10% off coupon, YMMV:

OK, here's the latest Kmart clearance thread. 99% of the info taken from ShiningSlade's last Kmart clearance thread:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...ad.php?t=93304

and from the most recent follow-up by gotech:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...d.php?t=127659

(with the other 1% from my own receipts ;)).

Three important notes (please read these before posting questions):

1) Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them (and they don't have restickered UPCs - see point 3 below) they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

2) Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

3) These prices will not show up on the kmart.com web site. Don't even bother.

Explanation of pricing list

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: http://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way). What we are currently missing is a good list of accessories. I have added a few that I know about. We need more info on these (and there must be more to uncover).

In general, I'm sticking with ShiningSlade's method of listing games. However, there are a few changes. Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

Color Scheme

90% off games (the lowest they will go before they drop out)

slickdeals is killing CAG, there should be a long wait list to let members in and an easy way to ban people (like neogaf).

On a side note Rogue Galaxy is an amazing game, completely worth the 10 bucks!!
Slickdeals has their own kmart thread now for these games. Good luck finding these games now. It seems that all the post are being posted on sd now.
I just went to one of my Kmarts tonight, and noticed that it had been completely stripped of decent games. I already got what I wanted and I'm glad I got in when I did. There were a couple of games at other locations that I was holding off on, to get a better price at the next 30% off sale. They'll probably be long gone now.

Dammit :bomb:

This was always sort of a hidden gem on CAG. It seems even most CAGs don't pay much attention to the Kmart clearances. I'll have to see if things have changed at any of my local stores. I was kind of hoping on waiting for another drop on some of these things. Fortunately the difficulty in buying games at Kmart (lack of help, disorganization, stuff hidden in the cases, etc) will help blunt any onslaught of deal snatchers...

Did they cut n' paste, or are they at least doing their own work?

Slickdeals is NOT killing CAG, it's the damn people buying the clearance games for the simple fact of gouging them to other members. And while there are some people who are members of both(like me), I use CAG more and I barely talk over there. But, there are some who simply registered here to get info to put on there and vice versa.

The people who are charging $20 over what they pay for the games are the kind of people who 'kill' cheapass deals for other people on here, imo. THOSE people SHOULD be banned.

Then again, I charged $15 over what I paid for Vagrant Story, but I sent the game Priority with DC, so I made $7-8 tops.

You wanna profit? Stick to being a lurker and don't try and whore your hoarded games out on someone else and don't do it here.

Tell me about it! After playing a bit of Rogue Galaxy, I'd have gladly paid $40 for it if I'd have known it was going to be this cool. I wouldn't have even known about the game if it wasn't for this thread.

I'd trade something off my list or get something at the local sears for a copy of Rogue Galaxy for me - all the copies here are $30 or more :whistle2:(

Worst part is the poster at SD never gave credit to CAG.

danb22 "Wasn't taken from CAG, it was taken from ConsoleCity (who may have taken from there)"

Bull$hit

I forgot to brag about this over the weekend but I went to Colorado Springs on Saturday and found....

Not 1...
NOT 2...
BUT THREE SEALED COPIES OF LEGEND OF ZELDA: MINISH CAP for the sparkling price of $7.00 each, in one store!

Boo-yah! Hate me baby, hate me well!!

Not nearly as priceless as the SD douche who not only took my TRU adscan, completely watermarked, and try to claim it as his own, but was ALSO dumb enough to hotlink it from my server.

Add a little bit of transexual porn and hilarity ensued.

I also inadvertantly burned someone who hotlinked it in the Amazon forums, who I didn't know about until a few weeks later. I think that guy may have had his account banned.

As soon as something comes up on SD or FW, I know for sure it will be gone that day. There is not even a chance of getting anything once it is posted on those sites. It's a shame.

I know these aren't games, but it seems like a good thing to post here.

All 2GB and 4GB iPod Nanos (the old ones that are now discontinued) are well... discontinued, and are now up as pending PLCs at my Kmart. They'll hopefully be dropped this week to the jawesome price of $100 each. Yes, 4GB and 2GB are both at the same price.

Just throwing this out there if anyone's interested, I hid a few for myself/friends out back until they're officially dropped.

YMMV on this of course.

$100 for a 4gb iPod Nano is a pretty crappy deal when you could've bought a 30gb Zune for $130 off Amazon. Or a 4gb pro duo for $30-40. Just my opinion, some people seem to really love their tiny lightweight .mp3 only players.

I remember back in 1999ish Gotapex.com was one of the original. Then came FW and SD.

Over the last several years, Hot Deals have really gone down. There are too many people scouring deal sites these days.
Alrighty guys and dolls, http://kmart.slashbunny.com/ has now been updated. For now, I did the "priority" update which includes all the 360 games and the most wanted PS2 RPGS (Disgaea, Rogue Galaxy, etc.) When I have more time, Ill go and add the other stuff, and also lower some of the prices of the older stuff.

As a general rule, a majority of the items are now at 75% off, so if its mistagged try and figure out the original price and go for there.

As far as drops go, I imagine they will go from 75% to 90% in the middle of this month or next. Disgaea didn't sit at $25 for very long, but at the same time FFIVA was at $15 for about 6 months before going to 75% off. A new % off sale though would make things a lot easier (A $7 game would be $4.90 ar opposed to $3 at 90% off).

If you have any spare time yourselves, help me out with some UPC codes from the missing ones on io's master list - it would make the UPC job much easier

Dave
Thanks Dave. I appreciate the help. :D

i went to a new kmart yesterday and saw a person with a list looking through the glass case. i peeked at the list and they were all $1.50 to $2 sports games. it couldn't have been from CAG since nobody really cares about sports games here (maybe only when they are first release). immediately thought it was from one of the other deal sites floating around the net, either FW or SD.
Did they cut n' paste, or are they at least doing their own work?
cut and paste job as it also includes all the barcodes next to the titles.
i say create some bogus prices. see if they will post them there.
good idea, or we could all start leaving posts like "these prices ain't right, just went to 3 kmarts and everything rang up full prices" enough of those on there and l'm sure most people won't even both going to look. I know it would put me off going.

io: i think you need to investigate this. just compare the 2 post and see if it matches up. then maybe contact their mods about it and have it closed for sure. tell them you don't want to be credited at this point since they just basically stole the list. if they wont do it, ask cheapy for help.

I got Rogue Trooper (XBOX) $7, Armored Core: Last Raven (PS2) $7 and LOTR: BOTME (XBOX) $2 plus 10% off coupon :). It's very hard to believed Dynasty Warriors is on clearanced for long time now... still rangup $40-ish :(

I signed up on SD last night to see if it was the same list, it is the list verbatim.

UPC codes are to the side and all of the UPC's that are not on the CAG list (i.e 0000000000 upc codes) are not on this list either, there is even the section at the bottom that says Systems and Accessories and it even has the 3 "Other Electronics Clearance Items" at the bottom.

Most people do seem to be disappointed with the list, and there are some users pointing out that the list is not only stolen from CAG, but that it has been here for over a year, as such, some people are dismissing it as old. Other have made their way to K-Mart to find their store devoid of any of these games.

He says it came from ConsoleCity, not CAG in his post and when I went to this site I couldn't find anything, but that doesnt mean it wasn't there too.

With SD and FW people lurking, I might not come to this thread anymore but I wanted to say thanks to the people that actually go out and scan the games...if it werent for you I would have never played games like Knights of the Old Republic ($2 i believe?) Rogue Galaxy ($10) Donkey Konga (less then $5) and countless others.

Oh and this thread should be hidden somewhere in the boards (maybe some local region board with few people?) and PM all the people that regularly post in here with its location as a way to keep the lurkers at bay.

Sadly, I may be done posting my finds.
With the new lists being created/updated, it just makes it too easy for SD and FW.
I actually enjoyed checking for and contributing new finds every day or so, the lists just cause stores to be wiped out.
Just my personal observation.

BUT I do appreciate the effort and time put out by members here, to no fault of theirs....sadly things are a changin....

maybe someone could set up a private group for the kmart deals somewhere else and dont let just any person join, that way it would only include well-known cags and those that have contributed. not sure how good that would work out, but i know that this has happened over at fatwallet too. most of the secret deals went off to a private google group and now they get all the deals for themselves.

That sounds like a good idea the only thing is that info over the net is a secure as nothing...

That info could easily be leaked by and insider on this site... lol get Bush and his crew to get a CIA cover operation going here and if anything is leaked we play dumb.....

It would seem that FW, et al haven't caused every location to be cleaned out as I found today Disgae 2, Rogue Galaxy (yeah!) and Tales of Legendia at the noted prices. They had more copies of all but Rogue Galaxy. I didn't check the 360 games since I don't have a 360. They had a lot of DS and GBA stuff too, though I didn't check the list of clearance games so I don't know what if anything there was on clearance. I hope people continue to post their found deals.

I can get the brokenpinata forums up and running properly and place deals in a private forum. That way only those who are authorized by a mod can view them.

They way it usually works with FW and SD is after a few days/weeks, it will die down. When there was the CC clearance a year ago, for the first few weeks of checking CC's, I never saw anyone else with a list. The day it was posted on SD/FW, I saw people with lists. Then a few weeks later it was back to normal and I was almost able to get everything I wanted (as prices kept on being lowered).

I agree that something needs to be done. I finally figured out a schedule for my K-Mart runs (and found a really good K-Mart for this sort of thing), and it would nice if I did not have to worry about others stealing the info that I and other CAGs gather.

I like sharing what I gather with the CAG community - especially those that contribute. I know that I do not have a million posts like some others do, but I have helped in this thread (and slade's thread before it). I like to try to be useful somewhere :). It just so happens that I have quite a few KMarts within about 10 miles, so I feel that I have something to contribute, even if it is a weekly run to some or all of them.

I really enjoy doing KMart runs - it is exciting to see if I can find a copy of a long forgotten gem especially if I can get it cheap. I also enjoy posting what I find and about new drops on games, because I feel that someone out there appreciates it for the love of the game, and not for the love of making a quick profit by flipping multiple copies of the game. One of the K-Marts near me has multiple copies of some of the games on this list, but I only buy what I am going to play. That is why I have not stocked up on Gamecube games for example - I do not have a Gamecube or a Wii, so what would I do with them? I do not like the idea of flipping them just to make a quick buck if that means that someone does not get a chance to play them.

As irishsoccer said above, I feel that being able to get these games cheap means increased exposure for them and a more well rounded gaming community on the whole. I know I make this sound like a crusade, but it is important to me that people get to experience some of these games. So perhaps I am old school, or a bit of a purist, but CAG to me means being able to experience and enjoy games that I might not take a look at or know about.

It is upsetting to see leaches on SD, FW, and other sites trying to hoarde these games to make a profit. I agree that it is hard to separate those who will be a contributor, and those who will get in and leak the information. It would seem that making a Google Group or a secret forum will not solve the problem, but it is a step. It makes it that much harder. With something so vast as the Internet, containing information is next to impossible. I am sure we all know this, but I think that we should do something about blantant leaching from other sites.

Anyways, I hope we figure this out because I do not want this thread to shrivel up and die. We can do this CAGs. I think yoshi is right (post above this one), so hopefully we can continue business as normal and forget about them.

As I read it, Yoshi was saying that it isn't really a big deal, that after a little while things will be back to normal. Yoshi can correct me if I read that wrong.

That is what it seemed like to me as well. I figure he is right, but some people were talking about not reporting what they found, and I do not think the people on SD and FW are worth it. I for one am going to report what I find because the people on CAG who could benefit greatly outweigh those who rip off the info.

I think that is YMMV - the KMart I was at had a 20 - 50% off clearance toys, but nothing in the electronics section.

What it really comes down to is........are there FW/SD hoarders in your area?, some cities have a lot (where a deal gets posted and stores are cleaned out within an hour) or some are not even affected. Just because there is 20 copies of Disgaea 2 at your local K-Mart doesn't mean that the hoarders are not checking the SD/FW post and that they don't care. Just means your lucky as you don't have any of them in your area. But the rate that people are selling on ebay and amazon these days, there will surely be someone that pops up sooner or later and will take all the deals before you ever get to them.

If your one of those that never gets in on any of the deals in your area, you should try this. Go to ebay, go to the video games/games category and in the search options do a search for items within your zipcode, like 10 or 25 miles of your area zipcode. If you see a ton of games that are off this list from the same person then you'll find your local hoarder. Whenever games drop, checking ebay I can usually find out if there is a hoarder in my area and that explains why I didn't see anything. This doesn't help the problem at all, but I bet we'll see a lot less people contributing to this thread now they know that the FW/SD crowd will hoard the games that they took time over upc scanning and such.

I went by my local K-mart yesterday and they had actually moved a great deal of the Clearance out to an end cap in electronics, there were plenty of the older 360 games yellow tagged (Kameo, PDZ, NBA 07, Madden 06 (no Gun, FarCry, or Table Tennis)) as well as a few of the DS GBA games (FFV was 22, Contact was 26) Throne of agony was on clearance for 30 in the PSP case. I picked up the last copy of ST: Legacy for 360 @ 10 bucks.

I don't know if it's the same in other parts of the country, but I also noticed they have "front row" types of games now in a section
YMMVicon_r1.gif
where music used to be outside of the locked cases. They are tagged with a full color price sticker at 9.99 or 14.99.

It might be worth a trip if you're interested; I didn't list all they had.

I saw that at one Kmart yesterday...I think the only notable ones in that section were

PS2 - Matrix: Path of Neo for $9.99
PS2 - Ratchet : Up Your Arsenal $14.99
PS2 - Demon Stone $9.99

That's all I can recall now.

I just had to post here and share my thoughts. I used to be a regular when the site first started (before CheapyD went to Japan, and even before that first TV appearance on ESPN's Cold Pizza). I have been out of the gaming scene for a while and recently just got a 360. Looking for discount games, I remembered this site and came back to look for some deals. A big THANKS to all those who take the time and effort to verify these prices. I will definitely be making more use of my account here. Maybe with time, I'll learn to contribute again.

Thanks again.

My thoughts are if you are a contributing member, you see the new items being found and reported daily.
IT IS the completed LISTS that make a trip easy and worthwhile for SD/FW folks...and the infamous cut and paste...
Member only/locked type threads are indeed an idea, but not practical.
I'll throw out there....while lists are nice (I started one in Excel), perhaps they should not be posted.

and I'm jealous some members do not run into FW/SD folks yet...but it only takes one with list in hand and cell phone in the other...

My trip to the infamous BB clearance earlier this year was a circus, even at a pretty remote location....I went from having the section when they opened to at least 10 other shoppers with lists in hand in less than 30 minutes...

again, lists make it easy...let's stop making it easy....

I totally agree with what Oxygen has to say. i'm here for cheap games that i can purchase and play. The kmart clearance thread cannot go away. I'll try and contribute as much as i can. especially since i live a few blocks down from a kmart. i physically check there every week since i'm not too familiar with bar codes and all. The best and cheapest games i've found at kmart. I believe that true CAGers are in for the love of gaming at cheap prices more than trying to make a few bucks. maybe i'll try to come up with hidden messages or codes we all can write in the forums that explain the deals. be a little work but hey it can happen :)

OK, my thoughts... We have a couple of things going for us. First off is all the stuff I mentioned yesterday. It is simply not EASY to get these games at Kmart, unlike, say, a Best Buy clearance. I mention Best Buy because I remember early this year (I think it was?) when there was this huge list of clearance stuff and that got leaked to the other sites in advance, I remember going to one Best Buy in the afternoon and they said there were 50 people waiting outside the door when they opened. It turned out they had a couple of the games from the list and that was it . For whatever reason that clearance got hyped up on the other sites. In general, though, I don't see a lot of that type of thing around here (though it was bad with Wii reselling here for a while).

But at Kmart you have things mistagged, hidden, disorganized, etc. You kind of need to follow along with this thread to figure it all out. Plus, we know which games are more likely to be found now. 90% of the games in the list are long gone with the occasional find here and there. And this is particularly true the $2-$4 games, which is what most of those other people will be after. I'm glad the OP is a huge overwhelming list full of long-gone stuff, because it will probably discourage most of those people if they go and find almost nothing there (as seems to be happening already).

I may change the OP a bit, though. It may make it slightly harder for CAGs who don't read the thread regularly, but it may be enough to make it a little more cryptic for outsiders. First, I'll probably remove all the frontlane info - that way, they find a game that is supposed to be $2 and it rings up $14.99 (or $11.99 or whatever they are now) and they get frustrated. YES, we'll have to deal with the moronic CAG contingent coming in here and complaining about that (as we did before) but I can live with that. Also, I may remove the red/yellow color coding for newly discovered clearance games. I'll just slip them in the OP but leave the "new" factor to those who read the thread regularly. I'll probably keep the 90% off coloring there, as most of those are gone anyway.

What do you all think? It's not much, but it may help with future cut n paste jobs.

Sounds good perhaps it will deter the non-regular users.
I just started posting on this kmart thread and contributing, find it extremly helpful would hate to see if fall to the way-side or just supply the sd/fw folks.
I will continue to post price drops I find as a heads up to other cag's.
That is what it seemed like to me as well. I figure he is right, but some people were talking about not reporting what they found, and I do not think the people on SD and FW are worth it. I for one am going to report what I find because the people on CAG who could benefit greatly outweigh those who rip off the info.

But see, you act like it's ONLY the SD and FW people hoarding and gouging and Ebaying these games, Oxygen. But, I have learned from reading multiple trade lists that there are just as many hoarders here on CAG, who will buy up a specific store or three's inventory of cheap games, then gouge them for $20 or sometimes MORE OVER their original cost.

I mean, I'm all for helping out a CAG or two and all, but charging that much is just price gouging, especially on the titles like Disgaea 2 and Rogue Galaxy.

So yeah, my opinion still stands, even if I find a new deal on something, I may mention it, but I'm not gonna give a location WHERE I found it after what happened with the copies of Baten Kaitos when I mentioned WHERE I found them.

So, pardon me if it's being 'cryptic', but all of my future posts will mention price, item and for location, I'm putting down 'undisclosed location'. At least if there's SD, FW or CAG hoarders in my area, it'll make them WORK for the deals.

That all sounds awesome. I've been wanting to see a new K-mart clearance thread for some time, but maybe it is better to leave it just like it is so people like me who check this thread all the time know what to look for and know what is going on. I wish there was a way to confuse people into looking at the OLD OLD OLD list that are Pennied Out.

FYI everyone, though this guy is getting credit for his "find" on SD, all of 2 people have posted finding anything and one guy got 2 sports games (one of them was an NHL game, blah.) Everyone else is complaining the list is old, prices are higher at their k-mart or there is nothing at their kmart. I really think this will die off. A lot of these people seem to not be gamers anyway and were disappointed to find that the list was for Video Games and not board games.

I can totally go along with that. I do not like the feeling of seeing someone walk off with a stack of games when I just want one. I typically do not report where I find games for that reason. I figure that if my KMart has the price, most others do too since my KMart has been exactly in line with the prices reported here. My location is irrelevant. For something more YMMV like a Walmart or Target clearance, location is nice. For KMart clearances, it does not matter so much in my opinion.

I realize too that SD and FW are not the only sources of hoarders. I think I have an ideal view of CAGs in general, and I tend to overlook things like that. You are right though. But my point still stands. I think that we should encourage the love of the game more than the love of profit. I do not think making a few bucks off a fellow CAG for a game is such a bad thing, since time and gas are not free. It is one thing to buy a game at $5 and charge $10 for it. It would probably cost more than $10 for someone to get it if their KMart does not have it. However, what I do not like is people whose sole motivation is to profit.

I genuinely appreciate those who contribute to this thread and CAG in general, and I hope that no one will close up due to some unscrupulous people.

It does really suck. I used to be able to goto both the Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN Kmarts and find whatever I wanted that was on clearance....only took what I wanted, which has always been my motto (I've left things at TRU clearances before cause I knew a fellow CAG was in the store looking for it as well). But lately, I can't find anything anywhere. I find out about it that day, and I'll go over and its already cleared out. I hardly ever even bother going anymore. Its just not worth it.

Luckily found a copy of Tales of Legendia for $7. I really wanted Rogue Galaxy, Or Disgaea 2 but can't find it. I went to 3 kmarts. Oh well, back to phantom hourglass and halo 3

Has anyone actually seen any effect or is it just speculation? I'm not seeing any impact here. Maybe this has gotten blown out of proportion?
