[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: chttp://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way).

Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

That's pretty disheartening if I ever take a link I always give credit. I go through hell dodging General and Store Managers while printing these list.



Also, Metroid Prime 3 was $9.97 if I didn't put it in the list.

Here's what you do:

encode the newest list. (for like a week to give old time members a head start.) You don't need anything fancy or some navajo indians.

only tell the decode key to people who have been around a while.

There's no way cheapy can do anything on the forums as arcane noted.

you gotta do it the old fashioned way.

I'm on both forums(FW/SD) under pretty similar names to here, so I've posted in both threads that were made about the tv list and gave the OP of each a negative.

I suggest everyone on CAG who wants those threads buried and the deals to be largely ignored register for both SD/FW and give thumbs down and negatives for them as well.

The only other thing that I could think to do, which might help a bit but would probably not eliminate the problem (and really, it only takes one person willing to copy and paste to ruin it), would be to lock down the site further. Make it so that you have to be logged in as a registered user in order to see any pages (right now, it lets you view several before telling you that you have to be a member to keep viewing). Make it so that you have to have participated on the site for a certain amount of time and number of posts before having access to certain forums (such as the deals forum).

Again, those options wouldn't eliminate the problem, but forcing participation might help to increase the sense of community felt by the members and make them less likely to want to share the information elsewhere. At the very least, it would cut down on the lurkers.

Usually the lower the rating on a thread, the less likely someone is to look at it on those forums. If we can stop at least half of the jackoffs from those two sites from looking for the deals kaydigi posted, then there's that much less competition for them.

That was actually another suggestion I was going to make to Cheapy, was that those who don't do anything but view the forums should have to actively participate/post before unlocking every forum/deal. Too many lurkers on here anymore.

the second post was part of the list in the first post encrypted. If you had the code, you'd see that the 512MB memory card was now down to $1.97. ;)

That's what I figured it was and I know Cheapy won't bar people from viewing the forums or anything like that, but it would stop some lazy lurkers for sure.

Yeah, I'm not saying that he would do it, just that it would be a way to cut back on the problem. That's where you have to start making decisions -- draw in as many people as possible, or keep your core membership happy. I don't think we'd get him to limit access to forums for registered members at all, but maybe at least making the deals forums only viewable to registered, logged in members would be possible? After all, all someone would have to do to see them would be to register, and he does want them to do that.

I'm upset about the list getting out, you weren't credited at all kay. Plus when I did find one of the tvs some fat guy pushed me out of the way saying he saw it on slickdeals first and it was his. I was pissed about that.

At which point you should've pulled out your glitter gun(used when GS employees refuse you penny guides), sprayed him in the face, then knocked a magazine rack over on him.

Then you could've gone over and grabbed the tv and strolled up to the register with it and added when he got up from his beatdown you could've yelled 'Don't mess with a CAG, bitch!'.:lol:

And I agree that having kay get PM'd to get the list of tv's or whatever would be a major pain in the ass for her, since she'd have all the damn lurkers flooding her inbox for it in no time.

They could see the front page deals. Hell, even let them see the thread titles, but make them log in to see the actual content. If that's not enough to entice them, they probably weren't going to stick around anyway.

Though really, it's probably a moot point -- I don't know who it was that posted Kay's list over there, but that guy who was posting the Target lists on SD for a while (maybe he still is, for all I know) was a registered, active member, told everyone he was doing it, and couldn't even seem to get why people were pissed at him for it! (Hell, I was doubly pissed, because "his" Target was the one right up the street from my office!) Some people are just tools by nature, and nothing's going to fix them.
 
People don't get banned from other forums, we will learn from this incident for the next drop.

Maybe PM a master list for USERS for Sun, Mon and Tuesday so you guys can get the deals and then post the rest for lurkers. I want CAG to have the list first since this is the only forum I check for game deals. I do not visit SD or FW, so why

Or post the games & cereal as usual and PM all other electronics.

But we don't want your inbox getting flooded with requests for the new list every time you grab it for us here on CAG, kay.

That's why for as much as I'd like to see only active users getting the deals via PM's or otherwise, it just wouldn't work unless you were ok with taking tons of PM's from both the grateful(myself) and the ungrateful(lurking bastards).
 
Wow, you guys are adding so much value to this thread. (And now so am I, of course.) Point being, just because you are "active" doesn't mean you are more valuable or more deserving.
 
Found 2 $6.99 Rock Band Drum sets at the 34th Street Herald Square Kmart in Manhattan. Only bought 1 though. Good luck.

I say PM the list. To lower the workload, have Kay send it to five people, and those five people send the list to the rest of the people that are listed to receive it. After a week, the list is posted on the forum.

Just a quick question, I know there is one other CAG, but is there anyone that goes to the Kmarts in Westwood NJ and Paramus NJ (on 17 south)? I don't know if it was the Holiday season, but most of the clearance except for double packs is gone.
 
It would be way too much effort for everyone to do the PMing the list every few weeks. There are not really other threads that work in that way and other people would be posting kmart drops in this thread anyway. Some of us may be able to find TVs every once in awhile, though not often, but other than that it seems pointless.
 
Yet again another reason I rarely share my finds with anyone. For every great Scorched or Kaydigi there are 100 people trying to hoard or hide it. These threads live on the backs of people like Kaydigi and everyone else is just feeding off it. Face it, what other contributions have their been to this thread other than Kay in the past month(s)?
 
My 1st post and it's to say thanks to Kaydigi, full credit due to you! My kmart may be a bit desolate, but the clearance has always been great and the staff who actually talk to people are always fun.

I'm going back for at least one of the wii games that I've been after, that I just noticed on your list. Seriously, thanks! :applause:

Yes, ultimately, people would still find out the deals, and doing things like that just changes who's doing the hoarding, usually :p

If you're that pressed for the deal, subscribe to the threads that watch for deals and have the email alert option. Even better if you have a phone that has email functions.
 
Honestly you guys are blowing this out of proportion. Plain and simple anyone with half a brain is going to buy a 32 inch HDTV for $60. If you were working at the store you would take all the TVs yourself and sell them on ebay for $300 no problem. As I posted earlier I couldn't find any Star Ocean for the 360 someone pointed out that they probably sold out when they dropped to $15.

if i scan a barcode from the barcode scanner and it says "check shelf tag for price," does that mean its out of the system? i scanned other things and got a price instead of the curious message.

Usually when it comes up 'check shelf label' or 'price required' that means it's out of the system and they may not sell it to you.
 
I'm more then likely too late on the TV's but gonna check my local K-mart after I drop my daughter off at school in the morning.

That's exactly what I did. I forgot my list and tried asking the lady about a couple TVs that were "supposed to be on clearance" from memory, and the lady said something about 2 panasonic TVs (not on list) were on closeout, and they're gone.

Gonna go back when I can print some barcodes and check.
 
I had no luck in Charlotte, NC. I went to both the K-mart in Pineville and the location on Freedom Dr. The Freedom drive location did have a lot of Rock Band SE for xbox, but they were still at the $130 price point. I think Charlotte is filled with Hoarders now because I don't find half as many jewels as I used to.
 
Another way to get the copypasters would be to send out misinformation every once in a while, that way they'd waste gas and effort >=D
 
start private user groups. you could control who is allowed in the group. That is how certain deals should be handled if you don't want the info to get out.

You have to remember that most of these games were $14.97 for 2-3 months and one of those months had a holiday known as Christmas in it. How long do you think a Zelda game marked $14.97 is going to sit on a shelf?
 
Kmart was off my retail radar for years until I started following Kaydigi's posts and making weekly (but as of yet deal-less) trips. She may be their best marketing secret.
 
Checked my local K-mart none, my brother in-law checked one near his house nothing, my sister in-law checked the one she works at when she went to get her schedule and nothing there either.

I totally agree, the electronics section looks like something out of a flea market. Except the prices aren't cheap and and there is not a lot of stuff. Maybe Sears is slowly phasing out the electronic depts. at Kmart. It's like a cementery in there :drool:
