the package now.

Oh yeah 2 more things, they had an Xbox 360 live camera for 20$ (tag clearance price) and a Wii steering wheel for 14$ (tag clearance price) so these might be things to watch for in the future for further discounts.

Now, I could see this as being "dangerous". If they saw you with a cut-out UPC barcode then I can see an over-zellous employee thinking you were gonna stick it to a package. Yes, it is only paper but....
 
Completely unrelated to the national clearance, but the Kmart Southside in St. Petersburg, FL on US19 has most games for 60-70% off. Picked up for the 360: Scene It, Fuzion Frenzy 2, NHL 08, Viva Pinata, and Rock Revolution for $35.

Kmart also has some 'HDtv starter kit' on clearance, but I didn't note the price while I was at the store I got the HDMI/USB packs from. It also included an HDMI cable and some other stuff for 'new HDtv owners'.

If I think about it, I may go back and snag the last of the three packs there this weekend sometime, since I think my one buddies' sister and brother-in-law might want the one pack from me for their PS3. They've tried numerous HDMI cables though and they always end up failing for some reason.:roll:

I don't know why and I really don't care, but if they can use it, I'll go back and grab that for them.

Is it a closing store? One store about 25 minutes from me is closing, but games were only 50% off. What sucks is that the latest clearance prices weren't up to date so a game that is $4.99 at regular KMarts was the same $4.99 after the 50% off.

I did get Rockband 2 game only for PS2 for $25.

I remember reading a local article a while back where a woman tried to purchase tvs at a self checkout with replaced barcodes too. The thing is, those things actually weight your item when you're suppose to place it in the bagging area, so I beleive thats how she was caught.
 
part of the blame for this problem as a whole has to go on the stores in my opinion for using barcode stickers on the outside of the plastic wrap. i'm not sure if that is what the guy in the article did, but i know kmart will sometimes generate a barcode sticker for a new price instead of changing the original price in the system. if someone was to exploit this, yeah they are a criminal, but the store is also incredibly stupid for creating the opportunity in the first place.

Even though they generate a new sticker (with the new price) it still matches the barcode on the product.
 
Kmart frequently leaves the hand held scanners just laying there, if you worked at a store before and knew the procedure for working them then potentially you could cause a lot of damage! Also the scanners are the same ones they were using at least 10 years ago, so you have a long time span there, and we all know that the turnover rate of retail employees is high. If there are passwords involved I bet they don't change them either since none of these stores think about security in that way. I can't count the times I have just seen the scanner sitting there on some shelf in some department. Heck someone probably has directions on how to work those scanners posted on the internet somewhere..

I haven't checked the OP recently, but I found one of the Optical Digital cables for the PS2/PS3 yesterday at an out of the way Kmart for $3. I picked it up, since I'm planning on hooking up my PS3 to my LCD monitor from my PC and unfortunately it doesn't have speakers, so I'm gonna need a sound source.

I also picked up the last HDMI/USB pack at the Kmart I hit the other day.

But at the Kmart I hit for the Optical Digital cable, I found 4 of those Nyko Zero Wireless controllers. Unfortunately, they came up OUT OF THE SYSTEM and the manager said they HAVE to send them back. They were marked $24, if that's any indication of how long they sat there without having their signs updated.

Both the optical digital cable and a DualShock 3 appeared to be resealed and I noticed that the DS 3 package actually had a SixAxis packed in it. Apparently, someone pulled the old switcheroo to get a DS 3. I pointed it out to the manager to try and be nice and maybe get him to bend the rules and lemme grab ONE Nyko controller, but to no avail.

Non game related clearance item that I saw, before I forget......

They had a boombox called the "Stream" for use with Sirius Satellite radio receivers. It was down to 90% off and clearly marked @ $9.

Decent sized radio for the money too.

Question for Kaydigi:

I have been turned down by the store managers several times on games that were "OUT OF THE SYSTEM". Is there any place where we can print out something official stating your comment above? If they give us a hard time and we show them proof of store policy it would seal the deal for us. Is it possible that some store managers don't know they have to sell the item for the last stickered price? If we tell them what you said they might question our source and become suspicious but something official and printed out should work. Thanks for all you do for us and hope you have a very enjoyable Memorial day.
 
I remember finding a whole pile (around 20 games) last year at one of my KMART stores. It took quite a while to find them all in the messy display cases. When the employee price checked them they all came up "OUT OF SYSTEM". He said they have to send them back to the manufacturer. I asked for a store manager and told the manager all my work in finding the games and asked him if he would sell them to me at the last stickered price or at a price he thought was fair. He would'nt budge and said they had to send them back. I filed a complaint with corporate against him but they wouldn't fix the problem. I was so ticked off because it doesn't seem right that they can leave the games in the cases but then not sell them to you. The customer should not have to suffer for the stores mistakes.
 
The store gets in trouble if they sell POI (out of system) merchandise. If you're going to put that much effort into getting something cheap, you have too much time on your hands or are just well beyond CAG territory and are a certified asshole. If they don't sell it to you, don't throw a 12 year old-ish tantrum, just let it go and move on.

Seriously, am I the only one who sees the lunacy in a customer getting mad because they won't sell you something for a penny (or under $5)?

I don't think it is unreasonable for me to be upset. If their store policy is not to sell OOS games then they should do a better job of removing those games from the display cases or go the extra mile for the customer who put in their time to find those games. According to Kaydigi's last post they need to offer the customer the opportunity to purchase at the last stickered price. I asked Kaydigi what the written store policy is; let's wait until she responds before making statements like asshole which in itself is a very immature way to speak about fellow board members. I'm interested to get other members viewpoint on this subject.

I've been told repeatedly that they have to send things back once they come up 'price required' or 'check shelf label' and far be it from me to want to get someone in trouble JUST so I can get a deal.

Now, if those same controllers are there the next time I visit that Kmart and there's a different clerk working, I may try for them again. But if they're gone, then no big loss.

I only really wanted them mainly for myself and for friends who couldn't find them when they disappeared from our closest Kmart.

The same store that I bought the $3 optical digital cable from, but was denied on the controllers, HAS actually marked stuff to 90% off that was OOS before.

But like I said, it was no big loss, since I still have my DS3 and my SixAxis controllers for my PS3.

I see nothing wrong in what he asked for, he even said he'd purchase it for whatever he thought was reasonable. Its more trouble to ship it back then actually letting a customer taking it home. That is exactly why stores use markdown for, so they can let customers take it home instead of sending back merchandise. I don't think anything he did called for being called a certified asshole or throwing a 12 year old-ish trantrum.

I would have to speak to the PLC manager on Tuesday to make sure this is a corp policy.. There wont be a salaried manager when i'm there tomorrow. I'll find out if it's just our store policy (which I doubt, 'cause they only follow Kmarts Corp rules).

Basically, if an item comes up check shelf pricing, you are suppose to let the customer buy it and then go pull the rest of them off the shelf. Now if a stickered price can't be found, we can't sell it.

I personally (if I know the approximnate price, just put under a March of Dimes donation (or whatever they are pushing). This is just something our Store Manager does.

Employees can not buy pennied out items for the last stickered price of for 1 cent. That's a fireable offense.

Basically what I typed above is the reason that we are suppose to sell the pennied out items for the last stickered price. The only thing I can tell you if this happens is to ask for the disctrict manager. He/She may be an asshole though and may not correct the problem. If your Kmart is really clean and bright then you may have a good chance of getting your stuff.

There were more electronics clearance but no media (games etc...). I have regular MSRP drops for games, will post it in bit.

Something was really off with the drops though. Some clearance items, note clearance jumped up in price across the store. They weren't clearance going back to regular stock. Maybe there is a clearance sale coming up.
 
Kmart is supposed to follow weights and measures guidelines.. i do logistics and stock at nordstrom and if a customer finds a pennied item on the floor, we have to sell it to them for the penny, or we can be fined..
just like what was said above, we are supposed to sell it and then pull the rest of the pennied stock off the floor.. and its not like the store doesnt know they havent pulled pennied stock, its either they are lazy and didnt pull it or the stock person missed a few while pulling some of them.. most stores use these inventory sheets daily with inbound and outbound (return to vendors, recall, salvage).

Dont feel bad, iv'e noticed there are people here who, basically get off on being unhelpfull and complete dicks. Him being one of them, btw thanks for the usefull info kaydigi.
But whats this i hear about them having to sell it to you for a penny? Can we get a definitive answer on this?

Hey now. I am not a completely unhelpful dick. I helped out a new PS3 owner at the DC store tonight. They picked up a sealed Optical Digital Cable after I picked up the other one they had for $3.

I also got into a conversation with them about grabbing PS3 games from there for $5-6 and may have mentioned CAG to them. I just wish I found this site ALOT sooner than I did, since I could've saved THOUSANDS versus what I paid. They just seemed frustrated with having to pay MSRP for everything, so I figured I'd let them in on how I knew the cable would be $3.

But if the thing about them HAVING to sell pennied stuff for .01 or the last reported price is true, I'm making a run back to the store I saw some Nyko Zero controllers at this weekend and hoping they didn't stash them in the back.

I'll try to get you wording from corporate and the PLC manager. It's suppose to be last stickerd price for pennied out items. If it doesn't have a price on the hook, shelf, or item itself it cannot be sold.

I've seen the people that work in 605 (returning pennied & and defective items out to genco) not sweat if they can't find the pennied items out in the store. They just cross it off their list and move on.

Talking about buying pennied items at the last stickered price. An employee will get in trouble for selling the item for a penny. They will not get in trouble for selling it for the last stickered price though.
