Official Metroid Prime Hunters - Bounty Thread

Son of a B... Nobody has this game in stock locally. Everyone got Tetris in but not MPH. I should go on a killing spree... but I need MPH first. Here's hoping they have it tomorrow

Check Wal-Mart. I went around to a few different stores today (not to buy this game - I'm kinda low on funds right now), and as always, Wal-Mart seems to have what the other stores don't. It was the same deal with Kirby, Meteos, Burnout...pretty much every other game i've ever had a hard time finding, was somehow overstocked at Wal-Mart.

Just got done playing my first online game against Rolento. The online portion of the game seems like a lot of fun once you get used to all the hunters and their abilities. The ranking system is neat, as is the voice feature. I haven't been feeling too well lately (allergies I think), so if you that my voice sounds nasaly or just plain screwed up, it's probably because I'm conjested.

Oddly enough, the BB nearby me had Metroid and NOT Tetris.

Doesn't matter regardless, it's "for my birthday" and that's not until Thursday. fucking ...uh...time.

I added Touch It, Timmy, Staind and Furry King.

Can someone PM the trick to the level 2 boss? (not in here since it would be a spoiler)

Great game so far, I can't believe I'm playing portable 3-d metroid. the accuracy of the touch screen is a huge plus...but my hand is throbbing right now! I need a DS lite!

Are you guys using the thumbstrap to play? I'm pretty sure I lost mine, so I might have to buy a new one when I grab the game.
I think 60? But keep in mind that when you play the game cart in a different DS, it will change your friend code and wipe out your online record
actually not... if you pass the WiFi data from one DS to another the codes stay the same, so no worries. I did this with animal crossing when I got a replacement DS, and nothing is defferent at all and works perfectly.

I'll be adding everyone that posted before this post that I havent already. I acheived rank 2! yay! sorry if I don't seem to play fair or anything. Let me know if you think I'm cheap or anything and I will respect that.

lol yeah. You sounded kinda sick, but I didn't want to say anything. I've never played an online game with voice chat (that may be sad, but... ?) and I am starting to like it so far. Good game though.

Everyone already is so good. I was one of the first ones to get it and i'm already losing at a fast rate.

Ok I added Rolento, Staind, Furrycurry, Angel, Kreegs, Tomcloud, & Timmy.

Please keep in mind that if you did not have a user name listed, I used your CAG screen name. If anyone has not added me, please do! I want to get some CAG gaming going!

This is pretty awesome, with this game you can now tell who's online which you couldn't do on any previous Wi-Fi game that I was aware of. If someone starts a game up, I'll join in!

Right now I see Rolento Furry King and Angel online.

yeah, I'm taking a break, but I may be on later... it's pretty damn addicting actually and I think I'm getting hooked on nodes.

oh, and to transfer your wifi stuff, just go to your wifi setup menu, options, then send data thing whatever. then on the other ds choose download and the rest explains itself.

Battle - Normal every against everybody, whoever kills most wins

Survival - Last one standing. Everyone has a set number of lives before they're out.

Bounty - Pick up octolith and take it to a specific location for points.

Defender - Attempt to secure a designated area. you will earn time while you are the only hunter to occupy

Prime Hunter - First player to kill is Prime Hunter, whoever kills him takes the title and so on. Whoever is Prime Hunter longest wins

Capture - Capture the Flag (octolith)

Nodes - Fight over the Nodes placed around stage. When you stand on one for 10 seconds, you capture it. Get points for nodes under your control.
Man, I really wish I was born 10 days earlier, fucking mom keeping me in her womb...
you can always jump back in... though she might not like that.

I think I'm going to focus more on single player and once that's finished do more online... it also looks like there are two secrets in the options menu that you have to unlock... here's hoping for Metroid 2.
Can someone let me know in PM how to tackle the end boss in level 2?
which boss? the ball?

shoot the 3 worms... when they're all gone, shoot unshealded ball... repeat.

I might be online later, but I can't guarantee it... it all depends on how I feel...

Nodes is crack. It's so much more fun than straight up death match since you have to do a lot more thinking on your toes. And it's such a test of paitence. 10 secs is a dangerously long time in this game. You have to trick people into going away from you and start fights elsewhere away from the nodes. Then you have to keep looking around to make sure no one is coming at your for the node. Survival is fun too actually with one other person. It becomes a fight for health so everyone is always keeping guard/watch of the health respawn points. Whoever controls the health and the ins and outs of the arena will win.

I want to try CTF and Bounty next.

anyone playing single player? If so, when do you get your first new beam? just beat the second boss and haven't gotten one yet, though I got ammo for one.

i think right before the third boss...

and yeah, whoever watches the health is the winner. I'm realizing putting weavel's turret legs near health helps or over the spawn point... it's a safeguard... plus he is pretty damn good for nodes: place turret near your node, and go off and steal someone elses... he sucks ass though for 1 on 1 fights, but superb in large fights.

That's what I'm trying to do, it just kills me faster the more I shoot it.

i have a question for everyone here...

i never really got into the metroid prime series on the cube ( i know i know, dont flame) but i loved the 2d metroids. is this game worth my time, KNOWING that i didnt like the GC games. the online is the most appealing part. now, im sure ill get a lot of, "this game rules!!11" stuff, but just keep in mind i wasnt a huge fan of the GC versions... so, should i still get it?

No, it's more like the GC version than the 2d versions since it's a 3D game. It's basically the GC games on a handheld.

It's really the closest thing to a good FPS game the DS has though so if you're a fan of shooters than pick it up by all means but it's nothing like the 2d game which is actually the only other metroid game I've played (Metroid for the original gameboy)

Added you, feel free to add me (my code should be in my signature)

nice games guys! I'll probably see you soon .JPG either in metroid or Animal Crossing. It's real cool to be able to talk to you guys.

go to http://www.nintendowifi.com to track your stats and check your friend's stats. I'm surprised I ranked in the 100s >_< I'm ranked 94 overall, but I don't think that will last long.
hmm i forgot which boss it is then...

yay. I got past level 4 and unlocked all the characters now... so I'll try trace in a min or two
You got the right boss, I guess I need to do a better job of dodging or something. Nevermind, those things have homing beacons. Somehow I feel like I'm going into a fight with a BB gun when trying to beat this boss.

This really is a great game. The single player is well-designed and surprisingly immersive (though the "Okay, you killed the boss, now RUN!" bit annoys me). And as expected, when I attempted multiplayer last night, I had my ass handed to me on a platter time and again. I think I literally got three kills and in turn got killed about 27 times. It was humiliating. Oh, and the tactic of just turning into Samus' ball and bombing until dead? Totally cheap. :bomb:

Interesting note: At one point I was waiting for opponents and realized my dog needed to go out for a walk. So I closed the DS, thinking it would pause everything, and took the dog out. Came back in, opened up the DS, and suddenly I was in the middle of a match. That's when I got one of my kills because I think my inaction lulled my opponent into a false sense of security. He quickly evened the score...and then some. :hot:

It was pretty funny last night. My wife began Chibi Robo and was instantly strung out on it like crack. She played for four hours straight. Meanwhile, I was right by her on the couch making my way through new copies of MP: Hunters, Tetris DS, and Electroplankton (finally ordered it and it just happened to come yesterday).

I'm looking forward to meeting up with you guys online and trying out some modes other than straight deathmatch, at which I suck.

Question: How/when do you unlock characters? Can I play Kanden now because I beat him on the first planet? I've only fought Kanden, killed the first boss, and got the first octolith. When do you unlock hunters?

Better put us all on your Friends list then! Just know that nodes is addictive.

Just by beating them it seems. Before you kill them though make sure you scan them in both their normal and alt-forms. I'm missing Sylux and Trace but
I've fought Trace in a three -way hunter battle on this ice world and Sylux flew over head in a in game cutscene so I guess I'm getting closer to killing them.
Just to let you know, none of the characters are as they seem because each really has their own strengths and weaknesses. Like Spire for example. Poor big guy seems kinda big and slow but with his alt-form's ability to scale walls like a sticky ball and his toasty magmaul affinty attack he certainly can hold his own. Only person I don't usually want to play as is Samus, but she is so darn fast with ther alt-form's boost and her bouncy bombing butt goes around all over the place.

For some reason that just sounds funny lol

Will do tonight. I want to voice chat with someone because I know it will totally freak my wife out. She doesn't know it has VOIP.

Crap. I scanned Kanden but didn't scan his alt form. Will I get another chance?

I like Spire. When I discovered the wall-climbing it was really cool (though not always useful, as you just become a slow-moving wall target). And of all the hunters, he's arguably the most lovable. He definitely has a Thing from the Fantastic Four quality to him. His back story is also sympathetic: last of a dying race, just looking for his people.

What is the red laser that was used many, many times to vaporize me?

I'll try to add as many people as I can if you're on later and see that I haven't added you let me know. I'll be on this a bit later tonight so I should be easy to find.

I'll go through and add people tonight on this list. Please add me as well.

I would also like to second the idea of gathering the names on the first page or something. My codes are now on my sig
