Official LEGEND OF ZELDA: TWILIGHT PRINCESS Thread !

A winner is me...

MAJOR spoilers ahead..
Wow. Just wow. An amazing game that never dragged, ever. I loved every second of it. The final fight with Zant was awesome, the final fight with Ganon was AMAZING. Once the "Finish" move was started with the A button, I flipped the remote around and thrust it into the floor. Anyone who says the controls aren't more immersive on the Wii never came close to finishing the game.

I have one friend who's already beaten it. He's breathed a sigh of relief that we can talk frankly about it now. Another friend, troa11 on here if he shows up ever, just got a Wii today so it's kinda agony not spilling anything for him. And my other close friend is still on the Wii hunt, sadly. I just want to talk about the story and everything with them all. I guess I'll be content to talking in spoiler buttons here. ;)

Twilight Princess alone justifies my $300 spent on system and game. It's all gravy from here on out.

Just finished the 5th dungeon, and may I say that was a rather creative setup.

Additionally, did anyone else think "Massive Damage"
when they picked up the Ball and Chain?
^ I hate it when people change their usernames :p
In my defense the first part of my name refered to my undergrad college. Now that I have a job (to which I am dutifully working right now, honest), and I'm looking at grad school, the IU seemed out of place. I've been changing my username to just foltzie at as many places as I can.

That was one of the few surprising moments for me so far. After fighting the Boss of the 4th dungeon I thought... wow I want that sword. Then when you beat him the sword comes down and I was like... HELL YES, but then POOF a heart container. So when I came to that mid-boss with the BnC I kill him and then... O snap his weapon didn't dissapear.. SCORE!

My bad.

EDITED SPOILERS-
Enemies have weapons. This includes swords on occasion.

ADDITIONAL SPOILERS-
You gain new items in Zelda games.

There we are.
Everything has a weapon... be it fists/claws/brain power/cuteness/pacifism.
Or excessive/ironic spoiler tags.

Finally beat the first dungeon.
Took me forever to find the last key, I kept hoping I didn't have to backtrack, even though it was only a few rooms.
Use tags please.
Don't be a douche.

And to botticus, get used to it :p. It hasn't really been that bad in this game, but there's always some.

Well, figured I'd finally stop by this thread.

I never played Zelda when it came out... played OoT for maybe 5 minutes, although screwing around on a friend's far-along game was fun and made me enojy Zelda... I jsut avoided the work :p.

Played Minish Cap, beat it, loved it.

Played ALttP on GBA and loved that as well.

So I picked this up on launch day with the wii but didn't get to really sit down and play until now.

Got to the first temple and didn't get too far. So far the Wii controls have been fine, but nothing of difficulty has been presented yet... so I'm kind of worried about the future.
what? the ending was awesome
Maybe I was expecting too much. But it didn't blow me away. Overall the game was a great experiance. I played the game without using any faqs or guide and that just enhanced the gameplay. You can do everything in this game without a guide. Except maybe finding the Poe souls, they're a bit annoying.

Again my biggest complaint is the difficulty of fights.
What's the point of searching for heart pieces when I could easly beat the last boss without using any potions and losing about 3/4th of my life? Even though the last boss was fun battle once you figured out the "trick" (like with any boss) it's a piece of cake.

I'm at about the 17 hour mark and I haven't even tackled the third dungeon yet. I've just been adventuring around grabbing heart pieces, grabbing some insects, upgrading my wallet and bomb bag.

I'm really loving the game. I didn't think I would like it nearly as much as I am... and now I'm thinking I'm going to have to go back and finish OoT now that I'm spending so much time with this one. I know when I'm done, that I'll want to spend more time with the franchise.

Anyone else pissed that Tingle isn't in the game?

Although I guess Ooccoo and the mail man make up for his "WTF" factor.

I don't miss Tingle. Another WTF character
is the two dudes at Lake Hylia - WTF?!?!?!?

23:54 and I finally finished the third dungeon. I spent at least 3 hours in there. Some of the stuff was pretty well hidden.

I'm pretty pissed off. For some reason when I'm wolf Link and I z-target, everytime he turns a different direction, the animation chops up and the camera goes crazy. ARGH.

I feel what your saying about the difficulty of fights but it's been like with most if not all the Zeldas. I usually just look for the heart pieces after the games over if I want to collect everything because you rarely die without getting them anyway.

Love this game. Finished the 2nd dungeon at around 12 hours, gone about an hour past that, but I decided that a good place to stop would be
when trying to figure out where the hell I'm supposed to warp to learn how to thaw out the Zoras. I love the bow.

That part took me a while to figure out. Once you do you will wonder why you didn't think of it sooner - it makes total sense.

i have two dungeons left and I'm done with the game , I'm currently at 32 hours of gameplay and I've done some of the sidequest also , haven't used a strategy guide , I will have it beat tonight then I'll be trading the wii for a 360 so I can play gow.

I'm positive your hunch is correct.

anyway, I'm almost done with the game. Maybe one or two more dungeons left. I also found all the golden bugs. You get a nice prize, but it's not too useful at the point of the game I'm in.

I've posted this at least twice in this forum already. WHERE THE fuck IS TINGLE?!

I'm ocnvinced he's hidden in some corner somewhere. He has to be.

It was. ;) Of course now I'm reaching almost "Bunnies Don't Close Doors" levels of frustration with
this escort mission. I can either try to take out all the baddies and let the wagon burn, or try to follow the wagon all the way and get myself killed by all the arrows. My horse-fighting skills (sword or boomerang) are apparently not so hot.

I did get kind of pissed at that one, but only at the very end when
the bird is after the wagon and you have to hit it out of the air or else it'll cause the wagon to keep going in circles
.

My suggestion, if you want to read it:
Just sword the guys a lot and let them burn up the wagon for a while, it takes a shitload of time for it to burn all the way (mine never did) so you can let them get a few shots in while you kill them, then just lock on with the boomerang to the wagon and it's like they did nothing. Also, just lock on and arrow those fuckers whenever you're in trouble and can't get to them with the sword.

I just finished the 4th (desert) dungeon so I'm headed to the
snowy peaks, or whatever, the mountain to talk to the person, I just have to figure out exactly where to go...

My son figured out the key to that very early on. What took some time was realizing that the wagon can burn for awhile before it is critical, and then putting out the fire resets it to zero. That actually makes it quite easy.

Meh, I know what is giving me trouble on that mission.
I think Spaz mentioned it, I didn't realize the bombs from those birds were making the wagon ride around in circles the whole time, but then comes the problem of my shooting being pretty shitty on horseback, so there's not much I can do about it. Are the birds are least not respawned if I can manage to kill them?

Edit: Nevermind, I just suck at it. I'll be here a while. Or not. I hate it when something so trivial starts to ruin my enjoyment of a game.
fucking boomerang will not lock on unless I'm within a 1mm bounding box of the flame on the wagon, apparently.

On escorts:
Why am I the only one who had absolutely no trouble with this? I'm not trying to do the "oh man, I'm so good" thing...I'm genuinely stumped, because I was expecting it to suck like every other excort mission in the world, and it didn't. All you have to do is be proactive in in slashing dude bros, and use your bow (in first person) to take out any guys firing at the wagon from far away. Remember, you only need to hit the archers off, don't worry about the drivers. And yes, shoot any bird you see ASAP. My wagon only caught fire once, and I rode up to it and put it out right away. *shrugs*
Let's put it this way:
I walked up to the wagon when it was burning slightly from the archers in the hills on the way to the field, and it took a few seconds to find the spot to lock on and put the fire out. Why this is only a problem for me, I don't know. But take that experience, and translate it to being on horseback, with a moving wagon, and you'll understand my difficulty. If I could accurately shoot the birds, it would probably be a lot easier; the actual path probably takes a couple minutes to traverse, whereas it took me a good ten minutes of going around in circles the only time I got to the first bridge.

A suggestion for the the birds on the escort mission or any time you're using the bow and arrow throughout the game:
Remember that Z-targeting works, you don't have to manualy aim at anything. Lock on to those stupid bomb-carrying birds, pull B and shoot them out of the sky. Link's aim is amazing, as long as you pull the trigger back for about a second and let the arrow get to full strength and not just quickly tap B.

Putting out the fires sucks, but I think just quickly swording the guys and using the above suggestion makes this part cake. It's actually the one "escort" or "protect" mission I've ever liked in any game. :)

fucking hell, finally beat it.
As long as you take out the birds who basically drop bombs at two places, it's easy. Hell, if you do that, it'd be tough for the wagon to burn all the way down by the time you got there. The amusing part was getting off my horse and taking out respawning moblins at the last gate.

Now, back to enjoying Zelda!

Wow. just got to the mansion. This game keeps getting better and better even after 25 hours
Wow. just got to the mansion. This game keeps getting better and better even after 25 hours
Easily my favorite part of the game. It was the only part of the game where I was like 'whoah, I haven't seen this before.'

I thought the way the whole level is designed is really charming; the only downside was I wanted more after it was over.

Sitting in the third dungeon at 17 hours. I have a feeling I'll be wandering aimlessly for a few more hours before I figure it out. Tektites are a lot creepier in 3D, but a hell of a lot easier to kill. :D

Pretty amazing that I've been able to put 17 hours into a game in a week (started playing on Sunday, I think). At this rate I might be able to finish the game by Christmas, but probably not.

I'm at 24 hours now and I just finished the 3rd dungeon and am moving onto the next area.

L ... U... V... Loving every minute of it.
