[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: chttp://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way).

Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

I couldn't find this mentioned with a search, but my local Kmart had the NYKO PS3 wireless controller marked down to $12.00. Original price was $59.99. I wasn't expecting much, but the controller works pretty well.
 
I have 2 flip ultra cams if anyone wants them. I bought to flip on ebay but no bites. One is perfect and the other has scratches all around the lens but not on the lens itself. The good one ends in about a day on ebay and if it doesn't sell its up for grabs or goes back to the store. The scratched one is just going back. You pay box,packing material,shipping, cost and tax and its yours.

Thanks blakhawkjohn, I'm going to check tomorrow. My dad is in need of a new controller (the left analog stick is stuck in the up position), but they're so damn expensive. Hope my store has them in stock and discounted.
 
Kay do you know why my stupid Kmart won't drop the 120 GB HDD T.T. Does Kmart update their prince through system database or manually enter items? I might actually buy that and go to another store and return/rebuy if that's possible?

If you're talking about those Nyko ones that look like they have metal panels to them, blakhawkjohn, those went out of the system a while ago around here.

I know this because I FINALLY found a store that still had them in stock around by me(and marked $24 each)and when I asked for a price check, they came up 'check shelf label'.

It sucks because I really wanted one of those, but some douchebag cleaned out the 3-5 that were at one of my closest Kmart stores .

I was offered one of the out of the system ones(at $24) and I declined, since I wanted one, but only if it was $4 or whatever the last price in the system for it was.

I went back to an out of the way Kmart tonight and tried to find the $2 PS3 Intercooler I saw there just a couple of weeks ago. However, both it and the $16 Lexmark printer I saw last time were long gone.

Managers at 2 Kmarts around me just gave me the last markdown price on pennied items. They might just be lax/dont give a shit either... But I found GH Aerosmith game only for PS3 at both locations this month, pennied out at both. I asked managers at both stores if I could have them for the last markdown price of $3 and they didnt care. Its funny how both trusted me on that price, I guess it helps to sounds confident in that being the last markdown price. Considering both were stickered at 59.99 its probably not easy to do. I have a way of lobbying for prices with managers. Using the "I bought it at 2-3 other Kmarts for that price last month". Thats definitely a YMMV tactic but Ive pulled it off more than once.

You'll need a lot of luck to try and find that hard drive. Considering it has already been on clearance for awhile, I'm sure they are all gone by now. Not only are the members of this forum looking for it, lurkers and other internet forums were also aware of this.

As for other stores that may have it, nothing as good as this deal.

i might stop at the kmart thats on my way home after work...they never have anything so there is like a .000001% chance they'll even have a 120 GB HDD @ $149, let alone one for $15.

i tihnk my luck has pretty much come to an end at kmart. my store is pretty cleaned out. All they have left are those 360 charge packs (which i bought one earlier and it sux)
 
I want to elaborate more on the 120 GB HDD I found yesterday. It was in the glass case by all of the PS2 stuff (by a bunch of Buzz bundles). It was turned sideways and if you didn't know what the packaging looked like, you would've completely missed it. So if you're going hunting make sure you take the time to really look around.

Any store Manager can go back in the system and change the price of a clearance item if they think they are taking too much of a loss. The only time this wont happen if Kmart is actually having a clearance sales "pictured" in the weekly sales ad paper.

Yes it's possible for the return and rebuy. It's YMMV now as certain stores
may you wait 24 hrs to rebuy.

This was pennied out a while ago. This and Six Axis went on clearance at the same time. Maybe your store will have other drops priced around this time frame also.

As I detailed a few months back, it could actually hurt to try. The last time I tried to return/rebuy they treated me like a criminal and then tried to deny a flat return even though it was within the 90 days (they insisted electronics were 30 days). Then they apparently watched me on security cams while I went to Electronics to buy more stuff. They called the clerk as I was checking out and had him cross off the 90 day return on the receipt and hand write 30 days. :bomb:

For whatever reason, they have gotten really strict with the return/rebuy thing around here (and I had only done it a few times the whole year up to that point - so it wasn't because of me ;)). I thought you had said a memo was sent around saying it was no longer done? And now it can be? WTF?

Anyway, was on a mini-vacation with the family over the weekend and it pained me to drive right past a couple of rural Kmarts that I could only imagine would have been goldmines of clearance goodies. But the family probably would have left me there if I stopped to look :cry:.
 
Kaydigi, I have a random question about the pennied items and selling them at the last price. It's more of a general info question than a CAG question though.

For the retailer, once an item is pennied-out, is it better to not sell the item at the lowest markdown price and send it back to the distributor (who then thinks you can't move inventory) or is it worse to sell it at the last mark-down price (which may prove you can only sell clearance priced items at your storebecause you didn't sell it until it was really cheap)? I've always been curious about this. Thanks!

When it's pennied out, they can return it for for credit. Just off memory pennied out wheat thins were being credited for $3.24. It's not full credit all the time though there are a couple other factors.

When stuff doesn't sell entire lines can get pulled from the store like Abby Hill and Martha Stewart stuff.

I've tried that before and it worked for me about 20-30% of the time for a while, but it's definitely a huge YMMV tactic. Most of the employees don't even know how the hell to use the pricing gun that they could use to look up a last price, so asking them to 'look it up' is like talking to a wall.

When I've tried the 'last price' tactic with some managers, they ask me how I know so much about their pricing and everything and normally I try the 'a buddy of mine got them for that price and he told me they looked them up'.

Case in point, I used the actual name of the pricing gun(PLU or something to that effect) in the presence of a manager the one night and she asked how I knew what they called it. I stumbled for a second and said I had heard the employees call it that once or twice before.

So sometimes it doesn't pay to act too confident or they may think you have inside info and blackball you altogether.

Last priced option isn't available to every worker in the store. Only a few people have it. Never be afraid to use correct terms either. "How do you know about a RMU?" Say "My wife works at Sears".
 
Found one of those 32" Sonys, but they refused to sell it to me. It was being used as part of a Guitar Hero World Tour setup on a 360, which by the way they haven't used for a while because the 360 and the peripherals were broken. Makes no f******g sense. That's Kmart for you.

Im interested in it but I remember having it before with my last 360 and it was a mess with the skipping, graphical pop ups and some of the loading..

Software was starting at 20% off, but every hardware system was already priced at 10% off. I doubt many of them will last beyond, say, 20% off, though.

As well: all sales are final, now, so you really have to *know* that you want it.

our kmart closed down about a month ago. the deals sucked balls even to the last day. the most the games went down was 30% off. and they jacked all prices up to 60, even a lot of the older titles.

I dont know sometimes you would be suprised because lots of the district stores will send shit into the going under store to sell it and my bro got a few slim silver PS2's for like $30
 
Games got to 50% off at a closing Kmart near me a few months ago. The problem was prices didn't drop like a regular store so a $9.99 game at 50 off was the same price as the game at a non closing store where it was $4.99

Yeah the prices are locked in when the liquidator hits so the weekly ad and any clearance price drops do not apply. It used to be decent when they would keep all the clearance prices and then take an extra % off but now liquidators are marking everything up to the retail price and then taking their discount off of that, meaning the current clearance prices usually go down the drain when the liquidator hits. So with stuff like toys when you have an item that is currently $3 on clearance with an original price of something like $50 (yes it does happen) but when the liquidator hits it will be marked back up to $50 with 10% off.

There are stores that will keep the clearance prices though depending on what store you visit and the liquidator in charge of the sale and you can find that off item that they might have missed marking up but overall liquidation sales are a bad deal if your just randomly looking for cheap stuff. Most of us here already know this though so it should come as no surprise.

The highest % off I have seen at a liquidation sale here in my area (this goes for all stores) was 75% off on the last day and that was for everything, most items left would have still been cheaper at a regular store. They usually have one tiny table of 90% off then the rest is 75% off. You would think they would mark everything to 90% off on the last day but its not being done here.

As for games they are usually sold out before anything gets remotely cheap, and usually due to the markups you can buy the same game cheaper elsewhere. I find that a closing store stops getting the new releases a month or 2 before it closes and often there aren't that many games left to choose from when the sale starts to begin with.
 
I just left the Kmart on 6650 Manchester in St. Louis, MO and grabbed a rock revolution bundle for $7 for 360. Had 3 left. Weird thing was they had GH 2 bundles for $89.99.

No one is sitting on drop info and waiting for you to ask. I've seen you in this thread a lot so you should know that clearance drops happen about once a month and since it has only been 2 weeks, it will be at least 2 more before you should even worry about any reductions.
 
There is a slight chance it could be next week. The time between the past drop and the current drop was 3 weeks, and this upcoming week makes it 3 weeks since the last clearance drops. The only bad thing is, there isn't going to be much to find whenever the next drop is since it looks like a lot of stuff is at 90% off so will drop out of the system.

They really need to drop the $5.99 games that have been $5.99 since Februrary or earlier.

At least the KMart kept the current clearance prices on games at the closing store, but it didn't allow for any extra money off compared to non closing stores. It was also good that CC kept clearance pricing before discounts.

My local TRU closed down in June (they moved a few minutes up the road to a new location with Babies R Us in the store as well) and they had clearance games as part of the liquidation and the same thing happened. Singstar 90's Bundle for example was $29.98 less 30% off so $21 when a non closing TRU had it for $9.98. The last clearance price before the liquidation was $29.98 so they kept it at that price but it wasn't a deal yet it sold.

I hate when stores mark up stuff to full price for liquidation. Then it sells for 10% - 20% off with people thinking they got a good deal and that is why I typically avoid store closing sales. The "deals" usually are horrible.
