[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: chttp://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way).

Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

I'm about to go to the Kmart that told me returns had to be within 30 days to return stuff that has been 80+ days (but still within the return period mentioned on the receipt). Wish me luck. I have to do it now as I'm going out of town this week and I forgot the stuff earlier today when I was by the other Kmart. My only choice now is to go to the one that doesn't know their own policy. This time hopefully I'll get someone else and failing that I'll ask to talk to the store manager and have him explain how the 30 day limit for air conditioners and gas-powered appliances applies to video games.
 
I am yet to find any good clearance deal at any store (KMart, walmart, target, TRU etc.) It sucks I see like 20 games id get in all these threads and when i get to the stores the clearance deals are horrendous!
 
Three Kmarts in the area only have shovelware DS and GBA games and absolutely no GC/Xox games, along with only a handful of PS2 games.
 
Well, the person who hassled me last time about it being over 30 days wasn't there. The funny thing is one of the "yes-men" (who agreed with her about the 30 day policy) was running the CSR desk and she returned my games from April no problem (I was about 4 days from the final 90-day return date so it shouldn't have been a problem anyway).

Then I went to Electronics and found a couple of Karaoke Rev Encore 2 bundles for $10 so that definitely made the trip worthwhile (just doing the returns was kind of a waste by itself).
 
I've been looking for DDR 360 bundles for awhile with no luck but I found two Universe 3's ($13) yesterday at a farther out Kmart and snagged them up. They also had GH: Aerosmith for $9 and GHIII for $12.
 
Will the HDMI & USB cable pack drop to $4? Asking cause I picked up a couple for $8 to give as gifts and waiting to see if I should pick up more.
 
are those intercoolers worth it now? i remember having the original ones and people advising agaisnt using them? are the latest versions good? the black one would go great with my elite

I've been watching this Transfomers Animated Optimus Prime with a tag that said $29 in the toys isle. It was slowly going down in price every 2 weeks.
It rang up as $14.50, and there was a tag in the clearance isle that said take an additional 50% off price. So I thought it should have been $7.50
I told the people at the counter about it, and they said that $14.50 is the 50% extra off.

I don't know who was at fault, but I went back and got a Darth Maul Mighty Mugg for $5.

So by you CAGs opinion's who was wrong me or them?

Sounds like you. "50% off price" usually refers to a tagged price, not a scanned price. Scanned price is usually "law", so to speak. Sorry!

That would be kind of true if the sign hadn't said "additional". That word implies manual override to apply the additional discount. I would have asked for a manager.

Yesterday I got told new games had to be within the week I bought them or they may not be in the system. It was weird, since I wasn't even over 30 days. The lady acted like I was committing a sin, and all she did was tap the register 3 times and counted my money. I don't think I'm ever coming back to that Kmart again. They really look shady and the employees are way too damn lazy.

Also they were checking the shrinkwrap so carefully. Seems like theyve had recent run ins with people slitting the boxes and stealing the discs. I guess maybe thats why the lady was giving me looks.

Yes, additional *over* the *tagged price*. If I were the manager in this case, I'd be denying it. When the thing is scanned, the clearance price is correct, then. There's really nothing to complain about here. Never hurts to ask, of course, but when I look at it, I see the 50% already applied correctly.

If not, then it's not that they're being unreasonable...they've offered exactly what the sign says.

That they never update the tags is inconsequential, here. I understand your point, but it's still not relevant as to whether they're giving what the posted sign says. They are...you just aren't crazy about it.

Nonsense. "Additional" has nothing to do with the tag, it has to do with the scanned price. The item was scanning at the same price BEFORE the sale. What part of ADDITIONAL do you (and KMart, obviously) not understand?

This all sounds like wishful thinking. It's a real tough argument to suggest that the sign means that cashiers need to do manual overrides (on items that already ring up 50% of the marked price).
 
I bought some of the clearance toys at Kmart with the additional 50% off. All of them rang up at 50% off of the lowest stickered price (or more in one case). Sometimes their system gets updated, but no one bothers to retag the items.

Normal employees don't give a crap about clearance prices anyhow.
But to add to this there were Pokemon plushies marked $18 that rang up $3. Thats not 50%

Edit: @Pulsar: The cashier had 2 different employees (idk if they were managers, but they were young) come up and tell me the same thing, and neither one of them were willing to look back at the toy section.

@Salty tbone: thats what they did for me when I got a Spiderman Mighty Mugg for $4 there a couple of months back. Only difference is that they actually went back and read what the tag on the shelf said. Which was "take an ADDITIONAL 50% all clearence toys".

Nope, 90% off of $79.99 (original price) is $8 so these things are going to penny out eventually.

Thanks for the heads up about the G1 Megatron kaydigi, though I'm sure they're gone from my local stores by now. I never had either Megatron or Optimus Prime as a kid and I'd love to grab one just for the sake of having it.

As for the hoarder, I admit that I've done a little bit of it myself, but eventually it'll come back to bite them in the ass. Hopefully they'll get stuck with a good amount of shit that's beyond it's return date.

Eh, it's one thing to grab one or two things that you know have a high trade-in value to flip for something better every once in a while, and another thing entirely to clear out everything in the store on a regular basis, which someone would have to do to make a reasonable continuous profit off of ebay or whatever. I don't necessarily condone the former, but can understand it. The latter, though -- geez, get a damn job, you'd make more money with less effort flipping burgers.

On the other hand, though, it's possible he's just trolling to get the very reaction we're all having? I find it hard to believe that anyone's funding their tuition off of the Kmart clearance bin.

I also NEVER cleared out a store of their inventory. I wasn't that evil.

Here's an inventory of what I purchased from Kmart:

4 - Samsung cameras (one at $37. the rest at $60)
1 - Canon digital camera @ $52
6- Polaroid Cameras (the $8 ones)
16 - American Idol for 360 and PS3
8 - DDR U3 for 360
3 - Guitar Hero Aerosmiths (1 for each platform)
3 - Assasins Creed DS games (all I could find)

There's a few I got for 1 penny, but they're pretty irrelavent in terms of profit to mention.

I also bought a ton from Sears clearance, a few from Target, and garage sales.

Now tell me what seems so vindictive about my business to you? Its honest. I sold. People purchased. Its capitalism. Get used to it, and stop whining!

I'm sure that you're also reporting and paying taxes on this, since it's not a hobby but a business according to you. Otherwise, it's called tax evasion. The government recently passed a bill that requires all credit processors (Amazon payments, PayPal, et al) to report numbers that will go into effect soon. So, if you're not paying taxes, they will probably not only make you pay the tax you owe but also exorbitant penalties.

But, I'm sure you've been running your business correctly and have nothing to worry about.

I think you can't make selling games a business and pay your college tuition out of it. I buy cheap games and if I don't like them I sell them on eBay ... If I like them I keep them. :p I never hoard.

It's all a matter of community, and what we want this site to be. When I share information here, I do so to help out other gamers, and when I take information from here, it's for the purpose of getting games for myself, and on occasion my friends who are also gamers. It's that community that makes me want to share information here. Knowing that some leecher who isn't even interested in the games is taking that information and using it to make a profit makes me feel considerably less inclined to do so.

I know that it's probably going to happen regardless, and there are probably any number of lurkers here doing the same thing. But if we don't react when it does come up, it's as good as condoning it, which I won't.

I don't see it that, if you decide to keep a clearance game, and he decides to sell the same clearance game, I don't see how it's any different. The game is still gone from kmart. And you have both benefited from the information being posted. This particular poster is using his gains to improve himself, and not just for the purpose of owning shit. His post basically was a thank you. All the negativity, in my opinion is just sour grapes from ppl who couldn't find what they wanted at kmart.

You should be thankful for what you gain, beyond that everything else is just noise.

So you think it's totally cool when people walk into, say, Target, based on information they got here, and buy up every single copy of a game out of the clearance bin to sell on eBay? Or, back at the Best Buy $10 sale, those people who pushed a shopping cart up to a table of discount games and just pushed everything into it and then put it all up online later are totally fine? Because really, I don't see any difference between them and him (hell, this guy even admits to hitting Target as well, so he's probably doing exactly that).

You're certainly welcome to your opinion. Doesn't mean you're going to change mine.

How come it's okay to hoard a shitty game, but not a good one? For instance you guys were all a-okay with hoarding Rock Revolution a while ago in the Target thread. If hoarding is so immoral and wrong, it should be that way in ANY and EVERY circumstance. Not just when the games are "good". If not, you're all being hypocrites.

Also, how come it is okay to buy a game to trade in to another store, but not to buy it to sell it on eBay?

If someone says, "I bought 4 copies of Left 4 Dead at Target to sell on eBay" they'll get flamed to hell but if they say "I bought 4 copies of Rock Revolution at Target to trade in at Blockbuster" you all cheer them on and do the same. It's a double standard.

Actually, if I was legally able to classify myself as a Dependent, I would gain money from the government by doing so. I worked with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) so I know I would actually rake up upwards to $5000 from the government (especially as a Junior) instead of a meager $1000-2000 deducted from my parents taxes.

And like I said, I NEVER took all the inventory from a single store. I instead bought in small increments. I traveled to a total of 6 individual Kmart's in order to evenly distribute my pillage.

Damn. I don't remember these boards being so vindictive. Why is it so hard for people to be happy for others, and instead succumb to jealousy and/or hatred? Its totally illogical. I merely posted that to display how I feel that boards like these are a great service to others who have no possible way of finding these deals. That the discount for these games were so great that its actually possible to profit over them. I'm congratulating your work, and by doing so I am hated. It really makes no sense.

MY tuition is relatively cheap, but total in food and car expenses it becomes expensive. This pays for that.

I honestly don't see how what I'm doing is crazy....

I remember last summer when Target was selling a bunch of DS games for like $5...some were even expensive Nintendo games (I think Advance Wars was the title I wanted, but couldn't find). A few days later they were gone from all the stores. I was disappointed, but not angry. "The early bird gets the worm" as the saying goes. Or else you wouldn't see people lining outside for Black Friday. Or people lining up for 360's when it first came out.

Did you really think that people buying Xbox 360's the day it came out, only to resell it on eBay for hundreds more, was evil? No. Its 'Supply and Demand'. Its the foolishness of the supplier (Microsoft) for causing the problem. Not those whom profited from it.

a) How can you tell who is a 'gamer' and who is not by username?

c) You're on the fvukin internet! Nothing you say will be secret. I can google "Kmart Clearance" and I will find this page! If I cannot access the site I can cache it from Google. Or some other site will distribute this information. You can't really hide this. The only way to hide is not to share, which will violate your primary tenant.

You talk of the 'gamer' culture in an elitist tone. Go and try to enforce your ideology in the Technology Age and see how far it goes.

Look. You're really not making any logical sense at all in your argument. If I open the game and play it, and then sell it, would that make it any different? Or is it wrong to sell a game? Better yet: Do you think profiting and money in general is wrong? Then you are elitist to the core, and have little sense on how the real world acts.
