Yeah, I did. Not sure if I'll be around tonight for that or not. I'd love to play with them though. I hope whoever plays with them cheeses and does cheap shit the entire night so they'll change the tuner set, hahaha. That's all I would do if I got to play the developers is try to glitch and show them how fucking stupid they've made the AI.

Yeah right, then they would actually change the tuner set and make the game fun again. You know they will play fair and then of course the next night....Glitch fest 10!

There was one stretch where we won 3 out of 4. And we finished winning 4 of our last 7, so that was pretty good. It's just too bad the game is so inconsistent now with good play actually translating to wins.

I thought it was 3 but wasn't really sure of my self. I think the one game we played where we got penalties for every little thing we did was complete bullshit. I usually don't even have more than 4 minute penalty time in a game. Except for that POS game we played.


Edit: I only need 10 more games till I get to my next card.
 
Sorry about last night guys. I joined the party but everyone sounded really shity and I couldn't understand one word anyone said. I rebooted my modem and then it didn't let me get online the rest of the night. Pissed that I missed out on a CAG Hockey night since I rented it for that reason and I want to get a good idea if I want to buy it or not. Since online is the major selling point for me...

That's because we are all in the new dashboard preview. Not sure if you are or arn't. I'll be on tonight trying to get my next ten games in.

I didn't know anyone was still playing till I checked Xbox.com around 1:30-2 A.M. Eastern. The game really pissed me off since I got a rare goal as a defenseman and the game didn't even count. Then we got fucked in the next game, and lost the one after that huge.

Following that game, Nate's voice was cutting out really badly, which Brandon mentioned hearing as well. Then Nate signed off, and I tried talking but I couldn't hear you or Brandon, and then everyone left the party, so between that and already being frustrated, I signed off, thinking everyone was done.

I told everybody I was going to cycle my router. Gary said he heard all of it, and Brandon said he could make out the word "router", so he got the gist of what I was doing. I was head of the party, so it probably just cycled and gave new ownership. Maybe it was in the process of doing that when you were trying to talk. We just kept playing until Alan got on at around 2 AM EST, and then played a couple games with him before calling it a night. I hadn't played NHL at all since last Friday, so even with taking beatings, I was going to keep playing. Stupid things happen in the game, but not playing often and getting rusty isn't going to help us either.
 
If anyone wants to get somes games in now, I'd be up for it. I need to play an NBA 2K11 league game at some point tonight (if any of my opponents get on), but in the meantime, I could go for some NHL.
 
Well, as I said, I thought everyone was done anyway, so it wasn't just frustration. I hadn't played since Friday, either, but I wasn't rusty at all, so no worries there.
 
I told Nate this earlier when I was playing a OTP Drop in game. I decided I was going to fight somebody in the second cause I can't stand the puck hogs in a drop in game. Get in a fight and it lasted 8 minutes long cause I kept blocking and ducking and weaving. When I decided to just finish it, I punched the guy 4 times and he went down. As soon as I got out of the box there was only about 4 people left out of a whole 12 people that original played till the third period. Apparently the fight bored the hell out of them lol.

Hahaha, that's so awesome. Fight the power!!! (and by "power" I mean douchebags who play selfishly in drop-in games)

One of my rants? What are you talking about? I was just going to answer "No, it's the same crappy tuner set that they've been using for almost a month now". I've mostly accepted it for what it is. Basically, the key to standing a chance with this tuner set is having 4-5 human players who know what they're doing, and pray that your goalie doesn't screw you over anyway. There's just no margin for human error because the AI won't back you up. If anybody expects to enjoy OTP at all, they've gotta be on top of their game. It's harsh, but that's the reality of it.
 
Except the goalie still screws us over at least 50% of the time. :( But yes, we should all try to be on top of our game at all times, no matter what. I think we usually do.

Yes! A tuner rant because of how much it fucked the game over and made it horrible to play if you don't have an excellent AI Defense man or Excellent Human goalie! Not saying it's a bad rant but I love when you go off on the Tuner set. I love em all the same and wasn't saying it in a dickish way either.

Well, it's not like it's impossible to have success in the game...and we have done better lately. It just basically requires what I mentioned before. It sucks, but I've basically had to reapply my NHL 10 mentality to this game. With good human players, you can win. You just have to rely on the AI as little as possible.

New Tuner details:

Tuning Update unofficial notes for ~2am PT, Oct 19 release.

All modes:
-Human puck carriers can be hit immediately when they acquire the puck now (there was a short period where they couldn't be hit previously). *
-Goalie more careful about dropping the puck from his glove to his stick when there is pressure. *
-Slap shot effectiveness with partial windup reduced.
-Hitting from behind and boarding called more strictly.
-Fewer elbowing penalties.
-Decrease CPU post-whistle penalties.

Offline only (V1.05):
-Goalies less aggressive going after loose pucks (same change that online modes got last tuning update).
-Goalies less aggressive passing the puck out

OTP/EASHL Only:
-Goalies now will not throw the puck out when in glove standing unless pass is called for.
-Increase the effect of shot accuracy attributes.
-Changed CPU base attributes to make them a bit better defensively and a bit weaker on offense.

Does this mean without a penalty being called or just that they were incapable of physical contact? I'm guessing our defensemen would notice this one more. Might affect some of those goals right in front of the net.

better defensively = yes, please
weaker on offense = Uhhhh...if they mean in terms of sniping corners, sure. But they need to be BETTER at knowing what they should be doing. If this makes them skate headfirst into the boards, I'm going to kill someone.

Not really. But we can switch over to game chat to talk. No one liked to do it for Magicking, but as long as you don't scream like a little girl and yell "goal!!!" before shooting the puck over an empty net, you should be fine. ;)

Gary, I can play in about an hour if you'll still be on. Not sure if Alan had to work tonight or if he'd even be interested in playing, but I should be able to stay up pretty late. Maybe we can play till the new tuner set is released, haha.

Darktower... If you switch let me know... I am down to play. I will more than likely either be on MW2 or MoH otherwise. I am already on the Cheapy squad as Matt Young invited me to it.
 
Yeah, to echo DarkTower's sentiments, the new tuner set is fantastic. We noticed right away how much better the AI was playing...but we were hestitant to praise the tuner set because it was just one game. But after 4-5 games, it was obvious that they won't skate head on into defenders and lose the puck anymore. They'll pass if there's an option, or they'll dump the puck. They also don't give the puck to you if you're surrounded by defenders.

Every breakaway isn't a guaranteed score anymore. The goalies play much more deliberately now. No more floppy diving all over the crease. And they don't pass the puck out when nobody calls for it. Even slap shots seem to work now! With this new tuner, every game was a one goal game. We won our first three and were able to control time on attack pretty well. When we lost, it was because we were outshot and had less time on attack...or gave up too many power plays. Both Brandon and Gary remarked that if they can keep the game like this, it will make them want to play several nights a week, and I feel the same.

Believe it or not, the game is actually fun again, and you don't constantly feel cheated by the AI despite your own solid play. But not surprisingly, people on the EA forums are bitching about the tuner. After everybody gets a chance to try it, let EA know how you feel about it by posting here (http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/3292389.page). I'd be happy if they just left the game like this for the rest of the year. To me, it feels almost perfect now.
 
I concur with everyone.

Sorry the two games I played in were rough, my connection was horrid. don't know if it was me or what, the one game they quit early I had absolutely no lag.

Sorry I had to drop last night. I'm guessing you guys heard me when I said someone was banging on my window (room's in the back of the house, too). It was one of my neighbors who needed help with something. Even though I've been glad I befriended my neighbors after 9 months of them living there, I'm quickly going to regret it if it means random appearances at my bedroom window. fuck that Clarissa Explains It All bullshit.

Actually, we were wondering where ya went. We didn't hear anything from ya at all. As for a banner, I think it's quite possible really. I like how they actually reward ya for good D in terms of no 5 goals scored or something, sure if your out of place or do something stupid, you deserve to be scored on. I just love this tuner set and will be playing again tonight. I have 30 games left for the next card, but with this tuner set it won't feel like such a chore getting those games in. As for the Clarissa Explains It All comment, classic!
 
I only played a Be a GM game last night, but I could tell it was already different. I might hop on tonight (I am working from home) around 1130 or so, but we'll see. Glad to hear this tuner is a good one though.
